Cough tablets during pregnancy: the difficulty of choosing. How to treat a cough during pregnancy: effective methods and recipes for quickly combating the disease Three weeks pregnant, what to drink for a cough

Childbirth

Pregnancy is a significant and joyful event in every family. future mother wants to protect the baby, no matter how many days or weeks he is, from all the troubles of life. However, you can’t protect yourself from everything. There may come a time when a calm and peaceful life future mother will cause some disease. The most common unpleasant symptom is cough. Let's figure out how to treat a cough during pregnancy and not.

The problem with this symptom is that it can indicate a dozen different diseases. In most cases, treatment with classical pharmaceutical drugs becomes impossible due to contraindications.

Coughing is a reflex reaction of the body that occurs when it is necessary to clear the airways of foreign objects. It could be sputum, fine dust, some kind of allergen. In the process of one cough, dozens of muscles throughout the body take part - these are the muscles that support the respiratory tract and the abdominal muscles. Therefore, it often becomes unclear how to treat a wet cough during pregnancy, if the usual treatment is to stimulate a wet cough, and the cough itself is dangerous.

For a pregnant woman’s body, a strong cough is a colossal burden. Even more so for the fetus. Coughing is especially dangerous. At this stage, the formation and strengthening of the fetus on the walls of the uterus occurs.

And the danger here is double - on the one hand, the cough is caused by the ingestion of an infectious agent or allergen, which in itself is harmful to the baby’s body. On the other hand, such a powerful muscle contraction necessarily affects the position, well-being and formation of the fetus in the mother’s body.

It is important to understand how and with what to treat cough during pregnancy in order to prevent complications.

A strong and prolonged cough at different stages of pregnancy can provoke certain syndromes in the fetus, and subsequently in the child:

  1. Fetal hypoxia – lack of oxygen supplied by the mother’s blood to the fetus’s body. As a result, circulatory disorders occur and the child’s developing organs do not receive a sufficient amount of oxygenated blood.
  2. Bleeding – it happens that a pregnant woman has a low-lying placenta and contractions of the abdominal wall muscles that occur when coughing provoke increased vascular tone, the vessels may burst and severe uterine bleeding may develop, which is dangerous for the fact of pregnancy itself. early stages.
  3. Reflex increase in uterine tone, resulting in miscarriage . This complication threatens a pregnant woman in the first trimester. When the fetus is poorly attached to the wall of the uterus, and coughing attacks are long and severe, over time the deep muscles of the pelvic organs become involved in the reflex cough. Strong contractions of the uterus can provoke a miscarriage.

As you can see, even the most common cough can pose a serious danger to both the health of the mother and the life of the unborn baby. Therefore, at the first signs of a respiratory disease, a sore throat, a slight cough or runny nose, a pregnant woman is obliged to consult a doctor and, together with him, very carefully select methods for treating cough during pregnancy. It is important to remember that her health no longer belongs only to her.

Specifics of cough treatment

Each period of pregnancy has its own characteristics. Also, each treatment method during these periods has its own specifics. You need to understand that it is not always possible to avoid drug treatment. Folk remedies do not work in all cases and not for all diseases. But every expectant mother needs to know medications and natural methods of fighting cough.

The most important thing is to remember the principle: you should not consume anything that you would not give to a newborn baby.

Features of the first trimester

The first trimester of pregnancy is the period when the neural tube, the makings of the spine, is formed. During this period, the organisms of the mother and fetus are most sensitive to all chemical influences.

For this reason, almost all drug interventions are contraindicated for pregnant women in the first trimester. In medicine, there is even a separate group of diseases caused by the influence of drugs - iatrogenic.

Before treating cough in early pregnancy, it is necessary to determine its causes. Sometimes the woman herself can do this, but in most cases the help of a doctor is necessary.

Cough can be caused by one or more reasons:

  • allergy - the allergen enters the respiratory tract along with the air, settles on the mucous membrane and causes irritation, which entails a reflex cough;
  • respiratory diseases of a viral or bacterial nature;
  • hypothermia of the respiratory tract.
  • consequences of bad habits (smoking);
  • extreme anxiety and stress can also cause coughing.

