Our master class (mk), and there will be several of them, will teach you how to make petals of various shapes from satin fabrics and create a flower or kanzashi. A step-by-step instruction of work will help you not to go astray in the stages of work.

Before you go to a specialized store to purchase everything you need, you need and you can decide what exactly you really need. Here is a list of accessories that you need to make kanzashi for beginners:

The main forms of the petals

round kanzashi petals

Such a master class and lessons will teach you how to make a basic round petal, from which they create incredible grace, kanzashi flowers and not only them.

Such lessons and schemes of work almost always begin in the same way, with cutting satin patches, five cm wide. The wider it is, the larger the Kazan flower will come out. Take the material, five centimeters wide, and cut it into squares.

We fold each figure, five cm wide, diagonally, and make sure that all the corners match together.

Top corners, fold to the bottom corners, as shown in the photo.

We wrap the corners back and hold them with tweezers. You can do this with your fingers, that is, as you wish.

The excess edge is trimmed with scissors.

Then, hold the petal over the fire of a candle or lighter and singe the end. Hold the workpiece for a couple of seconds and press it well to glue it.

Kanzashi petal is rounded, fully made. Look at the photo so it should look like yours.

The tutorial and instructions for making it are simple, look at the back and front views of the petal.

There are lessons in creating a rounded petal, in a slightly different way. You can try to make this decor. Connect the piece of tape in the same way as the previous master class (mk) showed us, that is, diagonally. Delete lower part element and singe it with the fire of matches.

Then, we bend the side ends back, and we get a different shape of a round petal.

When making kanzashi a new product, you can turn the petal, both with the front side and with the wrong side too.

Sharp Petal Lessons

If you like our lessons and a master class (mk) on photos, and you learn how to repeat them, then you can make more complex compositions from a pointed petal, for example, Christmas balls from satin patches.

Cut squares from satin fabric cuts, 5-6 cm wide, and bend diagonally to form triangles.

Fold this element in half, making sure that the corners match, and then fold it again until you get an eight-layer element.

Cut the bottom of the petal and singe it with matches to prevent the threads from falling off.

If you do this along the entire length, we will get such a sharp kanzashi petal and the technique for its implementation.

There is another master class (mk) that will help you make a different kind of sharp element. We do the lessons on cutting the tape, which were described above in the text.

Fold the corners as shown in the photo.

Connect the corners and cut off the lower part, with its further soldering.

It turned out such a product.

This master class (mk) does not end, we will not show yet big way. Fold the tape diagonally, and connect the edges together, cutting and soldering, at the same time, the lower part. It turned out such a blank, pointed in shape, shown from the front and back sides.

Kanzashi flower master class

The kanzashi technique has become a very common needlework all over the world. With it, you can make decor and incredible things such as flowers of various shades and shapes.

This master class will not be too intricate, but elegant. It involves the purchase of some accessories:

  • satin ribbons, several ebbs at your discretion, 5 cm wide;
  • white ribbon, 4 cm wide;
  • glue;
  • matches or candles;
  • tweezers with scissors;
  • needle and thread;
  • decor for decoration;
  • pins.

Cut into squares of different colors, in quantity, seven pieces, 5 cm wide.

Take one element and fold it in half and diagonally, and then in half again.

What we got, pierce with a pin to secure.

Take a blank of a different color and bend it in the same way as the previous square. We put the resulting triangle on the red kanzashi petal and double it.

We remove the ends and the lower part and singe over the fire. Thus, we got a double pointed petal.

From the remaining material, you need to make six more blanks. After you have done everything, we string the petals on a thread and tighten everything in a circle. We have our first flower.

From a white ribbon, 4 cm wide, you need to make a flower, according to the same principle as described above in the text, only of a single shape.

Take an emerald ribbon, 5 cm wide and cut into squares. We make a sharp petal, but without cutting it, but singeing it over the fire, followed by fastening the ends.

