Paper option

The fastest and easiest way to make a Batman mask is from paper. We are talking about a standard version, for which you will need regular cardboard or felt. To create it you need:

  • Measure the child's face to determine the half-circumference of the head. This measurement will be needed to create an option that is suitable for your child.
  • Next, you need to make sketches on paper; for this you can use an existing stencil.
  • Be sure to draw ears on top.
  • Mark the holes for the eyes as ovals.
  • Transfer the resulting outline onto cardboard or felt. Use any shades, not necessarily black.
  • Make holes to attach elastic.

  • It is very easy to make options from paper and felt. With these masks, any child will feel like a real superhero.

    Volume mask

    Making flat blanks is not the only way. A voluminous mask, for example, is more difficult to make, but it also looks more impressive. The step-by-step plan presented below will help you create a real masterpiece. Have to take:

    • stencils;
    • cardboard;
    • paper, preferably glossy;
    • pencil;
    • scissors;
    • electrical tape;
    • hot glue gun;
    • Folded Bein.

    Such a product may require a lot of effort and time. But the Batman mask template will help in the process.

  • First you need to cut out all the parts from thick cardboard.
  • Take stencil A and bend it along the dotted line.
  • You need to glue stencil B to the bottom.
  • Using stencil D you need to make Batman's nose.
  • The eyes on stencils A and B are located symmetrically on the main “pipe”. They are attached directly above the mouth opening. You can use duct tape or hot glue.
  • Both parts C are attached above the eyes - these are the eyebrows.
  • The nose is attached between the eyes and a hole is cut out on the base along its contour.
  • You need cuts from the eyebrows up. You should get a sloping forehead. Incisions are made around the entire circumference of the head.
  • For a sloping forehead, cuts above the eyebrows are also necessary.
  • Then you need to attach a black strip to your forehead using electrical tape.
  • Stencils E must be inserted into the curved cut as shown in the figure. Then you need to align the ears and attach with tape.
  • Next, seal the cuts with tape around the entire circumference of the head to create a neat crease.
  • We use 2 stencils F. These parts need to be glued to the back to add volume.
  • G stencils are glued to the front of the ear. Black paper will help close the gaps.
  • Two triangles will help add volume. They are folded in the center and glued to both sides.
  • The final version can be wrapped with black tape.
  • First, completely cover the eyes and nose, then you can simply cut out the holes.
  • Glue the nose onto the finished face using a drop of hot glue.

  • Don't forget to leave the layout to dry. Be sure that such a handmade creation will definitely make a splash at a children's party. This is a very affordable way to make a Batman mask from cardboard. It's not the easiest, but the result is stunning.

    Fabric "Batman"

    You can also sew a mask from fabric. At the same time, it is absolutely not necessary to know how to sew on a machine; you can do it with your hands, a needle and thread. There is an answer to the question of how to sew such beauty: it is done quite simply - you need a pattern, chalk, scissors. Parts are cut out of the fabric, parts of the top are sewn together. The ears are attached to the main elements on the wrong side, and the second part is attached. You will get a kind of helmet. Using scissors, cut holes for the eyes. The eye sections can be sewn on a machine. If desired, you can bring different ideas to life. For example, make a mask out of papier mache, decorate it beautifully, or come up with another interesting way to create the image of a superhero. But the best idea is to do it with your child so that he is directly involved in creating his costume. The methods outlined above will allow you to create a truly creative costume for your beloved child. After all, everything made with love always looks great. Watch similar master classes:

After all, this is a fairly simple outfit to make, the costs of which can be minimal. Don't know how to make it yourself? Ideas that will help you awaken your creative spirit are waiting for you later in the article.

    Canons of the image

    The first Batman comics were published in 1939. For more than 70 years, this character was painted by different artists, each of whom made their own adjustments to his image. Initially, the hero was in gray tight clothes, then they became darker, and from time to time versions appeared in blue-violet shades. The shape and size of the cloak also changed, but it, like the mask, was most often black. The logo also underwent changes, as did the color of the belt. There are no strict canons for the appearance of a character - therefore, when you make a Batman costume with your own hands, you have a lot of options on how to style it. And they will all be correct. The main thing is that the child and you like the result.

