How to make a paper soldier with your own hands

Making paper toys is available to everyone in principle. Anything can be made of paper, for example, soldiers of all times and peoples - you just need to choose the right silhouette and figure out what uniforms the army is wearing. Designing paper soldiers can keep your sons busy for a long time, and many prominent military figures began their careers with just such an activity. See also others in this section.

For the manufacture of paper soldier you will need thick paper or thin cardboard, felt-tip pens, pencils or paints, a piece of thick cardboard. The uniform can be made from thin colored paper, or you can draw it. Also stock up on PVA glue, scissors, a sharp knife, a compass and a ruler.

Find a suitable picture with a soldier. He must be depicted in full growth. It is highly desirable that the soldier stands straight. You can, of course, make a soldier in profile, and on a horse, and with a cannon, but still paper for this is not the most suitable material, since the soldiers will turn out to be flat. Cut out the figure of a soldier strictly along the contour lines.

Fold a piece of paper or thin cardboard in half, right side out. Lay the figurine of a soldier on the sheet so that the top line of the shako or cap is on the fold line. Circle the figure strictly along the contour.

You can print this blank of soldiers, and then just cut and glue them.

Blanks of paper soldiers

In order for the soldier to stand, he will need a stand. To make it, draw a straight line where the soldier has the soles of his boots. If the soldier is small, then it is enough to continue the line 2 cm from the toe of each boot. Divide the resulting line in half, put a compass needle in the middle of the line and connect the ends of the line with a semicircle, the radius of which is equal to half the line. On a piece of thick cardboard, draw a circle of the same radius and cut it out.

Cut out the soldier. The sheet of cardboard is folded in half in exactly the same way as when you traced the figure. The next step is up to you. You can first color the soldier, and then glue it, or you can do the opposite. Do not paint over or glue the half circles intended for the stand. On one half of the workpiece, draw the soldier's face, hair, shako visor, make buttons and aiguillettes. On the other, draw a rear view - the shako is completely painted over, the uniform and everything else too. You can make a mentic or tunic with an appliqué by tracing the pattern again, cutting out the clothes along the contour and sticking it on the workpiece.

Bend the stand so that one semicircle is in front and the other is behind. Coat the stand with glue and glue it to a circle of thick cardboard.

And the article we have today is about boyish toys. It is perhaps difficult to find a boy who would not play with soldiers in his childhood. In the minds of most of our contemporaries, they, that is, soldiers, are perceived only as children's toys. But, firstly, this is a too simplistic approach, and secondly, many famous people, already quite adults, were not shy about their addiction to small toy warriors. Their list includes French monarchs Louis XIV, Napoleon I and Napoleon II, Russian commander Alexander Suvorov and his contemporary Emperor Paul I, German composer Johannes Brahms, English writer Robert Stevenson, English Prime Minister Winston Churchill and many others, famous and less famous personality.

Soldiers - ancient toys

The history of the soldier goes back more than 4 thousand years. The oldest of them were found in the tombs of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Made of wood, the figurines personified the guard guarding the deceased ruler in the afterlife.

The terracotta guard from the mausoleum of the ancient Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang is known all over the world. The full-height figures of his bodyguards are made with the highest detail, and each face is so individual that there is not the slightest doubt about the portrait resemblance.

In the Middle Ages, European kings and nobles became interested in playing soldiers. It was perhaps the only social stratum that could afford such pleasure, because the material for the manufacture of figurines was most often precious metals. The games themselves had tactical and strategic moments - in them, future commanders studied the basics of commanding military units.

In the XVII - XVIII centuries. more than one self-respecting royal court could not do without a collection of miniature warriors. And at the beginning of the 19th century, soldiers finally became available to the general consumer and went to the masses. This is due, oddly enough, to the spread of cheap faience dishes. Prior to this, European dishes were mostly cast from tin. But faience technology turned out to be much more economical, and tin foundries simply could not stand the competition. In search of a new market, they turned to the production of pewter figurines. And so the textbook tin soldier was born. It happened in the German city of Nuremberg, and the first soldiers among collectors are called so: the Nuremberg miniature.

Remember, Andersen: from one tin spoon - 25 soldiers? Compared with the products of modern factories, you will have to be surprised at the size of the spoons of that time. But the surprise will be premature: the then spoons were no more than the current spoons. But the soldiers, on the contrary, were inferior in parameters to their descendants of the beginning of the 21st century. The Nuremberg figurines were flat, no thicker than 3 mm, and the height of the foot soldier was approximately 30 mm. So it is not surprising that two dozen resistant pewter came out of one spoon.