What we have turned out to the other side. Our master class (MK) is almost finished. It remains only to connect everything together and make a decor, in the form of a bead or a button. On top of a large flower, we glue a small one, and on the sides, we attach green petals. The flower is ready!

Video: Making a flower from ribbons

The art of kanzashi, which allows you to create bright and original flowers from satin ribbons with your own hands, is based on the technique of folding pieces of fabric in the form of petals. On their basis, a flower is subsequently created, which can be used both for decorating clothes and for decorating a room. The technique, whose origins lie in Japan, is now popular all over the world, because on its basis you can create many bright accessories for every day.

kanzashi tradition

Decorations based on this technique can be in the form of simple flowers with five petals, or they can be complex flower arrangements consisting of tiers with a huge number of petals. The folding of these elements is carried out by the tsumami technique. A novice needlewoman needs to stock up on fabric to create petals, scissors to cut blanks, a lighter to process the edges of the product, needles with threads and glue - that's all that is required to master the art of kanzashi. Flowers made from fabric and satin ribbons are very beautiful, especially if you choose the right materials.

The very word kanzashi (or kanzashi) is Japanese for hand-made flowers to decorate hair or clothes. It is noteworthy, but these flowers are presented in the most different forms and decoration. But in Russia, the most popular are khan-kanzashi, when needlewomen sew flowers from pieces of fabric, creating original compositions. The basis of kanzashi from a satin ribbon is the petals that are collected on a thread, thereby creating a flower.

Types of kanzashi petals

Kansashi from satin fabric can be created on the basis of different type petals. Let's take a closer look at their features:

  • to get a sharp petal, we take a square of fabric and fold it in half diagonally, then in half again, and again, the resulting corners are carefully cut off, the place of their junction is sealed.
  • A sharp two-color petal is created from two pieces of fabric of different colors: they are folded in half diagonally separately, then connected so that one color is inside the other. Bend in half, trim the ends and melt.
  • the curved petal is sharp: we fold the square in half diagonally three times, cut off the tip, and process the edge. We cut along, process the cut again, turn the workpiece inside out.
  • round petal: repeat the bending procedure, then carefully bend the ends inward, and then in half lengthwise. The end is trimmed and trimmed.

Create a rose: an overview of the main methods

Creating flowers based on satin ribbons is a fairly simple process that requires only perseverance and a little imagination. We offer you several ways to make flowers from satin ribbons with your own hands. Let's start with the rose.

Method one

To make it, we need a meter of satin ribbon (red or pink), matching threads, a glue gun, a lighter. The process of creating a decorative element is simple:

  1. First, we process the edges with a lighter - this will prevent the material from shedding. We direct the fabric with the wrong side towards us, retreat 2 cm from the edge, bend the tape with the front side towards ourselves at an angle of 30 0. Along the bottom edge, we again bend the tape away from ourselves - again at a slight angle. We fix the workpiece with a pin.
  2. Now, with a seam forward, we sew the needle along the edges that we bent. Threads must be chosen to match the fabric so that they do not stand out on the canvas.
  3. We bend the tape - first down towards ourselves, then up, again we sew along the edge. You need as many folds as you want to add splendor to the flower. Ideally, they should be from 6 to 11.
  4. As soon as we reach the end of the tape, we burn its edge, pull the thread and collect it.
  5. We twist the end of the canvas - this is how we mark the middle of the rose, which should be of sufficient density. We carefully fix all the folds with glue.

like this in a simple way flowers are created from kanzashi ribbons.

Method two

To make a rose, we stock up on ribbon and thread. Most of the work - singing in particular, is the same in many master classes, so we will omit this process. As soon as the tape is ready and free from the fringe, we bend it towards us at a wider angle - up to 60 0, 5 cm must be retreated from the edge. We roll up the core of the rose.

