Forest Survival Kit - A list of essentials. The most essential things during the hike. What to take with you on a hike? What to pack forest list

Breast cancer

Travel accessories are something that can be stored for years and can be used for generations if the purchase is chosen correctly and taken care of well. Outdoor trips can be the most memorable moments of the year, so they need to be planned correctly so that nothing overshadows your stay in the forest. In this article, we will offer a list of the most necessary things for a family, a couple or a large company on a hike.

Short-term and long-term tourist attractions: nuances

All events can be roughly divided into three categories:

  1. One-day. No overnight stay is planned, the main task is to spend the time as interesting as possible, to get a lot of impressions. Usually, these options are suitable for children and teenagers, as well as married couples with toddlers. In addition, picnics can be arranged on weekdays when you need to go to work in the morning. They can be carried out both at one planned place, for example, by the river, and with movements over short distances. You can create a cycling route with several stops - for lunch, sightseeing, entertainment. Usually they take with them on a day trip what they really need for a short time - food, bathing accessories, blankets or special foam for parking. But they do not include in the list tents and other things required for a long stay in nature.
  2. All weekend. Perhaps the most common option, since it does not require lengthy preparation, but allows you to completely relax and take a break from the bustle of the city. You can start this weekend on Friday evening and end on Sunday. Here you will need things for a long stay, including bedding - a tent, sleeping bags. It is necessary to provide entertainment. This can be fishing with further preparation of fish soup, hunting, rafting down the river on boats. You need to take on a hike what you may need in case of urgent need - medicines, communication means to call for help (if you go on foot).
  3. Long vacation. These are various hiking trips - on foot, on bicycles, in kayaks, mountaineering. In this case, when choosing things, you adapt to the way of movement, because not every load can be carried on your shoulders.

It is also worth sharing the ways of spending time:

  • Picnic or camping - means staying in one place, without crossing with or without camp.
  • Rafting down the river - on rafts, kayaks, boats.
  • Climbing the mountain - you will need special mountaineering equipment.
  • Cycling.
  • Hiking trail.

Another important aspect when collecting a backpack is the planned route and its safety. It is worth considering a number of questions: how quickly you can be evacuated in a critical situation and how correctly and effectively you can provide medical assistance if necessary. In nature, various troubles can happen - fractures, snake bites, allergies, common cold, burns. Therefore, if you are planning a trip on impassable terrain, where you do not catch communication and there is no quick communication with the outside world, then you need to be especially careful about the contents of the first-aid kit.

How to plan a hike so you don't forget your hiking gear

You need to adhere to a clear algorithm of actions and follow the following recommendations:

  1. Appoint a leader. Even if it is a romantic picnic for two, one of the couple should take on the bulk of the organization. If this does not happen, then each member of the trip will shift responsibilities onto each other, which in general will lead to disorganization and lengthy gatherings with a great risk of forgetting something.
  2. Think over the route. If this is a day trip, then you should choose a place in advance, visit it, make sure that it will be free. If you plan to move, then you need to check the map and carefully choose the points for parking.
  3. Select and schedule a meeting time and place. This is especially true for a large company. All preparatory work should be completed in an hour. This will give everyone the opportunity to calmly think about who has forgotten what and not to rush in a hurry.
  4. Write a list of what to take on the hike. It is better if there are two or more of them - each participant can write a separate list, and then they can be compared and supplemented. This will eliminate the likelihood of forgetting something, so you can take into account all your wishes, discuss alternative options. In the future, if you repeat such events, you can save this sheet. And after the route has already been passed, the list can be supplemented with a few more points - which was not enough.
  5. View the weather forecast. This is very important recommendation: the wardrobe depends on it - whether to take insulated things, a jacket, raincoats. If thunderstorms and torrential rains are foreseen, then it may make sense to postpone the event.
  6. Go to the store in advance and buy groceries. The same applies to clothing and other travel accessories. If you are pressed for time, you can turn to popular online stores. On the website of the Tovarika trading platform, you can find all the missing accessories for a tourist. This is a Russian platform, so all goods arrive very quickly, without customs delays. There is a wide selection and very reasonable prices, since all products are from domestic manufacturers.

