Childbirth

Slavic doll-amulet Ryabinka

The strongest amulet for your home from all undesirable, negative. Preserver of love and health in your home. Placed opposite or next to the front door. The Rowan doll is called a Warrior against all manifestations of evil. The basis of the doll is a mountain ash stick.

Rowan doll is a symbol of female wisdom, motherhood, home. It is associated with a rowan tree. In the old days, the mountain ash tree was treated with great reverence and did not break in vain, they knew about its protective properties. The tree's name days were celebrated four times a year. In the fall, on the fourth name day, when the fruits ripened (September 1), as a sign of reverence for her as a talisman, they made a large festive Ryabinka doll with children.

And the mountain ash tree has such properties as relieving depression, removing damage and the evil eye, protection from the energies of the dead world.

Rowan protects true love from misfortunes and troubles. She is the strongest guardian of family happiness in the house. The mountain ash keeps the bitter fire of love in its berries. This tree is able to ignite the flame of a true sense of selflessness in the hearts of people.

Since ancient times in Russia, the branch of this flexible and, in general, not the most powerful tree, in the eyes of an ignorant person, has been a symbol of Perun's club. Rowan is the berry of Perun, the god of thunder. Since mountain ash is a warrior tree, it protects true love from misfortunes and troubles. Its ripe bunches were and are used as amulets from the dirty deeds of others during a wedding and as a guardian of family happiness in the house. To do this, small branches of mountain ash (always with ripe, bright fruits) are simply placed on the window.

As long as the berries are red, the branch will not lose its strength - no trouble will pass into the house that can tear loving hearts apart.

The Ryabinka doll is one of the most beloved among folk dolls. She bewitches with her femininity, soulfulness and some kind of invisible strength. Much has been said about the meaning and essence of this doll, but this one looks different for each craftswoman, and this is great! After all, there are no templates and standards in creativity.

1. Necessary materials for our doll:

2. To begin with, we will make three twists of dense fabric, thicker for the body and two twists for the legs (insert a rowan stick inside, into the legs too).

We shape the legs. Bend two cm from the bottom of the tightly twisted roll and tie it tightly. It turns out a stop, we do not tear off the thread.

We wrap the entire leg. We leave enough thread to tie the leg to the body at the same time to secure the twist of the body.

3. Now connect these twists together with a thread. And we will put on the legs little shoes. You can tie them yourself.

4. On the edge of a thick twist, place a piece of cotton wool and use a white cloth to shape the face. We start all excess fabric back.

5. Now let's start creating the hands. Let's start with the palms. Let's fold small squares of white fabric almost like airplanes.

6. Place our palm on the front side of the fabric for the sleeve as shown in the photo.

9. We turn it out and get the handle.

Not so long ago on the pages of "Cross" we talked about why our Slavic ancestors created amulets dolls. Here we will show in more detail each bereginya doll, we will tell you why and how to make it with your own hands.

Bird of joy

Bird of joy- a ritual doll that was used to attract Spring. For Spring to come, at the beginning of March married women, who were the main characters in the rite, and young girls put on bright outfits and went to the edge of the village to call for spring. They wore hats in the form of birds, decorated with fur edges and feathers, that is, the women themselves appeared in the form of birds, since they believed that Spring flies on the wings of a bird.

There was even such a sign - if a bird sits on a woman's head, arm or shoulder, then it will be accompanied by good luck and happiness all year.

This doll gives a woman a sense of her destiny and attractiveness. It is made on a birch log.

Tatyana Bereznaya shows a master class on making a "Bird-Joy" reeled doll:

Doll-Veduchka or Leading to life

Bucket was always made by a woman who wanted to be a good mother, always wanted to understand what her child wants and to raise him correctly. This doll has a special structure: the hands of the mother and the child are a single whole. This twist symbolizes unity, close connection, love and closeness of mother and child.

Mom needs to make a Veduchka doll for her child herself, with her own hands, so that the amulet has more strength and protects him more reliably. And any mother who has at least initial sewing skills can make such a doll.

Folk Motanka Doll VEDUCHKA can be made according to a master class from the channel 4preschool:

Overcome-Grass

Protective doll Overcome-Grass carries with him a special sign of the Sun - a solar symbol.

All sun signs are believed to be very strong defenders. Therefore, our ancestors respectfully treated this amulet! It is also called the Double Fire Sign, which is a very important and most important Slavic talisman, because it protects a person from all kinds of diseases and misfortunes. The Slavs dedicated the Odolen-Grass amulet to God Svarog and Radunitsy.