Once the cause is found, treatment can begin. There are many safe ways how to cure cough during pregnancy. For example, at the very beginning of the disease, you can try to eliminate the cough using the simplest known methods. One of these methods is with a small amount soda salts

The alkaline environment perfectly moisturizes the airways and removes mucus. It is also important not to forget that a sufficient amount of warm liquid must enter the body. This will help reduce the temperature, if any, and remove allergens from the body.

If the cough continues and your general health does not improve, you should consult a doctor. After examining and listening to the lungs, the doctor will prescribe treatment. Among the drugs that are acceptable for the treatment of cough in the first trimester, all herbal preparations come first.

Good old Mukaltin, syrups based on herbal decoctions and the herbal decoctions themselves (chest collection). In special cases, the doctor may prescribe tablets like Libexin. However, independent use of such medications is unacceptable. In any case, a specialist knows better how to treat cough during pregnancy in the 1st trimester.

Treatment in the second trimester

In the second trimester of pregnancy, the fetus develops natural protection, which significantly expands the possibilities of cough treatment. The fetus itself is already more formed and wealthy, but is still extremely sensitive.

It is possible to use antiallergic drugs in the form of Suprastin or Azelastine if the cough is of an allergic nature. However, their use is justified only with an adequate risk-benefit assessment.

Cough may also be caused by colds, bronchitis and even pneumonia. In this case, in addition to cough medications, antiviral and antibacterial drugs are also prescribed.

For treating cough during pregnancy, the 2nd trimester is more comfortable than the first. It is possible to choose the most effective drug from those available:

  • plant-based syrups (Althea, Pertusin, Gerbion);
  • syrups containing codeine (Sinekod) - use after a doctor’s prescription;
  • tablets Mucaltin, Bronchipret.

Treatment of cough during pregnancy remains no less relevant. folk remedies- teas with raspberries and honey, warm milk, herbal decoctions.

But you should not steam your legs, take hot baths or put mustard plasters on - this can cause bleeding and pregnancy failure.

Specifics of the third trimester

Features of therapy in the third trimester are not much different from the second. Usually at this stage of fetal ripening, its growth, formation and improvement of organ functions occur. The fetus is able to resist harmful influences from the outside due to the protective mechanisms of the mother. But the question remains: if a cough occurs during pregnancy in the 3rd trimester, how to treat it?

The peculiarity of the period, why it is considered separately, is that it is a natural process of preparation for birth. It becomes more permeable to bacteria and viruses. At earlier stages, the fetus does not have the opportunity to become infected, but extraneous, foreign substances that the mother can “supply” into the body may well penetrate the placenta to the fetus.

The special period of the third trimester is 37–38 weeks. During this period of pregnancy, the infection can enter the amniotic fluid, which is often swallowed by the fetus.

You can use herbal preparations based on primrose, marshmallow, plantain, coltsfoot, Mucaltin and Stoptussin tablets. You can even take Ambroxol syrup as prescribed by your doctor in a therapeutic dose.

Traditional medicine also remains in force, but you should be careful when choosing herbal ingredients, excluding those that increase the tone of the uterus. Otherwise, pathological premature birth is possible.

Features of the treatment of dry and wet cough

Both doctors and TV advertisements repeat in unison that dry and wet coughs have different reason origin. A dry cough is a consequence of irritation or disruption of nervous activity and is not always associated with the presence of mucus in the bronchi or upper respiratory tract. Therefore, the treatment of dry and wet coughs is approached differently.

When wondering how to treat a severe cough during pregnancy, you need to assess the risks. Early stages exclude self-medication and require a careful and purely individual selection of drugs for treatment, because, as mentioned earlier, there is a risk of miscarriage as a result of strong contractions of the abdominal wall muscles. Therefore, treatment of cough during pregnancy includes herbal (Gerbion, Gedelix) and gentle traditional medicine.

