Is it possible to curl artificial hair. How to wind artificial hair: consider all possible methods of winding

Preparations

Artificial hair has a lot of advantages, but is rather reluctant to curl. This is because, in fact, they are made of synthetics and can melt at high temperatures. If you want to change the style of your hair and curl your fake wig, extensions or hair extensions, simply curl on low heat, dip your hair in hot water, or use bobby pins to style your curls. You will soon realize that you can easily create and style beautiful curls with synthetic hair without much effort.

Steps

Curling artificial hair with a flat iron

  1. Find out if your artificial hair can be curled. Read the label on your hair extensions or wig to see if they can be heated. Here you can also find the value of the maximum temperature that these artificial hair can withstand. It's a good idea to curl a small section of your hair first and see if it melts if you're not sure it can withstand the heat.

    • Try curling a part of your hair that is hidden from the eyes and not so noticeable.
  2. Divide your hair into strands and heat the iron. Select the desired thickness of the curls and divide the hair into strands. To get airy curls, spread your hair into as many strands as possible. For large curls, it is worth dividing them into several thick strands. Secure your hair on your head with bobby pins. Set the iron to the lowest temperature, which is indicated as a low heat setting (or level "1").

    • Before curling the artificial hair or wig, first attach it to the head of the mannequin.
  3. Spray your hair with water. Wet your hair so that each strand is damp but not wet. You can wet your palms and run your fingers through your hair, or just use a spray bottle and spray water.

    • Wetting your hair with water will prevent melting and help style and hold your curls.
  4. Twist all the strands of hair in turn. Wrap the preheated flat iron with one wet strand of synthetic hair and start curling it. Hold the iron in one place until the hair is warm. Carefully remove the iron from the formed curl. Move on to curling the rest of the curls.

    • To get tight curls, pin the curls as close to the scalp as possible and wait for them to cool completely. It will also help keep your hair in shape for a long time.

Curling artificial hair with hot water

  1. Moisturize artificial hair. Squeeze some moisturizer into your palm. Rub it between your palms and run your fingers through the artificial hair. The moisturizer will help keep the curls in place.

    • You can also use olive oil instead of moisturizer.
  2. Roll your hair into bobbins. Decide on the size of future curls and take several sizes of curlers. Separate a small section of hair and wind it around the curlers. Tie an elastic band around the end to keep your hair taut. Continue until all the strands are wrapped around the curlers.

    • Try using different-sized curlers to get curls of different sizes. To create the most natural look, make the curls near the neck and the back of the head large and free. Use smaller curlers to curl the hair around the face, and then the curls will turn out small and tight.
  3. Dip curlers in hot water. Fill a saucepan 2/3 full with water and heat for one minute. Gently dip a section of bobbin hair into a pot of hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the bobbin from the water and do the same procedure with the rest of the bobbin, dipping them one at a time.

    • When the water has cooled, heat it up again and continue dipping the bobbins.
    • Handle hot water with care. Let the pan cool down a bit so you can handle it with your bare hands.
  4. Dry your hair. Leave your hair in the curlers to cool and dry completely. This will happen pretty quickly, or it can take a whole day, depending on the thickness of the curls wound around each bobbin. Remember to wear a protective cap if you are going to leave the curlers on your head all night to consolidate the effect.

    • If there is very little time for curling, you can dry your hair with a hairdryer, but do it on the minimum temperature setting.
  5. Take off the curlers. Carefully remove the curlers from dried hair. Curls will immediately be elastic and tight. Leave it as is if you want tight curls close to the scalp. Or run your fingers through your hair to make the curls look soft and airy.

    • You can divide some large curls into several small curls, which will add lightness to the image and increase the volume of the hair.

To give the hairstyle splendor and volume, many people prefer natural hair braids, believing that they are more consistent with the texture of their own strands and are more durable to wear. However, high-quality artificial strands are produced using new technologies, so they practically do not differ from natural ones.

In addition, the right shade of natural wefts is sometimes difficult to choose, while the extensive color palette of artificial strands allows you to quickly find the most suitable tone for your natural color. Another plus in favor of synthetic materials is their more favorable cost compared to natural hair.

Artificial strands, especially those made from inexpensive materials, can become brittle over time, lose their luster or fall off. Only complex hair care will help to avoid this, which includes not only washing and combing, but also proper wearing and storage.

For the manufacture of high-quality artificial hair, kanekalon is used - modacrylic fiber with the addition of seaweed extract. It is highly elastic, does not fluff and almost resembles natural hair in its properties. The material was invented in Japan and initially had a palette of 42 shades.

How to take off and put on

Due to carelessness when taking off and putting on, artificial hair can quickly become unusable.

Therefore, it is necessary to remove them, strictly observing the following sequence:

  • Carefully remove the hair from the package and spread it on a horizontal surface.
  • Carefully separate the strands from each other, straightening the tangled areas.
  • Carefully comb them so that they lie down in a continuous sheet.
  • Attach tresses to your hair, strictly following the instructions.

