Oncology

The versatility of the scarf-snood is explained by its convenience and practicality. This versatile wardrobe item can be used not only as a scarf, but also as a hat and hood.

A wide variety of different models allows you to wear the accessory in any season: warm fluffy products are popular for winter, and in summer such a cute addition to clothing, knitted from thin light yarn, will refresh and decorate even the most modest outfit.

It is worth noting that snoods are actively worn not only by lovely fashionistas, but also by men and children. After all, they are not only at the peak of fashion, but also very comfortable to wear, and also match almost any outerwear - coats, sports jackets, fur coats and raincoats.

Crocheted openwork winter snood for women “Stars”

For beginner craftswomen who prefer to work with crochet, we suggest knitting a beautiful voluminous scarf with lush columns - a snood for winter with the “Stars” pattern. The huge advantage of such a product is that it can be made very quickly, literally in a couple of hours. To make the product voluminous, you need to choose a thicker hook. Size of the finished scarf: length 35 - 40 cm, height 24 - 25 cm. Thread color can be chosen as desired. During the work, you can combine several shades of the same color or use melange yarn.

The originality and simplicity of the pattern made it very popular due to various associations: depending on the color and thickness of the yarn, it resembles flowers to some, snowflakes or stars to others. In any case, the products look very impressive and beautiful.

If the scarf is intended for spring or autumn, in this case yarn containing viscose is ideal, and the hook should be thinner.

Before starting work, it is advisable to knit a small motif according to the pattern below to determine the knitting density. And only then calculate how many air loops to start working with.

In the description below, each star of our pattern is formed from 6 lush columns. A lush column is formed from a varying number of unknitted columns (elongated loops), which are connected at the end by one common loop. In our case, it will consist of 3 elongated loops.

Required materials and tools

For work we will need:

  • any mohair yarn, such as Nako Mohair Delicate Colorflow. Yarn composition: 40% mohair and 60% acrylic;
  • hook for the thickness of the yarn.

Scheme "Lush column"

The fabric is knitted according to the following pattern with lush columns:

The longer the elongated loops are, the more voluminous and more prominent the scarf will look.

Description of work

First we knit a chain of air loops. The number of air loops must be a multiple of 15 + 4 loops for lifting.

1 row: in the 7th loop we form 3 elongated loops and connect them together. You will get a lush column.

Knit 2 more puffy stitches: one in the 7th loop of the chain, and the other in the 11th loop of the base. And we knit all the columns together, pulling the thread through them.

2nd row: 4 lifting air loops + 3 more air loops. loops. Next, we knit lush stitches (the 1st in the 4th lifting loop, the 2nd in the double crochet stitch, and the 3rd in the middle of the star). Then pull the thread through all the posts. (See photo). In the second row, the center of the picture shifts.

When compiling our selection, we can safely say that the easiest way to knit a snood across is to alternate the air loops and sts. with a so-called fillet mesh. Moreover, if you change the texture of the yarn, you will get a completely different model.

Play with yarn:

  • thick wool or acrylic will make a voluminous snood for the winter;
  • made from fine mohair or wool mixture, a delicate product for the off-season;
  • They also knit snoods from grass or terry polyacrylic, which are quite warm and fluffy. Children especially love them.

The most popular are, of course, warm snoods; a new item this season is the waffle pattern.

It is not necessary to knit a scarf from expensive yarn; it is enough to take a good wool blend or acrylic. The item will definitely be warm if you can wrap it around your neck in two turns.

Snoods - scarves for children

A children's scarf differs from an adult's only in size. We advise not to knit particularly bulky patterns for children, because they hinder movement; it is difficult for a child to raise his arm or turn his head if there is a mountain of yarn hanging around his neck. By the way, yarn should also be chosen much more carefully than for an adult. The scarf comes into contact with the tender cheeks of children, take this into account when buying yarn for your next product.

Calculation of the dimensions of your product

This simple sign will help you choose the size of the snood if you cannot choose it yourself:

Dimensions: 133*23 cm. Knitted according to the pattern, for starters it is recommended to cast on 35 vp. and knit 120 rows in length. Then the scarf needs to be sewn into a ring. Number of initial v.p. and the number of rows depends on the thickness of your yarn and knitting density.

A snood or scarf collar is something I've had my eye on for a long time. In the conditions of our Siberian winter, only hardened people can walk without a scarf, and I’m not one of them - I’m constantly freezing :-). I’m somehow tired of the usual scarves, especially since wearing them over a down jacket or fur coat is somehow no longer very attractive. And sometimes you want to wrap yourself up so that only your eyes stick out :) This snood is just what you need! I decided I would knit and went online to search for patterns and patterns.

I came across very beautiful snoods with arans and braids, such as on. I have saved the most interesting options for knitted snoods and, perhaps, will share them in one of the following publications.

Snood made of lush columns with stars

But I somehow wanted to crochet a snood more. In my opinion, it will be faster this way, and the interest in knitting needles has already faded a little. I found a very beautiful snood with stars, but the pattern for it was completely incomprehensible to me. After googling a little, I found a description, but it turned out completely different from the photo. And then I found a detailed video on how to knit stars in lush stitches. You can watch it just below. Just in case, I’ll also explain the principle of creating such a pattern with my photos.