On later dates caution remains a priority, however, the range of medications is wider - various synthetic drugs can already be used - Sinekod, Stoptussin. They act on the respiratory center in the brain, and the cough goes away faster.

There is no need to talk about the fact that any painful manifestations during pregnancy become a disaster for the expectant mother. Even a seemingly random and insignificant “sneeze” can alert a pregnant woman and make her worry about whether she has caught something somewhere in the world. public place another virus. Moreover, during pregnancy, a weakened immune system is not fully capable, as it was a few months ago, of providing adequate resistance to pathogenic microorganisms attacking the expectant mother.

One of the most common and, by the way, definitely dangerous conditions for pregnant women it becomes - of different etiology, strength and quality. By and large, a cough is nothing more than a protective mechanism: the body, with the help of coughing, tries to get rid of microscopic organisms that are dangerous due to their progression. A cough can have completely different origins: by contracting the muscles of the diaphragm, the body can try to fight irritating allergenic substances, respond to the development of a virus or infection, try to give a sign of...

The dangers of coughing during pregnancy

But, no matter what causes a cough during pregnancy, if it suddenly appears and makes itself felt with enviable regularity and pain, you should think about possible methods of treatment and elimination of this unhealthy condition during this period. After all, coughing during pregnancy is not only an unpleasant manifestation, but also quite dangerous for the normal development of pregnancy and the safe development and growth of the fetus.

Thus, a cough, as you can feel, is always accompanied by muscle contraction, which is fraught with the appearance of uterine tone. Moreover, a cough is dangerous in the presence of isthmic-cervical insufficiency or, at a later date, with diagnosed placenta previa. A debilitating cough, in addition, does not allow a woman to breathe normally, thus blocking the supply of oxygen to the fetus. The result may be a disruption of the normal blood supply to the baby, and, as a result, fetal hypoxia.

We should also not forget that, at first, a mild and, by and large, “signal” cough in the early stages, in the absence of proper treatment, can develop into quite serious forms of the disease. For example, an “early” cold, which, among other things, may be indicated by a cough, without timely intervention can develop into serious forms, where, without the help of a doctor and the use of special means not enough. But, as we remember, medications during pregnancy are very unsafe, and some of them are completely prohibited for use during pregnancy.

So what should a expectant mother do if a cough appears, and are there any methods to combat it? Of course there is. And you should tackle the cough “as soon as possible”, after, of course, visiting a doctor and establishing with his participation the origin of the cough. Surely, if the cough is not accompanied by fever and other manifestations accompanying the infectious disease, it is first better to try to eliminate it using safe folk methods that have been tested by time and experience.

Cough during pregnancy: what is prohibited?

Under no circumstances should coughs during pregnancy be treated using the usual “thermal” methods used in any other cases. Mustard plasters, cupping, foot steaming, hot baths - all this is now strictly prohibited. In addition, physiotherapeutic procedures are also undesirable during pregnancy.

Exposure to heat is a direct path to increased blood pressure, which is now strictly contraindicated. But, at the same time, not all procedures involving the “thermal method” should be postponed until better times. Furthermore- it is heat, when used correctly, that most often becomes the main weapon in the fight against cough during pregnancy. Namely, warm drinks, the practice of inhalations on a “warm basis” and gargling with warm decoctions and mixtures.

Alternative medicine, namely it becomes the first outpost in the treatment of cough during pregnancy, offers quite a variety of ways to eliminate spasmodic contractions of the diaphragm. Among them are “proper” warm drinks in the form of fruit and berry fruit drinks and warm milk or tea, inhalations, herbal decoctions or infusions and, of course, gargling.

Drinking against cough

Tea, tea and more tea. Black, green, herbal, most importantly - not strong and not very hot. You should always add a slice of lemon and a small amount of honey to tea for treatment: vitamins and warming are provided in this case. In addition, to warm up and strengthen the immune system, you can put ginger in tea: dry ground or in the form of fresh grated ginger.

