Winter is a wonderful time of the year when it smells of tangerines, everything sparkles with lights, under the tree lie new Year gifts, and the children look out the window, which Santa Claus decorated with patterns. After all, only at this time such wonderful holiday- New Year! For our children and parents...

The New Year is just around the corner, many of us buy gifts for relatives and friends, decorate the house and bake birthday cakes.

As a rule, we remember one thing at the last moment - to send a New Year's card. As a result, at the last minute we rack our brains to come up with such a thing, and where to get a creative idea.

To save you time and energy, we've come up with 50 great New Year's card design concepts to inspire you to create an original greeting.

So let's see.

01. Don't be predictable

This holiday card is somewhat unconventional. She doesn't stick to the standard Christmas red and green color palette, but instead uses blue and pink colors. There is not even a festive theme here, instead - only faint hints. Fresh and unexpected.

02. Play with illustrations

Elegant cursive along with cute children illustration. Children always decorate and enhance the holiday wish.

03. Keep it simple

Postcards like these good example breaking the standard pattern New Year's greetings. Illustrations and handwritten inscriptions are made in the same color palette, making up a series of congratulations. And at the same time, each of your surroundings can receive a unique postcard. A great way to let people know they have a special place in your life.

04. Graphic style

The simple yet unique graphics of this greeting card offer an interesting retro feel. The layering of red and blue paint creates contrast and helps break up the repeatability of the pattern.

05. Using a paper sleeve

Here the postcard is equipped with an interactive element - the use of a paper sleeve with a round hole. When you pick up a card, you see a festive themed drawing. And as soon as you pull it out of the envelope, the congratulation itself appears in front of you. A fun and unique way to convey a personal greeting.

06. Feel free to style

It would seem a banal holiday card with a deer. But the intricate textured pattern and subtle white dots reminiscent of snow help balance the illustration and color background. Background gradient adds dimension

07. Using photos

This card is truly unique. All the figures on it are photographs, but since they are paired, the composition is illustrative. All the characters are the same two people, which adds a special personal flavor to the postcard.

08. Elegant to the touch

This design is extremely elegant. A thin pattern is used not only on a postcard, but also on an envelope. The contrast between the black postcard and the white envelope looks great. This congratulation is really sensual and exudes extra class.

09. Create simple illustrations

To surprise someone, you do not need to create artsy illustrations at all. With fast and simple graphics, you can achieve a cool effect. Take a look: the simple graphic Santa Claus hat stands out against the background, while the strong shadow gives the drawing a three-dimensional look. The simplicity of the pattern is paired with a little more frilly lettering to help strike a balance.

10. Add some sparkle

Who doesn't love glitter in new year holidays? On this postcard there are cones made of beautiful golden foil. The muted background further enhances the simple yet vibrant illustration.

11. Use metaphors

Holiday card depicts Santa Claus with his infamous red bag, full of gifts. The inscription on the bag - " festive mood” - conveys the main idea of the design.

12. Use literal imagery

Warm holiday wishes paired with detailed illustrations of cozy knitted pieces are the basis of this postcard. The use of some unusual illustrations along with winter greetings makes us associate with warm scarves and sweaters.

13. Festive images

This postcard shows George - but not quite your typical Yeti. He is huge, has horns, and for some reason loves Christmas.

14. Breaking tradition

At first glance, this card does not look like a Christmas card. The color scheme is not red-green, symbols and images are also not festive. But that's what makes it unique. Simply adding the message "Merry Christmas" makes the design instantly themed.

15. Use Symbols

The graphic circles on this postcard symbolize Christmas balls-decorations. Visually, these elements are not so obvious, but paired with a banner of seasonal greetings, you immediately feel the festive spirit.

16. Retro style

An example of a vintage Christmas classic. Beige color with red trim, subtle textures and font evoke a retro feel. Nostalgia makes congratulations truly deep and sensual, but at the same time light and cheerful.

17. Use interactivity

Very funny, quirky and unexpected postcard. The colors are not at all festive, there is no New Year theme either. But, it is worth pulling the tongue - “Happy Holidays” appears, and the card immediately becomes festive. Such a congratulation is ideal for creative people or teams.

