Volumetric origami stars. How to make a three-dimensional star out of paper with your own hands Stars from paper ribbons

Cytomegalovirus

Good afternoon, today I am publishing an article in which I have collected a variety of ways to make New Year’s stars with your own hands. We will make stars paper, cardboard, sew stars from felt, crochet them. You will see simple christmas crafts, accessible to children, as well as complex designs in the shape of a star.

Here are the ideas I collected today in one general pile:

  • Stars made from strips of paper using the quilling technique.
  • Transparent stars with stained glass film.
  • Three-dimensional stars in 3D technology.
  • New Year stars window stickers.
  • New Year's garlands with stars.
  • Six-pointed stars with convex edges.
  • Stars made from cardboard modules.
  • New Year's stars from the newspaper.

So let's start our New Year's star crafts.

Craft idea #1

Paper star

using the QUILING technique.

Here is the first idea - a New Year's star made from strips of paper, twisted and glued using quilling technique.

Even if you are not yet familiar with the technique of twisting paper strips, then you just need look carefully See the photo below to understand how this paper star is made.

First, we assemble the paper strips individually five rays– and then glue them together.

In the photo below, I even highlighted each detail of the paper strips separately - in different colors.

Each ray of a star consists of three short oval twists of paper strips - light green lines. One twist is longer – orange line. AND one rolled paper tape , which wraps all these twists together - in the form of a single frame - the pink line in the photo below.

You yourself will be pleased with how quickly your homemade New Year's paper star turned out. You can make several of these and hang them on the New Year tree as a decoration.

And using a very similar principle, we can create stars like this. This is also essentially QUILLING. But here the shapes are no longer so smooth and rounded, but more clear and faceted. But the principle is the same.

If you look closely at the photo below, you will see that each of the rays of the star is 2 triangles glued together its longest of three sides.

That is, we cut 10 identical strips of paper. From each we make a paper triangle. We divide all ten triangles into pairs. And we glue each pair together with the long side. We get five rays future star made of paper. Glue the rays together. We close the center of the gluing with an asterisk. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top beam so that you can hang it on the tree by a thread.

New Year's star

FROM toilet paper rolls

And here is the next DIY star idea similar to the previous technique because here, too, round paper loops are glued together. Only the loops here are not glued together from paper strips, but are Cuts from a toilet paper roll– and a transparent colored film (cling film or colored tape) is stretched over each section.

.

We will need a roll of paper towels or toilet paper. And we will also need multi-colored transparent pieces of film to cover our paper blanks for the star.

Where to get transparent color film for this New Year's star craft.

Option 1 – food grade colored polyethylene.

Option 2 – colored transparent candy wrappers.

Option 3 – colored transparent packaging from bouquets, or gift wrapping in stores with a gift design department.

Option 4 - colored wide tape - sold in construction or finishing stores.

Option 5 - transparent finishing film from a hardware store. It is sold in large rolls, like wallpaper - but they can be bought in any pieces - at least 1 meter, at least 10 cm - cut off from the roll and sold. But first you need to make sure that this film, when separated from the paper base, gives a transparent color - that is, it transmits light. Check it right in the store - peel off a corner of the film from the paper base right on the roll and check it for transparency.

How we will make New Year's transparent stars.

We cut the paper roll into identical ring parts - and bend these parts ray shapes And mid-pentagon for our future star.

To fold the pentagonal center, you need measure the circumference of the roll and divide it into 5 equal parts. And bend in the places marked with a pencil.

And now for every ray of our star we must bend BASE, which in length will coincide with the length of the side of the pentagonal center. To do this, bend the roll along the edge and measure with a ruler half the length of the side of the pentagonal center stars.

Using the same principle, we wrap the remaining rays of the cardboard star in film (or colored tape).

And now our task is to glue all the parts of the star into one - connect the rays with the middle.

The easiest way is a piece of double-sided tape. Scotch tape with sticky edges on both sides.

Or you can spread it with PVA glue and dry it in a pressed form - squeeze it with clothespins

And when assembled, such a star is hung near the window so that it lets in the light and looks like a New Year's glass craft.

By the way.

If you have a glass cutter and colorful pieces of glass left over from old interior doors, then you can make real glass New Year's stars.

Craft idea No. 3

New Year's star

using the VEER technique.

