Check out our detailed master class on sewing Tilda dachshunds with patterns and quickly get to work!

Tilda dachshund master class

We will sew a Tilda Dachshund with a body length of 45 cm. This size can be changed by scaling the pattern.

Pattern

For work, we need a Tilda Dachshund pattern. It needs to be printed and cut.

If you decide to significantly increase the size of the pattern, then after printing you need to glue parts of the parts. All required parts must have patterns in full size.

Usually Tilda toys are made from bodily or beige colors. If you use original fabrics in your work, then the process is simplified. But sometimes you need to tint the fabric. This can be done with various aniline dyes, even with iodine.

Especially popular is natural coloring. The desired shades are given using decoctions and tinctures of tea, coffee, onion peel, various fruits.

Natural fabric dyeing for Tilda with tea

For sewing, Tilda uses natural fabrics such as linen, cotton, calico, satin. Of these, coarse calico or satin are best suited. Linen and poplin are too stiff, while chintz, on the contrary, are too thin. In addition, the natural dyeing of flax is uneven.

Coarse calico must be washed before painting to remove the factory impregnation. We will sew a dog dachshund from satin fabric white color. You can slightly tone the material if you wish.

For the painting process you need:

  • natural fabric - linen, cotton, coarse calico, chintz;
  • tea - leaf or in bags;
  • water;
  • laundry soap;
  • salt;
  • table vinegar;
  • strainer;
  • saucepan or bowl enamelled.

Description

You need to make stronger tea. Moreover, the main criterion in our case will not be the taste, but the color of the tea leaves. The most saturated color is obtained from single bags, because they contain very small particles, almost tea dust. The dye pigment is best extracted from it.

The infused tea must be filtered through a strainer or several layers of gauze. Next, dissolve in the infusion 1 tsp. salt. This is done to make the color more durable.

We dip the fabric into the infusion. She must be washed (make it better than usual laundry soap without any additives), rinsed and only slightly dried. Wet fabric stains more evenly.

The container in which the dyeing takes place must be large enough so that the fabric lies freely, without multilayer folds. This precaution is again aimed at achieving a uniform color over the entire surface.

Keep the material in the infusion for at least 15 minutes. The maximum coloring time is 1 hour.

The intensity of the color is directly proportional to the concentration of the tea infusion, its temperature, and the exposure time of the tissue. It will be very useful to periodically mix the dyed fabric to obtain a uniform color.

Assessing the degree of color, keep in mind that after drying, the fabric will become lighter.

Having endured the right time, we take out the fabric and, without wringing it out, dip it into a pre-prepared solution of vinegar (1 liter of cold water + 2 tablespoons of vinegar). This is also done to fix the color.

We take the fabric out of the solution, shake it off (without wringing it out!) And straighten it as much as possible, dry it.

Finally, iron the material without steaming. The wrong side is ironed first, then the front side.

Coffee composition. Recipe and use: MK video

Open the torso

We fold the white satin in half and mark the contour of the body according to the pattern. For marking, you can use a special marker for textiles. Its peculiarity is that the drawn lines will discolor over time. Please note that there is a dotted area on the pattern - this place is left without spending. Stuffing the doll will be done through it.

open the tails

For sewing blankets for Tilda Dachshund we will use checkered flannel. Fold it in half. The pattern is made on 1⁄2 of the part, so we combine the center line of the back of the cape with the fold line of the fabric. We draw a contour.

We cut out a blanket with allowances of 1 cm around the entire perimeter.

We smooth the allowance on the wrong side and sew.

Ears

Cut out two ears. Asterisks on the patterns indicate the top of the elements. The dotted line shows the place for stuffing.

We fix the layers of material with sewing pins so that the fabric does not move when sewing.

Preparing the doll for assembly

Before assembly, we must sew the parts of the dachshund. We pass the line along all the contours of the parts, leaving gaps for stuffing. This must be done on the marked canvas before cutting out the elements.

The beginning and end of each seam must be fixed so that it does not unravel during further work with the part.

We cut out all the details with an allowance of 5 mm. At the corners, we make notches on the allowance with sharp scissors so that after turning the fabric does not shrink.

We turn out all the details, iron if necessary.

Dachshund stuffing

We have to prepare stuffing material. It is very convenient to use a synthetic winterizer for this. We cut pieces of suitable size from the rolled cloth. Fill in the ears and body of the toy. We do this as tightly as possible, without gaps, folds and wrinkles. You can use sushi sticks or a pencil as a pusher tool.