Now we bend the long part of the canvas - it should go towards itself, and the edges should be strictly parallel to each other. It is better to fix all the kinks with a pin - so the workpiece will hold more securely. We fold the work at the junction of the edges of the tapes, sew them with a seam forward needle, as close to the edge as possible. With the help of thread we collect the tape, we fix the tip of the thread. Now twist the ribbon until you get a rose. We take out the pins. Do-it-yourself satin flowers are ready!

Method three

Based on the kanzashi technique, flowers from satin ribbons can be used to create a decorative element from a single ribbon. As usual, first we carefully process the edges of the tape - we do not need extra threads. We bend one and a half centimeters from the edge diagonally, roll the fold to the left, making three turns - this is how we got the middle of the rose. We sew the middle carefully so that it holds securely.

Now we make simple movements: holding the rose from below, bend the tape down and then around the middle of the flower. Sew the petal to the center. In the same way, you need to sew all the petals. The folds are carefully grasped with inconspicuous stitches. Such roses are voluminous and large, so on their basis you can easily create a tree of happiness.

Method four

We will create these flowers from satin ribbons with our own hands on the basis of a narrow ribbon, and we will get pleated roses. Our work steps are as follows:

  1. We divide the tape in half and find its middle, fold it.
  2. We shift the ends of the tape so that a right angle is formed.
  3. Holding the fold, we throw the end of the tape from the right hand to the left.
  4. We throw the end of the tape looking down upward. We do this until the tape runs out.
  5. As a result, we get an accordion.
  6. We hold the ends of the tape and gradually release the resulting accordion.
  7. We pull on one end of the ribbon so that the accordion begins to gather, resembling a rose in appearance.
  8. We turn the rose towards us reverse side, carefully tie it into a knot. Now our flower will definitely not crumble.
  9. We cut off the excess ends of the tape, carefully process the edges.

Method five

You can create flowers from satin ribbons of the simplest form based on kanzashi, but they will be spectacular. The process is simple:

  1. From the edge of the tape you need to retreat 6 cm, bend it with the front side towards you.
  2. We fold the ribbon into an accordion.
  3. Turn it over so that the folds remain on the sides. The top of the accordion is carefully trimmed.
  4. We dissolve the tape and process the edges.
  5. We leave a seam along the bottom edge, pull the thread to pick up the tape.
  6. Now we gradually wind the tape from one of its ends, increasing the number of petals.

Method six

Flowers from satin ribbons look very beautiful in the interior and on clothes. The master class will tell you how to make a simple rose from a ribbon that will have hard edges. To create a flower, we need a satin ribbon up to 4 m long with a wire edge and felt. The work steps are as follows:

  1. Cut out a circle with a diameter of 5 cm from felt.
  2. We need to dissolve one edge by 1 cm to free the wire. We bend it so that the wire does not fly out of the tape.
  3. We do the same with the second end.
  4. We pull on the second end of the wire to collect the tape. Our goal is to get neat uniform waves.
  5. We begin to glue the tape to the felt with hot glue around the circumference, moving towards the center.
  6. In the center, the ribbon must be distributed so that the flower is harmonious.

kanzashi dandelion

Flowers from satin ribbons (master class) can be created not only on the basis of petals. For example, to create a dandelion, we need to stock up on a glass or wooden board, scissors, a glue gun, a soldering iron, a metal ruler and tape. The work is as follows:

  1. Cut off part of the tape - the size depends on the diameter of the flower. One and a half meters of tape is enough to create a dandelion with a diameter of 7 cm.
  2. We make cuts with a soldering iron at a distance of 4-5 mm to the edge, the distance between the cuts should be about 3 mm.
  3. The cut ribbon now needs to be folded in half so that the front side is on top.
  4. The tape is glued, which will later allow it to be conveniently rolled up.
  5. Gluing is also carried out when the roll is rolled up.
  6. So the dandelion is ready, it remains to supplement it with leaves.