The effect of the amulet increases at a time when a child laughs or some good deeds are done. It was believed that the Odolen-Grass doll is capable of warding off "evil charm" from a person, in this regard, there has always been a special attitude towards him in Russia!

To enhance the action of the "Odolen-Grass" amulet, they say:

"Guardian Overcome-Grass, help to overcome evil people so that they do not think badly of me, so that they do not want evil, do not do evil! Slavic amulet Odolen-Grass, help avert all sidelong glances, bad words, and also bad deeds! "

Egg-herbalist

Egg-herbalist- a healing amulet doll that helps to purify the air in the house and to prevent diseases. Usually it was placed in that part of the house where the air was stagnant, or hung over a cradle. Before going to bed, it was necessary to wrinkle a bag of herbs in order to fill the room with aroma, and then the air would become healing and everyone would sleep better.

The body of the Herbal Kubyshka itself is actually a bag filled with medicinal herbs. The use of the capsule depends on the herbs with which the bag is filled.

For example, if you want the pupa to have a calming effect, fill it with fresh sawdust, bark, pine needles and buckwheat or motherwort, lemon balm and chamomile.

Doll-Krupenichka and the Rich Man

Slavic dolls-amulets Krupenichka and Rich man bring abundance to the family. Pupa-Krupenichka is also called Zernushka, Zernovushka or Goroshinka. Krupenichka looks simple, but it has a large symbolic meaning, therefore, she has the status of "the main doll in the house."

For the ancient Slavs, the main type of food was porridge, which, as they believed, gave "powerful vitality", therefore, the process of growing grain was given great value... So when sowing grain, the first grains were taken from the pouch of this pupa, since they had the meaning of "the saved forces of the Earth's Nurse."

The Slavs believed that since the land gives (gives birth) a crop, it means that the image that this crop gives is female. So Krupenichka is more important, and the Rich Man is at her aid.

Initially, in the manufacture of Krupenichka, flax or burlap was used, and buckwheat grain was poured inside. And it was very much appreciated because it was rare and the attitude towards it was special. Then, towards the end of the 19th century, they began to fill Krupenichka with millet, wheat and peas. Hence the names Zernovushka and Goroshinka appeared.

After the new harvest ripened, the pupa was again filled with fresh grain, dressed up and placed in the Red Corner or in the kitchen, but always in a prominent place. Krupenichek was always given to guests or allowed to play for children, because they believed that what more people hold it, the more energy the grain inside the pupa will be saturated with and then next year for the family will pass in abundance, they will be lucky and hunger will not befall. Also, charmed coins could be put into dolls.

Channel DelkiRu shows how to make a rag doll Krupenichka (Zernovushka) based on Slavic folk dolls:

Russian Baba Yaga

Baba Yaga always associated with evil and deceit, an evil witch who lives in a deep forest. But this is not the case! Baba Yaga is a good helper and intelligent counselor. She will always tell you where to find living water or the Firebird, how to protect yourself from enemies or find loyal friends.

Baba Yaga can be a very good amulet and keeper of the hearth. It is hung on windows or doors as a talisman at home. As they say, she “lets her in, but sweeps away the others,” that's why they make it with a broom or a broom.

In Russia, the mountain ash tree was treated with great reverence, just like the Mother! They never broke the mountain ash just like that, because they knew what strong protective qualities it had.

Therefore, the existence in Russia of such a amulet doll as Pock... She symbolizes motherhood, female wisdom, home, is a talisman of family happiness, keeping true love from misfortune.

The Ryabinka doll celebrated its name day 4 times a year, and it was made only when the fruits ripened - in the fall, on the fourth name day. A person, not knowing the true power of the mountain ash, a flexible and small tree, sees in its branch a symbol of Perun's club (mountain ash is the berry of the thunder god Perun.).

The amulet doll will have magical properties if it is made on a cross from rowan twigs.

She will be able to remove depression or damage from the evil eye, protect from the energy of the dead world. To do this, the mountain ash needs to be hung opposite or near the front door - like a warrior, it will protect and will not let the negative into the house.

Channel DelkiRu shares a master class on creating a Ryabinka rag doll:

Well-being fills the house with joy, brings prosperity and well-being into it, blocks the penetration of evil forces. If you want to give this amulet, then give it with wishes of well-being.

The doll must be made in one day, the process cannot be transferred to the next.

And inside the pupa, you need to put a coin with the number 5, because it is 5 that is the number of well-being in numerology.

Kolyada is an ancient Slavic holiday of the Winter Solstice, also called the holiday of the Birth of the Sun. It began 3 days after the winter solstice and lasted until the end of the winter Christmas time.

