In our life there are situations when we need a headdress not for the sake of beauty. One that you don't mind throwing away. For example, they found themselves under the scorching sun in the country, on the beach, or maybe they started repairs in the apartment. Take an old newspaper and fold an origami hat. Today I will tell you how to make a hat from a newspaper.

First, let's decide on the size. As you know, newspapers come in different sizes. For example, size Russian newspaper"Pravda" 594 mm by 420 mm. Local newspapers sized 297 mm by 420 mm are dropped into my mailbox. These are the most common options. Let me remind you that the size of the newspaper is determined by the size of the newspaper page. If the hat is intended for an adult, then it is worth taking a larger newspaper, and a newspaper measuring 297 mm by 420 mm is enough for a child.

We lay out the newspaper in front of us, so that the fold is located at the top. We bend the upper right corner to the center of the newspaper page. Fold the top left corner in the same way. At the top we have a triangle. And at the bottom is a narrow rectangle.

Bend the rectangle up and bend the left and right corners.

We turn over the newspaper figure and again bend the rectangle up and bend the corners.

We combine the left and right lower corner of the triangle. Our triangle is transformed into a square. Run your fingers along the fold lines to fix them.

The resulting square consists, as it were, of two squares connected by two sides. We unfold the figure so that these sides are located at the top.

We combine the lower corner of the square with the upper one. We turn the figures over and again combine the lower corner with the upper one. It turned out a triangle.

We transform the triangle first into a boat, and then into a hat. We add sharp corners as in the figure. Slightly crush the top of the head. We straighten the "visor".

To prevent the corners from unbending, they can be fixed with glue, a stapler, or a thread with a needle.

You can make such a hat not only from a newspaper, but also from any paper that is suitable in size (a sheet of graph paper, tracing paper, and even an old drawing paper).

If you only have small newspapers on hand, and you want a hat for an adult, then take 2 newspapers. Unfold them and lay one on top of the other, long side down. We immediately press the right corner of the two newspapers to the fold line. Then, similarly, we fold the left corner of the two newspapers. Next, add up according to the technology described above. The resulting hat will serve no less faithfully.

Not so often you can find in origami a model that will take one or another final form, depending on whether

in what order certain operations will be performed. However, such models exist, and one of them is now in front of you. This is a paper hat from a newspaper, which can have several varieties.

This hat can be first a cocked hat, then a skullcap, a jester's cap, an academic cap and, finally, a bishop's miter.

To make all these varieties of paper hats, take a large sheet of newspaper folded in half. Do not forget that the "range" of paper hats is not exhausted by the indicated models and nothing prevents you from inventing your own kind of headdress folded from yesterday's newspaper.

All it takes is a little creativity and imagination.

1. To begin, fold the newspaper in half, bringing the short edges together. Then fold in half again (four times) and unfold, thus forming a central vertical crease.
Making sure the folded edge newspaper sheet at the top, fold both top corners of the paper down along the vertical center line.

2. Fold forward and upward the bottom edge of the newspaper (only one layer of paper) and place it along the bottom edge of the triangular flaps folded in step 1.

3. Fold the bottom strip of paper up again.

4. Turn over the model.

5. Bend both outer edges inward towards the vertical center line.

6. Fold the bottom edge of the model along the bottom edge of the rim created in step 3.

7. Unfold the fold made in step 6. Fold the outer bottom corners inward so that their edges are aligned with the horizontal fold made in step 6.

8. Bend back lower part model up by bending it over the straight edge of the rim made in step 3.

9. Referring to the horizontal crease made in Step 6, fold the end of the strip into a raised crease inside the pocket behind the straight band made in Step 6. Smooth out the model.

10.Operation 9 is completed.

11.Fold the top corner to the bottom edge of the model and thread it under the rim made in step 9.

12. Open the bottom edges of the hat by slightly pressing on the top fold to do this. Straighten the bottom edges of the hat and round them a little.

13. Your cocked hat is ready.

14. Turn the model over. Pull the front and back sides of the hat in opposite directions.

15. Fold the hat into a diamond shape.

16. Having horizontally in front of you the edges of the upper and lower rims of the hat, bend up, towards the center, the lower corner, and insert it under the lower rim.