In the photo below we see a six-pointed star made of paper. Even a child can do it in a children's art group. You don’t need to draw anything with a compass or make complex calculations. All you need is 1 square sheet of paper, folded into a fan. And another square of newsprint (smaller in size).

A Master Class How to make such a New Year's star with your own hands looks like this. Fold the square sheet into a fan like this: to make six sides– that is, three folds of the fan only (as in the photo below).

Can I get a sheet right away? measure the width and divide this figure into 6 equal parts. And mark these parts with a pencil and make folds along these marks - then we will get a fan of six identical accordion blades.

And if you make patterned slits in such a star (like in a snowflake), you will get a patterned New Year's star made of paper - with a beautiful openwork pattern on its rays.

That is, we supplement the fan itself (still folded) with slits. And then we stitch the middle of the fan with a staple, fold it in half, unfold it in a circle and glue the blades of the meeting halves together.

Craft idea #4

New Year's star

from twisted triangles.

Here we see a seven-pointed star made of paper. Due to the abundance of rays, it looks more like a snowflake. But if you change the shape of the triangle to a more elongated one, you can get a design with five rays. We place each such tube on a round paper base coated with glue.

Craft idea #5

Paper stars

In the form of a garland.

A paper star is often used as an element of a New Year's garland. Here I propose to consider three ways to make such a star garland for the New Year.

Option #1. Here is the easiest and fastest way to put stars on a thread. You need a sewing machine and star silhouettes cut out of cardboard.

Thread the thread into the sewing machine, place a star under the machine foot and machine stitch through the star. Moreover, when the line reaches the edge of the star, we do not stop the machine but continue to sew to get a long thread twisted into the line. After a few centimeters of such an empty chain line, we again place a cardboard star.

Option #2. You can make a garland of voluminous stars using the same principle. They are made according to the krishka principle - several star silhouettes made of paper are placed on top of each other and fastened with a common machine seam. Or first you can paper clip these multi-layer stars.

For a garland of paper stars, it is not at all necessary to buy colored paper. You can use pages from old books or a musical staff.

Option #3.

Or you can make a garland of voluminous stars with smoothed edges. If you make holes in such paper stars with a hole punch, then you can stretch the thread through them and we will get a starry New Year's garland.

Here is a clear master class that clearly shows how to make such a three-dimensional 3D star from cardboard with your own hands. As we can see, with a sharp stick under the ruler we iron the arrows of the star. And then the ironed lines will easily bend into the convex folds we need. And we will get a star with faceted rays.

We bend those lines that lead from the center to the tip of the beam outward. And we bend the lines that lead from the center to the interradial point inward.

Craft idea #6

New Year's star

with smoothed edges.

But below is another simple way to make a star out of paper. Here you need a template (the star drawing itself) and a ruler with which we will smooth out equal folds of each face of such a star.

Look at the picture and you will see that this is a simple flat six-pointed star. It was cut out from a flat sheet of paper. And then each edge was bent - in sequence we bend one edge outward, and bend the next edge inward.

To draw a six-pointed star on paper yourself, you can use ruler or compass. First, we measure the distance from the middle of the circle to its edge (that is, we find out the radius of the circle). And then we measure this radius along the entire circumference with a ruler or compass. Only six of these radii fit along the entire circle. These marks will be the points of the rays of our star with six rays.

Or you can use the ready-made stencil in the picture below. You can trace it directly from your computer screen, just place a piece of paper on the glowing screen - the star will shine through the paper - and use light pencil lines to trace the outlines (or just the corner points). And then remove the sheet from the screen and circle everything with a bold line.

If you want to increase or decrease size pictures on the screen, this can be done using the buttons of your computer.

Press the button with your left hand Ctrl on your keyboard (it's on the bottom row on the left) - and while the button is pressed, you use your right hand turn the mouse wheel- forward to increase, back to decrease. And the size of all pictures on the screen changes, increasing or decreasing.

Craft idea No. 7

New Year's star

From paper modules.

But here is a star made of paper, which is folded by connecting individual paper modules together. How exactly to fold such a star out of paper is shown in detail in the diagram below.

These paper New Year stars can be made as independent Christmas tree decorations. As a decorative star for New Year's decorations. Or you can dot a ring for an Advent wreath with these paper stars.

