After removing the gel polish. Treatment of nails on the hands and feet after gel polish, building. Folk recipes, pharmacy products, IBX system. Special tools for the restoration of thinned nails

breast cancer

Shellac, gel polishes and other resistant coatings that are dried with an ultraviolet lamp made a splash: finally, a resistant manicure for 2-3 weeks! But after removing the coating, many girls noted that the nails look terrible: they exfoliate, break, and become thinner.

The gel that is applied to the nails is a complex chemical compound based on hydrated collagen, which is “fused” into the top layer of the nail plate using ultraviolet light. When removing the coating, it is removed along with the very top layer of the nail plate. Therefore, when a new manicure method was invented, heated discussions arose among specialists about how safe the technique was. In fact, the controversy has not subsided so far, so the first piece of advice that is unanimously voiced by leading manicure experts is that resistant coatings cannot be applied all the time. Recommended mode - 2 manicures with a resistant coating - 3 months break (without coating or with regular varnish).

But there are still some things you need to know before you decide. The ultraviolet light used during the procedure is very aggressive to skin cells. If you have moles on your hands, be especially careful. And the owners sensitive skin The UV lamp can even cause a burn!

Under a resistant coating, the nail plate is completely devoid of oxygen and moisture, which is an additional factor that causes the plate to dry out, become brittle and delamination.

When removing the coating, an aggressive solution is used, which is applied to the nails under foil or a special impervious material for at least 20 minutes. It also destroys the nail.

If you still think that a permanent manicure is worth it, take care to properly restore your nails after removing the coating.

Benefits of gel nail polish

Manicure with gel polish slowly but surely displaces familiar classics- more and more manufacturers are trying to create the safest formula for the nail plate and as many trendy shades as possible for their gel lines. Yes, gel polish has a lot of advantages:

  • Durability and brightness
  • A variety of coating textures - gloss, mat, shimmer, etc.
  • Wide color palette
  • Strengthening the nail plate
  • Easy to apply: gel polish manicure can be easily done at home
  • Relative safety for nails and cuticles

Gel polish removal and reapplying

After 10-20 days, you will need to remove the coating. Even if there are no chips and cracks on it, the nail plate will grow back, and a solid regrown unpainted part of the nail will show off near the cuticle. The faster the nails grow, the more often it is necessary to update the color. There is no need to get rid of this coating on your own. The risk of damaging the nails is too high and then undergoing a very long recovery procedure, which will rather be waiting until the damaged plate grows together. Even if you do not want to re-coat your nails with gel polish, go to the salon to remove the old layer.

  1. Sometimes, before removing the coating, the craftsmen go over the glossy layer of varnish with a hard file to remove the top base. It depends on the quality of the gel polish.
  2. During the nail polish removal procedure itself, the master will first carefully soak the cotton pads with a special agent, then apply them to the nails, after which they will tightly wrap each finger with foil on top. You will have to sit in this form for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Then the foil and cotton pads will be removed, along with them the main part of the varnish should come off the nails. The remains are removed with an orange stick, and the nails are delicately polished.
  4. Now you can reapply gel polish or do a regular manicure.

  • Don't save! Go through the procedure only with a professional master who uses proven expensive tools in his work. They fit really well, shine for a long time and, most importantly, they are easily removed from the nail without injuring it and without requiring the use of hard files.
  • Do not go with gel polish for longer than the prescribed three weeks. In this case, serious problems with the health and appearance of your nails are provided to you.
  • Take a break after every 2-3 treatments. And it is better to alternate gel polish and traditional coating. Masters of nail service began to use gel polishes relatively recently. A few years ago, no one had heard of him. But, now almost all the girls in the world prefer this particular coating. Its popularity is due to the fact that it lasts a long time and has a beautiful mirror shine.

What is gel polish

Also called shellac - it is a cross between ordinary varnish and gel. This coating is applied like a regular varnish, but due to the special texture it is dried under special lamps. High-quality gel polish does not contain harmful chemicals and serves as a “protection” for the nail plate. Shellac lasts up to 2 weeks. Unlike ordinary varnishes, it does not crack or peel off.

What is the difference between gel polishes and gel polishes

The main difference between these two tools is in the purpose. Gel is a substance for building. When it hardens, it forms a dense coating. It is used for strengthening and healing.

They also differ in composition. If gel polish includes pigments, various natural acids and wax, then these substances do not exist in biogel.

different removal technology. The gel can be removed with ordinary acetone. To remove gel polish, you need special equipment.

