Knitting a hat with ears with knitting needles for a newborn is not difficult, the main thing is to follow the scheme with a description of the work process.

Dimensions:

Head circumference: 38-42 cm.

Materials for work:

• yarn (100% superfine merino wool; 105 m / 50 g) - 50 g white and the rest of pink;
• stocking knitting needles No. 3.5 and 4.5;
• hook number 5;
• cotton wool for filling.

Knitting density

Working process:

On knitting needles No. 3.5, dial 80 loops, evenly distribute them on 4 knitting needles (= 20 sts for each knitting needle) and close in a ring. Tie 2 cm with an elastic band.

Switch to needles No. 4.5 and knit with a pearl pattern.

After 13 cm from the initial row, start decreasing.

Pull off the remaining 8 sts with a working thread and fasten the thread.

Assembly

For the ears, dial 6 sts on the knitting needles with a white thread and knit purl in the wrong row.

Continue knitting with front stitch, while in the 1st p. knit 2 sts from each loop = 12 sts. On the inner 6 sts, continue to knit with a pink thread, and on the outer loops with white.

After 6 cm, reduce the pink loops: 2 times in each 2nd p. Knit the 1st pink loop together with the 2nd pink loop with an inclination to the left (= 1 p. remove, as in knitting, stretch 1 front and removed loop through it), and knit the penultimate pink loop together with the last pink front loop.

On the next row, continue to knit the last 2 pink loops with a white thread = 8 p.

After 2 r. add for the back side of the ear in each next 2nd p. on both sides 2 x 1 p. = 12 p.

Sew the ears in pairs along the edges and loosely fill with cotton wool. Sew on the ears according to the photo, stepping back from the top of the head approx. 10 cm, and at a distance of approx. 10 cm apart.

For ties, crochet with double white thread 2 chains of air loops, approx. 30 cm and sew on the sides on the inside of the hat, stepping back from the bottom edge of approx. 1 cm