    Batman mask: making an accessory with your own hands

    This essential attribute can be purchased ready-made, or you can make it yourself. The easiest way is to take some thick felt, cardboard or craft foam and use the template below.

    Cut out a black mask, a yellow bat and make slits for the eyes. After this, the work process is intuitive. Simply glue the bat onto the mask and glue or sew black elastic to the edges.

    From dad's old pants

    Children love to copy their favorite characters, especially if they can dress like them. But they grow quickly, and it is not always possible to spend extra money on things that will only be useful during the game. This DIY Batman costume is made at minimal cost and will last your child for several years.

    It is based on ordinary wardrobe items that every boy has - black and dark sweatpants. In addition to them, you will need:

    • unnecessary men's trousers;
    • fabric glue;
    • felt (black and yellow);
    • ribbon (black and yellow);
    • pins;
    • sewing machine and necessary accessories.

    The manufacturing process includes several stages:

    1. Cut one pant leg and open the inseam. This will be Batman's cape. Finish the edges of the fabric and sew on a ribbon to tie the cape around the neck.
    2. Next, print out the Batman logo and cut out an oval from yellow felt and a bat from black. Repeat the operation to get 4 parts. Glue them together in pairs. Attach one emblem to the raincoat, one to the T-shirt using pins. So, you can easily wash things by removing the logo. In this case, the felt will not deteriorate in the washing machine.
    3. Use the yellow ribbon as a superhero belt.

    To complete the look

    How is the Batman mask made in this costume? You can make it with your own hands in different ways, but the way it is made in this kit is one of the simplest and most economical:

    1. Take the remaining pant leg and place it on the child's head. You will be able to determine the place where its width most closely matches the circumference of the head. Cut the trouser leg with a good margin. Try it on again and mark the baby's nose with chalk. Fold the fabric in half, draw an arc and make a cutout on the front of the mask. Then cut holes for the eyes.
    2. Also draw an arc along the upper edge of the trouser leg to create pointed ears. Cut and stitch the top seam.
    3. You can use any shoes, and so that they do not stand out from the general style, they can be covered with thick black socks with non-slip rubber specks on the soles.

    Beautiful Batman costume for children

    Making a New Year's outfit with your own hands is somewhat more difficult, because it should be in no way inferior to store-bought options. A superhero is recognized not only by his costume, but also by his impressive muscles, so boys really like costumes with muscles. Do you think it's incredibly difficult to make them? Not at all. Let's look at how to make a “muscular” New Year's Batman costume with your own hands.

    For the top of the outfit you will need:

    • 2 black T-shirts that fit the child well;
    • dark felt;
    • felt or other dense fabric in yellow and black for the emblem;
    • padding polyester;
    • hot glue;
    • sewing machine and other sewing accessories.

    Then let's get to work:

    1. Take felt and cut out the outlines of the muscles of the arms, chest and abs.
    2. Then glue it onto the black T-shirt, leaving small holes.
    3. Fill the resulting pockets with padding polyester. When the “muscles” reach the desired volume, tape them up. Don't be alarmed that at this stage the work looks extremely untidy.
    4. Prepare the Batman logo as in the previous costume.

    Take a second T-shirt and put it on top of the first. Use pins to carefully pin them together. Don't forget to include a superhero emblem. Sew all the elements.

    Beautiful cloak

    To make a full-fledged Batman costume with your own hands, you definitely need to sew a beautiful cape. For its manufacture the following were used:

    • black satin (1 m);
    • black felt (1 m);
    • thick black ribbon;
    • Velcro fastener (3 pcs.);
    • yellow and black fabric for the emblem.

    To create beautiful pointed scallops on your cape, fold the fabric in half and use a plate. Then cut out the same piece from felt and stitch them together. Dense fabric will give the cloak an expressive shape, and the beautiful shine of satin will make it festive and elegant. Make a Velcro fastener around the neck. To make the cloak flutter beautifully, sew ribbons to its ends, with which it will be attached to your hands. Also make the fasteners from Velcro to make putting on the suit easy and simple.

    Finish the job by gluing the emblem to the cape. Find black ones, tie a yellow ribbon as a belt - you get a ready-made Batman costume. A do-it-yourself outfit will come out original and beautiful.