Biogel practically does not injure nail plate. Through this coating, she can breathe, which is beneficial. What can not be said about shellac. Oxygen does not enter through the shellac structure, the nails become thinner and lose their elasticity and strength.

What are the complications from the constant and incorrect application of gel polish

Before applying, it is important to make sure that it consists of natural ingredients and is completely harmless. When using a high-quality coating, the negative impact is minimized.

With frequent “socking” of shellac, the nail plate becomes thinner, exfoliates, turns yellow and becomes dull, lifeless and brittle. To avoid this, periodically she needs to be given a rest.

During the interaction of nails with hot water, the coating expands and then sharply narrows. This leads to the formation of a large number of microcracks through which various infections and bacteria can penetrate.

The tools with which the master does a manicure or pedicure must be sterile. Otherwise, you can get a fungal infection.

Gel manicure has become a godsend for everyone: with it, you can not think about the beauty of nails for almost a month. True, women often complain that after a gel manicure, their nails exfoliate and break. We figured out how to quickly restore them.

shorten as much as possible

Damaged nails are best trimmed so that they do not break further, and then with a nail file. With her nails do not cling to anything (unlike almond-shaped or square).

Strengthen nails

Our nail plate consists of keratinocytes, which make up its framework. They are like rooftops. When the gel manicure is removed, the top layer of the protective “roof” is also removed. Therefore, the nails become weak and brittle.

Your task is to strengthen their frame. This requires special therapeutic varnishes, BB creams for nails, serums with calcium and vitamins. Therapy may take two weeks. All this time you can not do a gel manicure or use ordinary nail polishes.

Take care of cuticles

When gel polish is dried under a UV lamp or removed with a special liquid, wrapping nails in foil, it dries the cuticle very much. But under it is soft nail(living part of the plate), which requires nutrition.

Hand creams and serums with allantoin and collagen are suitable for moisturizing, as well as cuticle oils based on apricot or olive with vitamins (primarily with vitamin E). Oils not only moisturize it well, but also nourish the soft nail, stimulating the growth of strong and healthy nails. After applying oils, massage into the cuticle area.

Make baths

To strengthen nails, you need to do it once or twice a week with oils with vitamins A and E, sea salt, essential oils orange, lemon or patchouli. All these useful components will be absorbed into the steamed skin faster and will have a better therapeutic effect.

Put on gloves

All housework (including washing dishes) must be done with gloves. Chemicals dry the skin of the hands and cuticles, weaken the nails. If you feel uncomfortable, try wearing cotton gloves under rubber gloves.

Undergo in-salon treatments

If the situation with the nails is completely deplorable (they break almost from a breath of wind), you should contact the specialists. There are a number of salon procedures that strengthen nails well, and at the same time improve the condition of the skin of the hands.

For example, a preparation based on honey and beeswax applied to the nails, the substance forms a protective film on the surface of the nail plate (simulating a layer of keratinocytes). The procedure must be repeated several times within two weeks to achieve the effect.

Chocolate wrap is even more pleasant and useful for nails: melted chocolate is applied to the nails and skin of the hands for 20-30 minutes. Cocoa butter nourishes the skin and restores damaged nail plates, while you enjoy the aroma.

Apply paraffin

This procedure can be done both in the salon and at home. Paraffin is heated in a bath to 40 degrees. Then the hands are lowered there, then they are wrapped in polyethylene and wrapped with a towel on top. We must wait 15-20 minutes, and then remove the paraffin mask. The procedure helps to strengthen nails, smoothes the skin of the hands, slows down the aging process.

Expert opinion

The belief that nails deteriorate under gel coatings came to us from the 2000s. And then it was justified: when building up, the masters cut off three to five lipid layers and dried the nails with the help of special tools (acid primers and bonds).

The nail industry does not stand still. Over the past 18 years, the approach of craftsmen to their work has changed, and the materials have become better. When working with gel and gel polish in our time, the preparation of the nail plate is minimal, all lipid layers remain intact. The adhesion of the gel (gel polish) and the nail plate has been brought to a high level. The use of special tools is required only in particularly difficult cases, for example, with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

Unfortunately, gel coatings are still not suitable for everyone, 15-20% of people are forced to look for an alternative. As a rule, this happens due to the individual characteristics of the body: hyperhidrosis, disorders hormonal background, pregnancy, menopause, allergies.