18. Use illustrations as backgrounds

The design of this greeting would be great even if it used a simple black background. Adding winter themed illustrations to the background enhances the mood. The texture of branches and snow adds space to the postcard.

19. Use of negative space

Here white and blue are used together to create interesting negative space effects. White snow seeps into the cold blue of the mountains, and at the same time looks like tinsel around the snow-covered trees.

20. Get industrial

This postcard uses industrial motifs in a very clever way. The design contains a whole phrase, and spins it, turning it into a joke at the end. The drawing has the general shape of a Christmas tree, which is crowned by a printer with a star. Very simple, but incredibly funny and effective.

21. Using Silhouettes

soft and bright colors, used in this design, focus your attention on the middle of the composition. White soft blurry silhouettes turn into feathers and snowflakes. They work together with beautiful color blocks to create a deep shape. As a result, the ornament looks three-dimensional.

22. Let others fill in the gaps

Similar to the previous example, here the colors also create a nice background in the center of the composition. However, in this card, the background color forms the inscription "2016", while destroying the "2" and "6", making these numbers illegible. This allows the recipient to think of the message on their own.

23. Create something from something

Festive themed icons come together to form the iconic Christmas image, the Reindeer. You can clearly see each icon separately. To balance out the rather heavy, design-wise image, it is surrounded by round snowballs.

24. Symbiosis of typography and illustration

On this card, decorative embellishments are falling from greeting messages. Ornaments, despite the simple form, create a bright, festive spirit. The inclusion of triangular shapes and snowflakes gives the decorations extra charm.

25. Texture mapping

This design uses texture to make the card look less flat. Very subtle, but very effective technique.

26. Put together all the holiday paraphernalia

Do your friends celebrate Hanukkah? Then the idea to collect a bunch of cute little things in one illustration - the attributes of this holiday is just for you. And for those who do not celebrate this Jewish holiday, it will still be interesting to receive such a postcard as an informational and educational greeting.

27. Add a sense of humor

Kitten who is tangled up in festive garland will make anyone smile. The image itself is funny, but paired with the ironic phrase: “I can explain everything” next to the kitten, it simply sparkles with humor.

28. Use flat icons

Flat Christmas themed icons decorate the background of this holiday greeting. Everything is here: from a Santa Claus hat to a birthday cake. These postcards will show your designer friend where to go creatively next year.

29. Some more glitter

Here the congratulatory text is filled with silver. It is reflected in the light and symbolizes the hope that all plans will come true. The contrast with the yellowish golden paper offsets the silver of the letters.

30. Write your own greeting

handwritten message decorate reverse side this postcard. The unique personal touch makes it individual.

31. Postcards made by hand

Unique hand-drawn technique. Everything, from the font to the images, is handmade and truly personalized. Of course, it would be much cooler to make many unique postcards for all friends and relatives with your own hands. But it’s more efficient to make one and multiply. Still she'll keep feeling self made, and you will not be awake at night, drawing postcards to countless people you know.

32. Break the stereotypes

The outward inconsistency in the design of this postcard gives it a mathematical, scientific look. However, the letters, which at first glance seem like formulas, add up to a cheerful holiday greeting.

33. Manipulate photo images

Here, photos of two clinking beer mugs transform beer foam into something festive. Thanks to image manipulation, the image of a Christmas tree appeared on the card, and the message inside the card adds to the mood.

34. Adding Volume to Text

bright and funny snowman stands out against a patterned background. If the white text did not have red accents, then it would “melt” against the background and would not be so obvious. The red color helps to highlight and draw attention to the lettering.

35. Make a joke

This holiday card will be appreciated by many designers. To non-designers, it looks like a simple graphic Christmas tree. For those who are in the subject, it is clear - in fact, this is a pen tool, designed in the form of a Christmas tree. Great way to send best wishes colleague and entertain him at the same time.

36. Push people to get creative

An insert inside such a postcard allows people to create their own design with deer and trees. The card is not only fun, but will also serve as a kind of element New Year's decor in the house.

37. Refuse the postcard

In today's technological world, paper postcards can generally be seen as an anachronism. Instead of sending a physically existing postcard, create a custom email greeting. This will not only allow you to send it to many people at the same time and without postage costs, but also save paper.