17. Repeat step 16 with the top corner of the hat.

18. Open the center slot with your fingers by pulling the straight rims of the tire in opposite directions.

19. Using the thumbs and forefingers of both hands, pinch the arrow crease around the existing crease lines, giving the hat a rectangular shape.

20. Turn the model over. The skullcap is ready.

21. Pull out the two triangular flaps from under the rims (you will fold them during operation 16 - 17) and leave them hanging down freely. Now you have a jester's cap.

22. Pull out the triangular flap folded in operation 11 and straighten all three corners so that they are in the same plane with the central part of the hat. You have an academic hat worn by professors and bachelors.

23. Take hold of the sharp corner released in step 22 with your hand and lift it up, allowing the paper to open a little more.

24. Bishop's miter in finished form.

If there is a repair or a costume party ahead, then a paper hat will be more than ever welcome. Learning how to make a paper hat is not difficult at all. A few minutes of training, a drop of imagination and you're done! In addition, making origami is a great activity for spending time together with children.

The ability to create such crafts always turns out to be useful occupation both in terms of practical use, and with the aim of developing creative and handicraft skills for the child. In this article we will look at how to make a hat from a newspaper with your own hands.

Paper cap

In order to independently start creating a headdress from pieces of paper, you must first prepare the following components:

  • paper - newsprint is better, but with good print quality;
  • glue;
  • decorative elements that will be useful when decorating the product (optional).
  1. We prepare a sheet of paper. Depending on the size of the head circumference and the future headgear, you can choose the format of the sheet, both larger and smaller. For training, you can use a regular sheet of A4 format, so that later you can make a beautiful hat from a newspaper.
  2. Fold the paper in half along the long side.
  3. After that, it is necessary to fold the material for manufacturing half again along the long side, and then straighten it. As a result, a clear fold line should be visible.
  4. Then we carry out the bending of the right and left upper corners of the work sheet to the viewed fold line.
  5. At the bottom there is a piece of paper that has a rectangular shape. Its upper part must be wrapped up, and the lower section must be bent back.
  6. For a tighter fixation of the edges of an already practically made headgear, you should bend the corners of the “lapels” onto each other.
  7. At the end of the manufacturing process, it is necessary to carefully straighten the created product.

The headpiece is ready and can be worn in hot weather!

Paper cap

If you don’t like the cap, familiar from childhood, then you can always fold a more interesting cap model from a paper sheet.

Important! For an adult, a double-folded standard newspaper spread (A3 sheet) is more suitable.

There can be many options for this origami, but we suggest considering how to make a cap with a visor from a newspaper or magazine.

To make a headdress from a newspaper with your own hands:

  1. Lay the sheet with the long side towards you (the fold of the newspaper sheet should be on top).
  2. Bend the top right and left corners of the newspaper to the middle so that a triangle forms.
  3. The lower part of the magazine (rectangular strip) will remain free. Bend its upper part up so that it does not find the triangle, but goes back to back with it.
  4. After that, bend the resulting strip up again - now it will already find a triangle.
  5. Turn the item over to the other side.
  6. At the bottom, we still have the second half of the rectangular strip intact. Two small triangles are visible on the sides of it - bend them towards you.
  7. Now tuck in the middle of the edges of the product on the right and left sides.
  8. Bend the lower rectangular strip up so that it goes butt-to-butt with the sides of the cap folded in the previous step.
  9. Make small folds of the bottom strip on the sides, forming the visor of the hat.
  10. Fill them under the envelope formed on the product.
  11. Turn the origami upside down.
  12. Bend the upper part of the craft down and tuck it under the “lapel”.
  13. Once again, smooth and carefully open the cap. The edges of the cap on the right and left stick out, and therefore it is better to bend them and tuck them under the “lapel”.

Important! If you want to make a hat out of a newspaper elegant, then decorate it with decorative elements or paint it with paints. Or at the very beginning, you can take not a newspaper or magazine, but the desired format of colored paper.

Our craft is ready. You can try on an accessory!