Craft idea #8

New Year's star

From cardboard.

Here's a simple craft volumetric New Year's star, made of cardboard. Here (as you see in the photo) you need to cut out two identical silhouettes of a five-pointed star from cardboard.

After in each make a cardboard star cut with scissors - in a straight line, leading from the lower interbeam to the upper apex of the beam - but don’t finish it to the end, and stop at the central point of the star.

When we we place one slot on the slot of the second cardboard star– we get a cross-shaped connection of two strips (perpendicular to each other). In the end it turns out 3D star.

Here's an option when 2 stars, also cut out of thick cardboard, do not fit on top of each other - but simply lie on top of each other so that the rays of the upper star are located between the rays of the lower star. If you make openwork slits in such a cardboard star with a blade, the star will look more elegant. And the gold sprinkles will make such a New Year's star completely festive.

Craft idea No. 9

Cardboard stars

DOUBLE SIDED.

Method 1 – four-beam blank

You can make a star with four rays out of paper - then make the same second one and connect them together.

Here is a detailed master class describing how to make 2 blanks with your own hands and connect them together into one star.

Method 1 – three-beam blank.

And these three-dimensional paper stars are also made from two modules, glued one to the other. Only here the module is not made of four beams, but of three.

In flat form, this module has this triangular shape with notches and fasteners on all three sides.

We bend the module along the longitudinal line of each of the three corners of the triangle. The cut modules are placed on top of each other using notch-serifs. And it turns out a three-dimensional star with six rays.

Craft idea #10

Paper stars

Using ORIGAMI technique

You can make a star using the origami technique. That is, from an ordinary square sheet of paper WITHOUT USING SCISSORS. This is what distinguishes the fashionable Japanese technique of origami - the art of transforming a square plane into a figure of any complexity.

This star is also obtained from one square sheet of paper. But the process looks quite complicated. But once you understand it, you understand the speed and ease with which these stars appear. And having made 4 such stars, you acquire high-speed automation and can add stars almost blindly.

Here is another star made using the origami technique. Where a paper module is made from a square sheet. And from such ray modules we create a solid star made of paper.

Craft idea No. 11

New Year's stars

Transparent for the window.

You can make a star out of paper to stick it on the window. Such stars look very elegant. And this is an alternative to the classic paper snowflakes that we are all used to gluing to windows during the Christmas holidays.

Making such a New Year's star out of paper is quite simple. A strip of paper is folded in half. Its ends are curved to give it a pointed shape. We attach the resulting module to a round base sheet. Or we immediately attach it to the window - to an imaginary circle.

Depending on the shape of the folds we made to give the pointed shape to our rectangle, we will get different shapes of the star's rays. Thus, by showing some EXPERIMENTAL creativity, we will be able to create more and more designer New Year’s stars for the window.

New Year's stars

from a rolled up newspaper.

And here is another star made of paper - or rather, from a sheet of newspaper. Here a thin twist is made from a newspaper spread. You can place copper wire inside the twisted newspaper - this will give additional rigidity to the bent star frame.

After this, the blank star from the newspaper can be decorated. Paint it with paint, wrap it with thread, coat it with glue and cover it with glitter. Or something else according to your imagination.

These are the ideas I have collected for you in this article. Now you know quite a lot of ways to make a star out of paper with your mind and your own hands.

Happy New Year to the author of this article, Olga Klishevskaya.

Print 2 blanks.
Cut out both stars and decorate them as desired. Bend back the places for gluing and carefully push the lines indicated by the dotted line with a blunt thin object.
Now glue the 2 halves together. The result is a three-dimensional star.

3D origami star

3D origami star

Would you have thought that such stars can be done with just one handy strip of paper and nothing else?

I didn’t believe it either until I tried to make one DIY 3D origami star. I managed!

In general, meet the new origami craft, asterisk.

As always I present Master Class, so that you can also plunge headlong into the pool of spinning stars.

Preparatory stage

It’s quite simple to make one, its main advantage is that nothing special, complicated or special is needed for it. All you need is paper, cut into strips.

