Gift boxes with their own hands. How to make a box of unnecessary things with your own hands. How a jar of cream turned into a box

Climax

Very often, real masterpieces (not only beautiful, but also useful) are obtained from things that we consider valuable. How many of the most important things for needlework went to the trash cans ... To create this cute box, we will need a reel from used adhesive tape. You probably threw them away more than once, but now you can use them. I note that the box turns out to be quite “budgetary”, but it looks like it was bought for a lot of money!

To create a box you will need:

  • cardboard,
  • spool,
  • scrapbooking paper of three different types, matching with each other,
  • paper glue,
  • stationery knife,
  • nail scissors,
  • primer or white acrylic paint,
  • double sided tape,
  • lace,
  • shaped composter
  • ruler,
  • various decorative elements (everything that comes to hand).

Master class: do-it-yourself box

Step one

First we need to prepare the bobbin. Remove all remaining tape and paper from it, prime or paint the ends with white acrylic paint. We cut out 4 circles from the cardboard according to the size of the reel and a rectangular strip 2.5 centimeters wide and a length that matches the circumference of the reel.

If you have very thick cardboard, then only 2 circles are enough (one "top" and one "bottom").

If there was no thick cardboard at hand, then the cut out circles must be glued in pairs. Let them dry well.

Step two.

While the circles are drying, decorate the box. To do this, take scrapbooking paper. From it you need to cut 2 circles that match in size with the inside of the bobbin. From paper with a different pattern (or a different color), we cut out 2 large circles with allowances of one and a half centimeters. These are blanks for the outer part of the box. With nail scissors we make cloves on the allowances. Try to cut the teeth the same way, then it will be much easier for you to glue the blanks. You also need to cut out 2 strips identical to the cardboard blank (from different types of paper).

Step three.

We paste on the cardboard blanks the parts cut out for the inside of the box. Don't forget the stripe! Wrap the strip around the bobbin and glue the edges (you can also use tape). Fix the strip on the reel so that it takes the appropriate shape, but does not stick to it.

Mugs need to be glued to the reel itself (colored side inward) and to a strip of cardboard (also colored side inward). Leave the box for the glue to set well. It's best to use clear glue, it won't show if you apply too much.

Step four.

Now the reel needs to be pasted over with paper on the outside, for this you will need blanks. Carefully place them on the lid and bottom of the future box, try it on and only then glue it. Be careful, glue each clove. Do not forget about the strip, it also needs to be pasted over.

Then take the third kind of paper and glue it on the inside and outside of the bobbin. You can use the paper that you used for the outer blanks, but the box will look much more interesting if you use scrapbooking paper with different designs. Let the box dry completely.

Step five.

Now you can start decorating the box. Lace must be glued to the lid, neatly joined. A satin ribbon bow will help close the ugly joint. Instead of a bow, you can use a beautiful stone or figurine, a fabric rose - whatever you think is appropriate.

The same lace can be put on the bottom of the box, however, no one bothers you to use a satin ribbon or lace of a different type / color. Don't forget to mask the seam.

The top of the box is decorated with paint to create pearls (these droplets of paint harden in air). From above you can glue flowers, bows, butterflies or large beads. The scope for imagination is huge.

This box will be a great place to store jewelry. Many girls will be delighted with such an original handmade gift. If you want to wish someone a happy birthday or any other holiday, then do not buy an envelope for money, roll it up into a tube and place it in such a box. We guarantee that such a gift will not be forgotten.

The original box with your own hands is ready!

A little imagination - and you can make a beautiful, comfortable, exclusive jewelry box yourself. Of course, it will differ from what is offered in stores, but it will be able to compete with them and take its rightful place on your table.

One of the easiest options is to convert seemingly unnecessary items such as empty cotton swab containers, candy boxes, and matchboxes.

1. Box from the packaging for cotton buds

An empty round package from cotton buds will come in handy. She can easily take on the role of a box, and you can decorate it with a small piece of colored fabric, beads and feathers.

2. A box made from a plastic box of chocolates.

Thanks to elementary decoration, it can be turned into a beautiful jewelry box in half an hour.

Website site advice: for better paint adhesion, first the plastic surface must be sanded with sandpaper, and then it can be covered with acrylic primer, on which the paint fits well. When the paint dries, you can start plastering and artistic work. For greater realism, you can make reliefs, wavy notches on soft putty.