Having finished stuffing the body and ears, we sew up the remaining hole with blind stitches.

Addition of details

Cap and ears

To secure the ears, you will need a very long needle and two buttons. We fix the thread on one button, pierce the ear, head, second ear and the second button. We unfold the needle and sew the “button - ear - head - ear - button” set in the other direction. We make 2-3 stitches. For convenience, you can slightly squeeze the ears and head. Just do not overdo it, otherwise the dog will turn out with a too narrow head.

We grind manually the straps of blankets on the breast.

Dress up our beauty. You can decorate the outfit with a bow or a flower.

On the tummy, the outfit looks like this - see photo.

muzzle

Paint the nose with acrylic paint.

We draw eyes, a speck on the forehead. It can be shaped like an asterisk or a heart.

We paint over the cheeks with dry blush.

Medallion

For decoration, you can make a cute medallion around the dog's neck. We need a plastic ring of suitable diameter. We tie it with two rows of RLS. From a thin wire we make a loop, which we fix when tying the ring. We pass a thin lace or braid.

We put decoration on the neck of Tilda Dachshund.

It turned out to be a very beautiful interior toy.

Using this pattern, but slightly changing the outfit and decorations, you can make a family pair of dachshunds.

Selection of patterns

Popular quote - "A dog is a man's best friend!" - relevant today more than ever. More and more often, surprising passers-by with their bright outfits, fashionistas and fashionistas roam the streets. True connoisseurs of dog friendship and devotion are ready to give their pet all the best.

Velvet, drape, silk, chiffon - from which they just do not come up with outfits for dogs. The cost of such pleasure does not always allow the average consumer to pamper himself and his pet. Our article will tell you how to independently and without much difficulty sew practical, comfortable and beautiful clothes for your pet - a small and agile dachshund.

A small, agile body with a smooth coat is at risk of hypothermia in autumn and winter periods, that's why clothing for this breed is not only an ornament, but also a real necessity. Moreover, for any dog it does not matter whether it is snowing or raining, she wants to walk outside in any weather.

Given that a dog of this breed has very sensitive vertebrae, practical clothing that will not hamper the movements of the animal and will become its favorite accessory will help protect against problems of freezing and getting wet in the rain.

Sewing and finishing will help to sew:

  • trousers;
  • shirts;
  • dresses;
  • hats;
  • collars;
  • t-shirts;
  • caps;
  • overalls for cold weather.

How to take your dog's measurements

Any clothing should be practical and comfortable to wear. It not only complements the image, but also protects from adverse environmental conditions. But in order for the clothes to be comfortable and fit the size of the dachshund, you should take the appropriate measurements of your pet:

  • the length of the back from the collar to the beginning of the tail of the dachshund (DS);
  • neck circumference (OSh);
  • girth of the chest behind the front paws (OG);
  • dachshund belly circumference (OJ);
  • girth of the legs at the widest point (OPL), (OZL);
  • length from neck to front paws (DOL);
  • the distance between the front legs of the dachshund (DPL).

Making clothes for your pet is not an easy process. But the result is simply amazing. Having your own wardrobe, your dachshund will be different from other dogs, and the boundaries of these differences will only be a matter of your imagination.

Modeling and circuit design

So, you set out to sew a practical little thing for your beloved. You have an amazing idea necessary material and measurements, but that’s bad luck - you didn’t go to cutting and sewing lessons, you don’t know how to transform three-dimensional forms in a plane and you have absolutely no idea how to build a pattern for making clothes.

For future masterpieces of thread and fabric, a universal pattern for a paper dachshund is suitable:

  1. Prepare soft paper which is equal to the measurements of the length of the back from the collar to the beginning of the tail (DS). Add 10 centimeters to these measurements. The width of this sheet of paper should be the girth of the length behind the front legs of your dachshund (OG). Add 10 centimeters to these measurements.
  2. Fold the sheet in half. You will get a narrow rectangle with sides (DS + 10) and (OG + 10)/2.
  3. On the prepared sheet, mark the line of the front paws. To do this, add 5 centimeters to the length of the measurements from the neck to the front paws (DOL). Step back from the fold line of the sheet (DOL + 5), divided by 2, and cut out holes for the legs.
  4. Try on a paper pattern for your dachshund. In places where measurements were made, pin the pattern with pins.
  5. Thus, you should get 4 tucks: two on the chest, two on the back. You need to make these tucks on the belly of the dachshund.
  6. Now you should adjust the length of the future product. Please note that the sewn clothes on the stomach should be shorter than on the back.
  7. Remove the fasteners and free the dachshund from the pattern.