On the eve of the holiday, the ritual doll Kolyada was made, as a symbol of well-being, the fulfillment of the desired, happiness, and, moreover, a talisman against evil forces. It was believed that "God Kolyada comes into the world with light and good, defeating evil and darkness." The fate of Kolyada could be different - she was either left for one year as a talisman, or burned on the last day of Christmas.

The carols were made only from new fabric and on a birch log. Birch is a tree that symbolizes light, femininity and purity, protects from the evil eye and heals melancholy. Kolyada is holding 2 bags - the first with grain, the other with salt. These are symbols of goodness, prosperity and fertility.

Ten-pen- a great assistant in household chores. Women or girls made a ten-hand to add strength in housekeeping. The doll was often given as a wedding present to brides, and if the woman was already married, then it was presented on the Filippovka holiday, which was celebrated on November 27. At the same time, they wished the hostesses to be in time everywhere and in everything without unnecessary expenditure of energy, figuratively speaking, having 10 hands.

The ten-handed doll was made for the holiday of the Intercession, by October 14. They made it from bast bast, red threads, multi-colored ribbons and flax in strands. At the bottom, on the hem of the sundress, 9 bows of red threads were necessarily tied. A ten-handle could be made of straw or bast and then they called it Split.

When women made a doll, they really hoped for her help, so they put their soul, their intentions, secrets and energy into it. Consequently, the process took on special significance.

Until the doll is finally ready, do not let go of it, do not break away from the manufacturing process, and it is not even recommended to have conversations with anyone at this time! And when the Ten-Handle is ready, read a prayer over it and leave it under the icon overnight.

This doll helped not only at home, but also in the field. They even took her to the church to cleanse all the negativity accumulated in her. At home, the Ten-Handler was planted where the hostess was most often. It was never given into the hands of strangers, and children were never allowed to play with it.

Swaddling Dolls

Swaddling clothes- these are protective dolls for the little ones. They were always put in the cradle of the baby, so that the doll would protect from diseases and the evil eye. They also helped women with childbirth.

The diaper, like any amulet doll, has no face. The Slavs believed that if a doll has its own face, then it can only take care of itself, and when the doll is faceless, it protects everyone living in the house, the house itself or a specific person for which the chrysalis was made.

The diaper is a doll wrapped in a diaper with a scarf and a swivel belt. Since ancient times, all children have been swaddled with a swaddler, this had both practical and protective significance.

Women made Swaddling clothes in the last weeks of pregnancy, with positive thoughts about their future child and immediately put her in a cradle so that the doll would live in and warm her.

The size of the diaper is such that it fits easily in a child's handle. To create the doll, they used a piece of worn-out clothing made of fabric made at home and storing the warmth of an adult, and such fabric could also provide generic protection. No scissors or needles were used in the manufacture so as not to injure the doll.

There is a belief that before the baptism of a newborn, one needs to be protected from evil spirits, and the Pelenashka must take upon itself all the bad things that can harm the baby.

Having put the Diaper in the cradle, you need to say:
"Sleepiness is insomnia, do not play with my child, play with this doll."

And when relatives and friends came to look at the child, the doll was placed in the folds of a handkerchief.

Leaving, the guests said to Pelenashka: "Oh, how good the doll is!"

After the child was baptized, the Swaddle was removed from the cradle and kept along with the baptismal robe.

Pupae Lovebirds

Lovebirds- a ritual wedding amulet doll, which has a great symbolic meaning. It is named that way because the doll is made as a whole. Both parts, man and woman, are inseparable, they have one common hand, as a symbol family union and one destiny. A doll is usually given for a wedding to newlyweds or already married couples, so that the family is stronger.

A special feature of Lovebirds is a common hand based on a long wooden torch. Made by her bridesmaids as a symbol of masculine and feminine principles.

Lovebirds are a talisman of a strong family and a symbol living together, they, as they say, go "hand in hand". In the same way, a wife and husband should always be one in any situation, whether in trouble or in joy.

To this day, there is a tradition to give Lovebirds for a wedding. They make lovebirds with their own hands and give them from the bottom of their hearts to an emerging family with the wishes to always be inseparable.

According to the ancient Russian tradition, lovebirds were hanged under the arc of the harness of horses, carrying the newlyweds to the groom's house from the church after the wedding. Our ancestors tirelessly believed that the fate of any person can be influenced by making him a similar figure, both in a negative and a positive sense. Therefore, special attention was certainly paid to the "wedding train". Outside the walls of their home, the newlyweds were considered especially vulnerable to all kinds of negative manifestations, such as envious glances or the tricks of evil sorcerers. The wedding train was run like this difficult paths, built with barriers to deceive all these evil spirits and cover their tracks.