Here is one option for decorating such a box. From a napkin with a marine theme, cut out the drawings and glue them on decoupage glue. We create our own composition. So the box turns into a real jewelry box in a marine style. So that our art does not peel off, we open it with acrylic varnish. Full instructions are at the link.

3. Shoe box jewelry box

If you stock up on PVA glue, superglue, two cardboard shoeboxes, red or other velvet size, a small piece of printed crepe-satin, non-woven fabric, golden imitation leather braid and foam rubber (as an option, replace it with ordinary sponges for washing dishes), then you can make such a beautiful box.

The materials at hand are: an iron, scissors, a ruler, a pencil and a pen, newspapers for patterns, matches for firing fabrics, a stapler with 20 mm staples, cardboard, narrow tape.

A master class on creating a functional jewelry box is published on the website.

For starters, just a few photos.

4. Caskets from empty matchboxes

As for matchboxes, they should be glued in pairs, creating chests of drawers. As a base, use squares of the same size made of thick cardboard. An upper tier can be added to the resulting structure. You can decorate with buttons, beads, appliqué.

5. How a jar of cream turned into a jewelry box

An excellent option for creating a box is to use a container for hand and body cream. It turns out a compact jewelry box, which closes tightly and has one compartment. You can decorate it with a simple pattern, a sticker or any other curiosity.

6. Jewelry box from a tin tea box

You can also always decorate a tea or cookie tin, an old jewelry box or other container. The ornament around the perimeter can be depicted with an eggshell, the drawing is a flight of fancy. Beads, rhinestones, beads - all this will come in handy for you!

7. Caskets from unnecessary books

There are a lot of options for caskets from old books. The principle of their creation is almost identical, but the design is unique. An unnecessary book is taken as a basis, in which the insides are cut out around the perimeter, retreating from the edge of 1.5-2 cm. Then all the pages are glued together and on the sides. And then - a matter of your imagination. You can decorate the box with lace, flowers made of paper or saflets, beads or beads, ribbons and velvet.

8. Serpentine boxes

And finally - a real work of art, in which you can also store jewelry. The author of small serpentine boxes is the Spanish artist Fabi.

To make boxes, colored serpentine is first untwisted and then twisted, alternating colored stripes. The finished discs are shaped by gently squeezing out the middle. The shape is held with PVA glue or varnish. Decorate them with polymer clay.

Master class on the topic:

It is quite possible to make a box with your own hands. The main thing is to think over the frame. And whether to glue it out of cardboard or use ready-made unnecessary containers is up to you. A little effort - and an original accessory for storing jewelry and various necessary little things is ready.

Where do you store your jewelry? As it is familiar - jewelry, folded into one vase, at best, sorted into types in different containers. And, of course, at the most necessary moment, either the second earring cannot be found, or the ring, which is ideal for this particular dress, does not want to fall into the good hands of its owner. To put things in order in small jewelry, rings and earrings, a special jewelry box will help. And how to make it with your own hands - our today's master class will tell.

To create a jewelry box with your own hands you will need:

cardboard - thickness from 2 mm;

PVA glue;

glue gun;

synthetic winterizer;

pencil;

wooden handle for furniture;

fabric in two colors.

How to make a jewelry box: a master class

The master class uses cardboard, which served as partitions in a glass box. It is quite dense, so it is quite possible to use it for making jewelry boxes.

We cut out the blanks of the sizes we need with scissors.

We begin to assemble the base of the box. Hot glue must be applied to the very edge of the cardboard and quickly attach the side wall perpendicular to the bottom. First, we glue the walls with a size of 8.5x8.5 cm opposite each other, and then the rest. All walls should be the same height.

From the outside, it is desirable to paste over the joints with masking tape. So the walls will hold better.

Cut the fabric into 28x28 cm and lay it face down on the table. With a brush, apply PVA glue with a thin layer on the lower part of the base and glue this part to the fabric, placing it exactly in the center. The fabric surface must be smoothed so that there are no bubbles.

Cut off excess fabric at the corners. These will be 9x9 cm squares. We make cuts on four sides from the cut corner to the corner of the box. Thus, there will be allowances that will need to be glued to the walls of the box.

We seal the allowances only from two opposite sides, applying glue to the fabric with a brush.

The remaining two sides are glued together with allowances to the walls of the box, smoothing the surface. We also glue the fabric inside, repeating the shape of the box.

We glue the sides with glued allowances in the same way.