Snood with a star pattern

And if you knit, as the craftswoman advises in the video below, you get very beautiful lush stars.

Agree, it’s a very beautiful pattern, and will suit both a child and an adult. I’ve already started working, and now I’m sharing what I’m doing. Later I will supplement the article with photographs of the finished snood.

Necessary materials:

  • acrylic yarn - 1 skein (100 grams),
  • hook No. 2.75.
One skein left - 100 grams

First we knit a row of lush columns, the width of the product will depend on their number. I knitted 10 lush columns. (During the work, I mixed up the front side of the work with the side, as a result, the width increased by another 2 lush columns :)

Then we need to knit another fluffy stitch for the rise.

Now we knit three lush columns with one top. To do this, we collect lush columns at the tops of the 11th, 10th and 9th columns (loops indicated in red in the photo) and close them with one loop. At first it will be a little difficult and slow, but already in the third row I got the hang of it and it started to work out quite quickly.

Then a lush column - to the top of the 10th column

We knit in this way until the end of the row. Then we unfold the work and again knit a fluffy column for lifting. And then again three lush columns with one top. Continue knitting until the desired length of the snood.

The series is over, now we unfold the work...
...we knit a fluffy column for lifting and then follow the above pattern

As promised, I am adding to the article. This is such a universal snood - suitable for both adults and children. Actually, I knitted it for myself, but my son said that it was his “scarf”, but it’s just a joy for me :)

Snood crocheted from lush columns

A very beautiful snood made of airy columns of yarn with a color transition. Agree, it looks very beautiful. I even regretted that I first bought threads for my snood, and then began to look for options.

Knitting pattern for it (if you figured out the “stars”, then everything is even simpler)

Voluminous snood with a beautiful and simple pattern

A year later, I decided to supplement the article with another beautiful pattern. The snood with stars looks very beautiful, but while wearing it, one disadvantage was revealed - the threads from the lush columns are pulled out. And since there is Velcro on the hood of a children's jacket, they stretch out very much. Here in , there is a photo with a stretched “star” snood. Therefore, there was a need to knit a new snood for my son. I wanted the pattern to be voluminous, but at the same time durable enough. I searched for a very long time, I even began to despair. I came across either too complex, or, on the contrary, too primitive options, or thin ones with large holes. But still, on YouTube I came across this wonderful video, which tells in great detail how to knit a voluminous snood, and the pattern is very beautiful and durable. Even the threads are the same as mine. 🙂 Many thanks to the author of this video, I am happy to share it, and also offer my MK with step-by-step photos on knitting such a snood.

How to knit a snood: my step-by-step master class with photos

And here is my master class on knitting a snood with “bumps”, shown in the video above. Still, it’s more convenient for me to quickly find my way around a photo than to watch and rewind a video for a long time to remember something. To make the snood tighter, I knitted it in two threads. The threads are exactly the same as for the snood with stars. We start knitting a snood not from a regular chain of air loops, but from a chain of half-columns. This chain looks prettier and stretches better. To make it easier to see and understand, I tied a chain of half-columns into one thread especially for the photo on the blog.

Yarn over and knit two loops on the hook together (chain loop) We thread the hook into the loop shown by the arrow and... ...pull out the loop

We knit a chain of half-columns of the desired length. The length of my chain is 66 cm. I knitted it for a 4-year-old child to wear over a winter jacket with a hood. If you want the snood to be two turns, the length of the chain should be 2.5 times greater. You can tie a chain, put it on yourself or a child, and tie it to the required length.

We close the finished chain into a ring with connecting loops, knit 2 air loops for lifting and then knit as shown below. (I forgot to take a photo of the beginning of the row with the lifting air loops, so several previous “bumps” are already knitted in the photo, but the knitting of the entire row is identical to the first “bump,” so I think everything will be clear).

Let's yarn over...

We knit each “bump” behind a diagonal thread (the arrow marks where to thread the hook)
From this place we knit our “bumps” in each row

Due to the fact that we will knit behind the diagonal threads shown above, the pattern on the snood will go in a spiral.

We knit in this way to the desired height of the snood. I knitted 23 cm so that the snood could be worn folded in half.

We've been wearing the snood for a month now and are happy with it. It does not deform, the threads do not stretch. Very beautiful, dense and warm!

Snood made of embossed columns

I also liked this snood made of embossed posts. An interesting pattern and gray yarn make this snood look like a silver chain. Or is it just me who thinks so :)

Description

To work you will need a hook number 4.5 and thick threads. Knit a chain of 200 stitches. Knit the last two stitches together (199 stitches will remain). Next knit as follows:

  • 3 rows - with relief elastic band,
  • 3 rows - with a relief track,
  • 5 rows - with a relief elastic band,
  • 3 rows - with a relief path,
  • 3 rows - with a relief elastic band.

You can alternate rows of elastic and tracks as much as you like. The knitting is simple, but the result is very beautiful!