What you need for a day hike

For a picnic, you will need the following things:

  • Plaid or foam that is comfortable to sit on. You can take folding chairs, this will significantly increase the level of comfort. Better to use a heated mat "Teplovichok" - it heats up to 55 degrees. In the catalog of the "Tovarika" store, you can choose options of various sizes that are convenient to carry and use.
  • A folding table or oilcloth is an impromptu place for eating.
  • Tent or sun umbrellas.
  • If you have small children for whom a day's sleep is important, take a tent. When installed, it turns into a place not only for relaxation, but also for games.
  • Warm and comfortable things - even if it is warm during the day, then with the onset of the evening you will need a comfortable tracksuit and sneakers.
  • Bathing accessories and a towel, change of linen - if you are located near the reservoir.
  • Food and clean drinking water, other drinks.
  • Means for entertainment. Good: badminton, frisbee plate, volleyball, cards or board games.

From food you need to choose those that are not perishable. You can take a set for a barbecue or barbecue, but then you should take care of the presence of a barbecue, grill for frying or skewers, coals, means for igniting.

Be sure to take dishes and a trash bag. After any picnic, there is garbage that needs to be removed after itself.

What to take on a hike with an overnight stay

If you are planning to stay for one or more nights, then, in addition to the above, it is mandatory:

  • Tents. There are double, triple options. They differ in the design of the assembly - on bendable supports or a frame that can be quickly disassembled. The former are stronger, while the latter are easier to assemble.
  • Inflatable mattress and pump. If you like comfort, then take such an item. It won't be so convenient without it. It is important to choose right size so that it fits completely into the tent.
  • Foams. They protect well from the coolness of the earth, from moisture, dry quickly and are easy to carry and use. There are models with an additional coating in the form of foil-coated fabric. It prevents any ingress of water, even if it rains at night or dew forms in the morning.
  • Sleeping bags. They differ in the minimum temperature at which they can be used. On the inside, they are made of soft textiles that are pleasant to the body, and on the outside, they are made of fabric that does not release heat. Also classified by size. There are special options for children.
  • Blankets and pillows. They can replace a sleeping bag if one is not available, or spread it on foams to make it less rigid.
  • Flashlight. It is better to purchase several models for each member of the group. Another great option is a handheld spotlight. It is not very large, easy to install. With him, gatherings can be delayed well into the night.
  • Linens. This is an optional attribute, but it creates the usual comfort and also provides hygiene conditions.
  • Cleansers, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, and with them a towel.

Now let's take a look at all the parts of a travel bag separately.

What backpack to take when going on a hike

These backpacks are called travel or travel backpacks. Their design in a simplified form consists of the fabric container itself and two straps. The rest of the details are optional. That is why it is important to pay attention to two aspects:

  • capacity;
  • comfort fit on the shoulders.

The volume is chosen depending on gender, height, strength, as well as needs. If you are planning a hike or climbing a mountain, then the displacement should be large, since you need to take a lot with you. And in case of short picnics, one-day bike rides, take standard size, a little more than a school bag.

The optimal shape is oblong. This allows you to evenly distribute the load on the spine. These backpacks have several attachments - straps, 2-3 waist, hips, chest. Depending on the capacity, there may be options that rise above the tourist's head.

Provision should be made for additional features and pockets. It is good if there are special fasteners and elastic bands for tying foams, for carrying a bottle of water.

Characteristics to be guided by when choosing a backpack:

  • the material from which the lining and outer layer are made must be moisture resistant and durable, synthetic options are well suited;
  • additional protection from moisture and snow - a case with an elastic band, which is put on a briefcase;
  • the presence of stiffeners - required condition for tourist models, since it is required to shape a rather large product;
  • additional sealing of the bottom, several seams for strength - important, since the pressure on the bottom is the highest;
  • volume: for a man - up to 120 liters, for a woman - up to 80 liters;
  • An expedition backpack may not be light due to its size, but its design can be thought out so that it will not actually be felt when worn, so trying it on before buying.