I used paper width about 1 cm. You can also make a star from a strip about 1/2 cm wide, but it turns out to be very miniature, so the work becomes more complicated. A wider strip makes a rather rough star, so a width of about 1 cm is ideal.

paper You can take almost any kind, I just don’t recommend taking something too thick, which is difficult to bend, but newspaper, magazine, and any other paper will do. For example, I used wax paper and used gift wrapping paper. Very beautiful stars are obtained from colored glossy magazines.

Plus this stars The point is that the paper can be beautiful and colored only on one side, the reverse of the paper will not be visible.

We cut the selected paper stripes. With a strip width of 1 cm, about 26 cm in length is sufficient, but as I realized during the work, it is much easier to first glue all the strips together, and then simply tear off or cut off after finishing winding the next star. It’s probably convenient to make such stars from paper serpentine, but I didn’t have any on hand.

Origami star base

Now you need to roll the prepared paper strip basis future star. It will be a regular pentagon. I never thought that a regular pentagon could be folded so easily from a strip of paper, but it is so. We make a loop, pass the tip down through it, and tie a knot from paper tape. The moment is crucial, here the strip should not be too tight, but not too loose, so that in the corners the parts of the strip are close to each other. We bend the tail back so that it is not visible from this side. Now let's begin wind the tape. This needs to be done quite tightly. First of all, we direct the working end of the paper strip to where we just folded the tail so that it is not visible. So that same regular pentagon emerged - the basis of the origami paper star.

Winding an origami star

We do not flatten the paper at the edges of the pentagon, we just tightly bend it around its side. After this, we bend the tape inside out and direct it upward to the right, bend around this side of the pentagon, and direct the tape downward to the left. Now the tape itself should lie in the right direction (if you folded the pentagon correctly). Move the tape to the right. In general, you now need to go around each side of the pentagon a couple of times. This is true if you are making a star from a very long strip of paper that you will cut into pieces; if your paper is about 30 cm long, then go around the pentagon until the paper tape runs out. We continue to wind the tape, going around the edges of the pentagon.

Give the star volume

When the tip of the paper tape remains approximately 1-1.5 cm long, you need to hide it under the previous turn of the tape, thus securing it. We receive a ready-made “semi-finished product” stars, which now needs to be given volume. This is the second crucial moment in working on the asterisk. It is convenient to add volume with a short nail. The nail should be directed across the middle of each side of the pentagon. Meanwhile, we hold the workpiece by the edges with the other hand (without squeezing the planes of the pentagons, so as not to interfere with the star becoming three-dimensional). We try to bend all sides stars approximately the same towards the center. In the photo you see asterisk from the side and ready-made star. Finished sizes stars- about 1.5 cm in diameter. And another STAR Star made using origami technique

Star made using origami technique

Star always relevant: New Year you can see it at the top of the Christmas tree, you can get a star from the sky for your beloved on Valentine's Day, stars are strongly associated with Day of Defenders of the Fatherland. They also say that when a new person is born, a new star lights up in the sky, why not light up a small star in honor of the newborn on a postcard (and give it to happy parents)? The star may be guiding, give people going on a journey a star so that their path will be illuminated with it and good luck will accompany them. The stars accompany us throughout our lives. Do you know how to do DIY stars? In this article I will tell you how to do handmade star using the paper folding technique. The idea was taken from this site (igrushka.kz/vip77/salf7.php). To make a star, I cut it out of a yellow sheet of A4 paper 10 square leaves measuring 7x7 cm (5 leaves for each star). If you have a block of square colored pieces of paper for notes, then you can use them. To make a block, first of all, bend a piece of paper onto four parts: Bend all corners of the square in the direction to the center: Revealing back two corners lying opposite each other: Now we bend the sheet in half along a horizontal line: Such blocks need to be made for one star five. Now we insert the blocks into each other, the remaining unbent corners (which we folded and then straightened again) will act as tongues that will hold the entire star structure without any glue: Be careful. Blocks must fit each other: the mounting corner of the right block is inside the left one, and the left one is inside the right one: We continue to put blocks into each other handmade star, now four blocks have already been stacked, the last one remains: Insert the last block and enjoy the result handmade star: From the “wrong side” hand-made star, looks no less beautiful: I glued it to one of the corners loop with PVA glue: The only thing that didn’t suit me about this star was that it was quite easily bent and unbent, from a beautiful pointed shape it became flatter, so I decided to make exactly the same second star and glue it into the first one from the inside out. To give handmade star hardness: mine handmade paper star took more rigid form: Then I still wanted New Year’s decor, I armed myself with a golden outline and began to draw various “squiggles”: After the outline froze, I glued gold ones on top of it here and there stars and snowflakes: From such a paper star you can make not only Christmas tree toy, by gluing a loop into one of the rays, but also tree top, gluing a cardboard tube between the two rays of the star to insert the top of the barrel. And it's not far off yet February 23. Small voluminous stars, made by yourself, may well decorate a gift or postcard. Please note that the back of the star is not flat. If you do not glue a second star at the back for strength, then your decorative element can be glued to postcard in only five points (“hollows” between the rays), so you will need very good glue (a regular glue stick for paper will not hold the star on the card). Well, if you glue a second star at the back, it will become double-convex (so if you plan to use star for decorating handmade cards, then I advise you not to do this). The star looks beautiful and very stylish even without additional decorations. What they will be and whether they will be at all is up to you to decide! I wish you stellar creative success!

