At the same time, I do not want, and often there is no possibility, to spend too much money on the purchase of an expensive ready-made New Year's costume. And why? Preparing for festive parties and sewing beautiful costumes is a very pleasant and fun experience.

The New Year's costume of Santa Claus, or, as it is called in the West, Santa Claus, includes quite commonplace attributes.

We cut out an isosceles triangle, in which the base is the length of the head circumference + a couple of centimeters in stock, because Santa Claus's hat should not sit like a stocking. After the triangle has been cut out, the sides must be sewn together. The hat itself is ready.

As a staff, you can use the most ordinary wooden handle purchased from a hardware store for a shovel, mop, etc. It is enough to paste over it with foil, sparkles with rhinestones and tinsel, and attach a homemade star or snowflake to the handle. How to draw a Santa Claus costume pattern?

The seams are processed with an overlock or manually, because the fabric is crumbling. Edging is sewn on the sleeves, hem, collar and shelves. Finally, an invisible fastener is sewn on - a zipper, hooks or buttons. As a belt, you can use a white ribbon or a thin strap, white or black, with a silver buckle.
The next step is to sew the pants. First, the back and front halves are sewn together, then both parts are sewn into one piece, the inner seams are processed. A hem is made along the waist and an elastic band is inserted. The bottom of the legs is decorated with white fluffy edging or folded.
The last detail is the cap. The cut wedges are sewn together, an edging is sewn along the bottom, and a pom-pom made of white threads or fur on the tip.
What can you add to your Santa Claus costume?
It is quite difficult for a small child to find shoes that match the suit, so they can be sewn from the remnants of the fabric. To determine the size, you need to circle the child's leg and make a small allowance - 0.5-1 cm on all sides. The sole details can be cut out of leather or felt. Then 4 parts are cut out of the fabric, covering the socks, and the tops. Fabric parts are first sewn together, then sewn to the sole. Another important part of Santa's costume is mittens. Sewing them is easy: first you need to circle the child's brush with the thumb set aside to make a pattern, then transfer the pattern to the fabric, cut 4 parts with seam allowances and sew 2 mittens. To prevent the mittens from falling off, you can sew in an elastic band, stepping back 2 cm from the top edge.
An interesting Santa Claus will turn out if you complement the costume with a false beard made of white fur and a gift bag filled with padding polyester to create the appearance of volume. If the child is thin, a small pillow can be placed under the suit to create an impressive "tummy". It can be secured with elastic bandages and a belt.
Therefore, as soon as an ad was posted in the kindergarten with a list of costumes for children, I immediately decided that I would sew myself. I must say right away that I am not a professional in cutting and sewing, therefore the suit is sewn at the household level, without the correct construction of the pattern. But in general, nothing came out! As a pattern, I used children's pajamas + some measurements of the child + periodic fitting.

2. First, sew the triangles together, then fold the white strip in half, wrap the edges like on panties and sew along the edge of the cap.

1. For me, the jacket turned out to be the most difficult to sew, but I coped with it. First you need to cut out the back of the jacket, the two front parts and the sleeves. Then sew the back with the front parts of the jacket.

4. Now prepare and sew the white stripes on the sleeves, in the same way as you sewed the stripes on the pants.

7. Now make a collar approximately according to this pattern. It consists of two identical parts. And sew it on.

And although now there is a large assortment on store shelves, I came across children's Santa costumes, to put it mildly, of poor quality (at a very affordable price). And the sizes were not the same. Therefore, I do not at all regret my time spent on making Santa's carnival costume, especially since I spent only six hours. How to sew a Santa Claus costume - master class
If you do not have a pattern, then take a dressing gown as a basis. Put it on the one who will play the role of this character. If this robe fits, then attach to it a newspaper or a large sheet of paper to the robe, outline the back, shelf, sleeve, the pattern is ready. If there is no such apparel, then take a pattern from the Internet, build it yourself or redraw the one presented below.

And the grandfather of size 46 will seem ridiculous, but he must be omnipotent. This means that a lot of fabric will be needed. First you need to take measurements with a centimeter tape from the one for whom you need to sew a Santa Claus costume. Then you need to carefully study the selected pattern and make sure that it fits in size.

- ruler and measuring tape;
- finished, cut out patterns.
Then the fabric should be cut, leaving seam allowances of about two centimeters.
The fur coat is sewn from five parts: two front shelves (right and left), back, collar and belt.

If you only have short pieces of fabric, and there is no piece of suitable length left, make a sash piece from several pieces and sew them together.
Then the resulting blank sash must be folded in length exactly in half, carefully bend the edges inward and sew the entire part on a sewing machine. Your belt is ready and can be decorated with white faux fur, fringe or fabric on both ends.

After the fur coat is ready, you can do sewing hats for vesting Santa Claus.