Removing overhead strands also does not tolerate haste and neglect, and this should be done as follows:

  • Tilt your head and throw all the strands forward.
  • Carefully open the hairpins, trying not to injure your own hair.
  • Carefully and slowly remove each tress separately.
  • Spread the strands on the table, carefully comb.
  • Carefully fold the wefts into the package.

In no case should you remove hairpins on hairpins abruptly, in any case - this will damage your own hair and scalp.

The idea of hair extensions with strands belongs to African Americans, whose hair is almost impossible to style and color. The first extensions were made by attaching artificial strands to their own tightly braided hair over the entire head.

How to comb

Caring for artificial hair with clips involves regular combing, otherwise the strands will fall off and look ugly.

Combing tresses made of artificial materials should be done as follows:

    Spread the strands on a horizontal surface.

    Separate a small strand from the tress and lift it up.

    Comb your hair gently, starting at the ends and working your way up to the barrette.

    Separating new small strands, comb them in the same way.

    Comb through the entire weft until it is even and smooth.

How to wash

Synthetic hair should be washed at least once every 1.5-2 months, and even more often with daily use. Tap water is not suitable for artificial materials: it must be very soft. You can soften water by adding a little baking soda to it, or by thawing it and then melting it.

Wash artificial strands as follows:

  • Dilute a teaspoon in 2 liters of water and beat until a fluffy foam is formed.
  • Put the strands in water and leave for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove hair and rinse gently and thoroughly with warm water.
  • Apply a mask or hair conditioner and leave for the time indicated on the product instructions.
  • Rinse off the conditioner with plenty of warm water.
  • Without wiping the strands, spread them horizontally and wait for drying.
  • Gently straighten tangled strands and comb thoroughly.

Instead of a balm or conditioner, you can try applying fabric softener (preferably for children) to artificial wefts: it will give them smoothness, softness and natural shine.

How to curl

Synthetic hair should not be curled with a curling iron, styler or thermal tongs, as they can severely damage them.

To create voluminous curls from straight synthetic strands, you can wind them on curlers immediately after washing and leave to dry, or try the following method.

    Lightly moisten the strands with water and wind them on curlers;

    Put the twisted hair in a small basin;

    To boil water;

    Pour the strands with boiling water for 5-10 minutes, making sure that the hair does not begin to melt or fade.

    Get it, pour over the twisted strands with cold water.

    Dry on low temperature.

    Remove curlers, put on tresses and style your hair as required.

    After removing the strands should be carefully combed.

How to store

Proper storage will help artificial hair retain its appearance for a long time. To do this, it is important to observe the following rules:

  • The room where the hair is stored must be dry, clean, free of dust and mold.
  • Under no circumstances should products be stored in high temperatures or in direct sunlight.
  • The room should be cool and regularly ventilated.
  • Long strands are recommended to be stored in a special net, pre-combed and carefully folded.

In the same way, wigs, hairpieces and false ponytails made of artificial materials should be cared for.

How to choose a wig? First channel video

Not every woman can boast of beautiful and lush hair. Moreover, ladies with short hair dream of long curls and, conversely, beauties with a chic length “mane” tend to cut it off, replacing it with a stylish hairstyle. And if in the hands of an experienced hairdresser it is easy to shorten “hated” hair, then it was very problematic to build strands for a long time.

Now everything has changed. In stores, you can buy artificial hair with hairpins and tresses.

And if the latter are very difficult to attach on their own, then the curls on small clips easily cling to natural hair, giving it the desired volume and length.

Such overlays are very helpful for girls when creating hairstyles for any celebration, although someone will say that for such an occasion you can use a wig. But not every beauty will be able to find a suitable wig that will fully match her image.

Therefore, we will not talk about wigs today.

Let's better touch on the topic of artificial strands, discuss how to care for them, wash, curl, create hairstyles, etc. In the meantime, let's talk about the advantages and disadvantages of such products.

Clip-in artificial hair: revealing the pros and cons

Let's highlight the positive aspects of using unnatural curls:

  • The versatility of strands. Having bought strands once, you can create interesting hairstyles without resorting to the help of a stylist, and you don’t have to do hair extensions in the salon;
  • Price. Strands made of artificial material are several times cheaper than natural curls. Moreover, if you organize proper care for purchased hair, then they will last a long time;
  • Hair clips are completely harmless to natural hair. It doesn't matter how often you use false curls: daily or once a week. They will in no way harm the strands to which they are attached;
  • Fake hair is sold in different lengths and shades, which allows beautiful ladies to choose exactly the color that suits them best.

As you can see, overhead strands have a lot of advantages, but there are also disadvantages:

  • Not everyone knows how to care for a wig and synthetic hair strands. But improper care can adversely affect such acquisitions. They just go bad after 1-2 uses;
  • The complexity, and sometimes the inability to dye unnatural hair. This is very upsetting for many ladies, however, there are some secrets here, but more on that later;
  • You need to know the special technique for attaching hairpins with artificial hair, because if you attach strands anywhere, they will be visible.

What hairstyles can be created with such overlays

Most girls use artificial strands on hairpins not to create complex hairstyles, but to add volume and extra length to their hair.

By placing the curls under the top layer of your own hairs, you can later carefully collect them into a beautiful tail at the desired height. The main thing is that at the same time the hairpins that hold the artificial curls should not be visible.