For interior decoration or themed holidays, a decorative element such as a star is often used. There are a lot of variations on the theme of making a star: large and small, voluminous and flat, double or single. Materials for making crafts also vary significantly. This can be paper, fabric, foil, wire and other available means. In this article we will look at the most popular formats for making paper stars. Well, the task will be made easier by a selection of thematic photos, detailed diagrams and video material from a master class on making a star with your own hands.

How to make a small star out of paper

These stars are small (1.5 cm), but in large quantities they look very impressive and original.

To work, you will need colored or glossy paper (you can also use old glossy magazines) and scissors.

  • First, blanks are made: strips of paper are cut, measuring 29x1.1 cm. The width and length of the strips can be changed according to the desired size of the future star.
  • Make a small loop from the strip (at the edge), then bend the protruding short end. It turns out to be a pentagonal figure, press it lightly.
  • Turn the product over (pentagon) and continue working with the long end of the strip.
  • We begin to tightly wrap the pentagonal figure with the strip, gradually, without squeezing it too much. There are at least 10 similar wraps, that is, each side of the star is wrapped twice.
  • Hide the remaining edge of the strip underneath.
  • The next stage: turning the pentagon into a full-fledged star. Holding the workpiece with one hand, use the nail of the other hand to press on the middle of the face of the pentagon, forming the rays of an asterisk. Five pressures - and the star is ready!

  • Such stars look very stylish in the interior: you can fill a glass vase or jar with them. And if you do this activity with your children, your finger motor skills will be great.

How to make a 3D star out of paper

To make such three-dimensional stars you will need thick decorative paper, scissors and glue.

  • Draw blanks for the rays of the star, print and transfer to the desired paper.
  • Bend along the lines and glue along the edge (allowances for gluing are given).
  • Then, glue the five prepared templates together, getting a three-dimensional star.

  • The size of the stars can be adjusted independently by increasing or decreasing the size of the template.

How to make an origami star out of paper

Such stars look great and stylish from newspaper or music paper.

  • Fold the square-shaped sheet in half, then bend the triangle of one of the vertices.
  • Do the same maneuver with the other vertex of the rectangle.
  • Place the opposite corner of the rectangle at the intersection point of the previous folds.

  • Next, bend the rays of the future star along the drawn lines. The remaining shapeless tail of the workpiece is cut off.
  • If all folds are performed correctly, you can see a pentagon pattern on the spread.

  • The final stage is the most difficult. To get a star, you need to carefully bend and wrap the resulting template along the lines.

So, in this article, the most popular methods of making a paper star were discussed. Completely different in appearance and manufacturing method, the presented options will fit perfectly into the festive interior and become a spectacular decoration.

As a rule, the older a person gets, the more nostalgic he begins to remember his childhood years. For many adults today, this time is permeated with Soviet symbols, among which red stars can be noted.

In this master class I will show several options on how to make a paper star with your own hands with step-by-step photographs. This five-pointed symbol may still be relevant today. For example, a red star is perfect as or for decorating a New Year's interior. It is not difficult to make it from paper, focusing on the proposed master classes.

01. DIY voluminous paper star

To create a three-dimensional star, we will need to prepare:

  • red paper;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • PVA glue.

First, cut out 5 squares of the same size from red paper.

Our blanks have a side of 9 cm.