38. Traditions Illustrated

The design of the postcard illustrates the American tradition of Christmas pickles - a cucumber hung on a Christmas tree. The one who finds pickles hanging on the Christmas tree will have good luck in the coming year. A somewhat unusual and humorous choice of illustration for a greeting card.

39. Combining different fonts

The combination of a thin, italic typeface with a dense, sans-serif typeface provides good contrast. If only one font was used in this design, then it would dominate the composition. The combination we see in this design always works well, including on greeting cards.

40. Congratulations for everyone

Christmas and New Year is a holiday celebrated all over the world. Here is a design that includes traditional greetings in various languages. All of them are collected in the form of an ordinary strip, very conveniently interrupted by the image of a deer. Using fonts various types creates a kind of texture.

41. Create your own greeting font

Font consisting of solid stripes and striped parts. By adding something personal to a regular font, we make the recipient feel special.

42. Use of geometric shapes

The geometric shapes used in this design form Christmas tree. Incredibly simple, but truly original. Green stripes also imitate needles - a great solution.

43. Add functionality

But this design gives a new meaning to warm wishes. The card itself is made from a thin sheet of wood, and you are encouraged to actually burn it to keep warm.

44. Get creative with food

On this special holiday card real cookies and powdered sugar are used. A fun twist, from boring graphics to a themed greeting. Especially if you want to congratulate partners who are somehow connected with the products.

45. Handwritten congratulations

Handwritten wishes give the cards an organic and joyful look. The inscriptions are made to fill the entire space, as a result of which they feel like a full-fledged illustration.

46. Let the message speak for itself

Here, the phrase stands out against the bluish-green background and speaks for itself, while the texture of the bottom of the background grounds and adds volume to the whole design.

47. An ordinary look in an unusual way

Here Santa Claus looks very fun and interesting. Instead of showing off the red color of the suit, it blends into the background so that we see only isolated fragments. Even if you can’t see where everything ends and begins, your eyes still accurately recognize the image.

48. Have fun with a postcard

When sending a New Year's card, you don't have to be serious at all. This design can cheer up the recipient. A white sheep is paired with a wish that is written in a way that makes you imitate sheep bleating.

49. Kaleidoscope

There are no inscriptions at all. Yes, they are not needed in this design. Character drawn Christmas decorations quite complex and detailed. And subtle silver foil accents add a winter holiday vibe.

50. Blurring the boundaries

Before us is a wonderful interweaving of letters and illustrations. The words "joy", "love" and "peace" are intertwined to form a Christmas tree. The dot in 'J' is the star, and the subtle dotted accents work as a garland. All this gives the card something special.

Hello dear readers!

The new year is on the threshold and I will not get tired of repeating it. Because I miss you a lot and want to hurry up a lot white snow. And in order to bring closer and raise my pre-holiday mood, I try to write articles only on New Year's topics. And today is no exception, we will talk about colorful postcards. Which surely wants to receive each of you. So, in order not to wait for anyone, I propose to start creating ourselves.

The most popular material for making postcards is cardboard and paper. Do you agree with me? And who has the most possession of these items? Of course, our children, their imagination is a hundred times richer. This is exactly what we need. Let's combine our forces and as a result we will get a great job. Which will be an ideal gift, both for a loved one and for a work colleague.

I remember that in the previous article we already discussed the topic. Therefore, if you plan to create souvenirs with the symbol of the year, then go ahead. And if you are fond of beads, then there is a job for you. made in this style, will be a wonderful home decoration. There are many options, the main thing is not to be lazy and start now.

This note is written especially for our kids. I mean, don't leave them out. Be sure to include them in your work. You will see such an activity will be much more exciting for parents and their children.

New Year cards for 2019 year of the pig (templates)

I think it’s worth starting our selection with classic ideas. Although from my own experience I can say that each work is unique. Despite the phased scheme, each of you will put something new into the work. Someone will complement it with decorations or change the decoration. Here is how fantasy works. In any case, a hand-made postcard is a hundred times more beautiful than a purchased one.

Let's look at two options, you decide and choose the right one. Or maybe take note of both. Here the choice is yours.

And here it is one of the first works. As you can see, the picture shows a bear. But just as the coming year of the Yellow is approaching us Earth Pig, then a pink pig will look perfect against this background.