Subsequently, volumetric figures appeared, more interesting, but also more expensive, and the most expensive among mass production were made completely collapsible. Russian artist of the turn of the XIX - XX centuries. Alexander Benois recalled that he perceived the appearance of such collapsible soldiers as a real holiday.

In the 20th century, the range of raw materials for the production of soldiers expanded significantly due to polymeric materials. After World War II, toy soldiers became one of the most sought after items on the toy market. In the same period, the military-historical wargame (military-tactical games with soldiers) is gaining popularity. Unlike similar games of the Middle Ages and Modern times, now they are dedicated to specific events in military history, be it the Spartacus uprising or the Battle of Stalingrad. The main contingent of wargamers is by no means children, but young people from sixteen and older.

At the same time, the collection of toy soldiers is also developing - both ancient hundred and two hundred years ago, and modern ones, released specifically for collectors.

Be that as it may, the spirit of Andersen's soldier did not burn out in the flame of the stove, but continues to warm the hearts of millions of "soldiers" around the world.

But about the soldiers made of wood (from the book by V.S. Goricheva "Dolls"):

Photo from the youngest participant in and the first man among the participants of all the contests of my blog. Meet - Arkhangelsky Stepan, 11 years.

Stepan lives in the city of Kavalerovo and, as befits boys, is not indifferent to war games. He likes to sculpt knights and all sorts of warriors from plasticine. Basically, he does this in the children's group at the Svetlitsa club.

The description of the work is short: plasticine is taken different color. Stepan sculpts without a base. Tearing off the mass in small pieces, he creates the required shape, looking at the picture.

And it turns out this knight:

Tin soldiers- these are the favorite toys of boys of all time, but what if you have only one soldier of a certain shape, and you need several for a game or for a collection? In this case, you can try to make them yourself, however, it will take a lot of patience and diligence.

How to make a tin soldier at home? Read this manual, look at the pictures and try to make it. If you try, then the soldier should turn out.

In order to make a new tin soldier, you will need a ready-made soldier, as a model. It is necessary to wash off the paint from it with acetone, if it is painted, and then proceed to the manufacture of the mold for casting.

How to make a mold for casting tin soldiers

A mold for casting tin soldiers is made from three constituent parts: two parts are plaster, and the third is a bar of metal.

1. Take an even block of plasticine and press the sample soldier into it halfway, and press the metal bar to the soldier’s stand as shown in Figure 1.

2. Make a fence out of the walls of a matchbox and protect the plasticine blank with it - just stick it into the plasticine as in Figure 2. Make two or three recesses in the plasticine, as in the figure. These pits will be needed when joining the two halves of the future plaster mold.

3. Apply vegetable oil the entire surface of the plasticine, the soldier pressed into it, the pits and the metal bar, and proceed to making a mold from plaster. To do this, pour gypsum or alabaster powder sifted through a sieve into a cup and, while stirring, pour so much cold water into it that the mixture looks like liquid sour cream.

4. Slowly and carefully pour the plaster from the cup into the plasticine blank. In this case, you must carefully monitor that there are no bubbles. Due to the chemical reaction, the gypsum will heat up a little and it must be given time to cool - 10-15 minutes.

5. When the plaster has cooled, carefully remove half of the plaster mold and take out the soldier.

6. The second half of the plaster mold is made in the same way as the first one already made, but instead of a plasticine blank, take the first half of the mold along with the soldier placed in it. Substitute a metal bar to the soldier’s stand and stick a fence with plasticine (Fig. 6).

Lubricate the surface inside the fence with oil, fill it with liquid gypsum, and when it cools down, separate the halves of the mold, carefully remove the sample soldier, and leave the mold to dry for a week.

7. In order to pour tin into the mold, it is necessary to make a sprue in it - a special groove, which is easy to cut with a knife from the edge of the mold to the base of the figure in both of its halves. Also, with the tip of the knife, you need to scratch the scratch-groove from the edges of the figure to the edges of the shape. These are airs, through which the air displaced by molten tin will exit the mold. Airs should not be made too wide, otherwise the poured tin will flow out of the mold through them.

8. Before casting, lay a smooth sheet of paper between the tightly clenched halves of the mold and the metal bar for thermal insulation.