Lilac

These do-it-yourself satin flowers require perseverance. First, we make a round petal from a ribbon - a diameter of about 2.5-3 cm. We need at least 50 such petals! After the blanks are created, let's start gluing them: you need to glue 4 petals to form one lilac flower. Glue beads into the center of the flower. Now we create leaves from a green ribbon: for this, we fold the fabric in half, process its edges, and then turn it inside out. We connect flowers with leaves.

Sunflower

This master class is also quite difficult, so you have to work hard. To begin with, we need a base for a flower - for this we cut out a circle from thick cardboard the size of a CD. To create seeds, you will need a 25 mm tape, and the petals will be inside out. Now we do the following:

  1. We cut the squares.
  2. We fold the petal in half - once, second, third.
  3. We process the edges.
  4. We turn it out - this is how the inverted petal turned out.
  5. To create the outer petals, use a wider ribbon. We twist them and fasten them.
  6. Now it remains to glue the resulting petals to the cardboard base. We glue from the center!
  7. Gluing the outer petals is done in a checkerboard pattern.

layered kanzashi flower

To create a three-layer kanzashi flower, we need to prepare a meter of satin ribbon of different widths and colors, fabric for the base - felt is best, an interesting center for the flower, glue and scissors.

  1. From a wide satin ribbon (5 cm wide) we cut out 16 squares of two flowers, and then another 20 squares from a ribbon 4 cm wide and about 10 squares from the third ribbon.
  2. We collect sharp petals in the usual way.
  3. On the basis of felt we create three circles of different diameters.
  4. We connect the petals with glue, forming flowers - we need three pieces. The largest will be 5 cm wide, and the smallest will be from the narrowest tape.
  5. Each flower from the inside is complemented by pieces of fabric that fit in size and diameter.
  6. We collect a multilayer flower, not sparing the glue from the inside. Each layer must be carefully laid on the next, observing symmetry.
  7. We decorate the center of the upper flower with the middle. Our flower is ready!

A branch of flowers

A beautiful bouquet of satin ribbons can decorate various accessories. You can create it from fabric of any width - it depends on what size flowers you like. The work is as follows:

  1. Cut the fabric into pieces of 10 cm each. From each such segment, we will then make 5 petals.
  2. We fasten one of the corners with a thread, sew it along the edge, and then carefully tighten it. Avoid sudden movements, as they can lead to puffs.
  3. After the thread is pulled together, carefully fasten it.
  4. In this way we make the rest of the flowers.
  5. Now we make stamens from the type tape, decorate the flowers with them - they are completely ready!
  6. It remains only to collect the bouquet! To do this, carefully glue the resulting flowers onto the base until all are used.

Kanzashi today

Kanzashi is an art that originated in Japan 400 years ago. It was then that the Japanese began to invent various ways hair styling. To keep them, various hairpins were required. It was their Japanese women who decided to decorate, thereby bringing individuality to their images. Kanzashi began to be considered almost a symbol of a woman's inner worldview, a symbol of her social class. In the traditional version, art focuses on the creation of flowers that could be complemented by precious stones.

Kanzashi today are bright accessories that can be used to complement clothes, a hat, a hairstyle, and even embroider paintings. In Japan, brides were considered the most important carrier of this kind of jewelry - it was they who chose kanzashi for decorating veils or wedding dress. In the interior, this technique has also found its embodiment: decorative compositions based on ribbon flowers and various decorations are an excellent solution for interiors in many styles.

It is noteworthy that in Japan kanzashi are also worn by geisha, and depending on the month on the calendar, the flowers can be very different in color and style. And especially the place among the decorative ornaments is occupied by Hana kanzashi - flower arrangements that decorate different types of hairpins. To create them, Japanese craftsmen use squares of silk fabric, each of which is carefully folded and turned into a petal with tweezers. On the basis of such petals, you can create a whole floral composition, paying attention to the compatibility of colors.

