The wedding of Olympic champion Tatyana Navka and press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov in Sochi lasted two days and was accompanied by a scandal because bloggers noticed an expensive watch on the groom’s hand.

Employees of the Anti-Corruption Foundation contacted the official Richard Mille boutique and learned that the same watch costs $620 thousand, while in 2014 Peskov earned about 9 million rubles.

After the heated discussions, several versions emerged of how Dmitry Peskov could have acquired such an expensive accessory. Oleg Mitvol, who published the ill-fated photograph, was one of the first to stand up for Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, suggesting that the newlyweds decided to joke in this way.

“During the wedding, Peskov understood that he would be photographed, and the cards would then spread across the Internet. During the preparations for the wedding, there were also so many rumors that the guests had a lot to discuss and laugh about later. So in this case, the newlyweds decided to play a joke. Peskov temporarily borrowed a watch from one of his friends who was present at the celebration. I posed with them. We were waiting for journalists to react to this canard. And they were not mistaken. Elizaveta explained this decision by solidarity with her mother’s feelings, but assured that her relationship with Navka was good.