The wood for making a splinter was selected carefully, not every tree is suitable for such a business. For example, they never took branches of alder or linden, because, as the Slavs believed, they were related to evil spirits. First, the female part is done, then the male part. Then they are attached to this torch, thereby securing their own position on the family tree. The dolls must have something in common in their clothes - the same pattern on the belts or color.

Lovebirds were not only kept in the Red Corner after the wedding, but also with the advent of the children, Martinchiks were added to them. The Martins were tied from bundles of white threads. Lovebirds were pushed apart in different directions and children were planted on a splinter between them. There were as many of them as there were children in the family.

Doll Spiridon-solstice

Spiridon-solstice- a ritual doll, which was made to achieve the desired changes in life. It was believed that Spiridon-Solstice, spinning the wheel that he holds in his hands, turns life in the desired direction.

Spiridon-Solstice is associated with the ancient Slavic god Svarog. It was believed that he created people and crafts, and is also the patron saint of family ties.

The wheel in his hands represents the Sun and has eight spokes. Thanks to the sun, which gives light and warmth, all living things exist and function. The Sun also gives everyone responsibility and punctuality, because it gives light to everyone in the same way and it always rises on time, and where there is responsibility, there will always be prosperity.

For a man, Spiridon is a good assistant in business, business and household. It is also given to motorists as a talisman. Spiridon-Solntsevorot helps keep the steering wheel tighter.

Spiridon helps a woman to seize the steering wheel of life with her own hands, to choose her own life path, to be "in the right place in due time", and also to achieve success in creativity and business.

Amulet dolls are considered to be the heritage of the past. But in fact, these special handmade amulets can serve us today. During pagan times, they were required attribute every Slavic house. Dolls were made for the holidays, important events and for other special reasons.

Slavic dolls, or as they were also called, lyalki, protected, helped to harvest, heal from diseases, strengthen the family. Many traditions related to the manufacture of these amulets and their use have survived to this day. Armed with this knowledge, you can apply it in your own life, changing it for the better.

Slavic dolls amulets appeared a very long time ago. Our forefathers believed that the World consists not only of human lands, but also the habitats of light and dark gods. They worshiped light gods, asked them for protection or fulfillment of desires, fearing dark ones. They were afraid not only of Chernobog, but also of his henchmen: strong demons, weaker spirits, people serving him - witches, sorcerers.

Offering prayers and bringing gifts to pagan deities, the Slavs additionally made various protective items. This is how the first doll appeared.

The folk doll amulet fulfilled different purposes - it brought prosperity to the house, attracted love, helped to conceive a child or protect loved ones from evil forces.

The history of the amulet doll in Russia began with the simplest materials at hand - tree branches or vines. Gradually, cloth began to be added to them, and over time, some of the pupae were made only of matter. During the days of paganism, many studied herbs. With their help, the Slavs healed, expelling diseases and evil spirits, prolonged youth. Therefore, such amulets were often stuffed with dried herbs, which enhanced its magical properties.

Experienced women who have seen a lot in their lifetime worked on them. Most often they were grandmothers-great-grandmothers, but sometimes the mothers of the family were engaged in the manufacture of amulets. It was strictly forbidden to interfere with them. The needlewoman had to concentrate completely on the process. It was necessary to make a doll at a time, without stretching this business into several stages.

Such amulets were treated with great respect and passed on by inheritance from mother to daughter.

Types of dolls in Russia

Some people still perceive dolls as ordinary toys, thinking that they will only work to entertain the child. Others treat them with great reverence, believing that toys help prepare a child to interact with society. And only a minority knows that lyalki used to act as magic items.

All Slavic dolls were divided into three types:

  • gaming;
  • ritual;
  • protective.

Each of these types had its own task and rules of use.

Play baby dolls

The Slavs made children's play dolls in the form of people, animals and even birds from a tree.

Children are considered the easiest to manufacture. Devoid of any magical background, they were designed to entertain and bring joy. The materials were chosen very different, but most often it was wood. They made these toys in the form of people, animals and even birds.

Ritual dolls in Russia

A scarecrow for Maslenitsa is a vivid example of a ritual doll among the Slavs.

This subspecies was made exclusively for a specific event. Not only for such important holidays as Maslenitsa or Ivan Kupala, but also for family celebrations. For example, childbirth. It is a painful and dangerous process that takes away the strength of the mother. Not capable of such important point to protect the child, a woman can shift this task to Kuvadki. On the wedding celebration the newlyweds also received ceremonial dolls, called Lovebirds, as a gift. Such a talisman strengthened love and helped preserve family happiness. Dolls for the holidays were usually decorated with special magic symbols - most often.