What you need to take with you on a hike from your wardrobe

It depends on the time of year and the duration of the event. We offer a set for three days of a summer outing:

  • sun hat;
  • bathing suit;
  • 3 pairs of underwear;
  • socks - thin and a pair of woolen ones for spending the night;
  • shorts and a T-shirt, a changeable jacket - for the warm season;
  • sweatpants or comfortable jeans with a windbreaker or sweater - for evenings;
  • slippers;
  • sneakers.

If, according to the weather forecast, it is planned to rain, then it is worth taking raincoats. The list will change if the trip has certain specifics, for example, for climbing a mountain, you will need to additionally buy trekking boots, thermal underwear and equipment.

Comfortable walking shoes

For long hikes, choose a sneaker with the following qualities:

  • good shock absorption;
  • non-slip protector;
  • breathable fabric;
  • hard noses.

What you can take with you on a hike for orientation in the terrain - features of the compass

Knowing the side of the world is necessary for any route, even if it is already familiar to you. It is worth focusing not on memory and changeable nature, but on a device for travelers. It is better to choose it in a durable case to exclude mechanical damage.

You also need to take a card. It is better to have a paper one with you, but you can also use an electronic one. The necessary systems will track your geolocation, which will greatly help when navigating the terrain. But the gadget may run out of power or lose connection, and the compass and map will remain with you.

Camping fees: collecting water

You need to take clean liquid at the rate of 2-2.5 liters per day per person. This figure includes both drinking and tea, and even making soup, porridge. If there are no planned stops nearby where you can replenish stocks, then it is better not to risk and not take less, since a lot of moisture is consumed while driving - the thirst will be constant.

If you just decided to have a picnic - one-day or overnight - in one place, then you should take any spacious container from which it will be convenient to pour water. For example, five-liter bottles. In the case of gathering on a hike, you need more convenient devices - soft containers with a dispenser that can be fastened to a backpack.

Be aware of needs such as maintaining hygiene, washing dishes. If there is no reservoir nearby, then additional supplies are needed for this.

First aid kit

What medication is needed for the hike:

  • bandages, cotton wool, tourniquets, plasters - everything is sterile;
  • iodine, brilliant green, hydrogen peroxide;
  • pain reliever, better than two types - the usual one in tablets and the strong one for relieving acute pain in fractures in solutions for injections;
  • for digestion - from diarrhea, constipation;
  • antipyretic;
  • ointment for burns.

If you have chronic illnesses, be sure to take your medication for them.

Food and kitchen utensils

You can take disposable tableware and cutlery. If you are planning a soup, then you definitely need a ladle. Don't forget knives, cutting boards. For barbecue - grill and skewers.

Each menu is made individually, you can take:

  • cereals;
  • seasonings;
  • canned food;
  • vegetables and fruits.

Avoid products with short term shelf life and storage conditions in the refrigerator. For a light snack, you can purchase nutritious fruit sticks from the NEOFRUIT company. It contains only natural ingredients - fruits and nuts.

Such a simple delicacy will not only appeal to both children and adults, but also perfectly satisfies hunger during physical exertion (for example, long hikes) and tones the body. You can order a whole package of "cosmonaut sweets" on the Tovarik website.

Personal hygiene items for hiking in the woods

You will need:

  • toothbrush and paste;
  • soap;
  • shampoo - if you are leaving for more than one day;
  • toilet paper;
  • wet wipes;
  • towel.

Technics

Be sure to take a cell phone - you need it as a means of communication in case urgent need... Do not discharge it unnecessarily. You can take a charger with a battery to it.

You can put a camera. But it is important that it is small and not very heavy.

Accommodation accessories

For a comfortable overnight stay, it is better to purchase:

  • tent;
  • sleeping bag;
  • rug or foam.

When choosing, focus on the lightness and compactness of all things. Nowadays, many products are created on the basis of fleece - thin, but warm blankets literally fit into the palm of your hand. The same trend has affected sleeping bags. They are slightly more expensive than classic sleeping bags, but they are very convenient to take with you on hiking tours.