    Batman can undeniably be considered one of the most beloved superheroes among both children and adults. If you are preparing for a masquerade, where you are going to appear in the image of this superhero, then the Batman mask will perfectly complement your outfit. Whether you want to make a simple eye mask or a real helmet mask, you will find this article useful in both cases. With its help, you can print a mask template and cut a mask out of foamiran, or take cardboard and make a helmet mask. If you need a mask that exactly follows the contours of your face, then you can make a mask from tape.

    Method 1 of 4: Making a simple mask from foamiran

      Measure your face. You need to determine the half-circumference of the head and the vertical distance from the tip of the nose to the top of the forehead, as well as the distance from the nose to the eyes. Write down your measurements so you can use them to create a mask that fits you exactly.

      • Take a measuring tape and measure the distance from ear to ear across your face.
      • Determine the distance from the tip of the nose to the top of the forehead.
      • Measure the distance from the tip of the nose to the lower eyelid, as well as the size of the eyes themselves.

    1. Start sketching out the outline of the mask on paper. It may not be that easy, but if you have all the necessary measurements, you will be able to successfully create a template of a mask that is suitable for your face.

      • Draw a horizontal line corresponding in length to the measured width of the face.

    2. Draw the nose part of the mask. Find the center point of the horizontal line and place a point 2.5 cm below it. Use a ruler to connect this point to the right end of the horizontal line. Similarly, connect the left end of the line to this point.

      • You need to draw two slanted lines from the ends of the original horizontal line. These lines should meet at an obtuse angle at a point located 2.5 cm below the center of the horizontal line.

    3. Draw the outlines of the top of the mask and the ears. The ears will be curved lines starting from the ends of the horizontal line.

      • Draw two curved lines extending upward from the ends of the horizontal line. The height of these lines should correspond to the distance from the nose to the forehead plus an additional 7.5 cm.
      • Complete the triangular contours of the ears by drawing their other halves with curved lines starting from the tips of the ears. These lines should have a mirror opposite bend in relation to the first lines of the ears and form triangles with a base about 5 cm wide. It is these triangles that will become the ears of the mask.
      • Draw a line connecting the bottom points of the ears.

    4. Draw holes for the eyes. To do this, draw two ovals.

      • The lower point of the ovals should be approximately the same distance from the center point of the mask as the distance you measured from the tip of the nose to the lower eyelid.
      • Measure in the figure the required distance from the center point of the horizontal line to the level of the lower eyelids.
      • The eye holes themselves should be approximately twice as wide as your eyes.
      • Draw the ovals so that they are slightly narrower at the inner corners of the eyes and tilt down slightly.

    5. Cut out the prepared mask template. Take scissors and cut out the mask template along the outline, don't forget to cut holes for the eyes.

    6. Transfer the contours of the mask onto black foamiran. To transfer the contours of the mask onto the foamiran, take a pen.

      • Although the traditional color of Batman is black, you can make the masks in any color you like if you plan to use them as baby shower favors.

    7. Cut out the mask. Take scissors and cut out a mask from foamiran, also do not forget to cut holes in it for the eyes.

    8. Make two small mounting holes for the ties on the sides of the mask. You need to make one hole on each edge of the mask at approximately the same level as the holes for the eyes.

      • A hole punch is perfect for this purpose, but you can also simply use the sharp tip of a pair of scissors.

    9. Attach elastic tape to the holes. Tie one end of a piece of braid from one edge of the mask, and the other from the other edge. The length of the elastic band should be sufficient to wrap around the back of the head.

      • Tie the elastic band with a double knot so that it cannot come undone.

    Method 2 of 4: Making a Cardboard Helmet Mask

    1. Cut out a large rectangle from black cardstock. The size of the rectangle should be such that you can completely wrap it around your head, and neither your hair nor your face will be visible.

      • Use a measuring tape to determine your head circumference. Increase the resulting measurement by 2.5 cm; the result will be the length of the rectangle.
      • Measure the height of your head, starting from the chin. Increase the measurement taken by 13 cm. This will be the width of the rectangle.
      • You can also use thin corrugated cardboard instead of regular cardboard.
      • If you can't find black cardstock, white and brown will also work. You just have to paint the finished mask black later.

