New Year is a family holiday and each family has their own rituals that make it special. They create the mood and truly unite us.

Today site collected stories about traditions that fill the holiday with wonders of comfort and warmth.

  • On the last Saturday before the New Year, dad always goes to fetch the tree, and we are all waiting for him and unpacking the toys that languished on the mezzanine all year round.
  • When everyone gathers at the New Year's table, we always say a compliment to each other. Last year, the most original one was from my sister: she said that I have the most beautiful ears in the family.
  • And here it is customary: whoever doesn’t cook Olivier doesn’t eat it. Therefore, on December 31, the whole family in one impulse spends in the kitchen, cuts salads and immediately eats half.
  • Every year we buy a new Christmas ball. The oldest survived already 54 trees - it was bought by my grandfather in the first year after the wedding with grandmother.
  • We make dumplings for the New Year. Every time. Hundred. Three generations. And when someone starts to grumble, they say, it is much easier to buy them, grandmother says that dumplings are the soul of the holiday. And you can't buy a soul.
  • We have such a tradition: on pieces of paper, everyone writes some prediction - for example, “there will be a big purchase” or “you will learn something unexpected about your soul mate” - then the pieces of paper are folded up and put in a box. Everyone in turn pulls out, everyone looks at what they come across, folds again, writes his name. They put it back in this magic box, and after a year they take it out and check whether it came true or not. And you know what? Almost everything comes true.

  • As a child, my mother collected sweet gifts with all sorts of goodies for my brother and me every year. We have not lived with our parents for a long time. Recently, my mother called and said that gifts are waiting for us under their tree. And at 26, I rushed to pick up a bag of sweets.
  • We live in a small town and always try to visit all our friends on New Year's Eve - at least drop by for a couple of minutes and congratulate. So no one feels lonely on a holiday.
  • When I was little, every year my mother and I made one toy for the Christmas tree with our own hands. As a teenager, I thought: “What is this nonsense, why does she hang them all the time, it would be better to buy normal balls”. And yesterday, together with my three-year-old son, we made a toy for our Christmas tree for the first time, and this little gnarled lamb made of a pine cone and colored paper seems to me the most beautiful toy in the world.
  • It's probably funny, but we still revise The Irony of Fate every year. Without her, the New Year is not a new one either.
  • And we do not buy a live Christmas tree for the New Year - we put an artificial one. We have it big, and dad always collects it. And the first toy is hung up by the youngest member of the family - my nephew. Dad picks him up in his arms, and he puts a gold star on the top of the tree.
  • I don't know where it came from, but what we do is this: you throw a piece of chocolate into a New Year's glass of champagne and look. If he surfaced, the year will be good, if he drowned - so-so. So, if you throw a not very large and rather flat piece - in any way, wait for a successful year. No surprises. Checked.
  • Three weeks before the holiday, we start counting down - we hang a special calendar on the refrigerator, which says "There are ... days left until the New Year." You can directly feel how you are approaching him.
  • We in the family always light a piece of paper with a desire to the chimes, pour the ashes with champagne and drink. This year, for the first time, he brought my girlfriend to celebrate with us. She looked at us with big eyes and then told me that, in fact, you can make a wish even without burnt cellulose. In general, she will have to somehow instill in her a love of romance.
  • We send New Year cards to friends and family. Everyone says: Internet, telephone, why is it needed at all? But the sensations from a "live", real postcard are not at all the same as from a picture on the Internet. You take it out of the mailbox, read the handwritten wishes, and it’s as if you’re getting a little warmer.
  • I always celebrate the New Year in the family. Friends, colleagues - it's all before or after. But on the night of the 1st - only at home. Olivier, tangerines and, of course, my mother's signature raspberry pie.
  • We have a special New Year's service - large, elegant, very beautiful. For me, it symbolizes the holiday better than all the trees and salads.
  • Since we got our little family, we celebrate with my husband and cat. But the next day, we will definitely go to our parents for last year's salads, I call it "for finishing." And the husband says that it is we with him - annoying and we need to give the parents a good night's sleep. But, no-no, I will not cancel this tradition for anything.
  • Every year we arrange a New Year's family photo session - we get together and take pictures by the Christmas tree. A whole album has already been collected: it is interesting to watch how everyone changes, but still stays together.
  • When the Christmas tree is decorated, we gather around it with the whole family, we say "Herringbone, burn!" and turn on the garland. From now on we are ready to celebrate the New Year.