The tent must be taken with an additional cover against rain and condensation, morning dew.

Household part

In addition to the listed individual equipment, things are needed to organize a common life during outdoor recreation. These are the following items:

  • an ax - it will come in handy when making a fire, when equipping a camp;
  • ropes, twine - an important element to hang wet washed things, dry something, build a canopy;
  • flashlights and floodlights with a good battery - professional-grade lighting fixtures.

Get ready for the hike in advance and follow our recommendations, then you will not lose sight of anything.

Hiking in the forest requires careful preparation, especially for inexperienced hikers. In addition to moral, physical fitness, the presence of willpower and stress resistance, you must have equipment complete with everything you need, including for an emergency. If you prepare well, going to the forest will bring only positive emotions. You can learn more about how to prepare for the hike so that only pleasant impressions remain from it.

Preparing for a trip to the forest

First, you need to decide on the purpose of a multi-day trip to nature, as well as a place. Inexperienced tourists are not recommended to make their first excursion into nature too far from home. Preparation consists of preliminary drawing up of the route, familiarization with the map of the terrain of the designated point. At the same time, it is advisable to plan the daily routine so that, for example, you do not end up in the middle of a swampy area when you need to prepare for an overnight stay. In case of unforeseen circumstances, you need to develop an additional route with detours in advance. This will come in handy if there are debris, avalanches or road repairs on the paved path.

To organize the marching group and create discipline, you need to choose the "senior" - the most experienced participant who will be responsible for the entire group, make decisions when unforeseen circumstances arise. It will help the group members to navigate to successfully complete the route.

Not every place can be reached free of charge or on foot. If you plan to travel without using personal transport, you need to take money, documents, tickets, insurance policies with you.

Also, in case of unforeseen circumstances, you must leave the contact details of all participants in the tourist group and detailed information about the planned route to relatives or other trusted person. It is better to leave a copy of the map with the movement plan.

Going on a forest hike, you need to have at least an idea of the animals that live there, at the maximum - to subtract detailed information about them on the Internet. It will not be superfluous to know information about snakes and animals dangerous to humans, as well as the rules for first aid.

After the participants of the hike are mentally prepared, they need to collect the necessary equipment in the forest.

The most important must-haves on the hike are a tent, a backpack, a sleeping bag, a foam camping mat, and a piece of foam to sit on. Of course, we shouldn't forget about the compass and the map. The rest of the equipment for hiking in the forest is listed below.

  • Clothes and footwear

You need to prepare for any weather. Shoes must be comfortable and durable. It is best to wear boots that tie securely at the ankle. If you do not plan to climb into a dense thicket, you can wear ordinary sneakers or sneakers. Clothing must provide protection against insects, in particular ticks. Therefore, a headdress must be present. Clothing should be light enough to fit into a backpack without creating unnecessary weight. Depending on the season, thermal underwear will come in handy. A raincoat is an irreplaceable thing when hiking. It must be strong so that it does not break from the branches. You don't need to take a lot of things with you, only what you are wearing and a couple of spare things, as well as clothes for spending the night (thermal underwear will help) will be useful. It is desirable that the clothes are bright and noticeable.

  • Hygiene

These and some other things can be taken individually or distributed among the group members. Be sure to take toilet paper with you (the more, the better), which is a universal thing, soap, toothpaste and a brush. Dishwashing liquid will come in handy. It is not necessary to take shampoo, soap replaces it well. Instead of a towel, it is better to take a sheet - it is light, large, it can be torn into several towels or used as a dressing material. An elastic band for hair, tweezers, a sewing kit can come in handy in the most unexpected situations.

  • Food

You need to take with you dry rations, salt, sugar, pepper, soda, packaged in small bags. The rest of the food is distributed among the group members, its composition is selected depending on the duration of the trip. The main thing is that it is not perishable.