We make a lid for a jewelry box. We still have two cardboard blanks for the outer and inner parts of the lid. We glue them on the fabric, leaving allowances. We cut off the corners, as in the photo below, leaving allowances of a few millimeters. We glue all sides of both parts.

Attach the handle to the lid. Place the pen on the table and place the top of the lid face down on it. Make sure the handle is centered. From above we drive carnations into the handle through cardboard.

We glue the lower part of the lid onto the hot glue, making the same indents on all sides.

The last touch remains - pads of sintepon. We cut out four pieces of padding polyester 8x5 cm in size. We twist each of the bottoms into a cylinder; We glue or hem the tip so that the cylinder does not bloom.

We cut out 4 pieces of fabric of a color different from the main decor of the box with dimensions of 10x6 cm. At the edges, we bend the fabric 1 cm inward and we get blanks with dimensions of 8x6 cm. Glue a roll of synthetic winterizer onto hot glue to the other edge, wrap it up and glue it at the end. Glue the pads to the bottom of the box.

Making your own jewelry box is easy and fun! This is a great gift for yourself and a friend!

Antonina Mazur specially for the site

Despite the fact that shop windows offer a large number of jewelry boxes made of various materials, the desire to make it with your own hands does not disappear. After all, this is not only a tribute to one's talent and skill, but also the desire to have an original thing that no one else can find. In addition, it is of great importance that a hand-made box will have exactly the size that is so necessary to place all the jewelry.

The box is made by hand in two stages:

1) Creation of the box itself from improvised materials;

The material for it can be scotch rings, wooden blocks or baguette trimmings, old newspapers, shoe boxes, and other improvised materials.

Tape reel box

Tape reel box

If a small box is enough for jewelry, then you can make it from a paper tape reel. The size of the finished product will correspond to its diameter and height.

For work you will need:
reel freed from adhesive tape; thick cardboard; pencil; scissors; glue (preferably PVA).

For the bottom and lid of the future box, you need to make cardboard blanks. It is enough to attach the reel to a sheet of cardboard and circle with a pencil. We circle the resulting circles with another circle, the diameter of which is 3-4 centimeters larger than the previous one. These are the future rays with which the circles will be glued to the bobbin. Don't make them too wide. The narrower they are, the more accurately the bottom will stick. The end result looks like this:

Before gluing the bottom to the bobbin, it is necessary to draw along the fold line with a non-sharp object, you can use the edge of tweezers or a metal ruler. This will help to gently bend them. To hide the petals on the side, you need to stick a cardboard tape over them, corresponding in length and width to the side of the reel.

For the lid, you will need to cut a strip, slightly longer than the volume of the reel and half its height wide. In order for the lid to fit well, not to be too large, you need to wrap the future box with a strip and glue its edges. When the side of the lid is dry, you need to glue the top to it in the same way as was done with the reel.

To strengthen the rigidity of the bottom and the lid, you can glue one more layer of cardboard inside, cut along the inner diameter of the reel. The finished box is decorated with your own hands using the decoupage technique, it can be painted with acrylic paints and varnished or glued over the entire surface with a self-adhesive film with a pattern that imitates natural material: wood, stone.

DIY wooden jewelry box

The manufacture of such a box is more laborious than in the previous version, but it will also serve much longer than paper. For work you will need:

pencil, ruler;
a long plank 10 millimeters thick, 10 centimeters wide, made of soft wood: pine, alder, linden; a plate for the bottom and lid, its width is equal to the width of the finished product; hand saw with fine teeth or electric jigsaw; knife; sandpaper; PVA glue (it is better to take construction) or carpentry "Moment".

Having decided on the size of the box, you need to cut out two blanks from the plank, equal to its length and width. At the end of each, it is necessary to make a 45-degree bevel with a knife so that the walls fit nicely. The depth of the bevel is equal to the width of the plank.

Before gluing the side parts, you need to make sure that the bevels fit snugly, without gaps. Otherwise, they must be adjusted with coarse sandpaper. The sides are glued together gradually. After each subsequent gluing, it is necessary to check the internal angle between them. It must be equal to 90. Otherwise, the result may be any shape, but not an even rectangle.

There are two bottom options:

if the finished product will be pasted over with paper or cloth, then the blank for the bottom is taken equal to the size of the box and glued so that its side parts are visible;

Wooden box covered with paper

if a jewelry box with your own hands is covered only with varnish or paint, then it will look more beautiful when the bottom is hidden inside it. For this, a blank is taken, in length and width smaller than the size of the box by two thicknesses of the plank. For example: with a box size of 10x10 cm and a wall thickness of 1 cm, the bottom should be taken 8x8 cm.

