The fabric is the size of the hoop or slightly larger. Any fabric can be used, most often it is canvas or linen. Everything will depend on the idea of the author himself. Will it be a single flower or a whole meadow? The bigger the idea, the more fabric need to.

Satin ribbons in several colors: light and dark pink, light and dark green, purple, brick, lilac and cream. You can change colors as desired. Roses can be absolutely any color.

Threads. Silk ones will look best, but regular ones will do just fine. Colors are selected in accordance with the ribbons.

Embroidery needles. It is advisable to purchase a whole set where all sizes are presented. This will prevent the formation of puffs and holes in the tape fabric.

Trying out ribbon embroidery on a simple web rose with your own hands

  1. 5 neat stitches are made with threads, which form rays coming out from one center. They must be the same. The size of the flower will depend on their size.
  2. Next, you can thread the ribbon through the needle. After this, a knot is made: almost at the very edge of the ribbon, a needle is stuck in the center and a knot is tied.
  3. Now you can start working on the rose itself. The needle is inserted into the fabric and immediately removed from the inside out. The tape must pass either under the beam or above it, always with the shiny side up. This is how a rose-web is embroidered in a spiral.

This is what the embroidery pattern looks like:

And this is what the finished roses look like:

We are studying the second option in the form of a bright and lush rose

First you need a core. For this, a piece of tape is taken (it can be a little darker than the main petals). The edge is taken in the hand, and the rest of the tape is wrapped around the edge, forming a tube. From below, the tube is fastened with matching threads.

The remaining part of the ribbon is slightly twisted in the hand, forming a voluminous petal. In this way, all the internal petals are made, each of which must be secured with a stitch. Ribbon and thread are cut. After that you get a beautiful bud:

The bud is sewn to the fabric. After this, the ribbon is threaded through the needle again and brought out from the inside to the front side. Then the needle is inserted below the puncture, and the tape is pulled out. You can’t pull it out to the end, you should get a loop. Using a needle, open the petal. We fix the thread on the wrong side. So all the petals are made in a circle.

The last row can be embroidered with lying petals. A loop is formed on the front side, a curl is created with a needle.

Here is such a lush rose:

In the same way, you can embroider peonies.

And the third type of rose embroidery is a French knot.

Rose French knot:
  1. We thread the tape into the needle. From the wrong side, the needle is displayed on the front.
  2. The tape wraps around the middle of the needle. After that, basting stitches are made along the entire length, as in assembly. The needle is inserted near its exit point and tightened a little. Everything, the rose is ready!

The French rose pattern looks like this

Using these types of roses, you can create a magical flower picture. It will decorate the bedroom or be a special gift for dear person. Here are some options for floral panels.

A heart made of flowers can be given to your significant other on Valentine's Day:

And looking at this picture, you can’t immediately understand that it is made just from ribbons. From a distance it seems that these flowers are real!

Delicate shades and large lush flowers - the ribbon is able to convey all the charm of a royal flower.

You can create such incredible works with your own hands, with a little practice using samples. You can embroider anything with ribbon: roses, daisies, poppies... After a little practice, you can draw a plan for your future masterpiece and begin to implement it. Such an exciting moment when each flower petal appears on the canvas in turn. These moments cannot be compared with anything!

There is nothing terrible about mistakes that happen at work. The main thing is not to give up your creativity, but to try again. Then everything will certainly work out.

Video on the topic of the article

Take a thread of the same tone as the ribbon. If the rose is two-color, then choose a medium-tone thread. We measure out five star-shaped rays on the canvas, which are evenly spaced from the center. And we make wide stitches with thread of the chosen tone. It is very important to secure the thread well on the wrong side, since the strength of the flower depends on this. We stretch the needle and ribbon at the center of the five rays.

We cover our first ray with ribbon and stretch the needle and ribbon under the second ray.

Now we cover the third ray and stretch the needle and ribbon under the fourth ray of our flower.

In a similar way, we alternate pulling the ribbon under and over the rays until the core of the rose is formed. Then we stick a needle and ribbon under the stitches, pull the ribbon to the wrong side and secure it.

Take a ribbon of a different color and stretch it to the front side. We continue to fill the space in the web in a similar way, forming the petals of the flower. Try to keep the stitches even and airy. When finished, pull the tape to the wrong side and secure it.

To obtain a more expressive and embossed rose, the ribbon can be slightly twisted as you work. Thus we get a very beautiful rose “Cobweb” from ribbons.

If you liked this material, share it with your friends on in social networks. Thank you!

Today we will tell you about another way to make a rose from ribbons - the “Cobweb” rose. It can be made both small and large, both from narrow and wide ribbons, both single-color and multi-color. Unlike several previous roses, master classes for the creation of which you will find on the pages of “Cross”, this rose is made directly on fabric, so it is often used in embroidered paintings.

The name “Cobweb” was given to this rose for a reason; it is performed on guides, the number of which should be necessarily odd and in their form somewhat resemble a web.

Let's cook necessary materials.

  • embroidery fabric
  • tapes of different widths (0.5 - 30 mm) and a length of about one meter
  • a needle and thread of the same color as the ribbon
  • scissors
  • lighter

Rose "Cobweb" made of narrow ribbons

First we will make a multi-color rose from narrow ribbons on five guides. Using her example, we will also show how a single-color rose is made.

First, we need to draw a Cobweb on the fabric, which consists of five guides, as in the picture below.

This is the minimum number of guides, but, I repeat, it must be odd. The length of the guides must be the same.

If you are not confident in your eye, then you can draw a circle using a compass (or make a stencil) with guides and transfer them from there to the fabric.

Trace something round on paper and cut out a circle. I took a small glass, you can take five kopecks.

The diameter of the circle should be approximately equal to or slightly smaller than the diameter of the rose you need.

Finding the center of the circle. To do this, fold it in half along the diameter and again in half along the radius.

Unfold, pierce the center with a needle.

On this circle we need to make five marks so that their arc length is the same, at least approximately. We mark the top.

Now imagine that this is a watch dial, with the hour hand at 12 o'clock. The next hour mark should be around 2:30 pm, then 5:00 pm, 7:00 pm, and 9:30 pm. This is how it should turn out.

Draw the center of the future rose on the embroidery fabric and apply a paper stencil, aligning the centers.

Let's start embroidering a rose

We thread a needle with a strong ribbon-colored thread (or two threads of floss), fasten it on the wrong side, as when sewing anywhere, but inside the circle and lay guides. You can simply make long stitches from the center to the marks on the fabric, but such a Web will be less reliable. Let's make it tougher.

From t. A to t. B (from the inside to the face) we make a stitch without tightening it to form a half-loop.

From t. About we bring out the needle and pick up the loop.

Now we do in t. About two stitches of EO and CO. We repeat the previous steps, but starting from point B, performing a half-loop BC. We will get a cobweb with five guides, two threads on each. We securely fasten the thread on the wrong side inside the cobweb.

Embroidery ribbons. Roses using the spider web technique

To embroider roses with ribbons, you will need a 7 mm wide ribbon and matching thread. For clarity, the example uses a thread of a contrasting color.

Tie a knot on the thread and make the base for the rosette using five straight stitches in the shape of a cobweb, the stitch length is about 1 cm. If you want to make a large rosette, there can be seven stitches, but there must be an odd number.

Bring the ribbon to the front side near the center of the web, securing it on the wrong side.

Start weaving the web by passing the needle alternately over and under the thread. The tape should lie freely. By weaving the web in the second circle, you can carefully move the first circle to the center with the eye of an additional needle.

Continue weaving the web until you reach the outer edge.

Bring the needle to the wrong side and secure. The rose is ready.