The canister of water can be carried in turns, or distributed among the participants in the hike. During the hike, 5-7 liters or more of clean water will be useful. In case of a shortage of it, you need to take filters for water purification. KLMN set - a mug, spoon, bowl, knife, if possible, better made of iron. It is durable, iron dishes can be put on fire. The bowler hat is attached to the backpack so as not to take up a lot of space.

  • Medicines

Will definitely come in handy: bandage (elastic and regular) or gauze, cotton pads or tampons, remedies for heartburn, nausea, pain relievers. You also need an adhesive plaster, Activated carbon, hydrogen peroxide, antibiotics, aspirin, iodine. In addition, we must not forget about individual preparations. Don't forget about tick and mosquito repellent.

  • Tools and other items

Essential for a hike: matches soaked in paraffin, lighters (several in different places), a hunting knife, a flashlight with batteries, a piece of plexiglass, a mirror, a lighter (you can make tinder). In addition, you always need candles, self-tapping screws, a screwdriver, pliers, a hacksaw. If space permits, you can take a small ax. Fishing equipment can come in handy in other situations as well. And of course, it will always save in extreme situation miniature NAZ, the configuration and size of which can be selected individually.

What better way than going camping with good company? Fresh air, picturesque nature, night gatherings by the fire under the stars, with the onset of warmth, begin to attract all hikers. Experienced tourists always know what to take with them on a hike, but beginners have many questions about this. How to properly carry out the training camp so as not to forget anything you need and at the same time not to collect unnecessary things? Preparing for a hike is a whole science. Having mastered it, any tourist will be able to collect his backpack and go on an exciting journey in a matter of minutes.

Backpack

When planning an outing into the mountains, a river or into the forest, it is imperative to make a list of the necessary things for the hike. It may vary depending on the season, the length of the route and the duration of the trip. But there are items that a tourist will need on any trip. The first place among them is occupied by a backpack. We can say that it is with him that any hike begins, because he is home to all the necessary things. You need to buy a backpack competently. It must be roomy, waterproof, have a hard bottom, a compacted back and reliable belts that will not cut into the shoulders during the hike. Men should choose backpacks with a volume of 80-100 liters, and for women the best option will have a capacity of up to 60 liters. Ideally, after it is assembled, there should be some more free space in it. If the backpack turns out to be insufficiently voluminous, then things that will not fit into it will have to be fastened outside, and this will create additional inconvenience during the hike.

Tent

Those who think that the backpack is the most necessary thing in the hike, they are wrong. An equally important element of tourist equipment, without which one cannot go on long hiking trips, is a tent. You will need it at any time of the year. The main criteria that you should pay attention to when choosing a tent are lightness (after all, you will need to carry it with you) and water resistance (to protect against rain). It will be good if it turns out to be equipped with mosquito nets. If a hike into the mountains is planned, then the tourist lodge must additionally have a high degree of resistance to strong winds. The tents differ in their dimensions. How more people it can fit in, the larger and, accordingly, the heavier it will be. If a lot of people go on a hike, then instead of one large tent, it is better to take several double ones with you - they weigh a little and are easier to carry. Attach the tents from the outside to the bottom of the backpack.

Sleeping bag

When packing for a hike, you should not forget about sleeping bag... In summer, the tourist will comfortably spend the nights in a light and thin sleeping bag. If a person is used to going on hikes at any time of the year, then he will need a universal sleeping bag designed for temperatures from -12 to +20 degrees Celsius: the traveler will feel comfortable in it regardless of the weather conditions. The sleeping bag, like the tent, is attached from the outside to the bottom of the backpack.

Rug-mat

The list of things for the hike must be supplemented with karemat. Unlike ordinary rugs, it does not allow moisture to pass through and retains heat, so it can be safely laid on the ground during halts or gatherings around the fire. In hot weather, you can sleep on the mat. It is also convenient to lay out your things on it.

