Lady in a hat: an image of romance,
Elegant, feminine, divine,
A symbol of elegiac poetry,
How beautifully natural she is...

An affectionate song of strict tenderness,
Exciting beautiful music
A halo of the mystery of the vastness,
The feeling of admiration is wonderful ...

Charming sweetness,
Lady in a hat: charming in a way,
With a look of downcast pride,
Freedom looks endless...

The shaky border of languor,
eighteenth century fashion,
Canons of girlish modesty,
Lady in a hat: Woman from God!!!

Women have many ways to change their appearance beyond recognition. But the easiest is to wear a hat!
The word "hat" is translated from German as "a headdress that retains a stable shape." It consists of a bottom, crown and field. For the manufacture of hats, straw, felt, cloth, leather, fur, fabrics, etc. are used. Due to the variation in the size of the crown, brim and bottom, there are many styles of hats. Nowadays, any men's hat can be women's.
The hat, like many other items of clothing, was born with a purely practical purpose. So, in the south, only a hat with huge brim could save from the scorching rays of the sun. The first such hat was the Greek petatos, which, according to legend, was invented by the cunning god Hermes. It was a headdress with a crown and always with fields. In this it was convenient to travel in bad weather, and if there was no wind and rain, the petasos was thrown back, because it was hung on a belt or ribbon. From him came all the Stetson, sombrero, Panama and other hats of the Old and New Worlds.
The hat received its new purpose - decorative - during the Middle Ages. The choice of styles of hats became really great, they began to be decorated with plumes (bunches of feathers), fur, ribbons and jewelry.

Since ancient times, the hat was considered a beautiful and sophisticated accessory, and almost all women wore this headdress. Unfortunately, now only persons of royal blood adhere to this tradition, and modern women– only on special occasions (wedding, party or masquerade ball). It's a pity, because the hat gives the girl a special sophistication, romance and mystery.

In every girl, men would like to see a mystery, and to create an aura of mystery and a special mood, they used a veil - a thin mesh covering the head. Now the veil is inseparable from headdresses, which are becoming relevant again.

A hat with a veil for a wedding is a great replacement for a traditional tiara with a veil. A cylinder hat, a boater or a pillbox decorated with an airy mesh is a great opportunity to feel like a society lady at a wedding, cocktail party or in a restaurant.

A hat with a veil can be oval, round, brimless, in the shape of a cylinder, cap or heart. The tablet hat fits perfectly into. The mesh of the veil covers the entire face or only reaches the lips or nose. If the hat and veil completely cover the head and face, such a headdress is also quite acceptable for a wedding. Hats are decorated with feathers, rhinestones, bows, braid, beads, flowers, hairpins, brooches and other decorative elements.

It is not necessary to look for a hat in a fashion boutique - you can sew it yourself. You will find a master class of a hat with a veil with your own hands in this article. It does not require special costs and time, and you can always choose the perfect style.

How to choose a hat with a veil

Stylists have their own secrets for choosing a hat, and the combination with clothes of a certain style is not the only criterion here.

  1. For a wide face with large features, a hat with upturned brim is suitable.
  2. An elongated and thin face requires a wide-brimmed hat with a flat crown.
  3. For snub-nosed lovers of hats with a veil, you need to choose a style in the shape of a hood.
  4. A pillbox hat covered with a veil is a versatile option, as it fits almost any type of face.
  5. For tall girls, a hat with a flat crown and wide brim will help to visually correct the height.
  6. Petite girls fit hats with a mesh with a high crown (like cylinders).

How to wear a hat

Landing on the head of a mini-hat is strictly regulated. They wear it on its side, tilting it slightly forward and giving it a flirtatious look. You can attach a mini-hat to your hair in different ways:

  • hairpins (special loops are sewn for them);
  • to match the hair or hat (you can simply glue the hat on it with a thermal gun);
  • combs and hairpins.

To give the shape of a veil (usually the mesh is quite soft), you need to apply hairspray to it and fix it on the head model (or other blank device). Then give it the necessary shape and fix it again with varnish.

Hat options

A mini-hat with a veil can be based on a wide rim, comb or hairpin decorated with flowers, ribbons, beads.

Instead of riselin, to make the base of a hat with your own hands from paper, use toilet paper, napkins or other soft paper. To make a frame using the papier-mâché technique, a layer of pieces of paper is laid on a head blank or other form (sieve, children's ball), smeared with glue and this operation is repeated until the desired layer thickness (about 10 times), and the base itself does not need to be lubricated with glue ! Blisters are periodically removed with a dry cloth. The finished base must be left to dry for a day at room temperature (on a battery - for three hours). The desired shape is cut out of the workpiece and sheathed with fabric, as in our master class.

Girls love to dress up. and even more so for themed costumed holidays! If you are planning a Spring Festival, a birthday, a scene about nature, or just want to please your daughter with something unusual and memorable - make a flower hat!

Hat with flowers - DIY

You will need a square sheet of colored paper for the base of the hat. It is necessary to draw two circles on it: the inner one according to the size of the child’s head and the outer one in accordance with the desired width of the headdress fields. Then you need to divide the inner circle into sectors of 45 degrees and make cuts from the center along the lines. Now bend the "teeth" up. The base for the hat is ready.

The next step is to decorate the hat with flowers. Use 3-4 kinds of colored paper to make flowers and butterflies. It's good if there are flowers different shapes and will have contrasting midpoints.

You can also add grass, sun, hearts, stars.

Spring Princess Crown

This crown is very easy to make. You will need a piece of thick cardboard for the base (you can use waste packaging). Make a sketch with a marker and cut out the base.

To decorate the crown, we will use ordinary napkins painted with watercolors. Using PVA glue, glue the crown with colored napkins on both sides.

When the napkins stick and the product is completely dry, you can continue to work. For greater expressiveness, the crown should be circled around the edge with green paint. Then we decorate the crown with multi-colored paper flowers and glue the beads. Bulk flowers from bent strips of paper will make our crown even more elegant.

It remains to fit the crown on the head of your young princess (you can connect the ends of the cardboard tape with a stapler).

crown with big flower

This crown is decorated with only one, but a large and very expressive flower.

We make the basis of the crown from green paper ribbons of the same width. We cover the child’s head with them, and then we form a crosshair so that the crown does not slip onto the forehead.

We cut out the flower petals, make cuts on each of them and lightly pinch to give the petals a curved shape. Then we attach them to the base of the flower, cut out of darker paper. With a dark green pencil, I add lines at the base of each petal to give them an even more natural look.

We make the core of the flower from pieces of a yellow napkin rolled up in lumps, and the stamens from wires with beads put on their ends.