A protective doll or a Protective one can be of several types - individual or family. The first was done for a specific family member. Usually for a woman, because it is she who is responsible for the continuation of the family and therefore must be healthy. The second was made for the whole family. With her help, they defended themselves from the envy of neighbors, lovers and dark forces.

What are Slavic dolls made of

Slavic dolls were made from natural foundations. It could not be otherwise, because then there were no such artificial materials which are now. But even if they were, no one would have thought of using them to create talismans.

The Slavs respected and loved nature, and therefore believed that the natural basis would become the most the best choice for the amulet. She will transfer her power to him. For wearable ornaments that protect against all kinds of troubles, a tree was chosen. But they did not make protective dolls out of it - only children's toys.

Slavs preferred natural materials in the manufacture of amulets.

The Russian amulet doll was carried out by craftswomen in sewing, knitting or embroidery. Therefore, most often they used handicraft accessories for her: threads, ribbons, laces, beads, buttons. Sometimes a vine or tree branches.

In some cases, a special filler was added - ash, cereals or herbs. They selected it in accordance with the goal that they wanted to achieve. The seeds were hidden in a doll when they wanted to lure wealth - so that there was always food on the table. Ash - to ward off evil spirits, and herbs to purify energy or prevent disease.

Having decided to make a talisman with your own hands, do not rush with it. Think carefully about the purpose for which you need it, and then study the rules for its manufacture. This is a serious task that requires careful attention.

The most famous amulet dolls

The amulet doll was an important element of Slavic culture. They were placed in prominent places in the house, placed in a baby cradle, and sometimes carried with them. Having learned about what kind of Slavic dolls amulets are and what their meaning is, you can make one for yourself and your family, continuing the traditions of your ancestors.

Ash

The ash doll helps to protect the house from evil spirits, attracts well-being to it. The name of the amulet comes from the word "ash", because it was she who was used as a filler. A handful of ash from the oven was placed in a piece of cloth, from which a ball was then made - this was the head.

A distinctive feature of Ash is the complete absence of hair on the head. They didn't give her a headdress either. And passed on to future generations instead of burning.

The Herbal Egg helped purify the air in the house. They put it in places where energy stagnation was felt. If someone slept badly, then they left him for the night next to this person. The amulet spread a pleasant herbal aroma, which helps to normalize sleep.

They also used the herbalist to ward off illnesses - they hooked a child to the cradle. Unlike Ash, she was filled with special contents not her head, but her body.

Children are more vulnerable to evil than adults. To protect their descendants from darkness, the Slavs made Pelenashki dolls for children. Such amulets were placed directly in the cradle. They took illnesses and troubles away from babies, taking them for themselves.

The Lovebirds did not make the doll on their own. But they could be received as a gift for a wedding. It was given by close relatives - it could be mothers or grandmothers from the side of any of the newlyweds.

Lovebirds are easy to recognize by one conspicuous sign - the hands with which they hold each other are woven into one, which symbolizes a strong union. The amulet was carried out from different materials- straw, cloth or thread.

The meaning put into the Zhelannitsa doll can be easily guessed by its name. But do not rush to write out a dozen desires on a piece of paper. She can only fulfill one request. Therefore, it is better to focus on what is most important.

So that the Zhelanitsa understands what is required of her, after her creation, talk to her. Tell us in detail what you want to get. This should be done in front of the mirror. When the dream turns into reality, burn the amulet, and before destruction, thank for the good work.

Purifier

The purifier was used to heal physical ailments and ailments caused by evil spirits. She never acted as a talisman for the family - they made her especially for a sick person. He or his close relative had to mentally transfer everything bad to the subject during the creation of the doll.

Upon completion of work on it, a conspiracy was recited: "Let all the dashing leave me for you, take away the evil, someone else's"... Then it only remained to burn it away from home and the disease soon receded.

According to tradition, the Ten-Hand was given to young women who got married. She has ten hands for a reason. It was believed that such a talisman would help the young hostess to keep up with everything: to look after the children, to cook, to clean up.

The ten-handle was made only from straw. The head of the doll was decorated with a kerchief, and the body was decorated with an elegant apron. One of the primary colors was red, symbolizing vitality and prosperity.

Day Night, like Lovebirds, is hard to confuse with others. This is a double-sided amulet. You can do it in several ways: take two separate figures and fasten them back to back to each other. Or make one figurine with two front sides.

