Gynecology

Good afternoon, dear needlewomen and all the guests of the blog!

Once on the Internet I saw a photo of a beautiful knitted heating pad for a kettle with roses and caught fire to knit such a cute little thing.

I do not cover the teapot with a hot water bottle, I just use it as a kitchen decor. A teapot in such clothes, and even next to knitted cups, looks nice.

Three centuries ago, they put heating pads on a teapot or samovar. Then these were dolls sewn from several dense layers of fabric with fluffy skirts or chicken. Hot-water bottles were decorated with embroidery, special decorative or protective ornaments. The hostess made the heating pads for the kettle with their own hands specially as a gift to the guests.

It is impossible to put a heating pad on the kettle immediately after brewing tea, the brewing will simply stifle.

Such heating pads were needed before for tea ceremonies, tea parties without fuss. Then at the end of the tea party, so that the tea would not cool down, they put a heating pad on the teapot.

Today, needlewomen sew and knit more decorative teapots, probably.

While my hot water bottle waited for its airtime, I had many more unusual ideas knitted teapot warmers, sometimes unexpected, photos of which I will show you.

Kettle warmer with knitting needles

Using my simple example, I will tell you how to make a heating pad for a kettle, and only you show your imagination and do it your own way.

We already crocheted a chicken on a teapot, today a hot-water bottle for a teapot with roses, knitted... You can crochet by the same principle.

We use the leftover yarn. They can always be used in interesting ways. I have a selection of ideas from yarn leftovers, quite interesting, and some downright unusual.

For the cover itself, I have green yarn, for the flowers I chose pink. I took the needles with the number 2.5.

We collect about 41 loops + 2 edging along the width of half the diameter of the teapot. You can tie a heating pad so that it fits snugly on the teapot, especially if it will perform a practical function, or you can make it more free.

We knit the canvas with the selected pattern. I knitted with an elastic band:

1st row - 1 person, 1 out.

2nd row - 1 person, yarn over, remove the purl

3rd and all following rows: knit the front one with the yarn over the front one, knit the yarn over, remove the back one.

After knitting about 10 centimeters, I switched to knitting with the front satin stitch. We begin to make subtractions: in each front row knitted two loops together in four places: along the edges and in the middle.

Having knitted 6-7 centimeters in this way, we close the remaining loops, pulling them together.

In the same way we knit the second half of the cover.

Then we sew both parts on both sides at the top and bottom by about two centimeters. We need non-sewn slots for the spout and handle of the teapot.

We put a knitted heating pad on the teapot and decorate with roses.

I also knitted roses with knitting needles.

How to knit roses

I knitted the strips with the front stitch on 65 loops, 8 rows wide. We twist the strips into roses, grabbing them with a needle and thread.

In the description of knitting such a heating pad I found, it was also recommended to knit a round pad-cap, and sew roses on it. But I decided to sew the roses directly onto the knitted cover.

As you can see, it is very easy to tie a kettle heating pad.

You can also knit the cover in a different way: with a straight cloth, without removing the loops. Make it higher and tie it with braid on top of the kettle.

The side seams can be made with buttons or lace ties.

And the decor can be made not only with roses, but also with other flowers, as well as ladybirds, berries, pom-poms, use various patterns, tie a heating pad on a kettle in the form of a pumpkin, a house, a cat or a dog.

    Work description

    We knit first for the house the roof... You can knit such a heating pad from inexpensive Karachai yarn. It is harsh and thanks to this it will perfectly keep its shape.

    Sew 2 loops. And then in 2 we knit a row of single crochets. In total, there will be 6 columns in the first row.
    Then we knit another row in a circle. All rows fit into the front walls.
    Now we will knit 6 increments through a row. We knitted a row, in the next one they made increases. And we repeat. We place the increments evenly.

    First, we knit them into each of the loops, then through the loop, through 2, then through 3, and so on. We knit until the base of the roof becomes equal in diameter to the lid of the teapot itself. Let us note this series.

    Now we will perform a row and in it we will make additions every 2 loops. And we will knit a new row without increments.
    We will change the thread and then we will knit walls of the house... We knit it from the inside in the row that we marked when knitting the roof.

    Having knitted 1-2 rows, we divide the knitting in half. And we knit separately 2 parts of the house.
    We knit almost to the very end of the teapot. It is necessary not to knit a couple of rows.

    Now attach the green yarn to one part. It will be grass... And we knit a row of single crochet before the beginning of 2 parts. We connect with part 2 and also knit single crochet across it.
    You can knit another row. On the one hand, we have knitting connected, but on the other, not.

    We will link door... Sew 12 stitches and knit, starting with 3 stitches, half-double crochet. And in the very last loop we knit 5 columns at once. Then we go to the other side of the chain and knit here also half-double crochets. And then we turn the knitting back. We knit 1 more row. And in the rounding we perform 5 increments. And then we just tie the door with half-columns with a crochet.