Warm milk also relieves coughs well: according to one recipe, the drink is prepared by adding honey and soda to milk, another recipe suggests combining milk with sage. The first recipe involves adding 1 teaspoon of honey, a third of a teaspoon of butter and soda in the amount at the tip of a knife to heated milk. The drink should be drunk before going to bed and immediately go to bed. According to another recipe, put 1 tbsp in a glass of milk. spoon of sage herb, boil it all over low heat and let the drink brew for 3-4 hours. The infusion, again, is drunk in the evening, in anticipation of going to bed.

A tasty and healthy drink for a coughing pregnant woman would be a decoction of figs in milk. The healing drink is prepared as follows: 4 pieces of dried figs are poured with 500 ml of milk, and the whole thing is simmered over low heat until the milk acquires a brownish tint. The finished drink is taken 50 ml three times a day.

Another effective “anti-cough” product for pregnant women is onion. Take ½ kg of onion, 2 tbsp. spoons of honey and 400 g of granulated sugar. Pour the mixture into 1 liter of water. Place on the stove, on the burner over low heat. Keep on low heat for 30 minutes. Cool, cool. Let's strain it. We take 1 tbsp. spoon 4-6 times a day for severe cough.

Inhalations against cough

Was it just our imagination, or did you still want to breathe over the potatoes? No? Can't be! And we thought that you asked to boil the potatoes precisely because you wanted to breathe over them! Well, they even poured baking soda on the potatoes! Breathe! Breathe! Boiled potatoes in their jackets, sprinkled with soda, are a time-tested antitussive remedy that has been tested by more than one generation of our ancestors.

In addition to the “classic” breathing over potatoes, you can carry out inhalation procedures using medicinal herbs or aromatic oils. In any case, inhalations are carried out for the sole purpose of warming the airways with the use of medicinal agents to cure cough during pregnancy. You can do this by preparing a decoction of 1 type of herb: sage, chamomile, thyme, coltsfoot, juniper twig... Or you can prepare a decoction of several herbs at once.

For example:

  • 2 teaspoons of dry crushed eucalyptus leaves, the same amount of chopped garlic, 1 teaspoon of pine needles (in the form you want) and 1 validol tablet (it will be easier to breathe. Place the mixture in 1 liter of previously boiled water.

Cabbage and honey

This is truly a beneficial combination: cabbage and honey! The cost is garbage: for 1 cabbage leaf there is ½ tbsp. l. honey. Getting ready for bed, spread honey on a cabbage leaf, place the leaf with honey against the body - on the chest - cover it with a warm scarf and go to bed.

Radish and honey

A product proven over generations, tasty, simple, and cheap. All you need is nothing (taking into account, of course, the degree of the disease). Just starting to cough? While walking around the market in the morning, buy radishes and honey, and when you get home, prepare a drink: cut out the core of the radish and put honey in the hole. Leave it overnight: the honey, dissolved in the radish juice, will turn into nectar. Take 1 tsp. up to 6 times a day.

Eliminating cough: gargling during pregnancy

Gargling is a piece of cake, right? All you need for rinsing is chamomile, water and soda. Per 1 liter of water 2 tbsp. spoons of chamomile - boil over low heat for 1 minute. Remove, add 1 tbsp. spoon of salt, cover with a lid and let the broth stand. We gargle with the resulting solution as much as possible during the day with an interval of at least 20 minutes between procedures.

How to treat cough during pregnancy: medications

The use of any synthetic drug must be coordinated with your doctor. In no case do we try to be treated with improvised means, focusing on the advice of friends and girlfriends. Whether it is drugs for dry cough (Stodal, Sinekod), or for wet cough (Bromhexine, Mucaltin, Doctor MOM, Gedelix, Prospan, Chest collection, Gerbion) - treatment with any pharmaceutical product must be authorized by a doctor.

Well, in general, of course, I would like to wish us all not to get sick!

Before treating any cough in anyone, two questions must be addressed: the nature of the cough and the cause of it.

