Preparations

Thanks to amigurumi technique you can knit almost any animal or fairy-tale character from threads. The knitting technique is not difficult. You will need a minimum amount of materials and tools, diagrams with a description .

Pig and Boar - symbols of the new year 2019

In 2019, the symbol will be yellow earthen pig. It is believed that this animal brings good luck, improves the material condition, however, if you anger the pig, you should not rely on the benefits given to it. To appease the animal, you can crochet a small one in the form of a pig.

A crochet pig can have a different decorative purpose:

 • it can be hung on a Christmas tree in the form of a toy;
 • you can give to friends and acquaintances as symbols of the new year;
 • a knitted Pig can become a child's favorite toy;
 • crafts you can decorate potholders, a baby hat or a backpack;
 • flat pig, crocheted can be used as an application for a greeting card;
 • you can use the product as a keychain.

What you need to prepare for knitting

To make a crochet pig beautiful and neat, you need to prepare acrylic or silk threads. If it is not possible to use just this type of base material, you can buy wool blend yarn. The main thing is that the knitted Pig is dense and keeps its shape.

Additionally, you need to prepare:

 • white threads for the piglet's body;
 • white threads for knitting hooves;
 • if the pig has an outfit, you need to purchase colored threads;
 • small plastic beads and buttons;
 • hook size 1.8 and 1.2;
 • needle;
 • thread;
 • filler.

How to stuff a knitted Pig?

It does not really matter what will be inside the holiday souvenir, the main thing is that it keeps its shape. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that there are no lumps during stuffing, or the filler is unevenly distributed.

It is not recommended to use such natural materials as down and wool as a filler. Firstly, the piglet will deteriorate after washing, the filler will go astray and it will have to be taken out. Secondly, natural material can cause allergies.

Some needlewomen fill toys with grass and cereals, hay dust. Such toys are great for falling asleep, children like to play with them. If nothing suitable is at hand, you can fill a knitted pig with cotton wool.

But it is best to use special fillers - holofiber or synthetic winterizer. They are sold by the yard in fabric stores. If you don't need this a large number of, you can buy a special filler for toys in stores for handicrafts. It is sold in small bags.

You need to wash the craft carefully, only in warm water. Usual washing powder not suitable for washing, you can use shampoo, liquid soap, special detergent designed for washing wool items. The toy must be thoroughly rinsed, squeezed out slightly, dried a little on fresh air and then put on a warm battery.

Below you can find detailed patterns for knitting pigs. We have compiled some of the most relevant and detailed diagrams which even a beginner can understand. In addition, here are several original ideas design pigs from different needlewomen.

Your piggy is ready!

First you need to decide on the image of the future product and knitting technique. If you want to crochet a pig, then the amigurumi pig is the easiest to do, since this knitting technique is available even for beginners.

However, in addition to the cartoon character Peppa, you can connect any other piglets: Olivia, Piglet, Funtika, Nif-Nif with Nuf-Nuf and Naf-Naf, or come up with heroes yourself, give them character and give names. Based on this, you can additionally knit clothes for your piglets, as well as matching jewelry or accessories.

If you are knitting a Peppa Pig or other pig for small children, then it is better to choose yarn that is safe and pleasant to the touch for the child, such as cotton. To make the craft soft, it will need to be filled with padding polyester or other filler. A three-dimensional figure will be able to stand or sit on its own, and if you decide to knit a flat toy, then it is better to use a wire frame, but it will still stand only with a support.

You can make the arms and legs of the toy on a thread mount - so they can move, which will be much more interesting for children. As an eye, you can use beads or special plastic eyes for toys; for a very small child, it is better to embroider them with threads.

Each product - regardless of whether it is crocheted or knitted, will turn out to be beautiful, original and unique.

Such a funny little pig can be crocheted from any ball of yarn.

Choice of yarn and hook size

The composition of the yarn does not matter, but worsted yarn is preferred. A well-twisted thread of equal section will make the product more beautiful. The item made of Yarn Art yarn (55% cotton, 45% acrylic) 160m/50g looks good.

The choice of hook depends on the thickness of the selected yarn. Knitting should be tight enough, the stuffing material should not shine through, much less spill out of the toy.

The size of the toy will depend on the chosen yarn and hook. According to the size of the toy, we select suitable eyes for the design of the muzzle. If you crochet number 3.5, the optimal button-eye diameter is 10 mm.

Technique Tips

The piglet is connected without seams, in a spiral. When knitting, it is better to use the marker of the beginning of the row. It can be a pin, or a thread of a contrasting color. In order to avoid distortions of the finished toy, the bias loop should not be ignored, it must be knitted and the marker moved behind it.

The head is the body

1 row - 6 sc in KA (6)
2nd row - *PR* (12)
3 row - * RLS, PR * (18)
4 row - * 2SBN, PR * (24)
5 row - * 3SBN, PR * (30)
6 row - * 4SBN, PR * (36)
7 row - * 5SBN, PR * (42)
8-12 rows - * RLS * (42)
13 row - * 5SBN, UB * (36)
14 row - * 5SBN, UB * (30)

Now we need to sew on the eyes. They are placed between the sixth and seventh rows with a distance of seven columns between them. Partially fill the tied part of the toy. As a filler, it is better to use a synthetic winterizer or polyfill.