One side symbolizes day and the other - night. The main task of such a talisman is to keep track of the usual order of things. Day Night watches the change of day and night, looks to make the night for the inhabitants of the house as calm and favorable as the day. In the daytime, the face of the residents was turned to the daytime look, and in the dark - the nighttime one.

Bbw

The fat woman will be a good amulet for every woman who dreams of creating a full-fledged family. The BBW image is a growing up girl. Used it to help get pregnant. The Slavs believed that the doll's long braid helped to attract the soul of the child.

If, after a year of married life, a woman could not conceive an heir, relatives made such a talisman for her. It could only be done by relatives on the female side - mother, grandmother or great-grandmother, but not a sister.

The Slavs made amulets not only with the expectation of protecting the house, but also tried to protect relatives outside it. So they made amulets for travelers.

Plantain protected the person on the way. This was ensured by a special ritual associated with a small bag of Plantain. A handful of earth from their native lands was put into it - it was believed that this gives a person strength. In addition to her, grains or bread crumbs were added to the bag - thanks to this, the traveler never went hungry.

The Slavs believed that spring did not come by itself - it was brought on the wings of a bird. In order to quickly summon the flowering time, they made a special ritual doll - the Bird of Joy. She was covered from head to bottom with birds, symbolizing spring, good luck and happiness.

You need to make an odd number of birds, and one of them must be attached to the doll's head. They also tried to make a headdress, a kerchief in the shape of a bird - with wings on the sides and a beak on top.

Viduchka, or leading to life

The viduchka was made by women who knew the joy of motherhood. The continuation of the Family was considered one of the most important female tasks. The woman had to not only feed the child, feeding him with her juices, but also raise him.

Veduchka helped in this difficult task, supporting the mother and ensuring contact with the child. Outwardly, the amulet stood out from the rest - the figure there was not one, but two. Mother with a child. The hands of the woman and the baby are united, which meant a strong spiritual bond between them.

Krupenichka, also called Zernushka, helped feed the family. Not only in a figurative sense, but also literally. They did it after harvesting, filling a hidden inner bag with grain. When the family had nothing to eat, the women took grain out of it and let it go to dinner. They did this not only during the famine period, but regularly, replacing the old grain with new one.

Krupenichka was considered the main one in the pair, but the Rich Man accompanying her is also important. He helped financially. In fact, this pair of amulet is the image of a happy Slavic family - a skillful hostess and breadwinner of the family.

Baba Yaga

Many people associate Baba Yaga with an evil character, but in fact this is not entirely true. Even in folk tales that have come down to us, the old witch sometimes acts as an assistant, helping the heroes out of all sorts of troubles.

Baba Yaga is not only a good counselor - she can become the keeper of the hearth. She was hung on front door or on the windows of the house. So she swept away from the house with her broom all filth - visible and invisible.

Pock

One of the most revered trees among the Slavs was mountain ash. This influenced the emergence of such a talisman as the Ryabinka doll. It was made in the fall. The basis for Rowan was a cross made of real mountain ash - this made the amulet more powerful.

Such a talisman protected from evil, protected family happiness and maintained an atmosphere of love in the house.

The well-being was given to friends and relatives in order to bring prosperity and prosperity to their home. Wealth in this case is understood as wealth. But they wanted not so much money as what they could buy with it - food that filled the entire table, clothes for each family member, useful household items.

The successful woman was a reel with a mandatory attribute - a bag. This item symbolized success in business. What kind of business should be successful - the owner of the lyalka decided himself.

To become successful, tell the amulet directly about what you want to receive. For example, ask him about marriage or money. If you need financial support, put a bill in your purse.

The bell was good news. She not only warned of good news, but also attracted them. The owner of such a talisman was more often in a good mood, had more fun and received many joyful events from life. Bell is characterized by clothes of three skirts resembling a herringbone.

Spiridon Solstice belongs to a number of ritual dolls. They made it for the holiday. Such a talisman was made with a specific purpose - to bring change to life. But not any, but those that I would like to receive.

The wheel in the hands of Spiridon symbolized life. The Slavs believed that, thanks to him, you can turn life in the right, necessary, direction. Such an amulet will be equally useful for any gender and will bring happiness in any of the chosen areas.

Rules for making amulets dolls

Charm dolls cannot be made like ordinary toys. This is a much more serious matter, requiring not only taking into account the well-being of the craftswoman, but also the selection of materials, tools, and also the manufacturing method.

A protective doll should be made with positive thoughts and in a good mood.