A dry cough is a cough in which sputum is either not produced or is produced, but in very scanty quantities. That is why doctors call this cough unproductive. For it to become productive (that is, wet or moist, producing phlegm), mucus must form. In the meantime, you will be tormented by a dry cough, often hysterical and debilitating.

To alleviate the patient’s condition, it is necessary to calm the dry cough. For this purpose, antitussive drugs are traditionally used to soothe the mucous membrane, as a result of which a dry cough stops and turns into a wet one.

Causes of dry cough

There are many reasons that cause a dry cough. These are various diseases (measles, whooping cough, sinusitis, tuberculosis and others), allergic exacerbations and the initial stage.

During pregnancy, a dry cough most often occurs for the latter reason, and is often accompanied by a runny nose, fever and other symptoms. There is no point in waiting until your cough becomes wet for several reasons. A dry cough causes severe discomfort, prevents you from sleeping, breathing normally, and your stomach is constantly under its influence. After all, during coughing, ligaments contract and muscles tense. And this is not just painful or unpleasant, but can also be dangerous: with placenta previa and low position, a dry cough can provoke bleeding. Therefore, he needs to be treated, or rather, calmed down.

Treatment of dry cough during pregnancy

As we have already said, this can be done with the help of antitussive medications. As a rule, they also have an analgesic, sedative and weak antispasmodic effect. Just read the ingredients of the drug carefully. It must not contain any drugs (for example, codeine or morphine). And in general, use the golden rule when choosing medications: during pregnancy, you can only use those medications that are approved for children under three years of age.

But since taking any medications, even the most harmless ones, during pregnancy and especially in its first trimester is extremely undesirable, it is still better to try to solve the problem with improvised means, that is.

Here everything depends on the characteristics of your body (in particular, on the tolerance of certain components) and on how interested you are in finding a harmless, effective medicine.

First aid for dry cough are: instant effect. Inhaling the vapors of boiled potatoes (preferably in their uniforms), baking soda or alkaline mineral water calms well. But you can make a herbal decoction. For dry cough, decoctions of chamomile, trifoliate, plantain, St. John's wort, and linden blossom are used for inhalation.

Regarding inhalations, it is good if you have a nebulizer or inhaler for this purpose. But you can also do it the old-fashioned way: using a paper funnel or a teapot. You can also breathe directly over the pan, but keep in mind that this method is contraindicated at elevated temperatures. And never inhale over boiling water: start inhaling the vapors 5 minutes after the water boils.

Herbal infusions

Herbal decoctions are useful not only for inhalations. There are many recipes using herbs to help relieve dry cough:

  • Boil 3 liters of water, add 500 g of wheat or rye bran, bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes, strain. Sweeten with burnt sugar. The entire portion of the decoction should be drunk during the day, but always hot. An effective remedy from a strong, debilitating cough.
  • Grind 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds into powder and mix with 50 ml of warm milk. Drink in one go. The infusion relieves chest pain and softens cough.

  • Infuse 1 tablespoon of crushed marshmallow root in a glass of cold water overnight (8-10 hours), strain. Take a third of a glass 3 times a day.
  • Brew a glass of boiling water, like tea, in a porcelain teapot 2 tablespoons of meadow clover flowers, leave for 15 minutes. Drink half a glass warm 3-4 times a day, with honey.
  • Boil a medium-sized onion in 0.5 liters of milk and add a spoonful of honey. This mixture should be consumed at night. The milk is very tasty, does not smell of onions at all, and even children drink it easily. A dry cough after it becomes softer and goes away faster.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of thyme into a glass of boiling water, leave for one hour under the lid and strain. Take a tablespoon 3 times a day.

Warm milk with a small amount of baking soda will help quickly turn a dry cough into a productive one: a quarter of a teaspoon of soda per glass. You can also dilute the milk halfway with mineral water or drink traditional milk with honey.

Rinse

You can soothe a painful, dry cough by gargling. The procedure should be carried out after meals or in between meals. The following fees can be used for this purpose.

