Give puzzles a second wind! How to glue puzzles: different ways What can be done from old puzzles

Cytomegalovirus

Both adults and children love to collect puzzles. But over time, collecting the same picture gets boring, and individual fragments, despite all your efforts, may be lost. But don't rush to get rid of old kits - you can make a lot of interesting things out of them! Especially when it comes to BG puzzles - they are made from durable and solid cardboard, which allows you to make a lot of interesting things out of them.

For example, from the assembled puzzle you can make cover for children notebook - you just need to fit it to the size of a notebook or notepad. If you use only a fragment of the picture, then you need to make a frame or background. To do this, you can take colored cardboard "BG" (not only smooth, but also corrugated sheets are suitable - they will look especially impressive). So, for work you will need a notebook or notebook, a puzzle, double-sided tape, scissors, a knife or a cutter for thick cardboard. The assembled puzzle is glued to the cover or a sheet of cardboard with the help of double-sided tape to arrange the binding. If necessary, the size of the puzzle is slightly adjusted or the corners are rounded.

From similar materials can be made bonfires - small coasters for cups . They also need a cardboard base. It is only better to use not double-sided tape for gluing, but BG glue, so that it holds better even under the influence of heat and steam from a hot cup.

From the collected puzzles of the same size, you can make a square box for yarn and thread . In this case, a cardboard base is also taken. In order for the box to hold better, it is recommended to make thick cardboard corners and an additional bottom.

You can make from puzzles Greeting Cards – especially since you will find a wide selection of themes and images in the assortment of BG puzzles.

If you have lost puzzle pieces, you can make a lot of decorative items from disparate elements. For example, they can decorate the frame for photos by gluing the puzzles with universal glue in any order you think up.

From individual fragments, you can make Christmas decorations . For example, cutting out a base frame in the shape of a heart, a ball or a Christmas tree from BG colored cardboard and sticking puzzles on top with glue or double-sided tape.

Of course, the use of puzzles is not limited to the listed methods, and every lover of such puzzles will surely have their own ideas for creativity.

Today handmade and creativity is back in fashion. Both children and adults draw with enthusiasm, create collages and postcards, collect puzzles and even invent new types of art. And, therefore, the demand for any materials for artistic creativity. Offer your customers the best

Everything New Year's master classes our new year's competition You will find

Assiduous and calm people often spend their leisure time collecting large and complex puzzles. As well as children who develop fine motor skills and logic. And now, when all the details are in place, the logical question arises of what to do with the assembled picture. Take it apart and put it back in the box? Or leave as a picture? And then how to glue the puzzles so that they do not fall apart? There are several ways to make your dream come true.

How to glue puzzles with glue?

Now in art stores you can find such a tool as an adhesive base for mosaics, and puzzles too. It can be either PVA glue or a transparent adhesive film. It is advisable to use the latter only for pictures not big size as there is a risk that they will come out with air bubbles or wrinkle. It is very difficult to apply the film over a large area. In total, there are two main ways to glue puzzles together.

Option number 1: picture flip

It is very important what the cardboard mosaic was originally assembled on. If it is, for example, a sheet of fiberboard or chipboard, a puzzle mat or cardboard, then it will not be difficult to turn the finished picture over. To do this, you just need to put another similar sheet on top of the mosaic, press it firmly, and then turn it over. If the picture is very large, then you can additionally fasten the substrates with paper clips or tape. After that, you need to apply glue on the wrong side of the puzzle and let it dry completely, as indicated in the instructions. For those who have not purchased an adhesive, the same adhesive tape may come in handy. The strips are laid across the width (it will be denser), and overlapped. So the picture will last longer. It doesn't matter at all whether you get air bubbles under the tape or not. From the inside, this is still not visible, but you should not neglect accuracy.