Polina Nazaretyan, nail expert of N.a.i.l.s Russia studios

Nowadays it is difficult to find a girl who would not cover her nails with gel polish. Many completely switch to such a manicure, because the coating lasts for a long time, and someone, having received a negative experience, refuses to cover with gel polish. In fact, the materials used to prepare and coat nails with gel polish do not harm the nail plate in any way. The harm is rough, wrong basic manicure or improper removal of materials.

Problems arising after permanent manicure

Our nails are like newspapers: they are made up of layers that fit tightly together. With poor-quality demanicure, the upper layers of the nail bed are intentionally or not damaged or completely removed, so their fragility, softness, delamination is observed, there is a feeling that the nails hurt.

After wearing shellac, the girls note that the nails became weak, brittle, began to exfoliate. This can happen both in the salon and at home. A manicurist in a modern salon will remove varnish with a milling cutter or special tools, soaking the nail in them.

The gel polish is removed with a cutter only up to the base, therefore, before the color coating, there must be a leveling layer of the base coat so as not to saw through the nail plate. If the master removes the gel polish with a cutter and the client feels an unpleasant burning sensation, then the master simply cuts the nail as well. Because of such simply inhumane removal, nails suffer: the upper layers are removed.

For carelessness or other reasons, the master in only one place can cut more than necessary. Then a recess will appear on the nail plate, which is almost impossible to hide on your own.

But even when removing with the help of special tools, troubles can arise. After soaking, you can’t thoughtlessly pick the gel polish leaving the nail, it’s also unnecessary to overdo it where the coatings are not wet - it’s better to apply the product and wait. A metal pusher does more damage than a wooden stick, so you need to be careful with it.

You need to take a break in manicure: truth or myth

Until now, controversy on this issue has not subsided. It is widely believed that nails need moisture, air and other "charms" of modern cities. However, no manicurist will tell the client that it's time to take a break. Not because it is his source of income, but because a manicure does not need any break.

The fact is that physiologically the nail is a dead structure. Such structures do not need to "breathe" and "rest" from gel polish. First of all, this may be necessary for the person himself, because it happens that any color or the very fact that there is a coating on the nails is psychologically annoying and you want to take a break from the manicure.

How to restore nails after shellac

As mentioned earlier, nails are not living tissue, so if there was any damage, then the nails cannot be cured. You can only mask the defect cosmetically or support the development of the nail, using vitamins, macro- and microelements necessary for the formation of healthy nails.

The nail is formed in the matrix - the back of the nail bed. In order for the nail plate to be strong and healthy, you need to moisturize the cuticle and massage it.

home remedies

Healing properties cosmetic oils, of which there is a wide variety modern market, have long been known to all.

Ways to use oils

  1. In the evening, before going to bed, lubricate the cuticles, making a massage, and wash off the oil in the morning. Almost any unrefined oils will do: olive, jojoba, grape seed, linseed:
  2. make a mask from the same oils: having completely lubricated your hands with cosmetic nourishing oil, put on gloves and leave it overnight, you can also do this procedure while doing household chores. This procedure affects the skin of the hands the best way: the skin is softened, nourished, rejuvenated;
  3. You can buy cuticle oil at a beauty store and use it to lubricate your cuticles from time to time. This product is less oily than natural oils from a pharmacy, so it can be used at any convenient time.

Baths for nails and now do not lose popularity

In order to spend a pleasant and useful procedure, you will need ordinary sea salt, if desired, you can add various aromatic oils, iodine. Of course, before the bath, it is necessary to remove any products from the nails, otherwise there will be no effect.

Add sea salt and oils to the water at a comfortable temperature, immerse the handles in a container for 20-30 minutes, periodically massaging the cuticles.

Ready-made store products

Purchased funds will help in bringing the nails after an unsuccessful removal of gel polish into a decent look.

  • The very first assistants in this are strengthening varnishes. They make the nail plate shiny, visually healthy, and, depending on the product, stimulate the growth of nails or strengthen them, dividing them more densely, and protect against negative impact environment. Apply such funds in accordance with the instructions indicated on the package. The composition of such varnishes should contain proteins, from which a strong and healthy nail plate is built, minerals, calcium.
  • Serums for nails, most often, are the same as varnishes. The difference is that they have a more liquid texture and less even out the structure of the nail plate. But manufacturers claim that whey contains more nutrients.
  • You can also bring your nails into proper shape with the help of polishing, if there is no desire to resort to chemicals. You can polish your nails only if the nails do not hurt, since the polishing file, or buff, also removes several layers of nails.