Needlewomen, who decide to try on the amulet with their own hands, need to adhere to the following rules:

  • Work on the amulet only when you are in a good mood and well-being. Even a simple headache, not to mention chronic illnesses, is considered a good reason to postpone the robot.
  • During such a sacred handicraft, you need to think positively. Positive thoughts and emotions will help the amulet gain strength and quickly begin to complete its task.
  • Watch the lunar cycle as you get down to business. Talismans should be made for the growing moon.
  • You've probably noticed that all reels don't have a face. This is connected, of course, not with laziness, but with superstition. Our ancestors believed that dolls with the features of the owner could become a refuge for evil spirits. To protect themselves from it, they did not make faces for them, leaving them empty. This was done not only with the guardians and ritual dolls but also with toys.
  • When making rag dolls sharp objects must not be used. It will seem incredible for today's needlewomen to abandon needles and scissors, but these are the rules. Failure to observe them will turn the amulet into an ordinary object devoid of magical power.
  • Nowadays, natural fabrics are rarely used due to their impracticality. But the presence of synthetic materials in talismans is unacceptable.

The amulet doll, made in accordance with all Old Church Slavonic beliefs, will become a full-fledged protector and fill your life with all the blessings.

How to part with a doll amulet

Protective dolls cannot be made with bad thoughts, stored anywhere and thrown away like ordinary trash.

A protective doll is more than a regular children's toy. Such a doll requires a reverent attitude towards itself in all respects. It cannot be made with bad thoughts, stored anywhere and thrown away like ordinary trash.

Our ancestors passed home-made talismans from generation to generation, practically without throwing them away. However, in some cases it had to be done. Moreover, sometimes the destruction of the amulet was a must.

In what situations do you need to get rid of the amulet:

  1. He's worn out. This applies more to fabric amulets than to straw ones. A frayed fabric or thread that has come out of it is not considered a serious obstacle to use. But when the amulet literally disintegrates before our eyes, so that it cannot be repaired, it is better to part with it.
  2. Stopped working. Dolls made with the aim of warding off trouble from a person or his family fall into disrepair faster than others. Outwardly, they may be as good as new, but suddenly they stop working. This happens when the amulet takes on a powerful blow of negative energy inflicted by an evil sorcerer. In this case, you should put it in salt to clean it. Or try to carry out a ritual of cleaning with fire, but this must be done very carefully so that a fire does not start. If cleansing does not help, there is only one way out - to bury it in the ground or burn it.
  3. Among the folk dolls, there were also those that required mandatory destruction after the mission they had completed. For example, Zhelannitsa. When she made a person's innermost dream come true, she was burned.

Knowing about these Slavic customs, you can easily navigate how to say goodbye to the amulet dolls.

But here it is important not to forget about some features:

  • Say goodbye to the doll before burning or burying. This can be a conversation we are accustomed to or a mental conversation. Say thank you for all the good she has brought you.
  • Pay attention to your emotions when breaking up. If you don't want to let go of the doll, most likely its time has not come yet. Clear the amulet from the negative and continue to use. With an amulet that has completed its mission, they say goodbye with a light heart, without regret.
  • Puppets that help attract wealth, prosperity, or love do not have to be completely destroyed. Can be disbanded by using materials for other purposes. With defenders from disease, witchcraft and misfortune, this cannot be done. They are burned as far from home as possible.

Parting with the beloved amulets that brought happiness is sad and painful. But this must be done. Do not store damaged or lost memory amulets, because in this way you will contribute to the delay of negativity around you.

We have not yet had a doll whose name would come from the name of the tree, - said Veselina, having learned that the heroine of our today's publication will be a rag doll Ryabinka.

Yes, it is, this is the first doll with that name, ”I replied, finishing wrapping my scarf around Ryabinka.

Here I wanted to say about what is usually the basis for choosing a name for rag dolls and give a couple of examples, but I stopped in time. After all, it turned out that it was not so easy to group the names in this way, because the name for each doll was determined in a special way, despite the fact that the main factors in this were the purpose of the doll, events that took place or occurred, calendar time or historical characters.

Now the idea came to my mind to group Russian rag dolls not according to their intended purpose, but according to the time of their manufacture, dividing the year into four periods - spring, summer, autumn and winter. Although, then what about those dolls that are created at the turn of the seasons? Okay, we'll think about it. You just need to make a calendar in which the dates are marked with the name of the doll, which was made earlier on that day. Yes, I probably will. But this is so, thinking out loud.

Why did mountain ash turn out to be such a useful tree that the doll was named after it? Veselina asks.