Option number 2: without a coup

If the puzzles were assembled on the floor, and the size simply does not allow you to quickly turn the finished picture, then you can fasten everything without any coups. To do this, first of all, you need to slip polyethylene under the future picture. For example, it could be ripped rubbish bag. What is it for? In order not to spoil the floor covering with glue. Even the largest picture is not so difficult to drag slowly onto the polyethylene, carefully, centimeter by centimeter. After that, you can use various means to fasten the puzzle. For example, liquid diluted PVA glue. Or all the same transparent tape. For application, it is better to use a wide and flat brush. If you stick transparent tape, then you need to do it very carefully so that there are no air bubbles, no hitches, no wrinkles. It will not be superfluous to apply a layer of varnish without color on top of the glue. This will add gloss to the picture and connect the elements even more tightly.

Mixed version, universal way

Often used and universal gluing. Several technologies are used here at once. For example, before gluing puzzles with adhesive tape on the front side, a fabric cloth is glued to the wrong side. Due to him, the picture is more confident. But this method requires a double flip of the finished mosaic. The fabric can be made from any material: cotton, linen, cotton blend. It is advisable to give preference to natural fabrics, since they are the easiest to glue.

Another versatile option is a mix of glue and tape, which are attached to one side. For example, the front. Before gluing the assembled puzzles, you need to remove all debris, dust and dirt. To do this, you need a fan brush or a simple thick brush. Apply diluted liquid PVA glue, let it dry for 2 hours, then stick strips of transparent tape. You can not apply varnish on top. The picture will be glossy.

Each of the adhesive materials has its own characteristics in operation. So, for example, it is recommended to apply adhesive tape not only along the width of the picture, but also with an allowance. Why? This will provide greater structural strength. The excess can then be carefully cut off with a blade or only sharpened.

Before gluing a picture from puzzles, pay special attention to where it is located. If it is not too difficult to move the composition onto the fiberboard sheets from the table, then it is more problematic to do it from the floor. It is advisable to immediately start assembling puzzles with the expectation of further gluing on a special mat or on a sheet of plywood. In the future, the picture can be framed and hung on the wall as a decorative element.

How to glue puzzles of any size correctly? After cleaning the picture of excess debris, crumbs, apply adhesive and insert into the frame. Often such mosaics decorate children's rooms. And, of course, it is worth choosing puzzles in accordance with age and development, so that the picture will be assembled sooner or later, and not lie in a box.

Many children and adults love to collect puzzles. This activity develops children's imagination, outlook, logic and fine motor skills of hands. It is not surprising that the popularity of such entertainment is growing every day. A puzzle is an intrigue, a mystery that you want to solve, so many adults are happy to purchase puzzles and put them together with their children. But after assembling the puzzle, the question arises: what to do with it next? It can be taken apart or glued together and made into a real picture. For example, if they depict paintings, then do-it-yourself puzzle paintings can decorate any modern interior. Children love to collect pictures with their favorite cartoon characters, so making it into a picture is very interesting. But how to fix the puzzles in the picture? In order for the gluing of the puzzles to be successful and not to have to be thrown out with great difficulty, the assembled picture in the trash, you need to know some of the nuances. So, how to make a picture from puzzles in a frame?

Puzzle gluing methods

First of all, it is necessary to solve the question of how to fix the puzzles in the picture so that they do not fall apart, how to save the craft? The easiest option is to glue them. How to glue puzzles into a picture with glue at home?

Gluing the puzzle on the front side

You can glue the puzzles on the front side with glue or tape. Before starting the gluing process, it is necessary to clean the picture of dust, hair and other contaminants.

Important! In order not to stain the table with glue, place tracing paper or baking paper under the bottom.

Gluing the puzzle from the wrong side

If you do not want to apply glue to the front side, then you can glue it from the inside. But here the question arises, how to turn the puzzle face down. For this:

  • If you plan to glue the puzzle in this way, then you initially need to assemble it on an easily moved surface. It can be a fiberboard sheet, plexiglass or a special puzzle mat. In this case you will have less problems with puzzle flipping - just cover the top of the assembled mosaic with a durable material, for example, another sheet of fiberboard and quickly turn the entire structure over to the other side.

Important! If your picture is very large, then you can additionally fix the design with tape or clerical clips.