Kanzashi flowers have become very popular as hair ornaments, and this is now a favorite type of needlework for many craftswomen. It is more correct to call them kanzashi - these are Japanese traditional women's jewelry for hair. Kanzashi is worn with a kimono. And here they are used as bows for girls, and decorate dresses, bags, postcards, hair bands and much more. These products are made from satin ribbons and decorated with beads, sequins and rhinestones. Even ribbon embroidery can be done using the kanzashi technique. Our editors have collected simple and understandable lessons for you so that you can understand everything step by step. Watch our MK, and, perhaps, crafts using the kanzashi technique will become your favorite hobby.

Kanzashi is a technique for creating flower decorations made from materials such as silk, organza, satin. The first acquaintance with kanzashi, for beginners to understand this type of needlework, may seem rather difficult. In fact, this technique is incredibly simple. It is only once to understand its basics and it will be impossible to stop.

Kanzashi - a technique for creating flower decorations made from materials such as silk, organza, satin

The study of any kind of needlework begins with the basics, since only they help to master it perfectly. One of the most common types of kanzashi, tsumami, is based on only two types of petals: round and sharp, and everything else depends on the imagination and skill of the needlewoman.

DIY basic petals

To make petals you will need the following materials and tools:

  • satin ribbon 5 cm wide;
  • ruler or centimeter;
  • scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • colorless glue (for example, Moment Crystal) or a glue gun;
  • candle, lighter or matches (it is most convenient to work with a candle).

Learning any kind of needlework starts with the basics

Having prepared everything you need, you can start creating a petal:

  1. Measure 5 cm from the tape and cut.
  2. Fold the resulting square diagonally to form a triangle.
  3. Next, fold both side ends alternately to the middle so that you get a rhombus.
  4. Then fold the rhombus in half along its back side, again you get a triangle.
  5. Now you need tweezers. They need to pinch the side of the petal that is crumbling.
  6. Cut off the edge and burn.
  7. That's all, the round petal is ready. Having made a few more petals, you can collect them into a flower.

The sharp petal is done a little differently:

  1. First, cut out a square, measuring a length of 5 cm from the tape.
  2. Then it folds in half diagonally, turning into a triangle, which also needs to be folded in half.
  3. You will end up with a smaller triangle that needs to be folded in half again.
  4. One corner of the resulting figure will be with crumbling edges. It must be clamped with tweezers and singe over the flame of a candle or lighter. The sharp petal is ready.

Having studied the basics of the technique and learned how to make basic petals, you can start making a wide variety of flowers: both simple and complex. At the very beginning, it is best to rely on master classes that describe in detail the entire process of making blanks and assembling.

How to make the easiest kanzashi flower?

After making several basic petals, you can make one, albeit simple, but very beautiful flower.

The manufacturing process can be divided into three stages:

  1. Collection of petals, carried out both with glue and thread with a needle. Moreover, the second option is preferable, since it provides the most reliable coupling between them.
  2. The design of the back side of the flower consists in gluing a base to it, suitable for further use. It can be felt or ordinary cardboard, covered with a fabric that matches the color.
  3. Front side decoration. After collecting a flower, it has an open middle, which does not always look beautiful. You can hide it with the help of various beads or other small details. They can be glued with both hot glue and Moment.

After making several basic petals, you can make one, albeit simple, but very beautiful flower.

After these stages, the flower is completely ready. It can be used as a decoration for a hair band, headband, comb or brooch.

How to make a dahlia using kanzashi with your own hands: step by step instructions

A wide variety of flowers are collected from satin ribbons, including dahlias. Moreover, the petals for them are folded in a slightly different way. Find out exactly how below.

For work, prepare the following materials:

  • satin ribbon 2.5 and 1.2 cm wide;
  • scissors;
  • tweezers;
  • glue (moment crystal or hot);
  • ruler;
  • a candle;
  • piece of felt.

A wide variety of flowers are collected from satin ribbons, including dahlias.