"New Year" New Year! The most wonderful holiday! Night .. 12 hours. Chiming clock. President. Firework. Clinking glasses. Joy. Laugh. This holiday is met in different ways. But they want the same thing: happiness, good luck, health. New Year! Wonderful holiday! We are waiting for you! Come soon!

"New year's night" New Year's Eve is the most wonderful and magical night of the year. After all, millions of people of different nationalities, in different parts of our planet, do not sleep this night, as usual, but celebrate with their families and loved ones new year's eve- change of the old year to the new one.

"New Year" This joyful and beloved holiday, frosty and colorful New Year in our family it is customary to meet in a quiet and warm home environment, in the circle of dear and close people who sincerely enjoy each other's company. We are never bored together, and I always prefer a family feast to the company of cheerful peers.

"Favorite holiday - New Year" New Year is the best holiday in the world! From childhood, he remains in our hearts, and lives forever .. Every year we expect magic, trying to finally touch a miracle, a magical holiday!

And how much joy does New Year's chores bring? How many worries do they portend? And only during the chimes, we can breathe calmly and enjoy this unforgettable moment. Smells .. How many magical New Year's scents do we know? The smell of a Christmas tree, tangerines, we look forward to the smell of our favorite sweets and cakes, and of course the smell of a miracle who has visited the house! The heart is overflowing with joy at these moments! It's good that there is such New Year holiday!

About "New Year" New Year is a holiday that everyone loves very much. Although many peoples do not celebrate the New Year (for example, the British only celebrate Christmas), New Year's Eve is very much anticipated in Russia. In the new year there are a lot of treats on the table, sure - olivier and tangerines. Everyone is cheerful and happy, waiting for midnight. Probably everyone loves this wonderful holiday.

"New Years is soon!" New Year is coming soon! - a favorite holiday for children! Children are happy to play snowballs and go sledding. And the most wonderful thing is that Grandfather Frost will come and give the long-awaited gifts. At matinees and celebrating the New Year, the guys will have fun with Santa Claus and Snegurochka! All children love and look forward to the New Year!

"Why I love the New Year" Of all the holidays of the year, my favorite is New Year. Why? You ask.

First, you look forward to waiting for next year... You know that next year you will be one year older.

Secondly, you gather at the table with the whole family, counting how many seconds are left until the first of January. You open the gift and rejoice with your loved ones. It is especially joyful to give a gift with your own hands, presenting the face of the person being received, you are more happy than he is. Looking out the windows, you see the joyful faces of people holding sparklers.

Here why i like this holiday!

New Year is a good reason to add something new to your life. And it doesn't matter if your family is young or not - it's never too late to renew old traditions or come up with new ones!

Perhaps, these bright and joyful moments will be remembered by your child, will remember them with warmth after many years and will keep them in his family.

Here are some ideas for traditions, rituals, and just plain little things to take note of.

- Celebrate the New Year with your family.

Make an Advent calendar or countdown to New Years.

Craft Christmas toys and make a figurine of an animal symbolizing
coming year.

On the eve of the holiday, hide small gifts or notes from Santa Claus under the pillow for the child.

Place the harbingers of the holiday around the apartment.

A week before the New Year, give up everything tasty so that the holiday treats bring real joy not only to children, but also to adults!

- Collect unnecessary things and take them to charities.

Send homemade greeting cards.

Go to the library before the New Year and choose there a thematic book that you will read every evening.

Put on the shelf books about Christmas, New Year and just about winter themes. Read them on the eve of the holiday and throughout the winter, and then clean them up again. Every year, find new books that are suitable for children by age.

- Make a photo album with pictures of the most interesting and significant events of this
of the year. Before the holiday, watch the albums of previous years.

Write down the saddest, most offensive and unpleasant moments of the past year on paper, especially if they disturb your child (or you), and burn the list.