    We will make a row of yarn of a different color, we will knit it by the front wall with half-columns with a crochet. We do not tie the bottom of the door.

    Let's connect. Cast on 6 loops with yellow yarn and knit a connecting post farthest from the hook. We will make 5 loops and knit the connecting post again in the same place. And repeat 3 more petals from 5 loops and a connecting post. We knit 5 of these flowers.

    We knit the leaves. We carry out 6 loops. We knit a connecting post, then a single crochet, a single crochet, again a single crochet and a connecting post.

    We glue the door and flowers on hot glue. And in the middle of the flowers we glue the red beads.

    You can use any to decorate the house.

    As a fastener on the heating pad, you can make 2 ties on the side of the handle (under it).

    A kettle warmer is a functional item and stylish kitchen decor element that will highlight your taste.

    First you need to decide how you will make it: knit or sew. Then we select appearance... You can look at a photo of a teapot heating pad on the Internet, or come up with a unique design.

    V Lately heating pads in the form of a doll or an animal (more often an owl, chicken, cat, etc.) and in the form of a fruit or vegetable are gaining more and more popularity. Next, you need to decide for yourself: will it completely cover the teapot or the spout with the handle will remain open. This will determine not only the form, but also the stages of work.

    Here we will give a master class on making three heating pads: sewn, crocheted and knitting needles.

    To make a kettle warmer with your own hands, you will need the following tools and materials:

    • needle;
    • scissors;
    • sewing machine (if possible);
    • a compass (can be replaced with any container of a suitable size);
    • tailor's chalk (or a piece of dried soap);
    • threads;
    • fabric for the top of the product (can be absolutely any texture);
    • non-woven fabric;
    • synthetic winterizer;
    • ruler or measuring tape;
    • paper or newspaper (for drawing up a pattern).

    If you know how to knit, the set will be smaller:

    • hook or knitting needles;
    • reinforced threads, acrylic or woolen;
    • sewing needle, needle with a large eye for threading thick threads;
    • lining fabric (preferably cotton).

    Step-by-step description of actions

    To begin with, I'll tell you how to crochet a kettle heating pad. She will be in the form of a chicken.

    Crochet warmer

    After choosing the design and type, let's get to work. Consider the option of making a closed heating pad, since it is easier to perform. It is better to start knitting from the bottom. We collect the first row of loops, equal to the width of the teapot 2 cm. Then we knit in a circle up to 1/3 of the height. After that, we subtract the loops on both sides (from the side of the spout and the handle) by the 1st in each row and so on until the end of the teapot height plus 1 cm.

    At the end of the work, close the part, fold it in half to make an even trapezoid and connect both edges with the last column. The bottom edge can be made with contrasting threads.

    Then we knit a circle for the head (of two halves), on which we attach eyes-buttons on both sides (you can glue ready-made ones). We make the beak in the form of a triangle. Having collected all the details, we sew the blank and stuff it (with cotton wool, scraps, etc.).

    We attach the finished head to one of the ends. We make the wings and sew them on the sides of the trapezoid. At the end of the work, we cut out the inner cotton part. This will prevent yarn fluff from entering the kettle. It should be 0.3 cm less along the side seam, and 1 cm longer than the top one.

    Sewing the lining. The edges, if the material crumbles, are processed with an overlock, zigzag or finishing tape. Now we connect the parts. Knitted cover we turn it with the seams inward, the lining - with the seams outward and insert it into the first one, we fasten the parts. We fold the bottom of the lining and attach it to the outer part.

    Needle warmer

    The second option is for knitting. The knitting pattern is simple: we type an edge row equal to the volume of the teapot + 1 cm and knit a garter stitch fabric two heights + 2 cm.Fold it in half, sew the sides. We knit the ears tightly so that they stand.

    There are two ways - either cast on the stitches from the top row or separately. The number of loops affects the length and firmness of the ears. Better to limit yourself to 10-15. When working at the beginning of each row, we knit the first two loops together. So we knit until the end, until there are two or one loops left.

    Sew on ears, eyes and a button nose (or glue on purchased ones) and embroider antennae. Top part already ready. Further, everything is the same as described above.

    Sewn heating pad

    The third type is for those who like to sew. We draw a semicircle with a diameter of 1-2 cm larger than the teapot. We cut out the workpiece from fabric, non-woven and padding polyester. We fold the fabric with the right side inward, apply a synthetic winterizer to the seamy side and connect along the perimeter, leaving the bottom open.

    We sew the flizelin around the perimeter (except for the bottom), leaving 10 cm on one side.Then we put the lining with the front side inward and sew along the bottom, turn it out through the hole, which we then sew with a blind seam manually or on a typewriter. Everything is ready! Enjoy your tea!