Step-by-step instructions for making a flower include:

  1. Preparation. At this step, blanks for the petals are made from the ribbon. Rectangles 7 cm long are cut from a tape 2.5 cm wide, and rectangles 5 cm wide are cut from the other. From 27 to 30 pieces are required for one flower. large rectangles and 16-20 pcs. small ones.
  2. Making petals. Take one of the rectangles with the wrong side towards you, mentally divide it into three equal parts. Next, fold the left edge inwards at a 90º angle, with the top of the corner at the third point. Then you need to connect the top and bottom peaks, once again bending the left edge of the tape. In this case, you should pay attention to its ends, they must converge. Next, on the front side of the resulting figure, fold the sides inward. And upper part bend slightly, but the bottom is a little more (the side edges should converge in the center). Fix the edge of the petal with tweezers, and use a candle to singe its ends. Do the rest of the flower petals in the same way.
  3. assembly. Take a piece of felt and cut out a circle with a diameter of 4 cm from it. The petals will be collected on it. And this is how it is done: take one large petal, coat its lower corner from the wrong side, attach it to the felt base and press it lightly. So the first circle is glued. The remaining petals are used for the second circle, and it is desirable to place their tops between the first petals. In the event that after gluing the second circle, you still have petals, glue them to the wrong side of the base. So the first row of the flower will become more magnificent. Now it remains to attach small petals. Their first row is glued to the central large petals, that is, they seem to be nested one inside the other. The rest are evenly distributed inside the central circle of the felt base.
  4. Decoration. After all the petals of the flower are collected, it remains open in the middle. It can be covered with a bead, carnation or some other small decoration.

That's all, the kanzashi dahlia flower is completely ready.

Master class on the topic: how to make a kanzashi rose

Roses made in kanzashi style are almost as beautiful as real roses. Moreover, for their manufacture, there are many different ways. In this tutorial, you will learn one of them.

So, for work you will need:

  • two colors of satin ribbon 5 cm wide (green for leaves and red, pink or any other for the rose itself);
  • glue gun;
  • thread with a needle;
  • scissors;
  • lighter.

I do not claim to be an expert in this area, my article is more for beginners. I will try to tell you about all the nuances of this needlework and teach you several techniques for creating flowers from ribbons.

The uniqueness and simplicity of this needlework

If you look at photographs of flowers from ribbons, the beauty and sophistication of flower arrangements, then this skill will seem incredibly difficult. I hasten to please you, this is not so.

The flower you have conceived will always work out, of course, depending on the experience and skills gained, the end result will be different.

Artificial flowers are made from various materials, knit, weave from macrame, mold from polymer clay All these methods require talent and special skills.

In our case, it will suffice to carefully study step by step instructions for beginners, how to make flowers from ribbons and you will succeed.

I will say a few words about the strength of products made of nylon tapes. It all depends on the functionality of the future product, if the flowers decorate the interior, then special reliability is not necessary here, but if the flower decorates a children's headband or headband, then you need to try to make a very high-quality thing.

Methods for making flowers from ribbons

I want to tell and show you some basic ways to create flowers from ribbons. Having mastered this simple science, you can create any kind of flowers.

My advice to you, try to make any fantasy copy using one of the techniques, and you will feel all the nuances of the method you have chosen and master it faster.

Preparation for needlework

  • Any ribbon you like in different colors and sizes
  • Needles and threads
  • sharp scissors
  • glue gun
  • Tweezers
  • Centers for flowers or beads, sequins
  • Floral sleeve (or tube to thicken the stem).

Also prepare a desktop with a table lamp.

Kanzashi

With the kanzashi technique, my acquaintance with flowers from satin ribbons began. This technique came to us from Japan, kanzashi are decorated with hairpins or hairpins.

Girls' hairstyles bloom with chic flowers, thanks to such hairpins. Due to the fashion for kanzashi, more and more needlewomen are mastering this completely simple technique.

In addition to the prepared materials mentioned above, take a ruler, pattern chalk and a candle for singeing the tips.

Three types of leaves are used in kanzashi: round, long and sharp.