After this, you can begin to add each square. First we make a diagonal fold.

Then we unfold the square blank. Fold the right side towards the middle.

A similar fold should be made on the left side.

Now we need to make bends in the upper part of our workpiece. First we bend the right side.

After this, we make a fold on the left side. Our blank took the shape of a rhombus.

Fold it in half.

The top layer needs to be folded to the side.

In this case, you should pay attention to the fact that on the reverse side the vertex of the triangle coincides with the fold line.

Unfold the workpiece slightly.

Smooth the fold lines.

Now we begin to straighten one of the rays of the future star.

Carefully straighten its inner layer.

Now we give the workpiece the following appearance. We have an element consisting of one whole beam and a half.

We need to make 4 more such blanks.

You can start assembling the star, and for this you will need glue. Apply it to one half of the beam.

After that we insert one element into another.

So we connected 2 modules.

We glue the remaining elements together in a similar way. Our volumetric paper star is ready.

02. How to make a star using modular origami technique

The modular origami technique allows you to create three-dimensional figures using identical elements. Our master class presents the step-by-step production of a star from several modules.

To work you will need 10 square sheets of paper. We took red writing sheets.

We start by making one module. For it we need two sheets. First we bend them along two diagonals. Now these same sheets of paper should be bent in transverse directions, but in the other direction.

From one we fold the workpiece in the form of a double square.

From another sheet of paper with pre-designated folds, we fold the workpiece in the form of a double triangle.

Now we insert the triangle inside the square.

We bend the protruding ends from the square inward. First we do this from two opposite sides.

Then we unfold the module blank and bend the protruding corners again. This is how we got one of the modules.

We need to make 4 more such modules for the future star. Let's start connecting the modules. They will be attached to each other due to the corners protruding on the sides.

Two corners of one piece should be inserted under the folds of the other from the inside.

We insert the corners of the other module from the outside under the folds of the adjacent one.

So we continue to connect the individual modules.

We close all 5 elements into a ring.

You can leave the origami star as is, or you can slightly raise its upper part.

03. Volume star made of paper for a postcard

On a white sheet, draw a star stencil, as in the photo, and prepare a sheet of red cardboard.

Cut it out.

Bend the workpiece - all the short strips are bent inward, and the long strips are bent outward. Glue it to the base. This way you can make a three-dimensional star for a postcard for February 23 or May 9.

How to make a five-pointed star out of paper video tutorial

Stars have always been considered something magical, mysterious and beautiful. They light the way and point the direction. Someone is lucky to be born under a lucky star. Some people rush to make a wish when they see a shooting star, others like to just look at them at night in clear weather. All people on Earth are familiar with this symbol. Maybe that’s why many people want to make their own little star of happiness, because it’s so beautiful. Now we will try to make a happy star from plain paper.

To work, we need a strip of paper and a little time. In our case, the size will be 1x23 cm. Of course, you can take a strip of any size, but the ratio of length to width should remain the same 1:23 each time. To find out what size star you can get from any strip of paper, you need to multiply its width by 1.67. For example, from a sheet of A4 paper, taking into account the ratio 1x23, it is convenient to cut strips measuring 1.2x27.6 cm. From such strips you can make a star measuring 2 cm.

And so, we begin to fold the star. Wrap the end of the paper strip around your index finger and tie a knot. You need to tighten it and press it so that you get a small figure of an equilateral pentagon.

You need to try to ensure that after tying the knot there is a very small end of the strip left. If this cannot be done, it is better to cut it off or bend it back.

Next, we begin to wrap our pentagonal star in a circle with the long end of the strip, bending it each time along the line of the edge of the figure. With each fold, the strip itself will lie on the next edge on which it needs to be folded.

After 10 similar folds, a short piece of strip should remain. It can be hidden in a nearby “pocket”. The result should be a pentagonal flat figure.

Now you need to try to make the figure three-dimensional. To do this, each edge needs to be slightly pressed inward with your fingers, while simultaneously pulling out the corners. Since the star is very small, you need to be especially careful so as not to accidentally damage it.

If you did everything correctly, then your lucky star should look like this.

Don't be upset if something went wrong and the star didn't work out the first time. Try to start again and for sure this time you will succeed! And when you learn how to do them, it will seem to you that nothing could be simpler.
