The end of December is a great time on the eve of the new year. Matinees dedicated to the new year are held in schools. Everyone is having fun and rejoicing, because the holidays are coming soon. I really love winter holidays, especially because this is the time of the new year. And the new year is my favorite holiday. I just love decorating the Christmas tree: sorting and hanging colorful balls, toys in the form of animals, bright tinsel and garlands. Usually, when I decorate the tree, I turn on the compilation new year songs from which the mood becomes even more festive.

Most often, it is just before the new year that snow falls, it is frosty and fresh outside, the trees are covered with frost and fluffy white snow. Everything around shines and shimmers in the sun with multi-colored lights, as if someone had scattered diamonds everywhere. The rivers are shackled by people, you walk along the trodden paths, and the snow crunches under your feet, as if someone is a waffle cake.

I also like that the winter holidays last almost two weeks, you can take a break from school days, sleep longer or lie in bed. You can spend more time outdoors: sledding, ice skating or skiing, playing snowballs with friends, and when you freeze, run home to warm up with hot tea with honey and wrap yourself in a warm blanket.

In addition to the new year, during the winter holidays, there are still several happy Holidays... I like to visit my relatives and friends. Everyone prepares a lot of goodies and treats each other. In the evening, before Christmas, we go to visit our godfathers and carry with us kutya with nuts and halva. We always have a lot of fun: we eat kutya, drink tea, play board games... It happens that you stand by the window and look at the lights burning in the neighboring houses.

For the New Year, all families are decorating a Christmas tree. We, of course, were no exception. Grandmother took out old toys from the box, which are more than a century old, but they are very well preserved. We buy something new for old toys every year. So on our tree you can find the most different decorations, as old toys, keeping in themselves the memory and history of a whole century, and new multi-colored balls. We hang the garland not only on the tree, but also on the wall, as well as on the window, in order to evoke a holiday mood among passers-by. We also hang sweets on the tree, I tie strings to them and beautifully distribute them around the tree.

During the winter holidays, I spent a lot of time outside. My friends and I sculpted various bizarre figures from the snow or ordinary snowmen with a carrot nose. We also went downhill and played snowballs. When it was too cold outside, we would gather at my house and play computer games but this was not common.