  • First, cut a 5 cm wide satin ribbon into squares, naturally the same.
  • We take a square and fold the corners to each other, as shown in the photo and lower the extreme corners to the lower central corner.
  • Then we wind the side corners back and clamp with tweezers.
  • The lower cut, if necessary, is cut off and melted over the candle.
  • Thus, a round petal is obtained, of which several pieces need to be made.
  • We collect the finished petals on a thread, fold them into a flower and glue them to the base, attach a bead to the middle with a glue gun.

Congratulations on your first kanzashi flower!

I present to you a few video tutorials on how to make flowers from ribbons.

Creating a more lush flower.

Note!

Creating double petals using the kanzashi technique, from which the cutest butterflies and beautiful snowflakes are obtained.

melted petals

Another way to create flowers from ribbons is melted petals. This method is good for making large flower arrangements, for example, I made a basket of roses.

However, there are some nuances here:

  • Not all ribbons are well suited for such colors;
  • Melted petals do not look as neat as kanzashi;
  • It may not work right away, you need to “fill your hand”.

A more suitable material for creating these colors is nylon ribbons.

Manufacturing instructions.

  • We make a pattern in the shape of a half heart, as shown in the photo;
  • Next, cut out the petals of 7 large pieces, 7 medium pieces and the same number of small ones;
  • The edges of each petal you cut are melted over the candle, after such processing the petals become voluminous;
  • We collect the petals on a thread in a checkerboard pattern, with a slight overlap, then the flower will be lush;
  • We attach beads to the core.
  • The flower is ready.

Note!

Charming ribbon embroidery

Yes, they also embroider with ribbons! In embroidery, ribbons of different widths are used, which, with proper drapery, creates volume and beauty of the embroidered picture.

This technique is good for several reasons:

  • Quick result;
  • Ribbon embroidery looks very rich and is appreciated among lovers;
  • Not complicated schemes, if desired, everyone can do it.

I have prepared several master classes, watch and learn.

Now they sell a lot of kits for embroidery with ribbons, such kits are very good for beginner needlewomen, there is a pattern, a canvas, a set of ribbons, threads and everything that is used to create a picture.

If you want exclusive work, you can draw up schemes, choose colors and textures yourself.

Note!

Photo of flowers from ribbons with your own hands

The technique of making flowers from satin ribbons came from distant Japan.

Women gladly decorated their hair with numerous garlands on holidays.

On weekdays, the outfits were more modest.

The order of weaving is simple.

Differs in detail and brightness of the used paints. Flowers are made only from fabric.

A simple technique for making kanzashi flowers from satin ribbons

An example is a living rose flower. You can use satin fabric, for example, pink shades, unlike those shown in the picture. It is recommended to purchase a 125 mm double-sided glitter satin ribbon in the store.

Tools and improvised materials: fabric of different shades, needle and thread to match.

Tape is in hand. The top corner is folded over and sewn on with a double stitch.

The tape is rolled into a roll for 6 turns. The edges should be rolled up evenly.

Now the tape is bent at an angle of 45 degrees, and then wrapped once around the folded roll. For successful fastening of the fabric and maintaining the desired shape, the tape is stitched.

In a similar technique, at an angle of 45 degrees, the future rose folds further. Each turn of the fabric is fixed with a stitch.

When the rose acquires the desired shape and volume, the satin ribbon can be cut off and the tip sewn to the bud.

To top it off, in the overall picture, the rest of the kanzashi flowers from satin ribbons are folded from the fabric. Each flower has a hair band attached to it. After that, the decoration can be worn on the head. A few flowers will make a wonderful ensemble on the headband.

Rose flower in kanzashi technique from satin ribbons

The second experiment with creating a rose with your own hands is even more interesting. Now the future rose will turn out airy and tender. All its petals will sensually flutter from the breath of the breeze or at the slightest movement of the hostess of the jewelry.