After the nails have deteriorated from gel polish, you should not completely abandon the manicure. Well-groomed hands are, first of all, clean, tidy nails without dry cuticles and rough skin with a shiny nail plate.

Prevention

Timely, high-quality, careful manicure is a guarantee of both beauty and health of nails. Not a single procedure will restore, cure a nail plate damaged by improper removal.

  1. To avoid incidents in the nail salon, always tell the master that there are discomfort. When doing a manicure at home, never forget the golden rule: it is better not to finish it than to cut it.
  2. It is worth making a habit of using cuticle oils and hand creams, this is true at any time of the year.
  3. Massage your cuticles with cream before bed to improve absorption. useful substances at the site of nail formation.
  4. Now, after a long, harsh winter, the body needs nutrients more than ever, so you should think about drinking a course of vitamins. To strengthen the nails, those that promise to increase the level of calcium in the body are suitable. But keep in mind that the result is noticeable only after 3-6 months of taking dietary supplements. It is also better to consult a specialist when choosing vitamins.

Thus, a gel polish manicure is not as scary as it is sometimes made out to be. Be more attentive not only to the choice of design, color of manicure, but also to its removal, because it also determines how the subsequent manicure will look like.

The law of nature, the law of justice, the law of meanness - you can call this phenomenon whatever you like, but its essence will not change from this. And it lies in the fact that all phenomena in life have a reverse side. Therefore, there are no completely safe operations and absolutely harmless cosmetic procedures. But we all take risks if the benefits from it are greater than its disadvantages. For example, we decide to do a long-term manicure, despite the harm it causes. natural nails. Unfortunately, some manicurists do not even warn their clients about what will happen to the nails after gel polish or shellac. Therefore, girls who are satisfied with beautiful and well-groomed hands do not even think about how to restore their nails after shellac. The consequences of such carelessness become clear only after removing the varnish. Dealing with them is no easy task. But you can completely restore your nails after shellac if you follow our advice.

What is shellac? The effect of shellac on nails
To effectively restore nails, you will have to figure out what shellac is and what effect it has on the natural nail plate. Moreover, there is nothing difficult to understand here - neither theoretically nor technically. Shellac coating is a kind of "hybrid" between nail polish and nail extension gel. Well, Shellac is, in fact, the name of a registered brand that protects this know-how. Unlike gel, shellac is not suitable for lengthening and / or correcting the nail plate, because it does not form, but only covers it. Shellac is stored in the same bottles as any nail enamel. But he, like the gel, needs ultraviolet radiation, under the influence of which it hardens. Just in the air, like classic nail polish, shellac does not dry out. Such a synthesis of the best qualities: the ease of application of the varnish and the durability of the gel in the sock.

But the features of shellac are not limited to this. He has several other features that should determine your choice of whether to do a manicure with shellac:

  • Shellac stays on nails for a long time, up to 14 days, subject to careful wear. True, in two weeks your own nails will have time to grow, so the coating will have to be removed and / or renewed in any case.
  • Shellac is removed with a special solvent, and is not cut off mechanically, like nails extended with gel.
  • Shellac is applied only to strong, completely healthy nails. A problematic (brittle, exfoliating, brittle) nail under shellac will remain just as weak, and if it breaks, then along with an expensive coating.
  • The application of shellac is not prohibited during pregnancy, when taking hormonal drugs, etc. However, it is better to consult a doctor first, and then go to a manicurist.
  • It is believed that shellac, unlike extensions, does not harm nails. This is not entirely true. When compared with extended gel nails, the shellac layer really spares the natural nail plate. But its use still does not go unnoticed.
How does shellac damage nails?
What is the effect of shellac on nails? Contrary to the ardent beliefs of manufacturers and manicure masters, a durable coating does not pass without leaving a trace. Shellac damage occurs for several reasons:
  1. Before applying the coating, the nail is carefully polished so that the long-lasting result is perfectly even. An inexperienced or overzealous master can overdo it and thin the nail with polishing.
  2. A resistant coating assumes that during the entire time allotted to it, the nail plate will be tightly closed from air and natural sunlight. Since the nails are part of your living organism, such confinement makes them drier and thinner than before applying shellac.
  3. As for ultraviolet irradiation during the manicure procedure itself, this is just the most harmless stage. But if your skin is sensitive to UV rays, you can use sunscreen for your hands.
Shellac is removed using an acetone-based solvent. This aggressive substance dries out both the nail plate and the skin around it. The action of acetone is aggravated by the fact that in order to completely dissolve the shellac, it must be held on the nails for a while. Therefore, after you have done, vilified and removed the shellac, the nails need to be restored.