Let's prepare the necessary material. We need a little of it. And you will surely find it in your house.

We will need:

  • A4 cardboard
  • Acrylic or gouache paint white color
  • felt-tip pens

For decoration:

  • jute thread
  • cinnamon pod
  • sweet lollipop
  • Decorative rowan twig

Manufacturing technique:

1. Take a sheet of cardboard and bend it exactly in the middle. To make the fold line more stable, walk along it with a wooden skewer or knitting needle. Now on one of the front sides we apply a drawing with a simple pencil. Movement should be light, do not display the picture too brightly. Please note that in the future we will paint over it with white.

Decide on the pattern, it can be absolutely anything. You can draw a pig for the coming year.

2.Now that your sketch is ready, you can start painting. Take a brush with a thin tip. See that the "hairs" of the brush look in one direction. It is desirable to use acrylic paint, you can use gouache, but in this case it should be thick enough. We decorate the figure of a bear.

We will apply the eyes and nose with a black marker or felt-tip pen. We draw patterns in the same way. You can circle the drawing around the outline, thereby making it a little brighter.

3. To give our postcard a New Year's mood, you can apply small dots in the form of snow. Thus showing them in the form of snowflakes. Well, now you can start decorating. For this we need decorative twig rowan, sweet caramel and cinnamon. Tie all the presented material with jute thread. Then wrap around the postcard, securing the ends from the wrong side.

You can do it a little differently. Prepare the decor, fasten it with jute thread, and then attach it to the finished postcard with hot glue. And then you do not need to wrap all the work. The finished product will be in the public domain for opening.

This is how your work should end up. You can get creative and add a little more decoration.

Time to move on to the second option. We will make a postcard from cardboard and add more decorations. By the way, in the form of symbols of the new year, we will use the shape of a deer. Which can be replaced by any other. Maybe it will be a bug.

We will need:

  • Black cardboard
  • Deer silhouette in white
  • Rhinestones and sequins
  • White gouache
  • Brush
  • Transparent oilcloth
  • Scissors

For decoration:

  • Cinnamon
  • sweet lollipop

Manufacturing technique:

1. First of all, you need to make the main form of cardboard. To do this, cut out the cardboard so that if we fold it in half, we get a square. Then carefully highlight the core with a knitting needle or other sharp material.

Now open the resulting form. And on one of the inner sides, draw two lines diagonally. Our task is to find the very center. Found? Insert the tip of a compass into it and draw a circle.

Then switch sides of the compass. Set in the center with a pencil, and with the tip go around in a circle several times. Thus, we will achieve the desired effect and be able to cut a circle with a clerical knife.

2. So with one part of the work done, it's time to do the rest. Look at this product at this stage, you should succeed. Let's keep making it. Take a brush, dip the tip into the paint. Then shake it a little over the cardboard. Thus, small “drops” will appear in the form of a starry sky.

3. Now let's start decorating the circle, which we cut in advance in cardboard. Be sure to walk along the contour with white paint (gouache).

We take a transparent oilcloth, transfer the shape of a circle to it. Use a felt-tip pen so that the outlines are clearly visible.

Now in the resulting circle we lay our decorative elements. Cover with the other side of the oilcloth. Gently go over the iron (putting paper under it).

The temperature of the iron should be as low as possible. Otherwise, the result will be negative.

4. Now we need to attach the same oilcloth to our postcard. We take cardboard with a cut out center. From the inside we put our decorative part. Please note that sequins and rhinestones are visible in the window that we made with you before. Walk the iron again, but already around the entire edge. Pressing well against the cardboard itself.

Paint the other side black. You can paint, but in the future let it dry thoroughly.

You can draw stars on a black background. Or any other image related to the new year.

Our work is almost ready. It remains to add a little decoration, that's what we'll do now. Take cinnamon and sweet caramel. Fasten them together with jute thread. Then fix it on the card itself with glue.

Now we fix the deer in advance by cutting it out of white cardboard. By the way, the shape of the figure can be absolutely any. I will lay out several templates from which you can choose the appropriate option.

The flying pig version is just super. It seems to me that such a silhouette would look perfect in the picture.

And here is a piggy bank in the form of a piggy bank. Personally, its shape reminds me of this particular object. What do you think?