  • In equal parts, mix and grind sage herb, eucalyptus herb and calendula officinalis flowers. Brew a tablespoon of the mixture with a glass of boiling water and heat for another 10 minutes under the lid in a water bath, without bringing to a boil, then strain. Use warm. The infusion retains its medicinal properties only 3-4 hours.
  • Mix in equal parts coltsfoot herb, peppermint herb, chamomile flowers, marshmallow root, pine buds, leaves of fireweed and meadow clover flowers. Pour a tablespoon of the crushed mixture into a glass of boiling water and heat for another 15 minutes in a water bath under the lid. Pour the infusion into a thermos and leave for 2 hours, strain.
  • Dilute half a teaspoon in a glass of warm water.
  • Helps with severe cough Apple vinegar. Pour 1 tablespoon of vinegar into 0.5 liters of warm boiled water. Gargle every 2 hours.

Do not forget that a dry cough is also provoked by dry air in the room. Therefore, keep an eye on its optimal humidity. If you don't have a humidifier, place a wet towel on the radiator. You can also humidify the air by spraying water or at least placing bowls of water around the rooms. Unfortunately, no one has canceled regular wet cleaning. And maybe you don’t care about cleanliness in the house, but to make it easier to breathe, it is advisable to wash the floors.

Undoubtedly, before treating a dry cough during pregnancy, it is necessary for the doctor to determine its cause. And only a doctor should prescribe treatment for you during this period. Non-medicinal - including.

Especially for- Elena Kichak

In the first months of pregnancy, women's immunity is weakened. Stress, toxicosis and, of course, a baby demanding useful substances from the mother’s body for its development - all this weakens the expectant mother and makes her susceptible to various diseases. Often pregnant women suffer from cough. It would seem that it is provoked by an ordinary virus, and there is nothing dangerous about it, but during the first trimester, special attention should be paid to this phenomenon.

The first trimester is the time when the fetus's organs are just beginning to form. And, if at this time you start treatment for any disease or use inappropriate means for treatment, this will have a very bad effect on the development of the child.

It is worth knowing that when a pregnant woman coughs, her uterus tenses due to overstrain of the abdominal wall. Such actions can help increase the tone of the uterus, which, in turn, can result in placental abruption, the development of hypoxia, or, worse, miscarriage.

Incorrect treatment of cough during the first trimester of pregnancy can cause a number of bad consequences, and in order to avoid them, you should first try to diagnose the disease yourself. There are a number of diseases of which cough is a symptom:

DiseaseSymptoms
Flu and SARSCharacteristic symptoms of ARVI or influenza are high temperature during the first days of illness, sore throat, runny nose, headache and cough. Usually the illness lasts for one week
Whooping coughWith whooping cough, you may experience nasal congestion and cough for a couple of weeks. A cough with whooping cough differs from a cough with the flu in that it is difficult to eliminate and cannot be eliminated immediately using any means. In the third week, the cough intensifies, and you will have to suffer with it until the fifth week of the disease. Further, coughing attacks occur less frequently, and by the end of the sixth week they disappear
AllergyIf the cough is triggered by an allergy, symptoms may include sneezing, swelling, red eyes, rashes and malaise. Once the object causing the allergy is no longer near the person affected by this phenomenon, it will soon disappear
MeaslesMeasles is distinguished not only by a cough, but also by a bright pink rash all over the body, inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes and throat, as well as fever
PneumoniaThe symptoms of pneumonia are very similar to the symptoms of ARVI. The difference is that the disease is much more severe and affects the lungs to a greater extent. People with pneumonia feel it's harder to breathe
BronchitisSymptoms of bronchitis are similar to colds. The difference is that the cough is more loud and unpleasant. At the beginning of the disease it is dry, then it becomes wet and is accompanied by yellowish, white or even green sputum.
TonsillitisFrequent sore throats, bad breath and enlarged tonsils may indicate tonsillitis. The voice deteriorates, as well as the process of breathing and swallowing

Even if you have already received information about diseases, it is not a fact that you are able to diagnose them yourself. For the most accurate diagnosis, which will help you choose the right treatment, you need to go to the doctor.

