Preparations

Do you want to sew a “live” toy that can walk, bow and give a paw? Easily!

Materials:

  • orange felt;
  • artificial fur;
  • faux fur with long pile;
  • striped jersey;
  • glass eyes 16 mm;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • carabiner fasteners;
  • Vaga made of wooden slats 22 x 16 cm.

Tools:

  • sewing machine;
  • needle;
  • gum threader or tweezers;
  • pins.

Description of Sewing Ostrich Toy

1. We make a vaga cross from wooden slats, to which the puppet control strings are attached. We glue the sticks and make notches for the threads.

2. We circle and cut out with small scissors details from fur with long and short pile, as well as from knitwear, making allowances for the seams.

3. We connect the details of the beak with a “forward needle” seam, returning in reverse order along the same stitches. We sew the paws with a buttonhole seam from the middle to both sides.

4. We do the back seam after, there may be a large allowance. Details from fur and knitwear can be sewn on a typewriter.

5. At the body, leave a hole for eversion on the side, at the head - under the tuft. We sew fur with a long pile by hand, removing the pile with a needle between the details. We turn it inside out, fill it with synthetic winterizer (except for the head, wings, tuft and tail).

6. It is more convenient to fill the neck and legs of the toy not with lumps, but with cut strips from synthetic winterizer, using a threader for elastic bands or tweezers.

7. At the intersection of the sewn parts of the head, we sew the beak. We mark a place for the eyes, make punctures. Next to them we sew small pieces of fur.

8. We connect the eyes with the head.

We fill the head with synthetic winterizer, sew up the hole and sew a crest in its place.

9. We make ties on the paws with a thick thread, we connect the foot with the leg with a hidden seam.

10. Sew the wings and tail to the body. We place the legs below, sew the neck.

11. We hang the toy on strong threads. For this we use carabiners for jewelry and eyelets made of thin cords. We tie the thread to the wag. Do not immediately tie the threads firmly until you have adjusted the height of the fastening of the ostrich parts, convenient for controlling the toy.

Puppet puppet Ostrich.

The puppet theater is an ancient phenomenon, but it has not lost its attractiveness to this day. To plunge into it Magic world, you need quite a bit: desire, good mood and a couple of hours of free time. Even a novice craftswoman can make a puppet doll. And believe me, your efforts will be rewarded when you see genuine children's delight. After all, no child can refuse a toy that comes to life in his hands.

For work we need:

* Fluffy threads for knitting, for example, "Grass"
* Hook #7
* Sintepon
* A few pieces of thick knitwear
* Two buttons for the eyes
* Threads "iris"
* Wooden lath 40cm long
* Self-adhesive paper
* Scissors, needles, threads, awl, nails, hammer

Toys convey the mood with which we create them. Our character is touching and funny! Imagine a fledgling chick that clumsily steps over with its paws, stumbles amusingly and sticks its curious nose everywhere. Represented? Then smile and let's get started.

1. We knit the neck. Dial a chain of 40 air loops(vp), knit 3 rows with single crochets (st.bn). Fasten the thread and leave a free end 15 cm long. With it, we will attach the neck to the body.

We knit legs. Dial a chain of 80 ch, knit 2 p. st.bn.

We knit the body. Dial a chain of 20 ch, knit 10 p. st.bn. Without cutting the thread, fold the resulting rectangle in half. Connect its two sides with half-columns. Turn out, fill with padding polyester, close the remaining side with the help of semi-columns.

We knit the head. Dial a chain of 5 ch, connect 1 st.bn into a ring, knit 10 st.bn in the 1st row, then make additions: in the 2nd p. in every second loop of the base, knit 2 st. bn, in the 3rd p. in every third loop of the base, knit 2 st.bn, in the 4th p. in every fourth loop of the base, knit 2 st.bn, in 5m p. in every fifth loop of the base, knit 2 st.bn. After that, knit 4 rows straight and finish symmetrically. A little before reaching the end, fill the head with padding polyester and finish.

2. We cut out two parts of the beak, four parts of the paws from the knitwear. The beak is a triangle with sides of 8 cm, paws are almost ellipses 7 cm wide, 9 cm long. We sew by hand or on a typewriter, as you like. I sewed by hand with buttonhole stitch. Leaving small holes in the paws unsewn, we fill it with padding polyester.

3. We collect all the parts into one with a thread and a needle. Sew on the eyes.

4. Prepare two pieces of the “iris” thread 1 m long and two pieces 50 cm long. We fasten the thread to the crown, torso at the tail and paws with a needle. On the paws, it is better to fix it in three places to make it easier to control the doll. If this seems uncomfortable, the paws can be weighted down by filling with a small amount of pebbles.

5. We make vaga. We cut the wooden lath into two segments 20 cm long. If the lath is not smooth enough, glue it with self-adhesive paper to avoid splinters. We fasten crosswise with two carnations, we also hide them under self-adhesive. At the ends of the segments we make holes with an awl. We thread a thread or fishing line into them, adjust the height and fasten. We cut off the excess.

You can start the show!

P.S. Mini dictionary: 1. Puppet - a puppet whose movements are controlled with the help of threads attached to the wag. 2. Vaga - a special device for controlling a puppet puppet, consisting of a main and additional bars, and having a different design depending on which puppet movements are controlled (a human puppet or an animal puppet).

MATERIALS

  • synthetic winterizer
  • wooden lath
  • colored fleece scraps
  • fine feather boa
  • colored feathers
  • a handful of small stones
  • thin rope or strong thread

TOOLS

  • dummy knife

Step 1

Cut out 2 rectangles from the fleece: a large one for the body and a smaller one for the head. The length of each of them should be 2 times the width. For the manufacture of this toy, rectangles of 15 x 30 cm (for the head) and 20 x 40 cm (for the body) were cut out. Sew 2 triangular pyramids. Having folded the rectangle in half across, stitch its short sides, then lay a line along one of the open sides of the resulting square. Spread the "pouch" and fold it in such a way that you get a triangular "milk" package (see photo). Leave the holes unstitched. Fill the details with synthetic winterizer.

Step 2

Cut out parts of the eyes from white and black fleece and sew them to the head, arranging the pyramid of the head so that the bird has a beak and a sharp crown.

Step 3

Fold a bunch of several colored feathers, tie them and sew them like a "tuft": cut the fleece on the head, insert the feathers and sew up the hole. Also sew a tail from a bunch of feathers to the body.

Step 4

Make a neck. Cut off a piece of thin feather boa. After cutting the fabric on the body and on the head with scissors, insert the ends of the boa into the holes and fix them with a thread. Do not make the neck excessively long, otherwise it will be inconvenient to control the bird's head.

Step 5

Cut out the ostrich paws from the colored fleece. Sew them along the edge with a contrasting thread, leaving an opening at the base of the paw. Put a piece of synthetic winterizer into it, and then a small amount of small stones to weight the paw.

Step 6

Cut two identical pieces of boa - the legs of the bird. The length of the legs and neck must match the dimensions of other details. Insert the end of the boa piece into the foot and sew sewing machine to fix it. Having made two legs, cut the fabric along the sides of the body with scissors, insert the free ends of the boa pieces inside and sew up the holes. If instead of fleece you use other (“loose”) fabrics, glue them with interlining before starting work - then you can make cuts anywhere without fear that the fabric will “creep”.