Rowan doll - history and meaning

The value of the Rowan doll is determined magical properties mountain ash, and this is, first of all, increased protection against evil spirits and other anger. The ancient Slavs have long noticed that the Khmyrs, Shishigs and Kikimors bypass the mountain ash and are afraid of it. Therefore, for a long time they began to make protective amulets and amulets from mountain ash wood, the berries of which were very successful as a medicine and food additive.

Therefore, every autumn in the second half of September, a basis for a rag doll was made from rowan sticks, which was then dressed, decorated and called Rowan, giving it a special status of a strong amulet for the home and the whole family. The Ryabinka doll was fixed near the entrance to the house, she was the first to meet the requested and uninvited guests, preventing the dark forces from feeling calm and confident. At the same time, a man with a stone in his bosom, or what a sinister person immediately began to get nervous and fuss, like in a frying pan, wanting to leave the house as soon as possible with such prudent owners, then they had no time for profit, to be alive. This is the main meaning and purpose of the Ryabinka amulet doll of the ancient Slavs.

Rowan doll - how to make

The Ryabinka rag doll, apparently, was distributed almost throughout the entire territory of the ancient Slavs. How else to explain the fact that now there are about a dozen different ways making this doll? Most likely, in different villages for Ryabinka, they chose the most familiar way for them - for some it was a doll on a cross, for others - a post, for others - a knotted doll. I can only assume that those options in which rowan sticks were not used were made in places where rowan did not grow, or such a doll was made as a souvenir.

We have determined for ourselves that the version of the doll, when it is based on two crossed rowan sticks, will most accurately correspond to the purpose of the amulet doll, therefore we made just such a doll. Most likely, this is precisely the doll's ability to carry out its protective function. So, we make a cross, we fix it with red thread. In exactly the same way, we began to make other dolls, for example, Sacrum, Simeon Stylpnik, Koza, Kostroma and others.

For the head and arms, you will need a square white rag and a bunch of rags. We crumple the rags in a fist, embrace the head end of the cross with it and wrap the whole thing with a white rag, fixing it at the level of the neck. Two opposite ends from this flap form arms, the other two are tied to the body. Now we dress - a shirt, a skirt, an apron with a belt, a warrior and a kerchief or scarf. Additionally, you can decorate the doll with rowan branches, but you can do without this, because the power of the doll is inside her.

This is how the traditional version of making a rag doll of the Ryabinka amulet looks like. All other ways of working on this doll are distinguished by the creation of additional elements - someone makes Ryabinka's legs, shoeing them in bast shoes, someone hangs doll children on her, making them in the form of Kuvadka, Pelenashka and Pokosnitsa, someone puts them in the hands of little ones birds ... In general, they do - who is good for what, immediately coming up with some explanations for this. I believe that it is possible with great success to create designer dolls based on Russian rag dolls, and not mix everything in one pile and fantasize at the same time. But this is everyone's business, as they say, it's not for me to tell them. We completed our task - we told that there is such a Ryabinka doll, what it is for and how it can be made.

On this I will finish, Veselina once again inarticulately dozvidanka and went into the city, holding the Ryabinka doll under her arms and enthusiastically asking her for something.

Do not forget to make dolls for yourself and for your loved ones, take an interest in the life of our ancestors, they have many interesting things and concepts that would be useful to us in modern life. I wish everyone health and good mood, bye.

"It is good for him who is in his home." "Houses and walls help." "All roads lead to home." These are all old Slavic sayings about the house. They show the reverent attitude of people to their homes. The hut was protected in every possible way from evil spirits and evil people. One whispered word - and the harmony in the family is destroyed. Along with the protective signs that were applied to windows, doors and utensils, protective dolls were used. One of them will be discussed in the article. The editors of the About amulets website have prepared two master classes on making a traditional mountain ash doll.

Such a talisman is widespread throughout the territory where the Slavs lived. It is absent only in places where mountain ash does not grow. This is due to the protective value of the tree.

The cross is a symbol of life, sky, eternity, a model of the world tree. The rays of the cross, directed in all directions, protect from evil, no matter where it comes from.

Required material:

  1. Fabric in different colors;
  2. Two rowan branches;
  3. Threads;
  4. Stuffing;
  5. Decoration.

Getting started:

The doll is ready. It took about 30 minutes to get to work.

Optionally, you can decorate it with beads. We will not come up with an unnecessary meaning for beads, colors and pendants, since the main power of the amulet is inside. Even a simple product made according to the rules will protect the house from bad people, the evil eye, witchcraft, envy and damage.

It so happens that the product is untied, breaks without apparent reason... So she took on evil upon herself. Thank her for her work and burn it. Make another one to replace it. Charms with a flaw are not kept in the house. The mountain ash doll is one of the easiest and most enjoyable to make.