15 row - * 3SBN, UB * (24)
16 row - * 2SBN, UB * (18)
17 row - * RLS, UB * (12)
18 row - * UB * (6)

Fill the body tightly, sew up the remaining open hole. The body is finished.

Ears

It is required to connect two parts.

1 row - 4 sc in KA (4)
2 row - * RLS, PR * (6)
3 row - * RLS * (9)

Fasten off the thread, leaving enough length to sew on the ears.

Tail

1 row - tie a chain of eight air loops.

2nd row - single crochet in the second air loop, 2 sc in the next two air loops, 2 half double crochet in the next two loops, 2 double crochets in the next two, 2 columns with three crochets in the last air loops, slip stitch in the same last air loop.

Fasten the thread, roll the tail in a spiral, starting from the beginning of the tail.

Cut the thread, leaving a long end for sewing.

Sew the ears to the head in a slightly concave pattern between rows 3 and 7.

1 row: 5 st b / n in the amigurumi ring = "
2 row: increase × 5 times = ["10 tbsp.]

We attach the pink thread and continue knitting.

3 row: columns b / n = "
4 row: (4 st b / n, increase) × 2 times = ["12 tbsp.]
5 row: (5 st b / n, increase) × 2 times = "

Having connected the first leg, cut off the thread, leaving a long end.

We knit the second leg. We do not cut the thread at the second leg!

We connect the legs

To do this, we continue knitting, moving from the second leg to the first. Having knitted 14 st b / n of one leg, we knit 14 st b / n of the other. Thus, the legs are knitted together, and the row now consists of 28 sts / n.

We continue to knit the legs tied together.

1 row: columns b / n = [“28 st.]
2 row: (13 st b / n, increase) × 2 times = "
3rd row: columns b / n = ["30 st.]

When stitching the legs, a small hole formed. We sew it with a long thread, which was left after knitting the first leg.

4 row: 14 st b / n, increase) × 2 times = "
5 row: columns b / n = [“30 st.]
6 row: (14 st b / n, decrease) × 2 times = "
7 row: columns b / n = [“30 st.]
8 row: (8 st b / n, decrease) × 3 times = "
9 row: columns b / n = [“27 st.]
10 row: (7 st b / n, decrease) × 3 times = "
11 row: columns b / n = [“24 st.]

We begin to fill the body with filler.

12 row: (6 st b / n, decrease) × 3 times = "
13 row: columns b / n = [“21 st.]
14 row: (5 st b / n, decrease) × 3 times = "
15 row: columns b / n = [“18 st.]
16 row: (4 st b / n, decrease) × 3 times = "
17 row: columns b / n = [“15 st.]
18 row: 5 st b / n, decrease, 6 st b / n, decrease = "

We cut the thread, leaving a long end for sewing. Leave the hole open.

Place the piglet's head on the body and, using a needle with the remaining thread, sew the two parts together.

It is convenient enough to sew the parts together, making one seam for each column. Thus, sewing the head of a piglet to its body, it is necessary to make 13 stitches.

2-4 rows: columns b / n = "

Stuff the detail a little.

5 row: decrease, 4 st b / n = ["5 tbsp.]
6-8 rows: columns b / n = "
9 row: decrease, 3 st b / n = [“4 tbsp.]
10-12 rows: columns b / n =

Cut the thread, leaving a long end for sewing.

Tail

1 row: We knit a chain of 6 ch with pink yarn.
2 row: starting from the second column from the hook, we knit 2 st b / n into each column of the previous row.

We cut the thread, leaving a long end for sewing.

Sew arms on both sides of the body, placing them slightly below the head. Sew a ponytail to the bottom of the back.

Crochet Peppa Pig

The more you take the hook, and the thicker the thread, the larger the size of your knitted craft will be.

Now let's try to make a cool Peppa pig.

 1. Starting from the same amigurumi ring, we knit a muzzle with pink threads. On the eighth row, cut a circle of plastic for the snout (take the outlined circle as a basis in size), and on the thirty-sixth row, insert it into the patch before stuffing the muzzle.
 2. The ears, as a detail, are knitted separately. Do not forget to leave a thread so that later you can sew them on. The same goes for the tail.
 3. For the torso, it is better to immediately take the red thread - so you will have a ready-made likeness of Peppa's dress and do not need to knit it additionally.
 4. The arms and legs of this toy are usually not filled with filler, but you can do this while knitting.
 5. Eyes and cheeks are recommended to be cut out of felt fabric. You can also embroider them with threads, like a mouth.

In the same way, but with different colors, you can tie the rest of the members of the cheerful Peppa family - brother George, dad and mom (calculate larger sizes for pig parents). If you like other characters, you can try making Piglet or Funtik, or just piglets.

Piglet Piglet crochet

Piglet is knitted like a regular amigurumi pig - various parts are separately, which are then stuffed with filler (not all) and sewn together. Additionally, you will need to knit Piglet's pants, make him an embroidery with a check on them and sew on a button. Also, do not forget about the obligatory detail - the famous green ball. If you want the piglet to stand, you will need to sew coins into its legs, and also make a stand (on thick cardboard or plastic), to which the ball will be attached with wire.
