childbirth

Every type of clothing has its own expiration date. With constant wear, the fabrics gradually wear out, which leads to the formation of holes.

This is very unpleasant, but you can fix the problem, so you need to know how to sew up a hole.

Fixing holes in jeans

Denim clothing is considered the most comfortable and practical clothing. But with prolonged wear, the product begins to quickly wipe.

There are several ways to help get rid of a hole in clothes:

  • sewing with a needle and thread;
  • fixing with a patch;
  • turning a hole into a fashionable slot.

The main thing is to show imagination. Then any hole will become stylish decoration denim trousers.

How to sew up a hole if it appeared in the knee area? In such a situation, a patch will help. Before you start work, you should choose a piece of fabric that would match the color of the jeans.

It is also worth paying attention to the form of the patch. It can be taken from any old jeans, while the patch can be a tone lighter or darker.

In addition to choosing the right patch, you need to think about choosing a thread. The best way- a thread of the same shade as the patch. An additional insert is sewn into the edges of the hole using a line seam.

The hole formed on the back pockets is advised to hide with the help of various applications. The advantage of this method is that the pictures do not need to be sewn in. They need to be put on the hole area and ironed with a hot iron. You can buy applications in the sewing departments.

It is much more difficult to hide the hole that has formed between the legs. It can be removed manually or with sewing machine. When using the second option, you need to perform a line in the form of a zigzag.

If there is no equipment, then the hole can be carefully sewn up by hand. To do this, turn the product on the wrong side. Grip the edges and darn with a tight seam.

Sewing holes: instructions

How to sew up a hole that appeared on the products?

Needlewomen give some important tips:

  1. You need to take a needle and thread. It should go well in color with torn clothes. If the fabric is dense, then the needle should be chosen thicker.
  2. The thread should be threaded into the needle. To make this process faster, the tip of the thread is slightly soaked with saliva or glue. If the eye of the needle is very narrow, then a needle threader will come to the rescue.
  3. To prevent the thread from coming out of the needle, you need to tie a knot at the end.
  4. Now you can proceed to the direct stitching. It is necessary to sew up damaged clothes from the wrong side. The edges of the torn seam are caught and well fixed with a thread.

During the whole process, you need to monitor how the seam looks on the front side. It should look even and neat. At the end of the procedure, a knot is made and the thread is cut off.

Sewing holes in socks

How to patch a hole in a sock so that it is invisible? To repair hosiery, you need a technique called darning.

To complete the procedure you will need:

  • sewing needle;
  • darning threads. You can also take thin synthetic threads;
  • small scissors;
  • a darning mushroom or an ordinary light bulb.

Socks are sewn manually according to the following rules:

  1. The hosiery is turned on the wrong side. And then it is pulled over a special mushroom or light bulb. This will help the product not wrinkle.
  2. All protruding threads are cut off. And around the entire perimeter of the hole, you need to walk with a seam called "forward with a needle." The seam is performed along the edge of the hole, making small indents two to three milliliters long.
  3. At the end of this procedure, the thread should be slightly pulled, and then secured with small stitches. Parallel seams must be laid along the surface of the hole.
  4. Darning is done with small stitches. They should grab not only the edges of the fabric, but also the holes made. Thus, it is necessary to lay several such rows.
  5. The thickness of the darning should not exceed the density of the product itself. To all this, do not overtighten the stitches. They should fit freely on the edges.

Removing a hole in pants, trousers or socks is not so difficult. Anyone can learn this business. But not everyone has this process going smoothly, especially if you need to beautifully restore the jacket.

So experienced housewives give some helpful tips:

  1. Before the procedure, you need to choose the shade of the thread. It should match the color of the product, not differ and be invisible.
  2. If you decide to apply a patch or application, it is better to first determine what size you need. It is worth remembering that the patch or application should be slightly larger than the hole itself.
  3. You can sew on the patch both from the front and from the wrong side.
  4. During stitching, no gaps should be left between the seams. Such a line will not only not be beautiful, but will also quickly break.

If there is not enough sewing knowledge or there are no necessary materials at hand, then you should visit the atelier. They will restore the thing in a short period of time.

This is an old story
In an immemorial year, a coat bought (not at a "ridiculous" price!) for my daughter on a synthetic winterizer (warm, well-made inside, comfortable) peeled off in many prominent places (sleeves, pockets, shoulders, collar, side seams, back). You can wash according to the instructions, but the film coating could not stand even the very socks.