How to make a tin soldier at home, casting a soldier

To cast a figurine of a soldier, find a clean jar (suitable for Vaseline) and bend it with pliers in the form of a ladle (as in the figure). From such a ladle it will be more convenient to pour liquid tin into the mold.

Fit pliers instead of a handle to the ladle, put on a mitten or glove and carefully melt the pieces of tin in it on the stove.

When the tin is melted, hold firmly in your hand the two halves of the mold put together (keep them sprue up) together with a bar of metal (as in the figure) and pour the liquid tin into the mold.

DO THIS CAREFULLY, DO NOT SPILL molten TIN ON HAND OR LEGS, DO NOT ACCIDENTLY SPLASH IT IN THE FACE AND DO NOT BURN YOURSELF!!!

Then let the tin cool well, carefully open the mold and the tin soldier is almost ready. It remains only to remove the excess with wire cutters and process the figure with a needle file. If the figurine is unsuccessful, then it can be melted down and the soldier cast again.

How to make a tin soldier at home if there is no sample

If there is no ready-made soldier for the sample, then you can copy the exact profile of the soldier from the picture you like on thick paper and cut it out. To make the cut profile embossed, you can stick thick pieces of paper on it. They must be glued one on top of the other on both sides of the profile (as in the picture), and the edges of the thicknesses can be leveled with plasticine. Small details can be scratched into a ready-made plaster mold.

Here is an instruction on how to make a tin soldier at home. It remains only to paint it with a thin brush with oil paints diluted with oil varnish or turpentine. Only it is necessary to paint first all the one-color parts, and then, after letting them dry, the parts of other colors.

Origami paper tank, step by step instructions with photo

An origami tank is a great idea for a souvenir gift for dads and grandpas for birthdays and February 23rd. In both cases, you can write congratulations immediately on the armor of the tank.

Fold an A4 sheet in half along its long side, cut along the fold line. Set one part aside, you won't need it. From the edge of the wide side, cut a piece equal to the length of the edge of the side and 1 cm wide.

On a larger rectangular piece of paper, we bend both corners on both narrow sides diagonally, first from one, and then from the second side.

We turn the sheet over and first bend one narrow side into the middle to the place where the lines of the previous stage intersect, and then the second side.

Let's turn the piece over. On one side, we bend the upper corner to the fold line, and then the lower one. Fold into a triangle. The procedure is repeated on the second side.

We turn the corner of the upper triangle on one of the sides in the other direction, and lift the corner up. We do the same with the second side.

We turn over the workpiece. We bend the narrow sides up, and put the ends into each other.

From the small rectangle that was cut off at the beginning, twist the tube to form a barrel. Insert it into the tank.

Origami paper plane, master class

Fold a sheet of double-sided multi-colored paper in half. Iron the edge. Then turn over to the back side, bend the same in half.

First, bend the right and then the upper left corners of the rectangle to the center.

Without changing the location of the workpiece, bend the edges again towards the center.

Bend the workpiece in half with triangles in the middle.

Stepping back from the edges of 5 cm, we form the wings, bending the sides outward.

We bend the end of the wings of the aircraft by about 1 cm in the middle.

The origami arrow plane is ready.

Place a sheet of A4 green double-sided paper with the long side facing you. Mark the top and bottom 6 cm each, draw a line, cut the sheet along this line.

Fold the sheet in half, then unfold. Fold the top and bottom of the sheet to the center fold line.

We turn the part over and in the same way we bend the edges to the center.

We turn the workpiece over again and open the middle of the workpiece, bending the sides in the opposite direction, not reaching the edge on the right side 2 cm.

We turn the part over, bend it in half so that the upper part does not reach the bottom by about 5 cm.

Flip over to the back with the fold down. We retreat 1 cm from the bend, apply a ruler and bend the upper part of the part.

Stepping back from the line of the bend made a few millimeters, we bend the part back. Fold the left and right sides of the sleeve inwards. We put the workpiece aside.

We take a square with a side of 9 cm from brown paper, fold it diagonally in one, and then in the second side. Then unfold and fold in half.

Bend the right side of the rectangle inward, then the left. Get a triangle.

Bend the tip of the triangle down, bend it. top unfold the paper and wrap it with the tips up, bend the side parts into the middle.

Glue the boots to the body.

From the green strip that remained at the beginning, we make a square, and from white paper we cut out a triangle equal to the diagonal of the square. Let's glue it together.

Bend the top of the rhombus inwards.

Pass a tube through this part.

The gun is ready.