    2. Draw the outlines of the top of the mask. At the top of the mask you need to draw ears.

      • Using a measuring tape, measure the distance between your ears. Start at the front point of one ear and run the tape measure across your face to the front point of the other ear.
      • Repeat the entire process with the back of your head. Start from the back of one ear and run the measuring tape from the back of your head to the back of your other ear.
      • Divide the back measurement in half and add 1.5 cm to the result. On the left side of the cardboard rectangle, draw a horizontal line of this length, 13 cm from the top edge. Similarly, draw the same line on the right side of the rectangle.
      • In the gap between the two lines, draw a third, which will be equal in length to the front measurement of the distance between the ears. There should be a distance of about 2.5-5 cm between the ends of this line and the ends of the other two lines.
      • From the ends of the center horizontal line, draw vertical lines going to the top edge of the rectangle.
      • From the top points of the vertical lines, draw curved lines going to the inner ends of the first two horizontal lines.

    3. Draw the outlines of the mask in the area of the mouth and chin. At the bottom of the mask, in the center, you need to draw two lines that look like triplets. One such triple will be correct, and the second will be mirrored. In the upper part the ends of these triplets should meet, but in the lower part they should not.

      • Measure the distance from the tip of your nose to your chin. It is at this level that the opening for the mouth should begin at the mask.
      • Measure the distance between the outer corners of your eyes. This distance should correspond to the width of the mouth slot.

    4. Finish the design of the lower contours of the mask. You will need to separate the mouth portion of the mask from the rest of the bottom edge.

      • Draw two arcs going up about 1.5 cm from the bottom ends of the triplets drawn earlier. The height of these arches should be approximately 7.5 cm, and the distance between the arches and triplets at the widest part should be about 5 cm.
      • As a result, you will have what looks like two fangs located on the sides of the mouth.
      • From the ends of the arcs you drew, draw horizontal lines. These lines should go to the side edges of the cardboard rectangle.

    5. Draw the outlines of the holes for the eyes. The eyes should be represented by two slightly slanted ovals, which will be slightly larger in size than your eyes.

      • The outer tips of the eye holes should be raised upward.
      • Measure the distance from the tip of your nose to the level of your lower eyelids to get an idea of where exactly to draw the ovals.

    6. Cut out the outlines of the mask. Cut the cardboard along the outline of all the lines you drew.

    7. Connect the ends of the mask. Gently twist the mask to align the back ends. Secure them with tape or glue.

      • You can overlap the ends of the mask within 1.5-2.5 cm.

    8. Cut out the part for the nose part of the mask. The nose part of the mask is made from a separate diamond-shaped piece of cardboard.

      • Measure the width and height of your nose. Add 0.5 cm to both measurements.
      • Draw a diamond shape in the corner of the new piece of cardboard. Its dimensions must correspond to the calculations performed.
      • Cut out a diamond shape and bend it vertically.

    9. Attach the nose piece to the mask. Draw a diamond-shaped outline of your nose on the main mask piece. They should exactly match the measured width and height of your nose.

      • Cut out this extra segment of the mask.
      • Glue the previously prepared nose piece in this place with glue or tape.

    10. Prepare the top of the mask. Attach another piece of cardboard to the top edge of the mask and trace the outline of the mask's circumference on it. Cut out the resulting circle.

    11. Attach the top to the mask. Apply a layer of glue along the entire top horizontal edge of the mask. Carefully place the prepared circle on the mask and press. Let the glue dry.

    Method 3 of 4: Making a mask from tape

    1. Cut a large oval from a plastic bag. Place the rest of the bag on your head so that your eyes, nose and mouth remain open.

      • The bag should cover your hair and the sides of your head. Any excess will be cut off later.
      • The bag will act as a protective layer between you and the tape.

    2. Cover the bag with tape. Cut pieces of tape about 12.5-20 cm long and stick them on the bag. You need to cover the bag completely so that you get something similar to a helmet made of tape. Be careful not to accidentally apply the tape to your skin or hair.

      • It will be easier for you to start working from the top of your head and work your way forward, sideways and then back.
      • Cover the area of the bag that covers your forehead. The tape should reach the level of the eyebrows, smoothly move into the areas covering the ears, and go further along the back of the neck.
      • It is best to use black tape. In this case, you won’t have to repaint the tape black later.

    3. Create the nose part of the mask. Fold a 10cm strip of tape lengthwise. Place it between the eyes on the nose and glue it to the front of the mask.

