Advent calendar in the form of a Christmas tree

The options for creating calendars are endless. That is why hand-made is unique, which allows you to decorate your interior with unique things. And as a gift, such a calendar is quite versatile!

A few DIY calendar ideas:

Good afternoon, our dear readers!)

Today I am with you, Alena Podlesnaya, and I will tell you how to make a desktop flip calendar. This calendar can be made for yourself or as a gift for the New Year, a nice and necessary gift will turn out!)

The calendar is 16 * 10.5 cm in size on the cover, the thickness I got from the bottom is 9.5 cm, fat man!)

So, to make such a calendar, we need:

For interior design:

1. scrap paper 15*15 - 11 sheets;

2. Cardstock for the base, I have a mother-of-pearl design cardboard with a density of about 280 g / m2 - 2 sheets 30 * 30 cm

3. Watercolor paper or something similar for printing the calendar grid and the back of the calendar - 4 A4 sheets. The reverse side can be done as desired.

I made the calendar grid and the reverse side especially for this MK, so I will be happy to share them with you!);

4. Printed pictures or you can do it with your own photos, it will be much more interesting, and being a gift, such a calendar will give more warmth and family comfort.)

5. Various decorations and techniques.

I used:

texture paste, masks, a little spray, liquid pearls, gauze, mosquito colored mesh, some other mesh, chipboard, beads, glossy accent, various lace, scraps of paper and book pages, raffia, sisal fiber, flowers, skeletonized leaves, paper tape, microbeads, plastic butterfly, white acrylic... In general, everything is limited only by your imagination!)

For cover:

6. Binding cardboard - 2 pieces 10.5 * 16 cm

7. Sintepon

8. Fabric, I took coarse linen.

9. Ribbon or lace for ties.

10. Spring or rings for fastening (if there are rings, it would be better to use eyelets, but not essential)

And of course, we will need glue and a sewing machine if you plan to apply the line.

We will cut the base of the pages from the cardstock - 12 pieces 9 * 15 cm,

scrap paper - 12 pieces 7.5 * 14.5 cm in size

the reverse side - 12 pieces, I got the size 7.5 * 14 cm, my samples need to be slightly adjusted in size.

Let `s start!)

We take the first page, outline the location of our picture and calendar

Apply background decorations

And stick to the base.

By the way, I’ll say right away that I made the pages voluminous, although my volume was no more than a lift on beer cardboard, but still the calendar turned out to be plump. You can make the decoration completely flat so that the calendar is smaller.

At this stage, you can also glue the back, previously stitched on a typewriter.

0

We add a calendar card, a picture on our face and decorate further as we want!) I added beads, which I planted on a glossy accent. On the edge of the pictures and scrap paper, I walked with white acrylic. And here's what I got:

In the same way we decorate our next 11 pages.

Let's move on to the cover. You can glue the synthetic winterizer to the cardboard. I always sew it on, then it definitely won’t “run away” under the fabric anywhere. If you are making a calendar on a spring, pay attention to the edge where our holes for the spring will be. At this point, the synthetic winterizer does not need to be glued, we retreat 1.3-1.5 cm from the edge.

And when wrapping the cardboard with a cloth, do not forget to coat these edges well with glue so that the fabric does not subsequently move away from the cardboard

I have a little visible glue, but it will not be visible, I will cover these places with acrylic.

Now let's move on to decorating the cover. Scraps of paper, texture paste, chipboard frame and numbers made of plastic. I sprayed a little and walked a little with white acrylic.

I made holes with a binder early, at this stage they do not need to be done!

Now we glue our ribbons. They will not only keep the calendar rolled up, but they can also be tied at the bottom and used as our cover as a tripod, and the ribbons will not let it part!)

DIY desk calendar

I bring to your attention a table calendar - a house on cords.

My calendar consists of a base (calendar substrate), to which calendar sheets with grids (by months) are attached.

1. I make a substrate.

I make out the front sides of the substrate. I do two almost identical things at once. They differ only in lace and horizontal mirroring. They will stick to the base.

For this I needed:

A piece of cardboard I cut out a strip 2 cm wide and 18 cm long. I glue the motif on the cardboard and cut it out with an allowance of 2 mm along the contour. I also make two of these elements.

One block - I fix the motif with a backing from the right edge, the second I break through for beauty from the left. I hook the element on the left to the second part (remember - mirror image).

I glue everything in place. I add a few brown half-beads.

On the right I leave a place for calendar leaves. I do not forget that the second substrate has a mirror image and the place for the leaves will be on the left).

2. I make calendar sheets.

For this, I will additionally need collections of papers.

I cut the white cardboard in half (it turns out 6 halves). On both sides I glue them with paper. The collections are close in color, easy to combine and you can make all 12 different options.

In the middle I glue calendar grids by months. On top of each leaf I punch 2 blocks for cords. Please note - all holes should be at the same distance from the edge and opposite each other, so that when we hang them on the cords, they do not walk.

On the substrate - annual grids for 2013 and 2014.

3. I collect a calendar.

From gray I cut out two rectangles measuring 14x20 cm each and a rectangle 8x20 cm (the bottom of the "house"). From white cardboard - two strips of 4x20 cm each (then I will glue the joints of the structure with them. If you want your calendar to fold, scoring in the center of the bottom.

