Snowman from papier mache

Winter is the favorite time of the year for children. In winter, you can skate, ski and sled, you can sculpt snowmen, build snow forts, play snowballs.

At this time of the year people celebrate New Year. And to decorate our room, we decided to make a cute snowman.

preliminary work: Reading fairy tales, guessing riddles, modeling snowman made of snow.

To do paper mache snowman, US would need:

Newspapers or any paper;

Paste (for 0.5 liters of water - 2 tablespoons of flour. In boiling water, add flour slightly diluted with water, stir until thickened) or PVA glue;

Balloons (3 pieces);

2 sticks for hands;

Decorating paint.

Making the body and head snowman.

Inflating balloons (we will need them for the torso and for the head)

We tear the newspapers into pieces and glue them layer by layer on the balloon, 8 layers in total. (so that you can see the order of the layers, we take each layer from a different paper)

3 days our blanks are dried.

For the legs, we inflate a smaller balloon or take any balloon from a large constructor (if we take a balloon from a constructor, we wrap the first layer with wet newspaper so that we can easily separate our work from the balloon)

We do the rest in the same sequence as the torso with the head. After drying, simply cut in half into 2 parts. (our legs).

For the nose, roll up the cardboard with a tube and apply layers on top papier mache.

When everything is dry, collect snowman. For this 2 big ball (head and body) layering again papier mache and wait until dry. We connect the rest of the parts in the same way. (legs, arms and nose). It is advisable to go through the last layer with white paper.

After the base has dried snowman, cover its top layer with PVA glue.

Decorate snowman. We draw a face, a nose - a carrot and create a fabulous mood of the room!

New Year is the brightest and most magical holiday! We are always looking forward to this holiday! But even more, the smallest and brightest people are waiting for him - our children! They believe in a fairy tale, they believe that good always triumphs over evil, they believe that any wish will certainly come true, they believe that Santa Claus will definitely bring them a long-awaited gift! But in fact, they believe in us - in adults.
Every year, on the New Year's holiday, you try to come up with an interesting, new surprise - where the gifts for children are hidden .... And so. This year, the SNOWball became a special surprise in my New Year's program ......

Now let's take a look at the workshop. Santa Claus.....
Papier mache technique ..... Newsprint and any other paper, in order to know the count of layers ...... I took the ball for fitness ...... I glued it completely, then cut it in half with a utility knife ..... I did 10 layers of paper.

I connected it with a ribbon of fabric in several layers .....

In order for the lump to close, I sewed a tape around (contact tape standard TN Tape 20 mm color white), you can put it on a stapler ....

Then the decoration of the "Snowball" ...... To begin with, the "Snowball" was pasted over with a white cloth externally and inside .... Then it was pasted over with cotton wool, the layer of cotton wool was determined by eye (as you like) .... the decor of the cotton wool is made with gold pieces, snowflakes - for sparkle and magic. Still, this is a fabulous, magical, snow globe .....

The snowball is ready, now let's start filling it with gifts....

We put gifts in the "Snowball" ..... We connect two parts of the adhesive tape on the "Snowball", then decorate part of the connection (so that it is not visible) ..... That's basically it....... BUT.....

To present in the plot of the holiday, you need two clods ...... we need a small clod from which we start rolling (it should look like a big one) and a large clod in which there are surprise gifts! ........ Kom a small size was made according to the principle of a large one, the basis for gluing is a balloon ...... Here is the result of the work.

And here is the long-awaited holiday "New Year's Adventure" ...............
And the very moment when gifts are given to children ..... Santa Claus sculpts a small lump from the snow ...

Then this lump rolls around the Christmas tree ......
Santa Claus: .... We need to ride
Snowball at the Christmas tree
To grow up quickly
To please the children.

The ball is growing ..... (on the back of the tree, a small ball changes to a large one ...)
Snow Maiden: That's it, a wonderful lump! ..
I wonder what's in it?
Yaga:
Some gifts...
Father Frost:
Right, right, you guessed it!
To get us presents
We need to break the snowball.
Come on, let's all clap our hands.
Let's stomp our feet.
Everyone is doing the movement.
Snowball, break
And turn into gifts!
Santa Claus Opens the "snowball".

old newspapers

PVA glue or flour paste

Scissors

Eyes (possibly buttons)

Stationery knife

old balls

Plasticine

Scarf for children

jar of water

Acrylic enamel universal (white)

Tassels

Toy bucket.

At the first stage, we take old balls different size, tear newspapers into small pieces, cook glue. The paste can be prepared as follows way: mix flour and water in proportion 1 :3, mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps. Place on heat and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then remove from heat and let cool.

Coat the ball with paste and slowly apply newspapers to get an even layer. So we do 4-5 layers. Let the ball dry, for this you can put it on the battery overnight. After the ball has dried, we make another 3-4 layers. And so with every ball. For hands and nose snowman I made blanks from plasticine and also pasted them with newspapers.

After all the layers have dried very well, take a knife and carefully cut them in half, trying not to touch the ball. This is necessary in order to pull out our blanks and balls.

We take out the blanks, and glue the 2 parts in the same way (1-2 layers). We start to paint. Product needs to be painted. acrylic paint (can be emulsion). Gouache and watercolor are not suitable, due to the fact that they get dirty and erased.

We glue all the parts together with titanium glue.