Hiking first aid kit

The first necessities do not end there. Putting the essentials in a backpack on a hike, you need to remember about a first-aid kit. It includes medical devices and medicines that a person should always have at hand. These include:

  • hydrogen peroxide;
  • cotton wool;
  • bandage (sterile and non-sterile);
  • antiseptics (brilliant green, iodine);
  • repellent against mosquitoes and other insects;
  • antipyretic and pain relievers (paracetamol, aspirin, ibuprofen);
  • sorbents (smecta, activated carbon);
  • potassium permanganate;
  • sunscreen.

The first-aid kit is supplemented with drugs that the traveler has to take constantly or periodically (for example, pressure pills).

Matches, ax, dishes

While listing the essentials for the campaign, one cannot fail to mention the means for producing fire, without which one cannot do without the benefits of civilization. These are the lighter. You will also need dry alcohol packaging and old newspapers.

A small hatchet will not be superfluous. He will help out if the need arises to chop wood for the fire. Together with the ax, you need to put a skein of strong, but not very thick rope in your backpack.

You cannot do without dishes during the hike. An indispensable set of a tourist is a bowl, a cup, a spoon and a folding knife. Do not take disposable dishes with you, as they quickly deteriorate. The plate and cup should be unbreakable, preferably metal. Can't do a long journey without plastic bottle in 1.5-2 liters. It is convenient to draw water from a spring into it. For cooking, you should stock up on two pots of different sizes: the smaller one should be used for brewing tea, and the large one will be needed for porridge or stew.

You need to think in advance about what the tourists will eat during the hike. It is most convenient to take with you on a long journey food products that do not spoil (canned food, cereals, crackers). Be sure to grab tea bags and salt.

Cloth

Everyone chooses clothes for the hike individually, taking into account the weather. But there is a list of things that a tourist cannot do without during a trip. If a person goes to then he will need:

  • loose sports pants;
  • shorts or breeches;
  • shirt made of lightweight fabric with long sleeves;
  • several T-shirts, underpants and T-shirts;
  • swimming trunks, swimsuit;
  • warm pants and jacket;
  • 2-3 pairs of socks made of natural material (plain and woolen);
  • cap, scarf or bandana;
  • windbreaker jacket;
  • comfortable footwear (sneakers, sneakers, rubber slippers, trekking sandals);
  • Sunglasses.

All things should be made of natural materials and breathable well.

In the winter season, instead of light clothing need to take warm jackets and pants, woolen sweaters, hats, gloves, non-slip leather shoes on the natural fur, thermal underwear.

Others and adaptations

In the backpack, you need to allocate space for personal hygiene items (soap, toothpaste and brushes, napkins, combs, a few small towels).

In order to navigate the terrain well, tourists will need maps, route diagrams, and a compass. Today, all of these items are more often replaced by one GPS navigation device. Taking with you to the miracle of technology, you can not be afraid to get lost in unfamiliar places.

The tourist will also need a passport or other identity document and money for unforeseen expenses during the hike. They need to be hidden so that they are in a safe place, but if necessary, they can be easily found by their owner.

The traveler will need and mobile phone... Before the hike, the account on it will need to be replenished with a sufficient amount. If the hiking trip is planned for for a long time, then it does not hurt to take a portable charger with you, with which you can charge your mobile phone away from the mains.

Taking all the essentials on a hike, you should put a flashlight in your backpack. Best of all, if it is a model that is attached to the forehead. It is convenient to use such a flashlight to illuminate your road in the dark, and in case of danger, to give signals with its help. It is imperative to take a set of spare batteries with it.

To prevent bad weather from spoiling your trip, you must not forget about a waterproof cape. It will take up very little space in your backpack, and the benefits from it, if it suddenly starts to rain, will be invaluable.

No matter how much you want to take more things with you, you need to remember the main rule of a tourist: you should take only the most necessary things on a hike. A fully assembled backpack for a male traveler should not weigh more than 20 kg, and for a woman - 15 kg.

Have a nice rest!

Life hack # 1 - how to buy good insurance

It is unrealistically difficult to choose insurance now, therefore, to help all travelers. To do this, I constantly monitor forums, study insurance contracts and use insurance myself.