Well, spending 1500-2000 rubles on a new coat for the second year in a row, + throwing away my daughter’s favorite coat seems impractical for me. so I came up with a simple and bright solution. Close all defects crocheted elements. I knit primitively. Therefore, I knitted with simple single crochets, but used bright threads. Lots of leftovers from my grandmother's knitting.
Bright striped cuffs-armlets appeared on the sleeves, and small defects were covered with colored circles. Stripes appeared along the seams of the sleeves. I tucked the flaps of the pockets inward and secured them with elements sewn on the outside.

The coat was saved, my daughter is happy with the new thing, and I am glad that my grandmother's supplies from the Soviet times went into business and the fact that not a penny was spent on it !!! Then the fabric, i.e. the film crawled farther and worse and therefore the coat was overgrown with outlandish stripes and rainbow-looking circles))))
This coat has already completed its earthly journey. I disassembled it into its components)) But the knitted details were carefully removed, washed and are waiting for a new home, where they could nest just as comfortably))) I look with an expression at my old pea jacket with worn cuffs...
By the way, my daughter became sooo noticeable in her difficult teenage years and she got a funny nickname TRAFFIC LIGHT))) And she was not offended, but laughed and joked about it, as it is customary in our yard))) So I am the mother of the Traffic Light, if sho)))

Holes on knitwear tend to appear as if from nowhere! How to sew up a hole in a T-shirt quickly and as discreetly as possible - life hack + video.

Small holes especially "like" to appear on rather thin cotton jersey. Most often we find them on our favorite T-shirts or T-shirts after washing. It would seem a trifle, but the look of the thing is not the same - especially if the hole appeared in a conspicuous place.

Photo: thethriftyneedle.wordpress.com

If the hole is not stitched up, it is likely to grow larger soon. If you sew up a hole with ordinary threads, the repair site can be quite noticeable, plus the fabric can shrink ...

However, the craftsmen found a way out. To your attention - a life hack: how to repair a hole in knitwear as discreetly as possible with your own hands.

You will need:

  • very thin needle - such, for example, are used for beading;
  • unnecessary kapron stocking or tights in a color that is as close as possible in color to your T-shirt;
  • needle threader;
  • iron.

Work sequence:

1. We pull a thin thread from the stocking.

2. Thread the needle with a needle threader. We do not tie a knot!

3. We begin to collect the edges of the hole on the knitwear with a needle, catching the loops. We catch holes in the loop from below and from above - and tighten the stitch. We work from the front side of the jersey. We try not to tighten the fabric too much.

4. After completing the work, we bring the needle to the wrong side. We check if there are any unpicked loops of knitwear left. If necessary, we collect them.

5. We fix the thread with a few stitches and cut the thread.

6. We straighten the knitwear and iron the place of repair from the inside. The kapron thread will change its shape due to temperature and fix the knitwear in a straightened form, without tightening.

My greetings to all! On the knitwear most often small holes are formed. We will answer the question: how to sew up a small hole on T-shirts, pants, dresses so that it does not stand out and clothes can be worn.

Invisible darning

On any clothing, but especially on knitwear, a tiny hole can simply appear out of nowhere, ruining the whole look. Most often they are found after washing. The thing is good, but it is no longer possible to wear it, what should I do?

So that the hold does not increase in size, we will try to sew it up, so that it is not visible. If you start working with simple threads, then you can pull off the matter and this place will catch your eye.

Let's not rush.

  • Take the thinnest needle, the one used by embroiderers with beads.
  • Find tights that match the color of your T-shirt or are neutral.

Stages of work:

  1. Pull the thread out of the tights.
  2. Thread into the needle with a needle threader. Do not tie a knot!
  3. We work from the front side of the product. Carefully collect all the loops with a needle. We catch them from below and from above, one loop at a time, then we make a stitch without pulling the fabric together.
  4. After finishing darning, bring the needle to the wrong side.
  5. We fix the thread with a couple of stitches, then cut it off.
  6. We straighten the fabric, iron the place of repair with an iron from the inside. The nylon thread will melt slightly under the influence of high temperature, thereby closing the hole.

Repairing things without a needle

It's sad when a small hole is found on a T-shirt. T-shirt can be thrown away, but it is better to repair. We can still throw it away!

This method is not suitable for silk or wool products.