Using artificial curls, you can make a bun at the crown. It will turn out to create an attractive hairstyle from braids, which can be woven using various techniques and arranged at your discretion.

Artificial hair: can it be dyed and what to use for this?

When buying false curls, ladies most often choose a shade that best suits the color of natural hair. But it also happens that a woman decides to dye her hair, but what about overheads? Everything is very difficult here.

The fact is that it is highly undesirable to dye unnatural strands with the usual hair products, as well as tint shampoos, as this can ruin the structure of the curls. Therefore, it is best if you decide to change the color of your hair by buying new overhead strands.

But if you don’t want to spend money, then you can use the following methods to change the color of existing strands:

  1. Buy an alcohol-based permanent marker in the color you want. Put rubber gloves on your hands (sold in a pharmacy), pull the rod out of the marker, cut off the film in which the “sponge” is packed. Carefully moisten the extracted substance in alcohol and slowly begin to drive it along the artificial strands, they will be painted in the selected shade;
  2. In addition to the marker, batik can be used to color hair - paint for drawing on matter. To carry out the staining procedure, dilute 3 jars of batik of the desired shade in 3 liters of clean water. Stir the resulting solution thoroughly and place unnatural strands in it for 48-72 hours.

How to curl artificial hair?

Buy strands, curled at the ends, the desired shade is not the easiest thing. Therefore, after acquiring strands, some women think about how to make beautiful curls. Unfortunately, when curling artificial curls, electric curlers, hot curling irons and tongs are not used. An exception can only be those products that are marked "heat-resistant". Such overlays are resistant to high temperatures, including curling.

If you still really want to make small waves on the purchased curls, then you can use the following methods:

  • Wind the strands on cold curlers, put them on a baking sheet and, in this form, send them to a slightly preheated oven for 40 minutes. Then take out your “dish”, wait until it cools down. After complete cooling, you can unwind the curlers;
  • Wind the strands on cold curlers. After that, scald the hairs with boiling water and immediately rinse with ice water. Dry the pads. With this method of twisting, the curls will turn out to be very beautiful and natural.

General tips for caring for hair extensions on hairpins and tresses

In order for fake hairs to last longer, you need to organize proper care for them:

  • Don't forget to brush your curls. Such strands are very confused and, if you do not comb them, then soon the lining will take on an untidy look. Perform the procedure with a comb with rare teeth;
  • Do not use hot appliances to wind and straighten strands;
  • Do not use fixatives on artificial strands. They do not affect the lining, but the appearance can be spoiled;
  • If your strands are attached to hairpins, then after removing them from your head, place them in special bags to protect them from pollution;
  • The strands on the hairpins must be removed at night, otherwise the clips will bend;
  • Lining cleaning is a must. Some ladies do not know how to properly wash clip-in artificial hair, but this, in fact, is not necessary. Products are simply wiped with a damp cloth. If the curls do not have time to dry before use, then they must be wiped with a dry towel. The use of a hair dryer is prohibited.

That's all the secrets for the care and operation of overhead strands. Use these products correctly, then they will last a long time. Good luck!

I am often asked if it is possible to curl. There is only one answer, only those artificial hairs that are marked thermo can be curled, which means that these false strands can withstand temperature. If you try to curl artificial hair without a thermo mark, they will burn out and stick to the curling iron. Curling of thermo hair is based on the ability of kanekalon to take a given shape when cooled (this is how plastic bottles are melted into the desired shape: heated, shaped and allowed to cool)

First way

1. Take the previously included curling iron (desirable temperature is 190 degrees);
2. Wind the strand of the set in the usual way and wait 50-60 seconds;
3. The most important point. Remove the curl without dissolving it, the curl should remain in the ringlet. You can fasten the ring with a hairpin or hairpin so that it does not fall apart and leave it to cool completely, only in this way the curl will turn out to be tight and beautiful.

Attention, if you release the curl immediately after the curling iron, it will not take shape. This is the main mistake of girls who cannot curl artificial thermo hair.

The second method was suggested by the client Anna from Sevastopol

1. Take any curlers
2. Screw on with hair clips
3. Put on the battery and leave until the morning. It is important that all strands warm up well.
4. Remove in the morning and leave to cool completely. Gorgeous curls are ready

Third way

1. Take a thermo strand on clips and twist the curl into a ring by hand
2. Secure with a hairpin or foil
3. Dip in boiling water for 5-10 seconds
4. Leave to dry completely without unrolling the ring.
5. Unroll the curl ring and enjoy beautiful curls
You can twist all the curls and lower the set completely for 10 seconds in a boiling pot as in the photo.

Trick 1. If you want elastic, large curls, grab more hair, the strands should be thicker. If you like smaller curls, grab thin strands. I curl into large curls, it's faster and looks more natural
Trick 2. If you want to straighten your curls, take a flat iron and carefully run the entire length of the strand, pulling the tip of the hair well. Stretch until completely cool, then the curl will straighten and take the desired shape. It is not necessary to wash your hair after curling, since all thermo hair quickly loses its appearance after washing, any washing provides tangling and fading of hair.