Well, in conclusion, the classic pig carcass. Who, it seems to me, decided to have a little snack. So with this subsection we figured it out. I think it's time to move on to the next no less interesting title.

Do-it-yourself postcards for the new year from paper and cardboard

Well, that are ready to work miracles with their own hands. In order for the work to be ideal, I propose to consider several options. Let's start with the most simple ideas. For the manufacture of which we need a minimum of material. But it still takes a little effort.

And here is one of the options for work made of cardboard. I think the diagram is clear. First of all, print it out, then transfer it to paper. Carefully cut out, make marks at the fold points.

We cut out additional parts and fix them on the prepared cardboard with glue. Choose colors that are more contrasting so that they differ from the main form. Do not forget to attach the ties, you can use a satin ribbon for this role.

Another idea is "minimalism". All you need to do is just take white cardboard. Bend it straight down the middle. On the inside, draw the shape of a Christmas tree. Immediately indicate the cut points with a dotted line so as not to get confused in the future. Now we take stationery knife and cut off the parts marked with a dotted line. By the way, the drawing in this case can be anything.

Now we open our postcard and glue it on the side where there is no picture colored paper contrasting color. By the way, you can choose a non-monotone shade, stop at the New Year's version. In the picture where one of the symbols of the new year will be depicted.

For example, this picture in this work, I think it will look much more interesting. These bells and snowflakes will give the finished work a festive look and lift your spirits. Here are a few more ideas that your kids will surely love.

Reindeer is another of the symbols of any new year. It does not matter in what form it is depicted in a single or harnessed state. In any case, one of their images already tells us about the upcoming winter holiday.

No less interesting version of the background template. Made in green with the addition of Christmas trees and snowflakes. And these multi-colored circles are like festive balls that have fallen from a thorny tree.

Look at the work, it seems to be similar, but thanks to a different pattern, it looks a little different.

Let's move away from this postcard a bit. I think with this work everything is more than clear. We move on to the next product made similarly from cardboard.

Do you want to make this beauty with a minimum investment of time. Just a little effort and you will definitely succeed.

Got some cardboard? Yes! Then for business, here is not a complicated template. Thanks to which everything will definitely work out. We make notches at the folds. To make these folds more accurate, go through them with a knitting needle or something else sharp.

Be sure to pay attention to the size. If you follow exactly according to the scheme, then there will be no inaccuracies in manufacturing.

And here's how your finished work will look expanded. By the way, you can change it a little appearance. And the words of congratulations can be completely different. Think about this moment.

For decoration, you can use beads, rhinestones and even sequins. They should be fixed with hot glue, for greater confidence that they will not fly off.

A bit similar to the previous one. But the congratulatory part will be inserted. That is, if necessary, it can be removed and put back into place. By the way, you can play a little with color. Make it brighter, then the color of the tape should be chosen appropriate.

Prepare the base for the postcard, for this, fold the cardboard in half. Measure the length of the front. And now cut out strips of the same length from colored paper. Then glue them to the front of the future postcard.

For decoration, we will use a Christmas tree. To do this, cut out the shape of a Christmas tree from thicker cardboard. Then we connect four threads different color in one and wrap our workpiece. We fix the beginning and end of the thread with hot glue.

Now we fix all the decorations made on the postcard.

Here are some of the great ideas we've come up with. I don't think we should stop there. We gather our strength and move on.

Making a card with children from colored paper (master class)

So let's get down to making the next piece. I promise your kids will love this one. We will carry it out from colored paper and cardboard. Of course, we also need glue and scissors. The color of the postcard should be decided in advance.

So let's start with suitable color cardboard. Then we fold it in two. Thus we get two equal parts. You can measure again with a ruler.

Now let's start making parts. Adding which in the future we get a pig. We will cut out the parts according to the template.

Be sure to indicate the dotted lines on the blanks. In order not to confuse the fold line in the future.

We attach the cut out templates to colored paper, in our case yellow color. Trace along the outline and then cut out. Now attach the yellow blank to the template. And with the help of a ruler, bend it along the dotted line. More step by step can be seen in the photo below.

We do the same with all the details. If for someone, it is not entirely clear once again I repeat. We pick up a cut-out blank from colored paper. Then connect it to the template (where the dotted lines are indicated). And bend along these lines two parts folded on top of each other.