I glue the remaining pieces of paper on all three rectangles - this will be the inside of the calendar.

I fold the white stripes in half.

I glue the structure

We glue our substrates on the front sides. On the top I punch through three eyelets (I always measure according to the calendar leaves) on both sides and opposite each other.

To create cubes we need:

3 sheets of paper;

Sheet with stickers;

Paper for watercolor or pastels;

Printing numbers and names of months on the printer

Various decorations: flowers, brads, pearls, rhinestones, ribbons, rubs - whatever your heart desires;

Cardboard;

Plastic packaging from stamps;

Glue, scissors, cutter.

Step 1: Let's start with the blank. We cut out 3 patterns of future cubes with a side of 7 * 7 cm from watercolor paper. Do not forget to make allowances 1 cm wide for gluing.

Step 2: On the inside of the cubes, glue pieces of cardboard measuring 6.6 * 6.6 cm so that the cube is solid.

Step 3: From each sheet of scrap paper, cut out 6 squares with a side of 7 * 7 cm.

Step 4: Glue 2 identical squares on opposite sides of the cube. This is necessary so that the faces of the cube do not merge when assembled.

Step 5: Cut out rectangles with numbers and names of months from the printout. Please note that the numbers 1, 2, 0 must be repeated 2 times, because they must be on each of the 2 month dice. The role of the number 6 will be played by the number 9, the die can be turned over to get a six.

Step 6: Let's get down to the most favorite pastime - decorating the sides of the cubes. Let your imagination run wild here. Here's what we end up with.

Step 7: Decorate the cube with months - glue various decorations around the edges, leaving room in the middle for a pocket with months. Then you need to make pockets for labels, on which the names of the months will be written on both sides. To do this, we need such a plastic packaging from under the stamps:

Cut out 6 pockets. We pierce holes in the corners and attach them to each side of the cube on the brads.

We cut out the labels, glue a month on each side, make holes, put eyelets, tie ribbons so that they can be taken out and turned over.

We insert them into our pockets and it turns out such a beauty.

Step 8: Glue each cube.

Step 9: Now for our cubes you need to make a shelf on which they will stand all year)))

To do this, we make such a blank from thick cardboard, glue it on all sides with paper and decorate as necessary.

Today I’ll tell you how you can quickly make yourself a desktop flip calendar out of paper and cardboard with your own hands. Empty windows for future sketches are left on the pages of my calendar, but you can easily decorate such a blank to your taste by pasting your favorite photos or any beautiful pictures into the windows. Such a handmade calendar can be a great gift for a friend for the New Year or February 14, especially if you beat it with thematic photos, dilute it with funny inscriptions or wishes for each month. The flip calendar is done very quickly, in 1-2 free evenings, and then pleases the whole year!

Necessary materials

  • 6 sheets of A4 watercolor paper or any other thick cardboard - for pages with the names of the months
  • dummy knife
  • Paints and ink if you write the names of the months and dates by hand (or a printer to print the finished layout)
  • Soutache, satin or any other decorative ribbon - 20 cm
  • 1 sheet of scrapbooking paper 30.5 x 30.5 cm (or any other beautiful paper for the cover)
  • Cardboard 23x42 cm. (I cut out from a sheet of ordinary Whatman paper)
  • PVA glue or glue stick
  • Stationery punch for 2 round holes
  • Ruler
  • simple pencil

If everything is ready, then you can proceed. The scheme of work is very simple:

  1. making page blanks
  2. I create the basis for a calendar made of cardboard,
  3. I paint the pages
  4. I collect all the elements into a single whole.

Pages with months

I cut six sheets of A4 watercolor cardboard in half, I get the future 12 pages.

I mark the middle of the sheet with a pencil and draw a line along it. Combining the middle line with the mark in the middle of the hole punch, I make holes on 3 sheets at once.

I repeat the operation 3 more times and get 12 leaves with exactly matching holes.

basis for the calendar

I cut out 2 rectangles of 22x15 cm from scrapbooking paper. These are the future endpapers of the calendar.

From whatman paper I cut out a sheet measuring 23 x 42 cm. From one edge I glue both rectangles of scrap paper to it one after the other. After drying, I crease the folds and fold the triangle, not forgetting to leave 1-2 cm for gluing from the bottom to the side wall. In the upper part of the triangle, I also mark the middle and make two holes with a hole punch. After that, I glue the bottom with the side wall and get a rather rigid structure, which will be the basis for our desktop calendar.

A little lettering wouldn't hurt!

Pages with months can be designed in a thousand different ways, who has enough imagination for anything, from banal printouts of ready-made templates to colorful drawings for each page.
You can make free lines for planning or notes. Since I make my calendar for sketches, it is important for me to leave some free space for future drawings. Therefore, I write the names of the months with silver acrylic paint, the days and dates with black ink, and draw a window in the center in the form of a stamp. Here's what happens in the end.

Assembling a calendar

I cut 20 cm of soutache tape in half. I thread each segment from under the triangular base, stretch it through the leaves with months and again wind it back, inside the base of the calendar, where I tie a knot.
It is important not to tighten the tapes too much, leaving enough freedom to easily turn the pages. I cut off the ends of the tape. Calendar is ready! If you need to draw something on it, then at any time you can fold it in half, and then spread it again into a triangle. It is very comfortable!