According to the layout of this pattern, you can sew a blanket, jumpsuit, dress or suit for your dachshund. For tailoring products with sleeves, it will be necessary to take additional measurements - the length of the legs (DL).

ATTENTION! Please note that the pattern will sit much tighter on the chest, and it should be loose on the neck and stomach.

Mark where you will make the grooves in the future. This will help ensure that the clothing fits the animal as comfortably as possible.

  • on the back of the blanket, make tucks and turn around the product along the edge;
  • sew Velcro or other fasteners on the chest of the dog.

If you planned to sew a warm blanket, you will need a synthetic winterizer or fleece lining.

Jumpsuit for all occasions

So, we sew a jumpsuit for our pet:

As a basis, take the distance from the neck to the tail (A - tail, B - neck).

We measure this distance and divide by 8 to find the length of the side of the pattern square. Now let's draw a grid on a piece of paper. Side grids of 1/8 AB square.

Let's start connecting the parts:

  • We sew parts from the main fabric and synthetic winterizer.
  • Sew between the side parts of the main fabric along the chest line lower part covering the chest and abdomen.
  • The same operation is performed with the fabric lining.
  • Then we sew the product with the lining, leaving the armholes and the back line.
  • The details of the sleeves and trousers are sewn along the long section.
  • We sew the sleeves into the armholes in the armpit. Sew on a button and a loop of elastic.
  • We make a hood. It should be comfortable for the dog, for this it is better to leave an allowance for free fitting and inserting an elastic band.
  • We sew the details of the hood from the main and lining fabric, leaving a cutout. We make cuts to the seam.
  • On the open section of the visor we hide the allowances for the seams inside, we take the visor to the frontal part of the hood.
  • Slightly bending the upper cut of the overalls, we sew several segments. Velcro fasteners should match on the neck and hood.
  • Sew a zipper on the back of the jumpsuit.

Raincoat for a dachshund in bad weather

A raincoat for a dachshund is a waterproof jacket or raincoat that will save your pet in non-flying weather.

On any rainy day, it will help you enjoy the weather and take longer walks with your miniature dachshund.

It is also desirable that the outer fabric for the raincoat be made from a highly waterproof and breathable fabric, and the inside was lined with thin, fleecy nylon to add some warmth. It makes a nice warm cocoon around the body without hindering movement at all.

Knitted clothes for a dachshund

To knit a sweater for a dog with your own hands, you need:

  • take measurements;
  • prepare materials: yarn, zipper, knitting needles, lining.

Sweater knitting technique:

  1. We start with the neck. We knit it with an elastic band or with a lapel.
  2. The number of loops must be increased each time so that the product wraps around the chest of the dachshund. We continue knitting to the front paws of our pet.
  3. We knit the back with an elastic band.
  4. As we approach the tail of the dog, we reduce the loops.

You can also knit rectangles and sew a few pieces together, this is perfect for beginners:

  • measure your dog from the beginning of the underbelly on one side, behind the back to the beginning of the underbelly on the other side;

In order to protect their pet from the cold, dog owners, including dachshunds, came up with dog fashion.

  • a blanket that will protect from frost and wind;
  • boots needed during walks in severe frost;
  • overalls that save from rain and wind;
  • for autumn or spring.

Clothes for dachshunds

Today, buying things for dachshunds is not a problem. In stores you can find everything from a simple jumpsuit to an evening tailcoat. Often they look like costumes of movie characters. For the price, such clothes are also produced differently: from simple horse buttons to shirts and precious stones. But most dog owners prefer to sew outfits for their four-legged friend on their own.

Do-it-yourself clothes for a dachshund, the patterns, the knitting of which is presented in our article, will be made specifically for your beloved dog, taking into account the characteristics of his body. Such things will help to emphasize the beauty and grace of the pet and, at the same time, protect from the troubles of bad weather.

Do-it-yourself patterns of clothes for dachshunds can be used when designing products for different seasons. For example, on the basis of a jumpsuit with the size of a pet, you can sew an autumn and winter outfit.

Clothing selection

Each dog breed has its own body structure. In addition, there are short-haired and long-haired dogs. All this must be taken into account when tailoring outfits for a pet.

Due to the length of the body, do-it-yourself clothes for dachshunds also have their own characteristics: patterns, photos demonstrate these features very clearly. Everything that is sewn for a dachshund has a long back, and this must be taken into account when cutting.

In addition, the dachshund has very short legs, so spring-autumn outfits should be made of waterproof fabric.