How to quickly restore nails after shellac
The first thing to do before starting active nail therapy is to define goals and objectives. When it comes to recovering from shellac, your nails are most likely not broken, but thinned and dried out. Accordingly, the struggle for their beauty and health should be carried out in these areas: to moisturize and nourish the nails.

  1. Hydration. As soon as possible after removing the shellac, give your nails a moisturizing oil bath. To do this, heat unrefined olive oil to a temperature warmer than room temperature and dip the extreme phalanges of your fingers into it. Hold until the oil has cooled - about 5 minutes. After that, blot with a napkin and let the remaining oil soak in. Depending on the condition of the nails, this procedure can be repeated the next evening. Remember to use moisturizer throughout the day. And, of course, drink clean water - at least 2 liters daily. Without a normal water balance, the body simply will not waste precious moisture on such “peripheral” areas as nails.
  2. Nutrition. Great advantage vegetable oils is that they moisturize and nourish the nails at the same time. But for severely damaged nails, this may not be enough. Therefore, your task is to supply the body with a sufficient amount of “building material” for new, healthy nails. Therefore, on the way to the master who will remove shellac, look at the pharmacy for a multivitamin-mineral complex. There are even preparations with specially selected components - the so-called vitamins for nails, hair and beauty in general. At the same time, increase the amount of protein in your diet, give up fast carbohydrates (sweets, soda).
  3. Protection. Nails weakened by shellac do not resist environmental threats well. To prevent them from breaking off and exfoliating, apply hand cream with silicone and glycerin before each exit from the house. Do housework only with gloves. In the cold season, do not go outside without mittens. At night, you can make a mask for nails. To do this, apply a rich nourishing cream on your nails, and put on special cotton gloves on top of it. Don't take them off until morning.
  4. Whitening. In some women, the nails react to the removal of shellac with a change in color. If your nails turn yellow too, try bleaching them with the safest folk method- lemon juice. The easiest way to implement it is to cut a fresh lemon in half and dip your fingertips with nails into its pulp. After 3-5 minutes, blot your nails and massage them. Lemon not only whitens the nail plate, but at the same time moisturizes and nourishes it due to the high content of essential oils. In addition, the acid strengthens the fibers on a chemical level, so that the nail becomes denser and smoother.
  5. Strengthening. Baths for nails will have to be done regularly, and not just immediately after removing shellac. But this time we are not talking about oil, but about salt procedures. Sea salt, enriched with essential oils specifically for hand care, is sold in pharmacies and cosmetics stores. But even the most common sea salt from a deli will have a beneficial effect on weakened nails. Dilute two teaspoons of salt in a glass of very warm water and every evening for at least a week (or better just make it a good habit) keep your nails in this bath.
  6. Support. During those two weeks, while you carelessly wore shellac, your nails managed to grow noticeably. After removing the resistant coating, it is desirable to cut off the excess - it is this part that turns out to be the thinnest and most vulnerable. But back side nails also need attention. It is better not to cut the cuticle overdried with acetone, but carefully push it back with a wooden stick (as with an unedged manicure) and lubricate it with a special emollient oil. Carry a bottle or jar of cuticle product in your purse and/or place it on your desk.
  7. Iodine applications. Iodine is a valuable trace element for our body. It helps damaged nails to recover faster. Try smearing your nails with iodine before going to bed (you can use a cotton swab). Do not be afraid to paint the skin and nails - in the morning the iodine will be absorbed, and the hands will receive their portion of mineral "feeding".
  8. Medical coverage. After enjoying a beautiful durable coating, it's time to put up with restorative formulations. You can choose and buy them in the salon from the master or in a cosmetic store. As a rule, these are packaged in bottles with a brush, reminiscent of nail polish, multi-purpose products. They simultaneously moisturize, nourish the nail plate and protect it from external factors. They can serve as a basis for decorative varnish, but it is still better not to apply it to weakened nails. But therapeutic nail polishes visually improve their condition due to their own shine and smoothness.