Let's make a reservation right away that this article is for novice tourists who are going on their first hikes. We are talking about a group hike from 2 to 14 days in the forest or uncomplicated mountains. We will not touch on the topic of water, ski, winter and sports trips - there are nuances and a rigid list of mandatory equipment. Who is too lazy to read - the list at the end of the article lies.

Equipment

The most basic thing that you need to take with you to the forest, even for one overnight stay, is a tourist backpack, tent, sleeping bag and rug (foam, cushion). Backpack must be tourist, have height adjustment, a wide belt for transferring weight from the shoulders to the pelvis, a rigid back. The volume for uncomplicated hikes is from 50 to 100 liters.

You shouldn't buy a backpack right away - take it from friends or rent it, especially if it's your first hikes. Then, after gaining experience, buy yourself a suitable one. For a backpack, you need to take a protective rain cover.

Tent usually take for 2-4 people. I will not go into the topic, just note that you should not buy the cheapest single-layer tent in a hypermarket. Better rent or buy from a travel store. The optimal weight of the tent is from 2 to 4 kg. The water resistance of the awning and the floor of the tent should not be less than 3000 mm h.c. (indicated on the tent).

Sleeping bag... The most important thing is that the temperatures match the conditions of the hike. In mountainous areas, there are frosts and low temperatures even in summer (for example, near glaciers and passes), so take a sleeping bag with a margin. Focus on the temperature of comfort, not extreme (it is indicated on the bags).

When we were in Altai in July, the temperature reached +2 degrees, so it was warm in the sleeping bag comfortably at 0 degrees.

Mat you can choose any (from the assortment of the tourist store). Better to take 2 or 3 layers. Thin rugs wear out quickly and do not heat well. Multilayers better isolate the cold from the ground. Also, do not forget to take a seat (hoba, popper, podzhopnik) - it is very convenient to sit on it on halts and in the camp, it is also useful to fan the fire.

Lamp... In tourism, headlamps are preferred. They are comfortable, small and do not need to be handled. Do not forget to take a supply of batteries for the entire hike, considering that you will be using the flashlight for about 1-2 hours a day.

Camp organization

A camp or bivouac usually requires quite a lot of public equipment. If you plan to eat on a fire (and the fire itself), you need a small saw(you can chain compact), hatchet(up to 1 kg in weight) and kindling... Do not take paper, it does not burn. For kindling, it is ideal to take birch bark, dry fuel (dry alcohol tablets), paper soaked in paraffin. Matches and lighters can be taken with a small supply.

Used for cooking burner on petrol or gas. Fuel supply, of course, should correspond to the days. One 220 gram gas cylinder is enough for about 1.5-2 hours of cooking. Public equipment includes tableware... We take two pots - for food and for tea. For 4 people, 2 pots of 1.5-2 liters are enough. For cooking over a fire, you may need a fire rope (but you can do without it).

Personal set of dishes: spoon / fork, bowl, mug... You can take from plastic or stainless steel. No ceramic, glass, or enamel plates or glasses! Not everyone should take a hunting knife - take a small pocket knife.

And don't forget about simple household gloves always come in handy. We still take an empty plastic 1.5 liter bottle or a light flask- collect water from springs for drinking on the route.

Personal equipment

If more experienced comrades or organizers help to assemble public equipment, then the personal equipment remains at the discretion of the participant himself. This includes clothing, shoes, personal first aid kit, hygiene products.

Cloth

In tourism, the principle of layering and the use of lightweight fabrics prevails. All clothing can be divided into 4 layers:

  • 1 layer - thermal underwear... Summer thermal underwear is completely synthetic, fits the body tightly and is needed to wick moisture away in time. On a hike, we sweat a lot and wet clothes are a fast way to colds. Thermal underwear dries very quickly and is also very lightweight. The set consists of pants and a T-shirt (long or short sleeves).
  • 2nd layer - thermal underwear for insulation... Forget the wool sweater and scarf, go for fleece. Fleece clothing is very warm, lightweight and dries quickly. Set: pants and jacket. Polartec is a better quality fleece. But the meaning is the same.
  • 3 layer - running suit... Windproof and waterproof. One or two layers (depending on the weather) are lightweight pants and jackets that provide protection from rain and wind. At the same time, it is very important that the clothes have breathability. The best way- membrane clothing. Or light synthetic suits (avisent, nylon, taffetta, oxford) and raincoats separately. Although the first option is more convenient and comfortable.
  • 4th layer - insulation in the camp or in bad weather. If you go to the mountains at the end of summer, it is worth bringing with you a lightweight down jacket... There are such special models with low weight, which when folded take up a minimum of space. In the Crimea and the Southern Urals, such a down jacket will not come in handy, but in the Altai mountains or in the Elbrus region - very much even.
Nothing complicated: if it's cold, put on all the layers, and if it's hot, remove the excess. These clothes take up little space and are lightweight.

Don't forget to stock up on underwear and socks. It is better to buy tracking socks as well - they sit better on the foot, protecting from calluses. They have a compression effect. Additionally, you need to take a cap or a head buff, sunglasses, gloves. And for sleep, you need to take insulating socks made of wool or fleece and a hat - at night these parts of the body often freeze, a lot of heat goes through them.

Shoes

Probably the most difficult element of the hike. Trekking boots and trainers should be preferred for summer hikes in rough terrain. Choose tall models that protect your ankle from dislocation. The outsole should have a pronounced tread and hold firmly on the terrain.

Legs must be protected from stone blows, injuries and moisture. The best option is membrane shoes. Or good, durable shoes (leather or nubuck). Ordinary sneakers can be suitable for easy hikes in the summer for 2-3 days.

Most importantly, the boots must be well worn before the hike. Shoes should be comfortable, the size is a little more than city shoes by 0.5-1 cm.

As additional footwear, light slippers or trekking sandals are taken to the camp. They can also be useful for passing the fords. After a day's walking, the legs in basic shoes get very tired. You can use lightweight sneakers instead of slippers.

Personal hygiene and repair kit

I always include in the list: nail scissors, comb (small), wet wipes, antiseptic gel, liquid soap approximately 100 ml in a package, a paste and a brush (no need to take a full tube), toilet paper, a small microfiber towel and a swimsuit (if you plan to park on the lakes).

There is always a place for water procedures on the route. Girls definitely need to take a kit in case of sudden menstruation. The body is stressed during the hike and surprises happen.

I would include a skein of thin rope (4 mm, 10 meters), thread with a needle, scotch tape or electrical tape, some shoe glue in the repair kit, in case clothes, backpack or boots break. In general, one repair kit is usually taken for the whole group, a responsible person is appointed.

I always take with me

Of course, . Convenient, useful and can come in handy in difficult situation... Your feet will thank you! But if there are no sticks, you can pick up a wooden counterpart on the route.

Mosquito net to protect the face (there are options with caps and hats). Insects can be quite annoying on a hike and spoil the whole experience. Not necessary.

Leggings, they are flashlights, they are leggings. Leggings - additional protection of feet from getting wet. Do not allow water to flow through the top of the shoe, protect in tall grass, protect clothing from accidental damage.

First aid kit... Read more about the composition. Also, don't forget tick and mosquito repellents.

Compass and paper maps of the area... Don't rely on electronics. Count on your head. Naturally, it is better to practice orienteering in advance, but knowing where and why you are going, and how it looks on the map is a must!

Passport, compulsory medical insurance policy and a small supply of money in case of emergency... It is also worth writing down the numbers of local rescuers and the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the phone. Documents, money and a card must be sealed in order not to get wet!

Whistle and fire in case of meeting with wild animals.

If you wish, you can take additional things: a camera, ukulele, games, a notebook, as long as your backpack is reasonably heavy. Ideally, the weight of a hiking backpack without special equipment with food should be within 15 - 24 kilograms (depending on the length of the route). Therefore, it is important to give preference to light and modern equipment.

And what to eat on a hike and how to prepare an easy layout (up to 600 grams per person per day), read in. All beautiful routes and safe hikes!