Write a list of promises and wishes for the next year. Read it next year and celebrate what we did. You can also cut and paste pictures from magazines if your child cannot write.

Before the New Year, change something in the interior of the house: rearrange furniture or replace covers and upholstery on it, change curtains, tablecloths, towels or a shower curtain.

For a holiday, get a New Year's service and a tablecloth. For example, handmade.

Make New Year's costumes for all family members and pets.

- Every year arrange a photo session for the whole family, including grandparents and other close relatives. Or just take pictures every year against the background of the Christmas tree. Over time, there will be more and more such photos, and it will be very interesting to watch how family members change.

Make a photo album with pictures of significant events of the past year. Remember and discuss the happiest moments.

Dress up the Christmas tree, prepare salads and decorate the apartment with good New Year's songs. It can be the soulful retro hits of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong or old Soviet songs.

Bake gingerbread or cookies. Collect all kinds of baking tins and decorations and make as many different gingerbread cookies as you can. Put them all in one bag and invite the guests to take out a gingerbread: what has fallen, is waiting for them in the coming year. You will have to show a lot of imagination to come up with what a squirrel, a clown, an asterisk or a house mean. Also, gingerbread can be hung on the tree and, starting from January 1st, eat one piece at a time, and when there is not a single gingerbread left, remove the tree.

- The youngest member of the family starts decorating the tree. The first one is to hang a homemade toy, for example, with the symbol of the coming year. Or start decorating the tree with a new toy every year.

When the tree is decorated, the whole family gather together, say in chorus: "Christmas tree, light up!" and include a garland.

Figure out how to give gifts on New Year's: discreetly put gifts under the tree so that the child opens them the night before or on New Year's Eve, put gifts in one large bag and then distribute to everyone, Santa Claus gives gifts, the child finds gifts under the tree for the next morning.

Give grandparents photo gifts every year.

Give gifts to all pets, be it a dog, hamster or aquarium fish.

Watch the whole family the same movie every year, such as Home Alone, Frosty, Carnival Night, Miracle on 34th Street.

- Leave a special gift under the tree for the apartment in which you live. It could be a new painting, carpet or even a "certificate" for the installation of windows or a new kitchen. And also smaller items, to replace those that over the years may have become unusable: a cup for toothbrushes, cutting boards, a trash can or a door mat.

Make peace with friends and relatives before the New Year, ask for forgiveness, so as not to bear resentment in the coming year.

To thank each of those gathered at the table for some specific spiritual qualities or actions. Or just take turns saying compliments and kind words to each other.

Put almonds in a cake or salad. Whoever gets caught will have a happy event in the New Year.

Put small gifts in the slippers every day until the Old New Year, if the child has not forgotten to put slippers under the tree. Also, gifts (for example, just candy) can be put under a pillow or in a Christmas sock.

- Every year make a gnome from the trunk of a tree that has served.

On Christmas Eve (the evening before Christmas), put twelve different dishes on the table, or at least twelve different foods.

Fortune telling at Christmas, for example with wax. Pour the melted wax into a bowl of water, and when it hardens, put it on a contrasting background and try to guess what kind of figure you get and what it reminds you of.

And relatives, etc. Others are unique to a particular culture. Who does not know that Italians throw old things out of the window on New Year's Eve, the Japanese ring bells, and the British stuff children's gifts into stockings? But, perhaps, the ones we love most are family traditions. It turns out a kind of paradox: on a holiday associated with renewal, expectation of something new, we wish each other "new happiness", "new luck", "new friends", and the holiday itself has long been overgrown with traditions, that is, unchanged, repeating each year of customs and rituals.

There is a belief that the New Year should be celebrated in new underwear, then the disease will not stick. We buy panties, T-shirts, socks, tights for all family members - everything that is "closer to the body". This is a good reason to acquire something special, something that you will not allow yourself at any other time.

In fact, this paradox is imaginary. On the one hand, the New Year's holiday is associated with the concept of "time", on the other hand, with childhood, therefore, one cannot do without following traditions. After all, family customs link people to the past. Children, albeit very young, are very fond of observing traditions, even the most insignificant ones, for example, a bedtime ritual or a family Sunday walk in the park.