  • You can use cling film. In this case, you need to assemble the mosaic on a substrate, which should be slightly larger in size than the puzzle itself in the assembled state. When the puzzle is completed, wrap the entire picture together with the substrate with cling film. To be sure, you can make several layers of cling film. Then the entire structure must be carefully turned over, put face down, along the substrate, cut through the cling film. We turn the edges of the film to the side and carefully remove the substrate. Now you can glue puzzles, and cling film will protect the table from glue.
  • If the mosaic was assembled on a table or on the floor, you need to carefully move the finished pattern onto a dense surface.
  • The most optimal way, especially for large paintings, is to glue first from the front, and then from the wrong side. First coat the front side with glue, wait for it to dry completely. Now it will not be difficult to turn the mosaic over. Turn over carefully and coat the wrong side with glue.

The basis for gluing the puzzle

What to glue puzzles on to make a picture? The following materials can be used as a basis.

Fiberboard sheet

It must be cut exactly to the size of the picture. Trimming the edges after the puzzle is glued on may damage the puzzle.

  1. Apply PVA glue in a thin layer so that there are no dry spots left.
  2. Excess glue must be removed immediately so that it does not leak onto the front side.
  3. Lay the glued sheet on the inside surface of the assembled puzzle, press down and immediately turn it right side up.
  4. Adhesive that has come through after pressing must be removed with a clean cloth.
  5. Leave until completely dry.

Important! Such sheets are optimal for creating large paintings, their surface is even, the puzzle is easy to glue, does not lose its appearance and does not deteriorate over time. But along with the pluses, there are also minuses: these sheets need to be cut with special tools, besides, the picture turns out to be quite heavy and requires special fasteners.

Styrofoam

A good alternative to fiberboard can be thin foam, which can be bought at hardware stores. This - lightweight material, which, moreover, is easy to cut, it is convenient to use. It does not deform from the glue and does not distort after it dries, as it has a thickness of about 15 mm. But such a thickness is rather a minus, since in order to decorate a picture with a frame, you will have to look for a fairly massive structure that will hide such a thickness.

Ceiling tiles

These tiles come in different thicknesses and sizes. They are easy to cut, fit in standard frames in thickness and are quite affordable:

  • For the base, you need to choose a tile without a relief pattern, about 4 mm thick.
  • A puzzle consisting of 500 pieces is placed on one tile.
  • If you have a large drawing, then you can glue several tiles together with PVA glue.
  • Joints between tiles are best done with serrations.
  • The puzzle is pasted on reverse side tiles.
  • After gluing, you need to remove excess glue and put the picture under oppression. You can just put a board on top. If this is not done, then in the process of drying the glue, the structure may be deformed.

Gauze, tulle

It can be done very simply:

  1. Glue a regular piece of gauze or tulle of a suitable size with glue and attach to the mosaic.
  2. Excess glue must be removed immediately with a cloth or napkin.
  3. After the glue dries, you can apply another layer on top to fix the result.
  4. The remaining edges of the gauze can be trimmed or used to stretch on a frame or other surface.

Adhesive or self-adhesive film

It is sold in rolls of various widths. The surface must be dry and clean without dust. The size of the film should be a couple of millimeters smaller than the size of the mosaic.

  1. Cut off the desired piece of film.
  2. Separate the paper from the film by about 5 cm.
  3. Apply the self-adhesive film to the surface and stick the separated edge.
  4. Then slowly and gently pull the paper away from the rest.
  5. With the other hand you need to smooth the film. You can use a towel, you can do it with your hands - as you like.

Important! To avoid bubbles, you need to iron from the center to the edges. If bubbles still appear, poke them with a needle.

How can you glue puzzles?

Now you need to figure out what to glue the puzzles on to make a picture.

PVA

PVA glue is used for gluing products made of wood, paper, cardboard, glass, leather, fabrics, etc. It is also perfect for gluing puzzles. It dries quickly and becomes transparent after drying, so don't be put off by the white spots from the glue - they will soon disappear.