Please note that the ears are on both sides. And this means that the direction of both is different. Therefore, do not mix up the templates when you transfer to colored paper.

Probably all the parts you have already prepared, I suggest moving on to the next step. Let's start with you to create a postcard. We pick up the cardboard, which we initially folded into two equal parts. We open it and get to work, we will fix the prepared parts right in the center. Let's start with piggy legs. Fasten so that the convex part is outside.

Now let's start fixing the rest of the details. The method, in principle, is still the same, which does not differ from the previous one.

For greater stability, it is recommended to fasten all parts with a glue moment.

Now it remains to add a patch. Cut out a circle from colored yellow paper. We draw a contour of a more contrasting color. And draw small holes with a black felt-tip pen, which is typical of any nose.

We firmly attach it to the main part of the postcard. See that the fold line of the workpiece coincides with the center of the product.

You can put something under the patch so as not to stain the base made in the form of a head of a hryundel.

Now we fix the eyes with the same glue. We decorate the card with flowers and balls, cutting them out in advance from the same colored paper.

Our work is ready, now we think who will become the owner of such beauty. By the way, the front side can be decorated with the same colors. And maybe someone wants to write congratulatory words.

New Year's card ideas for children 3-4 years old

Well, that got to our kids. As I promised, and we will not stop them aside. I propose to consider the most popular ideas for making postcards for children aged 3 and 4 years. To be more precise, preschoolers.

Whose kids love to create with their hands? I think each of you will answer this question in the affirmative. And when the holiday concerns the new year, Santa Claus and even a gift. They are ready to make something funny and interesting with double strength. And we, as parents, must help them with this.

You probably know that many children at this age are very restless. That is why I think to start with the most quick jobs. Which are made two times and by the way with a minimum cost of material.

And here is one of the first options. We make the main part by bending the a4 size cardboard in half. And then we start decorating the front part. By the way, such a product can be used in the form of a letter to Santa Claus. By writing something in the inside.

Here is another job done by the way quite easily. In this case, strips of various widths and lengths are cut out, and then attached to the base. This will require the help of parents. Since not all kids at this age are able to work with scissors.

I'll tell you a secret that all the kids like this postcard. To be more precise, they treat the image of the Snow Maiden and Santa Claus with great trepidation. And in general, any product made by hand for them is a whole job. It's great when such beauty can be created from improvised means. As you can see, these are cotton pads, plasticine and ordinary threads from which the braid is made.

Did you know that you can make a 3D postcard with kids. By the way, such work will take you a minimum of time. And as a result, we will get the maximum of positive emotions.

In this work, you can use napkins of completely different colors. And for decoration, use sequins or rhinestones, thereby imitating Christmas balls.

And in conclusion, I want to bring to your attention another postcard in the style of 3D. By the way, a detailed step by step description. Therefore, questions should not arise at this stage.

Again work with scissors, please do not leave your children unattended. Working with it metal objects very dangerous, especially for such small ones.

Well, now for those who like something more serious. We will make the product in a more complex style. What, you will find out going down a little lower.

Video on how to make a scrapbooking card

Let's talk about another interesting type of needlework. We will make a postcard in the style of scrapbooking. You should have noticed that this technique is gaining immense popularity in our world. This hobby is developing with great force. Most people prefer to make gift items with their own hands. And this idea is just amazing. We move away from the banal version of gifts and make them ourselves. And despite step by step diagram with a photo, each of us will get his own special result.

Let's step back from words and get down to business. I offer you a wonderful video tutorial. Where each step will be described in detail.

An excellent master class of a New Year's card. What I liked the most is that all the stages are so detailed that even a beginner can cope with such work. Therefore, we are not shy, we acquire the necessary material and get to work. The New Year is just around the corner, so you need to stock up on ideas now. Good luck in your work!

Dear readers, my article has come to an end. I do not want and will not say goodbye to you. I look forward to seeing you in the next post. Where we will once again analyze the New Year theme in detail. I have not yet decided whether this dish or craft, in any case, it should be interesting.

Until then, come visit!

Hello everyone, hello! Remember, recently I promised you that I would make a detailed article on the topic of creating New Year's cards with my own hands ?! I keep my promise and share my experience.