Lacquered wooden box

The manufacture of the cover can also be in two versions:

cut the workpiece and install it on the hinges. The best option for attaching the lid is a piece of piano loop, the length of which is a couple of centimeters shorter than the length of the box. All ends of the boards visible on the finished product must be carefully processed with sandpaper;

glue the lid to the box and, after drying, carefully cut it off with an electric jigsaw, retreating down the body by one and a half to two centimeters.

A wooden jewelry box is decorated with all known methods: varnishing, painting, decoupage, pasting with oracal, fabric, leather.

Do-it-yourself box from a baguette

Luxurious baguette box

Boxes made of a baguette, a material for picture frames, look chic and rich. It is made of wood or plastic. Plastic is soft, can be cut and processed no worse than wood. You can buy a baguette in art salons, having previously determined how long the blank is needed. The principle of manufacturing such caskets is identical to working with wooden blanks.

DIY jewelry box made of papier-mâché

Papier-mâché box

What is papier-mâché, how to work with it, we know from the school bench. The advantage of this material lies in the variety of forms of the finished product. It is enough just to find the original blank of the required shape to create an original box.

For work you will need:
newspapers or thin office paper; vaseline or any cream; scissors, brushes; PVA glue or wallpaper.

Do-it-yourself papier-mâché box

The base must be covered with petroleum jelly or cream, so that later you can easily remove the papier-mâché. The first layer of thinly torn paper must be wetted and covered with the entire surface of the base. Paper for the second and each subsequent layer is carefully smeared with glue. You need to make sure that there are no missed sections. It is convenient to alternate, for example, layers of newspaper and white paper. The better the paper is impregnated with glue, the stronger the papier-mâché will turn out. The number of layers is optional. After complete drying, the blank of the box must be removed from the mold and prepared for decoration. If it is a painting with paints, then it must be coated with an acrylic primer. In addition to painting, a do-it-yourself box can be decorated with beads, ribbons, buttons, figurines made of plastic or salt dough.

Chinese papier-mâché box

If the basis for papier-mâché was a round object, the lid was created together with the box, then it is necessary to remove it carefully, having previously drawn a cut line with a pencil. If the layout was created without a lid, then after removing it from the base, you need to align the edges with scissors. The lid is attached to the box before being treated with a primer. Holes for the connecting cord can be made with a paper punch.

Decorated box with their own hands is opened with varnish. It is better to use an acrylic-based varnish purchased at an art salon. Artists cover their canvases with this varnish to avoid contamination and fading of paint.

DIY box from a bamboo napkin

For work you will need:
bamboo napkin; thread with a needle, PVA glue; scissors, cardboard, finishing cloth; magnetic fastener.

Cut out the sides of the future box of arbitrary shape from cardboard.

Sew or glue decorative fabric to them on both sides, leaving a small allowance for the seams. A bamboo napkin can also be decorated with a fabric on the side that will be inside the box. The sides can be sewn or glued to the napkin, leaving some part free.

The clasp can be made in the form of an eyelet and a button, or you can purchase a magnetic clasp at an accessories store.

So that the jewelry box does not get dirty and has a neat appearance for a long time, it is better to open it with acrylic varnish.

Several ways to decorate boxes

Below are photos of jewelry boxes made using different decoration techniques.

For lovers of rigor and minimalism in everything, it is enough to make the box monophonic, covering it with paint and protective varnish.

Decoupage decoration technique has recently become fashionable, but has already become very popular. A large assortment of illustrations for decoupage, up to images of paintings by great artists, is produced on special napkins. You can use regular napkins, magazine illustrations, and even wrapping paper. You will also need sharp scissors, a few brushes, PVA glue, paints, acrylic varnish. Before starting work, the surface must be primed with acrylic paint or glue. Gently smooth each element of the image with a brush dipped in glue until it is completely glued to the surface and air bubbles come out from under it.

Proportions for salt dough: 1 part flour (the cheapest without additives) to 3 parts salt, mix and add water until the consistency of soft plasticine. Decor elements from dough, unlike putty, are first made and then glued to the surface.
After drying, the decor must be covered with two layers of white acrylic paint. Painting is also best done with acrylic. After drying, apply one or two coats of varnish.

Jewelry box for rings, watches, tea chest, jewelry box with rhinestones

Below are materials, diagrams and manufacturing rules.