Family values

Family traditions bring all relatives closer together, makes a family a family, and not just a community of blood relatives. Household customs and rituals can become a kind of inoculation against the separation of children from their parents, their mutual misunderstanding. And the New Years celebration is perfect for this purpose!

You can make it a tradition to create a beautiful New Year's composition under a Christmas tree or on a coffee table: lay out "drifts" of cotton wool, make trees from twigs, arrange small Christmas trees, figures of Santa Claus, Snow Maiden, forest animals, toy houses.

Any adult turns into a child the moment he crawls under the tree for his gift or dresses up in a costume for a home play. And children (today's adults and those who have returned to the country of their childhood) will always find a common language.

How they celebrate the New Year in my family.

(writing)

New Year is a long-awaited holiday for me and for my family.

Already at the beginning of December, the New Year atmosphere reigns around: people choose fluffy trees, buy Christmas tree decorations, prepare gifts for loved ones. Our family is no exception.

We are preparing for the New Year in advance. We clean the house, decorate the room with garlands, decorate the windows with patterns. Our tree stands in the room like a princess: tall and fluffy. Dad and I recently bought this tree, chose for a long time and chose such that now everyone who comes to us admires it. We bought a Christmas tree with dad, but we usually decorate it only with mom. This year my mother bought new Christmas decorations - painted balls. Very unusual and interesting. I like it. In addition to toys, we decorate the tree with small red bows. And on the top of the tree, I myself attach a shiny star. So we have the most beautiful Christmas tree.

Every New Year we celebrate with our family. Our grandmother and grandfather come to visit us. We are setting a large table. Mom and grandmother always prepare something unusual, non-routine for the festive table. This year we had a stew of goose, "New Year" and "Kozochka" salads. The jellied meat that my mother cooked the day before turned out to be very tasty. For me, the New Year is not a holiday if there is no Olivier and herring under a fur coat. Therefore, these salads also decorated our family New Year's table. And the scent of tangerines complemented the festive scent.

Five minutes before the chimes, we all listen carefully to the congratulations of the President of our country - V.V. Putin. I have great respect for him. I sympathize with the fact that the president goes in for sports, leads a healthy lifestyle, and knows several languages. I also like listening to him. Yes, just listen. Listen to his speech, competent speech. I believe that our president is a worthy president. Before the New Year 2015 V.V. Putin noted that we all "rejoice at the wonderful tradition of celebrating the New Year in the family circle" and "the year will be the way we make it ourselves." I will also remember his words about love for the Motherland: "The prosperity of our Motherland is formed from the happiness and success of each person", "Love for the Motherland is one of the most powerful, uplifting feelings." When you hear such words, you are filled with pride for your country, for Russia. These are the most exciting moments before the New Year.

And now the chimes are already striking ... We wish each other a Happy New Year, make a wish. Each of us enters the new year with the hope that all desires will come true, that the new year will bring us a lot of joy and goodness, that all loved ones will be healthy and happy.

When I was little, I always believed in Santa Claus. After the last blow of the chimes, he looked for gifts under the tree and always found them. I loved it! Now I want to believe that such a magical, long-awaited holiday of Santa Claus simply cannot but be. He is there. He always comes to our house, settles down near the tree and performs miracles. A miracle happened this time too. I got a new phone that I dreamed of. My wish came true!

I live in a small village called Afrikanda. During the holidays, we have a lot of fun. The center of the festivities is the village House of Culture. On New Year's Eve, near the tree, which is installed in front of the building of the House of Culture, you can meet all your friends. Families come to the mass festivities and fireworks. So many people can be seen only on New Year's Eve! Everyone wishes each other a Happy New Year, lights are on everywhere, colorful garlands are blinking in the windows of houses. The New Year's fireworks were especially spectacular this year. My friends and I filmed the fireworks. It turned out very colorful. There will be something to remember.

We return home happy, contented and a little tired. We sit down again at the festive table and drink aromatic tea with a cake to the fiery music on TV.

The morning of January 1st is coming soon. December 31 will be our past. It gets a little sad. Until next new year, a whole year! But I calm myself down and go to bed with the hope that next New Year we will also meet all together, in the family circle.