The creation of any thing begins with the construction of a pattern. Therefore, when starting to create outfits, you must first take measurements from your pet.

To build a pattern, you need to measure the length of the back, the length below from the front to the hind paw, chest girth, chest width, pet height at the withers and neck girth. Having done all the measurements correctly, you can sew any clothes.

Knitted patterns

The creation of such things is suitable for knitting lovers. The principles here are the same, the main thing is to take measurements correctly.

Hats, coats - all these are do-it-yourself clothes for a dachshund. Patterns and knitting individual details on them will greatly facilitate the work, allow you to create a thing that will sit well on your pet and protect it from wind and cold.

As well as sewn, require carefully measurements taken from a four-legged friend.

Here is a simple dachshund sweater. This is only knitting technology, the number of loops is calculated based on the measurements of the dog.

Knitting begins from the neck (measuring the girth of the neck). Then, using the raglan method, we divide the loops into the back, chest and sleeves. The chest must first be expanded (measuring the width of the chest), then narrowed, and it must be longer than the back so that the sweater fits well. When we connect the back and breast, holes for the sleeves are formed. We knit them separately. We knit the torso to the desired length (measuring the length of the back), decreasing the loops on the tummy so that the knitting fits snugly to the body. You can put on a hood. In such a sweater, the pet can walk in dry weather. If you use cotton threads, you get a summer outfit.

Outfits for a dachshund boy

Warm things for a dog - protection from the weather, the pet should be comfortable in it, nothing should interfere with movement. And since the pattern of clothes for a dachshund boy is made by hand according to individual sizes, it will meet all these requirements.

Same-sex dogs can start fights, so dog owners have learned to show the gender of the dog in outfits. Things for a dachshund boy will differ in color: they are darker (blue, gray, black). And of course, there are differences in the cutting of the material, taking into account the anatomical features of boys, who relieve themselves differently than girls.

Do-it-yourself patterns of clothes for dachshunds, according to which things for boys will be sewn, will turn out larger, since males are larger than females. Yes, and clothing decorations in the form of rhinestones, bows and ruffles are more suitable for girlish clothes, and not for boys.

There are also differences in style. For a boy, you can sew a tuxedo, a shirt with a tie, put on a stylish cap.

Do-it-yourself patterns of clothes for dachshunds will help make your pet stylish and beautiful. This is the owner's concern for his pet, which manifests itself in caring for him and creating for him good conditions life.

Here are some facts about dog clothes:

  1. The Eskimos and Samoyeds were the first to dress their dogs. Their dogs flaunted in leather boots with deer hair inside, so that the pads of the fingers do not crack from the cold.
  2. In the Renaissance, the heads of dogs were decorated with colored scarves.
  3. In the eighteenth century, the court lapdogs of Madame Pampadour were dressed in dresses made of velvet and silk.
  4. In the twentieth century, in the Alps (Switzerland), special vests and overalls were developed for rescue dogs.
  5. Then there was a tradition to dress up dogs for exhibitions.
  6. IN Lately dog fashion has firmly entered our lives.

Do not be afraid to experiment, and your pet will not only be protected from the weather, but will also receive unique outfits that no one else will have.

Even in summer, a dachshund may need a raincoat suit for going outside in the rain. After walking in light clothes, there will be no need to bathe or dry your pet, it will be enough to wash his paws.
The lower the temperature drops, the more important warm clothes become. In dry windy weather, the dog will be comfortable in a knitted jumpsuit, cape or sweater. For a very harsh winter, you can sew a warm set of cashmere or fleece.
Rain, snow and cold require a combination of protection from cold and moisture, so you should prepare a jumpsuit made of waterproof fabric with an insulated lining.
In very severe frosts, a dachshund can be taken out for a walk in a fur coat.

On this list of necessary things could be completed, but let's not forget about stylish clothes for the mood. We boldly include fashionable collars, bows, hats, dresses and suits in this list. Lovely excesses will become an indispensable attribute for participation in thematic exhibitions, holidays and parades.

And now let's move from words to deeds and make sure that doing all this on your own is not such a difficult task!

Instant warming

This outfit took about 10 minutes before the first use, and it took about an hour to turn it into a "decent reusable" suit 🙂

If in the morning, looking out the window, you find that the weather has deteriorated sharply, and a devoted friend insistently asks for a walk, you can whip up a weekend suit.