      • Attach another pair of folded 15cm strips to the mask, running from the nose to the ears. The result should be something resembling the letter "T", the top part of which goes directly under the eyes, and the bottom part covers the nose.
      • Be careful not to cover your mouth with the strips.
      • You should have some free space for your eyes.
      • To give the mask the shape of your face in the area of the cheeks and nose, cover this area with additional tape.

    4. Draw the contours of your nose onto the mask. You need to draw a triangle from the bridge of the nose to the wings of the nose.

    5. Cut out the nose part of the mask and glue the cardboard piece in this place. For the nose you will need to prepare two cardboard triangles. When they are ready, attach them to the nose of the mask using tape.

      • To perform this operation, it will be more convenient for you to temporarily remove your mask.
      • The cardboard triangles should be glued together in such a way as to create the pointed nose of the mask.

    6. Decorate the bottom of the mask. Take extra bags and tape to finish off the mask in the cheek area. For the cheeks you will need to cut out two polyethylene circles with a diameter of 10 cm.

      • Glue the prepared circles to a strip of tape running under the eyes. Cover them with additional tape, thus creating the front part of the mask.
      • The mouth and chin should remain open.

    7. Make the ears. Each ear should be made from three cardboard triangles connected to form a flat prism. The prepared ear prisms must be stuffed with newspapers and covered with tape.

      • Place your ears on the mask so that they overlap your real ears. Tape the ears with more tape.
      • When gluing the ears to the mask, you need to make sure that they fit more tightly to it and do not stick out to the sides.
      • There are no strict parameters for ear size, but they should generally be fairly long and narrow. The base of the ears should be about 5cm wide. The length of the ears should be approximately 15 cm.

    8. Finish the mask. Remove the mask from your head and properly complete the design of its bottom edge, nose and eye holes, once again using polyethylene and tape.

      • To prevent the mask from becoming wrinkled while working, stuff it with crumpled paper.
      • The eye holes should be oval shaped and approximately twice the size of your eyes.
      • Using tape, create a straight bottom edge of the mask, starting from the nose. Trim off any excess plastic that remains sticking out.
      • If desired, the mask can be pasted over with another layer of tape to hide some unevenness and give it greater density and strength.

    9. Try on the mask. At this stage it should already be completed.

      • If there is anything left that you are not happy with, continue finishing the mask while looking in the mirror.

    Method 4 of 4: Create a mask from a template

      Download the mask template. Save the template image to your computer so you can access it.

      Place thick paper in your printer. To print a mask template, you need thick paper to make the mask made from it more durable.

      • Change your printer settings to accept thick paper to ensure the printer feeds and prints properly.
    1. Print the template. Select the file you are going to use as a mask template, open it in a PDF reader or MS Word and print it.

      Cut out the mask. Take scissors and cut out the outline of the mask. Use scissors to pierce the paper in the areas under the eye holes and cut holes of the required size.

    2. Attach an elastic band to the mask. Take a hole punch and use it to punch holes for the ties on both ends of the mask. Tie an elastic band to them.

      • Tie one end of a piece of tape on one side of the mask and apply the mask to your face. Wrap the braid around the back of your head and determine the required length of the tie to secure it at the opposite end of the mask.
      • To prevent the mask from tearing at the places where the ties are attached when you wear it, secure these places with tape.
    • To make the mask as durable as possible, use thick cardboard to make it.
    • When creating a mask from tape, look at yourself in the mirror so that the shape of the mask is exactly what you need.
    • Strengthen the places where the mask ties are secured with tape so that they cannot break through the mask.

    How to sew a Batman costume with your own hands - job description

    Jacket for Batman costume

    I decided to simplify the pattern of the sweater for the Batman carnival costume as much as possible; I approximated it based on a T-shirt that just fit my son. To do this, lay the T-shirt flat on the floor, place a sheet of paper on top and draw the necessary lines: shoulder seams, bottom (we vary the length at our discretion), side seams.

    Since the stretch velor fabric stretches well, you don’t have to worry that the upper part of the suit will not fit well on the child.

    There’s also no need to be tricky with the sleeve: we just lengthen the pattern of the one on the T-shirt to the desired size. Here's what I got on paper.

    To cut, we simply fold the fabric with the front side inward (since we remember that we need to cut out 2 sleeves and one part each for the back and front) and, not forgetting about the seam allowances (we make them 1 cm wide), cut out the cut according to contour.