This is so wonderful snowman we got it - big, fat, beautiful, cheerful. On the head is a green bucket. The nose is a long carrot. Smiling with all his mouth. It can be put under the Christmas tree with Santa Claus and Snow Maiden.

New Year's Eve in kindergarten announced a competition for a joint craft with a child on the theme - "Snowman". We didn't think for a long time! We decided to make a papier-mâché snowman. Only the wish of the child was to make a big, big snowman. And that's what we got!

Preparations for making a snowman were long. First, after all, it was necessary to make a lot of papier-mâché. We read many different options and decided to make them from egg trays. They collected paper trays, tore them into small pieces, poured boiling water over them and left them for a day. They did it on purpose in the evening in order to prepare the mass the next day. Egg trays swollen well in hot water. The next step was to pass the resulting mass through a combine, you can, of course, knead it with your hands, but it will turn out not so homogeneous.

They threw everything into a colander to drain excess water, and additionally squeezed out the water with their hands. Received lumps of gray mass. Then, which our son really liked, they began to add PVA glue (we specially bought a large amount of construction glue, and it took us about 1 kg). Glue was added so much that the mass turned out to be elastic. The mass for papier-mâché is ready.

We did it in several visits, because we could not calculate with the required volume. Moreover, the mass is stored for a long time in the refrigerator in a closed container (we had about two weeks).

Now let's start making a snowman. The base is naturally a ball. To do this, we took three balloons, inflated them in different sizes - for the head and body, and made blanks for arms and legs on small balloons from a plastic constructor. The child did not even regret the balloon with his beloved Spider-Man))) The son made papier-mâché cakes, and I stuck them around Balloons. Then all this dried up high on the shelf so that our cats could not reach it))) By the time the blanks dried up in 2-3 days, they became very hard.

It's snowman day. Back in the fall, our thrifty son left a wooden handle from a shovel, which he broke. Therefore, when the question arose of what basis to put on the balls for the future snowman, he solemnly brought his “treasure”))) Dad screwed the stick to the plywood, and made holes in the balls to put them on the base-stick. It turned out to be a very solid construction.

They began to attach arms and legs. Previously, papier-mâché blanks were cut in half, plastic balls were taken out of them, glued again, smeared with several layers of newsprint with PVA (you can use paste). We already did that.

They decided to fasten them with self-tapping screws and a hat elastic tied to them. We outlined the places where the arms and legs would be, made holes and held a hat gum, attached self-tapping screws to the ends, which were inserted into the arms and legs. The only thing is that the elastic band must be stretched, for the strength of the fastening. For strength, the junctions of the balls with each other, arms and legs were missed with a glue gun.

Now the stage, which my son also really liked, is painting the snowman. Painted with ordinary acrylic white paint in two layers.

The next day, they began to decorate the snowman. They attached two green eyes, a nose - an orange carrot sewn from supplex (I once sewed it as a Christmas tree toy for the year of the rabbit), and a mouth - red beads. Various buttons were taken away from the body, shiny snowflakes were glued on. All glued to the glue gun. I sewed a cap with a tassel and a scarf from fleece scraps that were left after sewing a children's fleece undergarment. Once again I was convinced that any shred will find its use, it’s my thrifty hamster nature that speaks in me))) The stand on which the snowman stands was decorated with sisal. They hung a snowman in the hands - a branch with fir cone and Christmas tree toy. Here he is our snowman - a snowman and ready. It is about 80 cm high.

Sincerely, admin Kotya! I will be happy to answer your questions in the comments.

I made snowmen to decorate the school hall with students of the 5th and 6th grades.

To complete the practical, it is necessary to prepare

To make snowman balls:

  • three thick balloons (photo 1), a newspaper (photo 2), sheets of white office paper (photo 3), PVA glue (photo 4);

  • * for snowman decoration:
  • a bucket of mayonnaise; New Year's tinsel; colored cardboard and a thick cardboard box.

Making a ball using the papier-mâché technique (it is necessary to make three balls of different sizes using this technique).

1. Prepare water in a shallow dish and finely chopped pieces of newspaper.

2. Inflate balloon. Try to tie the balloon well so that it does not deflate in the future.

3. Gradually lay the pieces of newspaper soaked in water as tightly as possible to each other.

Try to complete the job quickly enough so that the pieces of newspaper do not have time to dry. Cover the entire surface of the ball, leaving no gaps, with these pieces of newsprint.

5. Slowly glue the ball with pieces of white paper. Glue them as tightly as possible to the surface of the ball so that the corners of the leaves fit snugly against it. Paste the entire surface of the ball, leaving no gaps, with such pieces of office paper.

6. This is how even your dried one will be paper ball in the event that the balloon does not deflate while the glue dries.

7. This will be your balloon when you remove the balloon, after untying it and blowing it off. You can remove the ball only after the glue has dried well.

8. Three of these balls, different in size, you will need to make a snowman.

9. Place the largest finished ball in a rectangular box. Connect the ball with the box on four sides with adhesive tape. Glue the middle one on the big ball, and the smallest one on the middle one and start working on the individual details of the snowman.

10. Attach a decorated mayonnaise bucket to the top ball with adhesive tape. Decorate it lower part New Year's tinsel. Cut out the eyes and mouth from colored cardboard. From colored cardboard, make a nose-marking in the form of a cone. Attach all this to a small ball with tape or glue, creating a cute snowman face.