What can you make a box out of?

Pay attention to simple manufacturing options, for example, take a finished frame:

  • wooden or plywood box;
  • a box of thick cardboard;
  • plastic food container;
  • wicker basket.

Boxes for jewelry boxes, baskets

In the absence of a finished frame, it is possible to create it from the same materials, fastening them in any convenient form. Miniature furniture hinges, nails, a stapler with staples are suitable for fastening the elements of the box.
Consider the features of each material and its finishes. The decor of wooden, cardboard, plastic allows you to choose both soft and hard decorative accessories - shells, beads, rhinestones, twigs, paper. Decoration with ribbons, cloth, pasting with colored paper will be successful.

For wood jewelry

Wooden box

Wooden jewelry box is a classic option. It is exquisite, decorates any interior. To make your own, you will need:

  • a sheet of paper, scissors and a pencil for a sketch and template;
  • boards made of plywood or wood about a centimeter thick;
  • jigsaw;
  • glue for wood;
  • fine sandpaper;
  • hinges, handles, staples, carnations, screws;
  • small furniture guides for drawers.

Choose the shape and type of the casket. Use the templates and patterns of the box below.

  • make a sketch of the box, having thought through all the details (whether the lid will open or lean back, the shape is round, oval, square, rectangular);
  • select the pattern below, enlarge it;
  • cut out the details of the scheme, put it on plywood (board), circle;
  • you need to carefully cut out all the elements and process the edges with sandpaper;
  • the first to fasten the details of the bottom and walls;
  • in the manufacture it is not advised to use nails, it is better to use glue that will connect the parts. Glue the elements, remove the remaining glue and leave to dry completely;
  • when drawers are provided, a board must be glued on top of the resulting frame. After bonding all the layers, the box additionally needs to be “wrapped” around with durable material;
  • if the box has a hinged lid, attach the hinges to the back wall and the lid itself with screws or glue;
  • caskets for rings have several compartments, so provide several partitions inside;
  • decor of the inner part is performed before attaching the lid;
  • decorate the finished box.

The difference between travel boxes is the presence of handles and locks. You can make a travel box as described above. Fix additional elements as in the photo.

It is better to make a casket for business trips and travels from plywood or a blank tin box, only in this way it can keep the contents not crumpled.

Cardboard box

Ideas for boxes made of cardboard and paper

A box of paper or cardboard can be made quickly. It does not require expensive and difficult-to-process materials. A thick sheet of cardboard is sufficient. An option is to make a box of newspaper tubes, for which you can take thin paper. The result depends solely on the imagination of the author.

From cardboard, you can make a book box, a chest for rings, children's boxes, without sharp corners. It is convenient to decorate with paper, beads and ribbons. Of the basic materials and tools, you will need glue, paper sheets, sometimes a stapler with staples, and a strong silk thread. Ready-made patterns for the box;

Schemes and patterns of caskets

Making a cardboard box:

Decide on the shape of the product and act, you need:

  • cut out a pattern;
  • transfer the drawing to cardboard. Bend and cut in the right places;
  • for gluing, it is recommended to use PVA glue, superglue, double-sided tape;
  • the first to connect the details of the bottom and walls;
  • for greater strength, the paper box can be varnished, sheathed with a cloth.

Box of newspaper tubes

The manufacturing process takes a lot of time and resembles weaving from jute, willow vines. Roll a sheet of paper or newspaper about 50x50 cm in size into a tight tube, starting from the corner. According to the size of the future box, bend the tube in two places. Learn to divide into three parts - two walls and a bottom.

Bend also 4 more tubes, fasten from the bottom in the center, following the example of weaving a basket. One more - along the top edge, fasten. They will serve as a frame into which other paper elements are woven. You can squeeze the tubes, thus obtaining paper slats, which will change the design of the box.

Inside, finish with cardboard and fabric. External walls can be varnished, painted, decorative elements can be glued - beads, shells, moamiran figurines, ribbons and more.

decoration

Knitted fabric with a pattern, lace, beautiful fabric, buttons, shells, applique, cereal grains, decoupage, macrame - the choice of decor options is unlimited. At this stage, the main thing will be to follow some rules:

Decoupage in Provence style

The method looks like this: choose a drawing on paper (offset printing is preferred), cut it out, apply it to a pre-primed surface. Smooth out, expelling air bubbles until a snug fit. It is better to do it with a cloth. The final stage - completely varnish with a brush.

Decorating the box with shells