    Now let's take care of the muscles of our future Batman. I decided to make it from sheet synthetic padding: I copied the upper part (pectoral muscles) onto the padding polyester from the front pattern and then a rectangle - the “squares” of the abs. Unpretentious, easy to implement and effective!

    We also sew “biceps” onto the sleeves. We still have the superhero Batman costume! This means that everything must be in shape.

    Now we sew the shoulder seams of the jacket; then the side seams. After this you can sew on the sleeves.

    After assembling the product, we process the bottom of the jacket and sleeves.

    To process the neckline, I used a crepe satin hem. Then it will not puff up and stretch. In order to cut out a piece from crepe satin, take our basic pattern for the front and back of the suit, step back 4-5 centimeters from the collar cutout and draw a line parallel to the head. Cut out the curved strip that you have obtained from the crepe satin (don’t forget about the seam allowances), place it with the front part of it on the front part of the neckline on the velor (separately in front, separately in back) and lay a connecting seam. This is what we got.

    On the back we make a fastener from an air loop and a button.

    Don't forget to trim the edges of the fastener; I also use a hem.

    In general, our sweater from the New Year's Batman costume is ready, and now we can think about its decor. After watching more than one episode of this wonderful animated series with my son, I learned to draw the Batman emblem with my eyes closed. So, on the chest of our hero there should be a black emblem on a gold background. We make patterns and cut out the applique from the fabric.

    We will sew the applique on a machine, this is what we will get in the end. I also added gold sequins and a glitter outline along the fabric.

    Batman Costume Belt

    Now let's work on the belt of the legendary hero.

    You don’t need a special pattern, just cut out a rectangle from gold brocade with a width of 24 cm and a length equal to your child’s waist circumference +5 cm.

    We sew our belt by folding it in half lengthwise. We make decorative stitching.

    In order for the Batman belt to fit well on the child, we sew 3 rows of elastic at equal distances. It is better to sew the elastic so that it is not visible under the raincoat: on the wrong side of the belt and only in the part that falls on the back.

    Now the application. We cut out another emblem from artificial leather; The same paper layout that we used to decorate the sweater will do. I made the oval from black sequins.

    I decided to sew the appliqué for the belt by hand. Here's what you can see from the reverse side.

    How to make a Batman mask

    It's time to start the most difficult part of our Batman carnival costume - creating a mask with your own hands. Before starting work, I searched a lot on the Internet for various master classes and ideas, but I never found anything acceptable, although I must admit that I still tried to make it from papier-mâché. I won’t even describe what happened to me - darkness! Because, as always, on a sleepless night, a brilliant idea came to my mind. Use a regular black plastic carnival mask for the Batman mask.

    Having removed all the extra decor (braid at the top of the mask, ties, etc.), I sat down to pattern the top of the mask with the ears sticking out.

    Then, using the pattern, folding a piece of artificial leather in half, we cut out the most difficult part, after which we carefully glue the parts of our pattern to the mask on both sides. In order for the ears to stick out, using the same pattern, I cut out 2 pieces of cardboard and inserted them into the details of the ears of the Batman mask.

    The gluing process is quite labor-intensive, but doable; do not forget about safety precautions and remember that the fabric will not stick to the metal parts of the mask.

    According to the prototype from the cartoon, the hood that covers the head is missing. Let's make a pattern. We use velor for the hood.

    Sew the hood; We process the inner seam using the thermo-method using a candle.

    We sew the finished hood in three places to the Batman mask: near the ears and on the forehead. Then we try all this beauty on the child and grab the hood under the chin. Thus we get a mask-helmet.

    Batman costume

    We lay out the fabric (crepatin) on the floor and draw the future cloak on it.

    Cut out Batman's cape; The cut edge can be easily processed using a candle.

    Now we make a collar with two eyelets so that you can fasten the cape to the jacket of the Batman costume.

    Accordingly, we sew 2 buttons on the jacket just below the shoulder seam.

    Sewing trousers for a Batman costume is even easier: just make a pattern based on the trousers that currently fit the child (as we did with a T-shirt at the beginning of our master class), and sew a copy of them from velor, and the bottom can be gathered with elastic.

    That's it, our Batman carnival costume is ready!