Our choice is a sleeve from an old sweater (ideally - male). Feel free to cut it off. We measure the distance from the collar to the front paws. We add 5-7 cm to the measure, and at this distance we cut holes for the paws. We try on a "sweater" for a dachshund, you may have to clarify its length, and for sure, shorten it on the tummy.
The whole process will take no more than 15 minutes. Style and accuracy will suffer today, but the speed of "tailoring" will make up for some of the flaws in the model.
Later, the sweater can be finished by edging the bottom edge with an inlay and knitting the sleeves for the front legs.

How to take measurements correctly

The success of creating stylish and warm clothes for a dachshund is determined by the accuracy of measurements.

The most important dimensions:

  • length of the back from the collar to the base of the tail, ( DC);
  • neck girth, OSH);
  • girth of the chest behind the front paws, ( OG);
  • girth of the abdomen in front of the hind legs, ( coolant);
  • girth of the front paw at the widest point, ( OPL);
  • girth of the hind leg at its widest point, ( OZL);
  • distance from collar to front paws ( DOL);
  • distance between front paws ( DPL).

By these standards, you can build a pattern of any model.

Universal paper pattern for dachshund. Based on it, you can actually limit yourself to nothing 🙂 (photo enlarges by clicking)

We need a sheet of soft paper DC+10 cm and wide OG+10 cm. Fold it in half, we get a long narrow rectangle with sides DC+10 and ( OG+10)/2. On distance DOL+5 from the narrow edge we mark the line of the front paws. Stepping back from the fold line half the distance between the front paws, cut out holes for them.
We put the sheet on the dachshund and carefully pin the edges of the paper cylinder with pins along the back. In wide places (on the chest), the paper construction will sit tightly, and on the tummy and neck - loosely. In order for the future clothes to fit, tucks are made in these places. We lay them on paper, so that later we can take them into account when cutting clothes.
In the neck area, you can get 3 or 4 tucks, two of which are on the chest, and the rest on the back. Darts in the hind legs are located on the stomach.
The final touch is to adjust the length of the product. The main thing to remember is that for convenience during walks, clothes on the tummy are made shorter than on the back.
We remove the pins and free the pet from finished pattern. According to this layout, you can quite accurately build any model of clothes for a dachshund: from blankets to overalls. The only refinement for the latter will be the construction of the sleeves and panties.

Let's start sewing

The first tests are best done on the simplest and most versatile model of clothing for a dachshund - a blanket. The result should look like in photo 3.
For work, a piece of fabric 70x70 cm, an oblique inlay about 3 m and Velcro tape about 30 cm will be enough.

  1. We impose a paper pattern (see the figure above) on the wrong side of the fabric, circle it with chalk.
  2. Cut out, making allowances of 1 cm around the perimeter of the pattern.
  3. We sew a rectangle 11x17 cm for the breast along the line AB.
  4. We grind tucks on the back of the blanket.
  5. We turn the blanket around the edge.
  6. Sew Velcro or buttons for fasteners on the side and on the chest.

If you plan to sew insulated blankets, then you should cut out an insulating lining from a synthetic winterizer and a fleece lining. All three parts are cut according to one drawing, tucks are grinded on each, a rectangle for the breast is sewn on. After three layers (top fabric, insulating pad and lining) are connected to each other along the edge. Then follow steps 5 and 6.

If you are familiar with machine sewing, then it will take you no more than two hours to make a blanket. If you didn't sit down sewing machine, do not worry - the product is easy to assemble by hand.

More complex models

Knitted sweater "loose cut", it reaches the tummy, the throat can be raised higher. The nuance of the model is in the exact fit of the elastic band at the end of the chest: on the one hand, it must sit tightly, on the other hand, it must not overtighten the body.

Hand knitters will love to dress in sweaters and overalls. To work, you will need knitting needles No. 3 or 4, preferably on a fishing line, in order to try on while knitting, and about 200 grams of thread of medium thickness. The most popular model is the raglan sweater. His knitting begins with the neck, having previously calculated the density of the fabric.
In order to prevent wrinkles from collecting on the neck, short rows are knitted from the back. The sleeves for the front paws are knitted in the same way as the fingers on the gloves. At the same time, for the front paws, the length of the sleeve will be less than for the hind legs. You can use patterns for other breeds, the main thing is not to forget about the proportions of the body and paws.
The work will take one evening, and there will be a lot of pleasure from the finished sweater.

It should be remembered that the dachshund should have several outfits for one season in the wardrobe, since clothes get dirty quickly and need to be washed often. All outfits should be practical and comfortable. If the clothes annoy the pet, they will soon be removed and will not bring any benefit to the animal.