There will be no trace left on a knitted T-shirt if you do this work:

  • Turn the product inside out.
  • Bring the edges of the hole together.
  • Put a tape for gluing fabric on it, and interlining on top.
  • Put a small piece of white fabric on all this so that the design does not move.
  • Spray the fabric with a spray bottle. Then put the heated iron in place of the patches, hold for 10 seconds.
  • Remove the fabric, turn the product inside out.

How to repair a sock

This problem is familiar to every hostess.

Stages of work:

Repair of thick knitwear

The demonstrated method is suitable for any item made of thick knitwear, including woolen socks.

Operating procedure:

How to raise the loops at the seam

Stages of work:

If such a hole, as in the picture below, then take the tone-on-tone threads.

Three ways of darning

This method is suitable for repairs in inconspicuous places.

Darning pattern the classic way:

Before starting work, thread around the hole to save the fabric from stretching. After work, it will need to be pulled out.

The next option is to glue the adhesive material from the inside, then make embroidery on it. And you can make a patch on the "cobweb", glue it, then make embroidery on it.

For the most experienced dressmakers, such options are suitable.

Torn clothes are always annoying. Especially sad if spoiled new thing or one that you especially like and fit well. No one is immune from such troubles. When a restless child grows in the house, you have to deal with mending clothes regularly, each time thinking out how to properly sew up the hole so that it is not visible that the thing is damaged. The method of masking usually depends on the nature of the damage to the clothing and the type of fabric.

Normal Gap

In the event that we are talking about a normal tear or crack in the fabric along the seam, they usually proceed as follows:

  1. The thing is turned inside out.
  2. The edges of the fabric are attached to each other, fixed with a line seam.
  3. The edges are overcast.

Often, the edges are also simply sewn on the wrong side with one of the overcast seams (over the edge or looped).

You should not select too wide a layer of fabric, but still it should be sufficient for the threads to hook on an undamaged area. If the stitches are too close to the edge, they will "pull" the threads out of the fabric and the hole will appear again, only larger.

In the event that the breakthrough is small and not in the most visible place, after repairing the clothes in the above way, it will hardly be noticeable. The main thing is to do everything carefully and pick up the threads of the desired tone and size.

How to patch a hole

If there is not just a small breakthrough, but a real hole, then it should be mended or plastered. Just sewing it up will not work - it will be too noticeable.

Stitching and darning are, in fact, the same process, with the only difference being that they darn knitted items, having previously laid them on something convex.

Darning (or stuffing) is carried out as follows:

  1. Stretch the fabric with the right side facing you.
  2. Pick up threads that completely resemble the threads of the matter from which the thing is sewn. If necessary, you can pull the thread out of the thing itself from the edge on the wrong side.
  3. Each stitch hooks on a strong part of the matter and is led to the opposite side, a meager stitch is made there, then with the next stitch the needle returns to the previous side.
  4. First, the entire area is darned in one direction, then in a direction perpendicular to it. In this case, the stitches are carried out in waves: the needle goes over one thread, then goes under the second, then goes over the third and so on. A kind of lattice of threads is created.

When darning clothes, you should try to make the general outline of the darned area resemble a circle. With a successful selection of thread and careful work, the darned area is almost invisible, at least not striking.

Applying a patch

When the edges of the hole are torn and crooked, it is advisable to apply a patch. To do this, the edges of the break are cut in such a way that they resemble a clear geometric figure that best suits the pattern on the fabric: a circle, a rhombus, a square. The patch for the patch is usually recommended to match the color of the fabric, preferably with the same pattern. As a rule, a suitable scrap is attached to the clothes. Previously, it is recommended to wash it in hot water, because if it sits down after being sewn to the product, “wrinkles” will appear.

The flap is applied to the wrong side of the repaired product with the front side, so that the pattern or equity threads match. First, the patch is attached to the product with a basting stitch. Then the edges of the patch are folded over and sewn with a blind seam. The next step is to fold over the hole itself (of course, inside) and hem it. You should also use . Now you can remove the basting thread and iron the patch with an iron.

Unfortunately, even with very great effort, the patch usually remains noticeable to a greater or lesser extent.

However, there is an extraordinary way out of this situation - to impose a deliberately noticeable patch of a contrasting color. In this case, everything will look as if she is decorating the product, and not trying to hide the hole.

Thermal patches can also be used for this purpose. They look stylish and are very easy to apply: it is enough to iron them with a hot iron and they stick almost “tightly”. Experience shows that high-quality thermal stickers hold even after repeated washing.