Tools and improvised materials: satin fabric of a pleasant red shade, green satin fabric, a piece of green felt, hairpin, paper, ruler, pencil, scissors, thread, needle, candle, matches, tweezers, glue, wire white color and foil.

A paper template (or pattern) of a rose petal is being made. In the figure, the paper is lined into centimeter squares. A sketch is drawn with a pencil and cut out with scissors.

According to the template, satin petals are cut out in the amount of 6 pieces.

According to the template with an allowance of 0.5 cm, more petals are cut out in the amount of 6 pieces. They are, accordingly, larger in size than the previous ones.

The paper template is cut with scissors along the entire edge by 0.5 cm. Very small petals are cut out of it in the amount of 6 pieces.

All the resulting petals of the future flower are processed along the edges to prevent shedding of the fabric on the cuts. To do this, a candle flame is lit. Each petal is brought to it and its edge melts a little. At the moment of melting, the fabric is important to stretch. This will give the petals the desired waviness. So around the perimeter.

On fire, the petals are given a concave shape. To do this, each of them is taken with tweezers and held for a fraction of a second at the flame of a candle. The fabric will curl up a bit.

Assembly of petals into a bud. There are two assembly techniques: when the petals are sewn in a circle, and when they are connected in a checkerboard pattern. Choose any method yourself. With the help of a needle and thread, each petal is sewn along the bottom edge into one kanzashi flower bud from satin ribbons with your own hands.

Flower stamens are made from wire and foil. The foil on the wire must be fixed with glue. After that, the finished stamens are inserted into the center of the bud and stitched with a few stitches. Some craftswomen make stamens from cotton buds. In this case, it is recommended to paint the cotton tips in the desired color and, after the paint dries, apply a layer of glue so that such a bright beauty does not wash off if the decoration gets caught in the rain.

The last ones are sewn with petals.

Making kanzashi flower foliage from satin ribbons. A green ribbon is used, 10 cm long. Its edges are processed with a familiar method at the flame of a candle. The corners of the future sheet are bent towards the middle and stitched from the bottom with a basting seam, which will allow the fabric to be pulled together to create a wave. The strips of fabric sticking out from the underside are sewn with a blind seam.

A circle or an oval is cut out of the prepared piece of felt. Leaves are first glued to it, and then a rose. This process occurs with the help of the imposition of "hot glue".

A hairpin is sewn to the felt. That's all, a gentle quivering rose to decorate the head is ready!

A ball of kanzashi flowers from satin ribbons

It is popular to have a coffee tree or similar coffee composition at home. What if someone is allergic to coffee? Or just don't like the smell? Make a kanzashi flower ball from satin ribbons. It is very beautiful and complements the interior with a Japanese traditional twist.

Tools and improvised materials: foam, cardboard for a tube, glue, satin ribbon, felt (or burlap), thread, needle, scissors, curly ruler (or compass), pencil.

A round base is made for the flower. To do this, draw a circle on the felt (or burlap).

The circle must be given a conical shape. To do this, a triangle is drawn in it, as shown in the figure. The circle is cut out. A triangular segment is cut off with scissors and the edges of the circle are sewn with a hidden seam. Got a cone. The wider the triangle is made, the higher and sharper the cone will be, and the smaller the ball will end up.

A satin ribbon is superimposed on the cone, the edges of which are sewn to the textile base.

The satin ribbon is bent at an angle of 45 degrees. The fold is fixed with a stitch.

When the fabric has covered the entire cone, it is cut off and hidden under the flower. Additional kanzashi flowers are made from satin ribbons in a similar way.

A ball is cut out of the foam. A tube is rolled up from cardboard. The position is fixed with glue. The tube is decorated with decorative elements: thin tape, colored paper. A recess is made in the foam ball for the tube, which is inserted there, previously lubricated with glue.

If it is impossible to use foam in the work, it is replaced with crumpled paper wrapped with adhesive tape.

Kanzashi flowers from satin ribbons are glued onto the resulting ball. The ball is decorated with pearls.