How not to and how to treat cough during the first trimester of pregnancy

The biggest mistake in this case is to start self-medication without coordinating anything with the treating doctors. First, it will be difficult for you to diagnose yourself. Secondly, it will not be easy to select the means for treatment, because only a doctor, knowing the characteristics of your pregnancy and your body, will recommend you the means or evaluate your choice.

  • use of mustard plasters;
  • taking bath procedures and hot baths;
  • any physiotherapy;
  • warming your feet in a hot bath;
  • inhalation at high temperatures.

Compresses

Preference should be given only to homemade compresses made from natural ingredients. They can be done daily to achieve maximum positive results. Store-bought compresses, heating pads and mustard plasters are not suitable .

An effective and pleasant-smelling compress is cabbage-honey. Take a large cabbage leaf and cover one side with honey. We apply the honey side to the chest and wrap the body with warm cloth.

Inhalations

Not every person has a special inhaler at home. But, it can be easily replaced by a combination of the most ordinary pan and a warm towel. Required condition– no too high temperatures.

Inhalations are not carried out at high body temperatures. The maximum duration of inhalation is ten minutes. After the procedure, you should not go outside, talk, or consume cool food or liquids for half an hour. The optimal number of inhalations per day is five times.

You can prepare a solution for inhalation from some medicinal herbs that can have an extremely beneficial effect on the body affected by the virus. If you have a dry cough, the following herbs are suitable:

  • plantain;
  • St. John's wort;
  • sage;
  • chamomile.

For wet coughs, the following are more suitable:

  • coltsfoot;
  • yarrow;
  • cowberry;
  • wild rosemary

If you don’t have any herbs on hand, take homemade products and boil them. Onions, potatoes and garlic - great products for inhalation. They can be used separately and combined.

Very useful and quite pleasant inhalations are inhalations with aromatic oils. For this procedure you will need a pan of hot water and an essential oil you like. Orange, mint, fir, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon and rosemary oils, as well as those you like, will do.

Essential oils can be combined in different ways to make the inhalation procedure pleasant and effective. A successful combination is a combination of mint and pine oils with floral and sweet ones. For example, you can mix orange oil with eucalyptus oil, and lavender oil with mint oil.

Rinse

To relieve an obsessive sore throat, you can gargle it. This should be done about seven times a day and only after meals. There are several recipes for effective rinses.

Take a tablespoon of dry sage and brew it in a glass for several minutes. After the broth has cooled slightly, dilute it with a tablespoon of soda.

Brew a teaspoon of dry coltsfoot in a glass of hot water. Add salt and wait for the broth to cool.

Brew two teaspoons of calendula in a small glass. Add a couple of drops of apple cider vinegar.

Rinse solutions made from chamomile and plantain will be no less effective. They can also be combined with baking soda, salt and apple cider vinegar.

Other cough medications

There are many folk remedies that relieve cough. Not all of them taste good, but they are effective.

Simple and available remedy– natural warm drinks in large quantities. Fruit drinks, teas and milk are suitable. When you cough, you should try to drink about two liters of warm and healthy liquid per day.

Radish juice and honey are an intensely warming agent that can eliminate severe coughing attacks. The recipe is simple - mix radish juice and honey in equal proportions and use a tablespoon of this healing potion during coughing attacks. If you don’t have a device at home that helps you squeeze out juice, you can grate the radish on a very fine grater and squeeze the juice out of the pulp through cheesecloth.

A tasty product that replaces sweets with not too much useful supplements– honey with hazelnuts. Mix honey and hazelnuts in approximately equal proportions. You can enjoy this sweetness whenever you want.

Perhaps the combination of onion and honey is not so pleasant, but it is very effective for any cough. Grind a couple of medium onions on the finest grater and add a couple of large spoons of any honey. We use the mixture three to four times a day. Preferably in between meals.

Horseradish with honey can also help with coughs. We extract a couple of tablespoons of horseradish juice and mix them with three large spoons of honey. We use it at any time, twice a day.