Important! Suitable for both the wrong side and the front side.

Step Puzzle

This is a special glue for gluing puzzles. It is often included in a set. It is distributed over the entire surface with a piece of foam rubber or a brush.

Powder glue from Clementini

This is the glue from the Italian puzzle manufacturers, which usually comes with the puzzles themselves. It must be diluted in water in a ratio of 1 to 3. The glue is quickly absorbed, and when properly diluted, leaves no residue.

silicate office glue

Although not intended for such purposes, it does a great job and gives the picture a glossy sheen.

Scotch

Plain adhesive tape has become widespread among puzzle lovers. They can easily glue the wrong side. First glue your picture vertically, then horizontally.

What can frames be made from?

There are many ways to make a picture frame from puzzles:

  • The easiest way is to buy a ready-made frame of the right size.
  • A simple but very pretty frame will come from unsharpened colored pencils. In this case, the basis for the picture should be larger than the drawing itself. Colored pencils are glued along the edges right size. They can be glued to Moment glue.
  • A beautiful frame will turn out from a ceiling plinth. Gotta cut it stationery knife and glue to the base along the perimeter of the picture with the help of “Moment” or “Liquid Nails” glue. Then you can paint your frame with acrylic paints.
  • It is possible to make a frame out of a shoe box, but such a frame is limited by the size of the box. Cut a hole in the bottom of the box to match the size of the puzzle. The mosaic itself needs to be glued onto the lid of the box, put the lid into the box, and the frame is ready. You can decorate it as you wish or just paint it with paints.

I hope two big puzzles will come together soon, and in this regard, you have to think about what to do with them next.

"You can start collecting puzzles (or continue if you already have one). original decoration rooms can serve as paintings from puzzles glued together with adhesive tape or pressed against glass (for solidity, you can add a beautiful frame). You can also use the assembled puzzle as a table decoration, for example. It is enough just to cover it with glass of a suitable size. For a dining table, some fruit still life is suitable ... For a worker, perhaps, you should choose according to your taste. Some kind of warm sea view is very inspiring to work (especially in cold winter evenings)... or a landmark;) In addition, there is always an option - to disassemble and put it back into the box.

Advice. If you decide to glue the puzzle with tape ( a budget option): 1) There is also a transparent adhesive film. Sold in rolls, about 30-40 centimeters wide. To stick - should be applied to the surface, covered with a cloth and ironed. If you decide to stick the puzzle on the oilcloth:

If you decide to make a wall picture: You need a piece of cardboard of the appropriate size and a frame. Carefully transfer the puzzle to the cardboard (If the puzzle was assembled on the table, you can usually gently slide it onto the leaning cardboard. If it doesn’t work, you can transfer it piece by piece with a flat scoop, spatula .. Whatever is at hand. But it is best to use adhesive tape to windows (something like paper tape) - it does not leave marks when peeled off. Glue the puzzle on the front side. When the glue seizes, carefully remove). Cardboard must first be impregnated with glue. When the glue sets, insert it into the frame and ... hang it on the wall! If you have the opportunity and desire, you can also stock up on glass of the same size. Then gluing is not necessary - you can simply press the puzzle with glass on one side, cardboard on the other. And fix it all with a frame. Looks beautiful!"

"1. Dear people!
To make the puzzle look beautiful, you need to: buy suitable plywood, you can buy special glue (ask at the store for the puzzle, if the card is large, buy several jars at once.), you can also use double-sided tape, and of course a frame.
Signature: PROF 12.;-)

2. I just assemble a puzzle on one cardboard box, cover the other one on top, turn it over, then spread it with glue (any) and glue it to the cardboard. I level the edges with a blade and that's it, the picture is ready!

And a complicated way, with photos, about making your own frame can be found on the forum http://forum.puzzler.su/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=238

There is another option to order a frame, but, in my opinion, it will be three times more expensive than the puzzle itself. I also remembered the huge cardboard from the refrigerator and the not very large cardboard from the mirror and bathroom cabinet.
